Chapter 127: The True Ghost
"Are you sure this will work?"
Tang Shiyue reached out with some concern to touch the white mist surrounding her, but how could mist be touched?
She recalled the first time she attempted to escape the fourth floor; the moment she stepped out, she collapsed weakly in the stairwell, eventually becoming so debilitated that she fainted.
When she awoke, she was back in her ancient-looking room.
"As I said before, you can choose the first option. I can conveniently test whether people like you, who have powers due to the influence of a Fierce Ghost, can be killed."
Wu Liang shrugged.
He thought it would just be easier to have this woman lead the way, but he didn't mind fighting his way up floor by floor alone.
After hearing his words, and recalling the slaps from earlier, Tang Shiyue's gaze seemed to become much clearer.
She walked with determined steps up the stairwell, fearlessly advancing toward the fifth floor.
After all, taking even a single step back might get her punched to death by the Awakened behind her... Damn, this guy is more like a Fierce Ghost, isn't he?
As Wu Liang expected, under the influence of the Mist Ghost's ability, nothing unusual happened when Tang Shiyue walked out of the stairwell because her presence had been erased by the mist, so the true Fierce Ghosts in the building couldn't sense her leaving.
The two of them headed toward the fifth floor.
The fifth floor had a golden and splendid corridor; the entire floor was decorated like a luxurious resort hotel, much akin to the Dongri Grand Hotel's style.
The survivor managing this floor seemed to be someone who chases wealth and cares about appearances.
"The people on the fifth floor are hiding in Room 502 right now. You go knock on the door directly; I'm not going in..." Tang Shiyue pointed toward the door not far away.
She was still a bit apprehensive about entering other people's rooms.
In the past six months, anyone who entered a strange room never came out alive, not even herself who killed everyone entering her boudoir.
Wu Liang wasn't bothered to force her, as he only needed to confirm where the tenants on the fifth floor were.
Knock, knock, knock—
With the sound of his knocking, the door of Room 502 opened in response.
A man in a sleek suit with meticulously styled hair peeked out from inside, looking like a successful person who arrogantly lifted his head slightly.
Wu Liang couldn't help but laugh sarcastically at this.
Clearly a victim trapped in a long-term supernatural event, yet he showcased himself in a fine appearance after gaining some power through a Fierce Ghost to slaughter others. What a joke.
"Hmm? Who are you? The dorm manager didn't notify me about any new arrivals today?"
The suited man examined Wu Liang, who looked just like a fresh-out-of-college student.
If not for the hideous scar on his face, he might even make a living as a gigolo.
"Well, there's no reason not to take someone who delivers themselves. Kid, your bad luck."
With that, the suited man casually waved his hand.
Several sharp implements floated into the air behind him, instantly stabbing towards Wu Liang's vital parts—being hit in any of these areas would likely be fatal, a clear demonstration of sinister intentions!
Slap—
Bang—
The first sound naturally was the suited man, like Tang Shiyue earlier, clutching his face in confusion, not understanding what happened. The bang was those sharp implements all dropping to the ground with metallic clinks.
"Enough with the nonsense. Someone downstairs asked me to beat you up, and after that, take a walk with me upstairs." Wu Liang's indifferent voice came through.
The suited man looked at him in terror, vaguely hearing a woman's voice cheerfully shouting, "Hooray! That's it! A few more slaps!"
Who am I?
Where am I?
What just happened?
These three questions spun around in the suited man's dazed mind after being beaten.
He wanted to resist! He was indignant! For the past half year, he was the one who did the killing! How could anyone else's head be above his own!
And so, the suited man bravely stood up!
........
"Sir, do you want me to call him out for you to beat up?"
Five minutes later, the beaten and bruised suited man followed Tang Shiyue and Wu Liang to the sixth floor, pointing to a door far away, intending to call out the tenant inside for Wu Liang to "spar" with.
It took a minute to go up the stairs, while he got beaten for a full four minutes, nearly losing his life.
Indignant? Want to resist?
No such thoughts existed anymore.
Within the next twenty minutes, the suited man and Tang Shiyue together witnessed this madman fight his way back down to the ground floor lobby from the top floor.
The six former survivors, now tenants on each floor, had all been "convinced" by Wu Liang and followed him down.
Seven people in total stood at the entrance of the management office, and Wu Liang knocked on the dorm manager's door, saying, "Hello, please come out to die, cooperate with my work and don't cause trouble."
Just as he finished speaking, a pile of flesh, as high as a small mountain, suddenly smashed through the door!
She looked at the six tenants behind Wu Liang and roared angrily, "Everyone go back to your rooms! Face the consequences if you don't!"
Unfortunately, no one paid attention to the dorm manager's once-terrifying roars and twisted, writhing monstrous body.
Instead, they instinctively huddled into a corner together to avoid the blood splatter later.
For now, they had something even more terrifying.
As expected, they weren't disappointed—
In the next few minutes, they watched as Wu Liang, wielding a rusty cleaver, chopped this mountain of flesh into a real pile of flesh.
It wasn't until the flesh mound stopped moving that everyone resisted the urge to retch, attempting to say something.
However, Wu Liang motioned for them to keep quiet.
Then, he said to himself, "Don't rush; the big one is coming."
Accompanied by his mutterings, the walls of the entire building began seeping a dark red liquid, so nauseatingly thick that even the murder-stained hands of the watching tenants felt intimately familiar.
This was the smell of human blood!
Everyone panicked, not expecting the entire apartment building to undergo such a transformation!
They all ran outside, knowing full well that they couldn't escape the supernatural boundary, but at least there was a small patch of ground to stand on outside.
Anything was better than staying inside to face the unknown terror!
Yet, when everyone fled out, they realized that the madman who previously beat them all had not escaped but instead stood in the lobby, gazing upon the increasingly viscous blood at his feet.
"You could have starved these people to death half a year ago, yet you offered them hope at the last moment, laying out some tenants' supernatural rules to have them kill each other; isn't that redundant? And when you saw that they were running away, you hastily revealed yourself."
"So, let me guess, you don't want to kill people directly, but something only living people can produce?"
With Wu Liang muttering to himself, the Ghost Compendium before him gradually surfaced details of the Fierce Ghost.
[Tower Ghost]
[Nature: Enjoys keeping people inside itself, enhancing itself by consuming strong emotional fluctuations at the moment of death; can freely control various changes within itself]
[Weakness: Will dissipate if the main building collapses after losing all tenants]
For the past half year, no one at the agency could imagine that this bizarre half-completed building was the main body of a Fierce Ghost!
