Gilgamesh Reborn in Naruto

CHAPTER THIRTY ONE: MESSAGE.

On that same night, Shisui went on patrol on the outskirts of the village and sensed a small group of shinobi. Shisui ran ahead to check if they were Leaf ninja making rounds, but he knew he was the only one assigned to that area, sparking two ideas in his head. The shinobi he sensed were either Anbu ninjas working under the direct orders of the Hokage or simply intruders.

After catching up to the fleeing ninjas, Shisui discerned that they hailed from the Hidden Mist Village, their affiliation revealed by the distinct color of their attire. Without hesitation, Shisui confronted the group, seamlessly employing both body flicker and shadow clone jutsu. The Mist ninjas, attempting to infiltrate the village, swiftly retreated upon encountering their pursuer. Shisui's genjutsu exerted its influence on two of the Mist ninjas; the rapid movement of his clones caught up to the two lagging behind, stunning them with a genjutsu that induced their collapse. This compelled the squad leader to put a halt to his team's advance.

The leader, with light blue hair standing up straight and an eye patch concealing something special in his right eye, calmed himself after being taken by surprise. He used his Byakugan, an ocular prowess unique to the famous Hyuga clan in the Hidden Leaf Village, to assess the situation. His eye scanned the forest, discovering chakra signatures behind rocks and on a tree branch, all resembling each other and staring at him sternly. After the scan, he sighed and deactivated his Byakugan.

"We are retreating!" the leader declared calmly.

The remaining three shinobi checked their fallen comrades, who appeared to experience unimaginable horrors.

One shinobi questioned the decision, to which the leader responded, "We are in grave danger! Shisui, the teleporter!" The squad, understanding the gravity of facing Shisui, nodded and left, carrying their fallen comrades. Shisui's war reputation spoke for itself!

After the Mist shinobi left, Shisui sighed and relaxed on a tree trunk. "Finally," he uttered, contemplating Gilgamesh and the deal he made with him.

"That kid isn't normal! How can he know of the coup, my parents, and the future as well? Something is wrong somewhere. But if he threatens the village, I will..." Shisui's statement was cut short by a sharp pain at his core, causing him to bend in pain.

"Even talking about this counts as an offense to the seal he put on me? Why did I even accept this in the first place? Why don't I go to the Third and ask him if he knows anything about seals or anyone that can unseal..." Shisui was once again interrupted by another sharp pain, causing him to lose concentration, dispersing the chakra on his feet, and fall from the tree branch he once stood on. His clones dispersed, realization dawning on him.

'Is there no way to escape this? Tch, he even knows about how I got my mangekyo. A secret I thought I would carry to the grave,

' Shisui thought as he looked up at the starry night sky. Accepting what had happened, he began to carry out his orders.

The next day, Gilgamesh was summoned to the Hokage's mansion. Anticipating the reason, Gilgamesh decided to delay the summons by practicing chakra absorption jutsu on the Anbu ninja who came to deliver it. The poor ninja, unaware he walked into Gilgamesh's apartment, triggered his barrier genjutsu.

Earlier, Gilgamesh had been experimenting in his apartment, creating barriers to test their duration. He devised a genjutsu barrier that traps anyone entering his apartment for at least eight hours. Yet, he aimed for something more potent – modifying the inscriptions to create a command in the barrier, integrating chakra absorption jutsu to keep the victim in an eternal state of genjutsu without fatal consequences.

Stuck in his experiment, the Anbu ninja broke into his apartment through the window without regard for Gilgamesh, delivering the Hokage's message. Gilgamesh, lounging on his couch in nothing but a pair of black trousers and ninja sandals, looked at the Anbu ninja lazily. The ninja, insulted by the Hokage sending someone of his caliber to deliver a message in person to a mere chunin-level ninja, broke into the house disrespectfully and swiftly delivered the message. As he turned to leave, he noticed the path to the window kept getting further away. A horrid idea crossed his mind: ‘Genjutsu?

Previously, in a private conversation with Kurenai, Captain Yamato candidly acknowledged the unnerving nature of Gilgamesh's abilities. He pointed out that the true menace lies not only in the imperceptibility of Gilgamesh's chakra signature but also in the untraceable chakra emanating from his ninja arts and ninjutsu.

Captain Yamato urged Kurenai to envision the scenario of facing Gilgamesh in combat, highlighting the potential peril if one were caught off guard by his potent jutsu. The revelation left Kurenai shocked and contemplative, considering the prospect of the young boy evolving into the most formidable Anbu assassin.

Despite the gravity of this information, Captain Yamato assured Kurenai that he had no intentions of including it in his report to prevent any interference from Danzo.

Currently, the Anbu ninja that invaded Gilgamesh’s home without so much as a knock swiftly lost consciousness, and Gilgamesh turned his attention to practicing chakra absorption on a willing volunteer. His recent encounter with Shisui had been brief and successful, yet he couldn't shake off the realization that his life hung by a thread. Although he had foreseen Shisui's every move, he had to rely heavily on a barrier genjutsu that almost proved inadequate against Shisui's speed.

Haunted by a past defeat to a younger opponent, Gilgamesh was determined not to succumb to carelessness. Learning about his death only fueled his resolve to ascend to the pinnacle of this world. In the clash with Shisui, Gilgamesh faced a critical weakness – his body struggled to absorb and break down foreign chakra. This vulnerability demanded immediate attention, as it almost cost him the battle.

A fleeting memory surfaced, depicting his past self as a wise mage proficient in powerful arts, seated on a throne, ruling over a kingdom and the world as its first hero.
