Chapter 206: Zombie Wave ( 7 )
Anna actually left her large bandages in the Church and only carried a small bag with some medical supplies that could fit in it.
As this was happening, the others at the rampart and the Super Soldiers behind the barrier at the open gate had already noticed Anna's arrival.
For some reason, her appearance actually made others relieved. With a Physician and Alchemist near them, they immediately recalled that as long as they didn't get infected by the virus, they would still live!

During this time, Shane's gaze swept across the battlefield...
The flamethrower roared, its fiery tongue licking at the encroaching undead. The elves and crossbowmen, their quivers full, sent arrows humming through the air, each shaft finding its mark.
Leo and his helpers made a total of 7,500 arrows, so they didn't have to worry about their ammunition.
The Super Soldiers, their muscles taut, swung their weapons with practiced movement, cleaving through rotting flesh.
Lady Seraph, Gene, and Lucas also started fighting from a distance… In any case, they obtained a lot of ammunition for their revolvers.
And then there was Eldric, the man who claimed to be the Strongest Scavenger. His Kris Blade could easily pass through the bodies of the Zombies, and just like the other Super Soldiers, he had also stepped out of the barrier to fight at close range!
He fought ferociously as if each strike was fueled by the memory of lost loved ones…
'We're winning… If this goes on, the first wave would be a complete victory.' Shane thought as he decided to keep his Grenade Launcher.
Instead, he pulled up his Sharpshooter's Laser Sniper Rifle to help anyone who needed assistance.
Well, he was confident that they'd win since the Aegis Force was still holding on, and even if it got destroyed, they still had the Bulwark Beacon's protection.
Then, as he surveyed the battlefield, his eyes fell upon Anna.
She knelt beside Thalion, her hands deftly binding wounds in a practiced motion.
Anna shouldn't be here, but Shane didn't mind her presence at all. As he thought of asking Anna if she needed anything, something unexpected happened.
Cloud, his ever-watchful A.I. Assistant, reported.
[ Unknown Zombie detected 250 meters ahead. ]
"Mhm?"
Shane's gaze shifted, and there it was—an outrageous zombie aberration.
'There's no record of this one, but it has some semblance of a Screamer Zombie.
To be exact, it seemed to be a leader type of the Screamer Zombie. It seemed more twisted, larger, more malevolent.
Its mouth yawned impossibly wide, and Shane saw a black chasm lined with jagged teeth.
Its body was compact, sinewy, like a coiled spring ready to unleash devastation.
'What a nasty Zombie…' Shane commented in his mind.
It even seemed that this zombie wasn't mindless just like the others.
It stayed on its spot as if assessing the surroundings.
Its eyes glowed with an intelligence that chilled Shane to the bone.
Acidic saliva dripped from its maw, sizzling as it hit the ground.
Soon, this Unknown Zombie moved. Its elongated limbs started inching forward while its joints popped like snapping bones.
As the distance closed, the ground seemed to tremble.
After reaching about 100 meters…
The Unknown Zombie's body started trembling, and Shane knew that something was about to happen.
Without hesitation, he aimed his Laser Sniper Rifle and shot!
Bang!
The shot hits the Unknown Zombie, but because Shane is in a hurry, he decides to hit its head instead of its neck!
The head of the Unknown Zombie seemed to be just filled with liquid, and it didn't die or pause even a second after being shot!
Instead, it released a sonic wave in its mouth that made the Aegis Force Barrier tremble!
Screeech~
The barrier hummed, strained by the powerful attack.
Thankfully, the Bulwark Beacon was still there and protected everyone from the Sonic Attack!
Yet even the Bulwark Beacon showed signs of stress, hairline fractures spiderwebbing across its surface.
Shane's mind raced—this was a battle of attrition, and the Unknown Zombie was aiming for the barrier that was protecting their palisade and the warriors and archers on the rampart.
Desperation fueled Shane's next move.
He adjusted his aim, his laser sight tracing a path from the creature's head to its throat. He squeezed the trigger once more, and the shot struck again.
Bang!
The Unknown Zombie's throat exploded, a gory fountain of liquid erupting.
But the creature didn't falter. Instead, it unleashed another sonic assault through the torn hole!
"This…"
Just like that, the barriers shattered like glass.
The rampart lay exposed, and the defenders staggered, their ears ringing from the onslaught.
Shane's gaze fell on Mara, the current wielder of the Flamethrower.
Without hesitation, he barked orders. "Mara! Hell's Fury! Now!"
Mara's eyes widened, but she obeyed.
"I'm on it!"
She placed the zombie cores she needed and triggered the Flamethrower's most potent setting—a torrent of fire that roared forth, creating a wall of searing heat. The flames danced a barrier of their own, pushing back the Unknown Zombie and shielding the defenders.
