Ghost Compendium

Chapter 264: Trojan Horse!

"This is already the fifth Unlimited Transmission Chip! Damn it, can we really not shake off that guy?"

After several transmissions, the trendy young man from the Promised Land felt like his head was about to explode, his whole body revealed an unmistakable fatigue.

To be honest, if it weren't for that Monkey guy following him like the Grim Reaper, the trendy young man would probably have wanted to collapse and sleep for days on end.

After all, the side effects of the Unlimited Transmission Chip were quite obvious—it caused the user to become increasingly weak.

Logically speaking, this thing was meant as a means of escape. Once you transmit to a safe place, you can rest however you want.

But who would have thought that this time he hit a brick wall!

Every time he finished a transmission and arrived at a safe house, he'd notice the Pixel-like figure of a mosaic forming beside him.

In just a few seconds, the menacing eyes of the Monkey, that penetrated the Sun Wukong mask to reveal a murderous intent, would appear.

He was actually able to follow along with his transmissions!

"Can't you just chase someone else, you damn band-aid?!" the trendy young man cursed and swore.

He really couldn't run anymore.

At this rate, he wouldn't even need the Monkey to make a move, he'd collapse from exhaustion right where he stood.

Now the only option left was to fight to the death!

As the trendy young man cursed, Wu Liang's silhouette gradually appeared not far from him, those pixel-like mosaic blocks forming his body, as if he had been transmitted over by an Unlimited Transmission Chip.

"Other people? Do you mean them?"

Wu Liang said coldly.

Then he raised a chain of heads, pierced by Mist Chains, that looked like an oversized bracelet, though the faces on the beads were all familiar to the trendy young man.

"!!!?"

Looking closely, the trendy young man counted the Monkey's heads, there were eight in total!

You need to know that for this operation, they brought fifteen people along in total!

Besides a companion who abducted Luo Fei in secret and the three killed on the spot in the ramshackle village, only twelve people, including himself, had fled in different directions.

Who knew that in such a short time, the Monkey was both continuously transmitting along with him and hunting other members down!

"What kind of monster are you, dammit? Don't you ever get tired?!" he panted desperately.

He really couldn't imagine someone going through so many transmissions without even breaking a sweat, and even having the time to chat.

This time he was really done for.

Old Cheng, Old Cheng, you were really right, guarding the Ginseng Fruit was indeed a Zhen Yuanzi.

This bastard really isn't someone to be trifled with…

Thinking about this, the trendy young man couldn't help but let out a smile, laughing proudly to the sky: "So what if it's Zhen Yuanzi! I still took the Ginseng Fruit!"

Indeed! No matter how powerful the Monkey might be, didn't he still manage to capture the Black Swan with a cunning plan?

That was enough!

"Well said, then I'll take your life too, and you can wait on the Yellow Springs path for the Pioneer to join you!"

With those words, Wu Liang extracted a supernatural object shaped like a spine from the trendy young man's waist, and with a simple flick of his hand.

Crack—

The spine-shaped object suddenly exploded in the opponent's hands, instantly blasting him into an unrecognizable bloody mess, leaving not even a corpse behind.

"As expected, your influence on this world is just so-so; even if I directly modify that supernatural object, the spiritual power cost is low." Wu Liang shook his head in amazement.

He perfectly understood why detonating that spine didn't come with a high price.

After all, he was much stronger than this trendy young man, even being able to kill him easily without modifying anything.

Plus lately, he had been using the ability to modify reality from the Ghost Compendium more frequently, becoming more proficient in the process.

He wondered if it was a mere illusion.

Wu Liang always felt a premonition urging him to master the Ghost Compendium's abilities, as if it would wield great influence over his future.

"Heh, the future? It's always the path you walk upon, but for now… where are you at?"

After the self-mockery, Wu Liang used the Ghost Compendium to communicate with the abducted "Luo Fei."

......

"Uh, I probably haven't reached the Promised Land's lair yet. After all, boss, you chased them so fiercely, now they're carrying me around trying to hide." Luo Fei replied to Wu Liang in resignation through the Ghost Compendium.

Using "boss" to refer to Wu Liang, it's obvious she wasn't the real Luo Fei.

To be exact, she wasn't even human!

The one who could disguise perfectly and deceive everyone—among so many Fierce Ghost Minions—could only be that annoying Puppet Ghost!

On the first night arriving at the ramshackle village, Wu Liang had switched places with the Tower Ghost using Ghost Shadow Following and left it over at the Utopian Village.

Along with the real Luo Fei, whom he brought to the Peach Blossom Spring, entrusted in the care of his mother Yao Qingxue.

Over the following days while the Promised Land members schemed, the one left behind was always the Puppet Ghost pretending to be Luo Fei!

Wu Liang wanted the unsuspecting Promised Land members to take her as the real Luo Fei and exploit her value to an extent that attracted the Pioneer's attention.

After all, within the organization, the only one capable of creating an Artificial Ghost was probably the Pioneer.

With his personality, it was impossible that he'd impart this technique to any other members.

So once he learns that Luo Fei can increase a Fierce Ghost's power unconditionally, and possibly elevate it to a City-Destroying Level or even Country-Destroying Level, Wu Liang didn't believe the Pioneer could remain calm!

Just imagine, when those fellows present Luo Fei as a surprise gift to the Pioneer, he would switch places using Ghost Shadow Following.

At that distance, Wu Liang was confident the Pioneer wouldn't escape again!

......

"Come on, man… isn't all this running tiring you out? Even getting carried around makes me thirsty, can you spare some water?" the Puppet Ghost suddenly awakened on the member's shoulder from the Promised Land and asked.

It startled the fellow so much that he almost thought the Monkey was swooping in, jumping as if pricked by a needle.

The Promised Land member who abducted the Black Swan seemed quite unremarkable.

He was one of those passersby whose features you wouldn't remember at a glance and would lose in a crowd instantly.

His supernatural objects were quite different from those that the trendy young man had, mainly consisting of small items for fleeing and hiding.

He looked incredulously at the awakened Black Swan and said: "The dosage I used just now should have knocked you out for hours! How did..."

Before he could finish, the captive girl scornfully replied: "Do you have any idea what kind of torture I went through under Wu Yeli? The things they did! My body developed a resistance to tranquilizers!"

Hearing this, the passerby fell silent.

Why did he have a feeling that the girl seemed almost proud when she mentioned such painful experiences?

What the hell are you proud of!

Hasn't this girl's brain gone haywire?
