Chapter 301: Stolen?
Sitting on the smooth marble counter of the kitchen, Elize let out a soft, breathless chuckle as Brandon's lips found hers once more, catching her off guard.
Her hands instinctively rose to his neck, curling around it and his arms wrapped around her waist, holding her against him.
His lips lingered, exploring the edges of her lips while stealing little kisses.
Eventually, their lips parted, and her eyes were half-lidded with flushed cheeks.
"That reminds me…" she whispered. "Don't tell Charlotte about your relationships… with me, Ravene, Dhayun, or Yve. Not for now."
Brandon's eyes flickered with understanding, before lowering his gaze "…Alright."
Elize smiled in relief "Good."
Before he could respond further, she reached for him again, pulling him in for another kiss.
Her lips parted willingly, and she gently pushed her tongue against his, testing his response.
Brandon, without missing a beat, reciprocated.
His lips parted just enough to allow their tongues to meet, and with a subtle movement, he entwined his tongue with hers.
The subtle pressure of his lips, the warmth of their shared breath, and the soft, wet sounds of the kiss filled the small kitchen space.
When they finally parted, their lips glistened slightly, and both of them inhaled deeply.
Brandon's thumb brushed gently against Elize's lips, tracing the soft, plump curves of her mouth, still wet from their kiss.
He leaned in closer as his thumb parted her lips, slipping into her mouth and brushing against her tongue.
Elize's seductive smile widened as she closed her lips around his thumb, sucking gently and her tongue swirled around it with deliberate, teasing strokes.
Brandon's thumb played with her tongue, feeling the warm, wet heat of her mouth, "The way I want to fuck your mouth…" he muttered, his thumb pressing deeper, parting her lips wider.
Elize grinned, her lips tightening around his thumb, sucking harder, "What's stopping you?" she teased.
With a chuckle, he murmured "Once Charlotte leaves..."
She hummed under her breath and he kissed her cheek.
---
The soft clinking of cups and the gentle rustle of snack wrappers were the only sounds in the backyard.
The four women sat in a loose circle on cushioned chairs, the late evening sun casting long shadows across the lawn.
Charlotte, composed as always, lifted her teacup and took a slow sip as she cast a glance at Dhayun, Eira, and Yve.
Their eyes darted between each other and Charlotte, unsure of how to bridge the gap that distance and hierarchy had carved between them.
They were too nervous to talk to her.
After a pause, Charlotte spoke "You've grown… very well, Dhayun. I couldn't even recognize you."
Dhayun's eyes widened for a brief moment before softening and she quickly lowered her gaze but smiled in return. "Yes… Sister Yejin."
Charlotte's lips curved into a faint smile upon hearing her old korean name "You remember playing with little Kael back in Korea, don't you?"
A soft sigh escaped Dhayun before she nodded. "Yes… I do. He was always full of energy, always running around."
For a brief moment, a hint of memory flickered in Charlotte's eyes as she recalled those early days.
Charlotte glanced at Dhayun once more "You don't need to be so formal and call me by my Korean name. You can use my real name."
A small nod escaped Dhayun's lips, and a shy smile formed as she whispered, "Mhm… I will."
Eira and Yve, still sitting nearby, exchanged glances and smiled gently.
Charlotte took another sip of her tea and relaxed against the back of her chair.
---
The night air hung cool, carrying the faint scent of wet earth as distant thunder rumbled across the darkened sky.
Charlotte stood near the edge of the garden path, one hand holding a slender cigarette loosely between her fingers.
Brandon watched her from the doorway for a few moments and his eyes softened as he looked at her.
Without thinking, he stepped out into the open air and padded softly across the grass.
Slowly, he walked up behind her.
As he reached her, he wrapped his arms gently around her waist from behind and pressed his chin lightly against her shoulder.
Charlotte's eyes flicked toward him, but there was no surprise in her gaze and a faint smile touched the corners of her lips, as if she had been expecting him all along.
"You came out to smoke at night, as usual…" he murmured quietly.
He tilted his head, keeping his chin resting on her shoulder. "Looks like it's going to rain. The clouds are rolling in… feels like it'll start any minute."
Her eyes were half-closed as she let the smoke drift from her lips before responding. "Yeah, we should go inside soon."
Brandon let out a soft chuckle, his lips brushing against her shoulder as he leaned closer. "Hmm… we should,"
Before she could say anything further, he reached out and gently took the cigarette from her lips.
Without hesitation, he lifted it to his lips and drew in a slow puff, letting the smoke fill his lungs.
But then he let out a soft, almost embarrassed cough as the sharpness of the smoke hit him harder than he expected.
Charlotte quickly took the cigarette from his lips "I already told you… don't try it, Kael," she said firmly.
There was no anger in her eyes, only concern and a hint of affection.
Brandon showed an apologetic grin. "… yeah, yeah… I know. I won't try it again."
Satisfied, she blew out the remaining smoke with a soft sigh and flicked the ash away.
Then, with a fond glance, she tucked the cigarette between her fingers once more. "Good, Let's go inside before that rain catches us."
---
It was well past midnight and outside the thunder rolled across the skies as sheets of rain lashed against the windows.
The occasional flash of lightning cast eerie, fleeting shadows across the walls of the room, briefly illuminating the faces of the three girls asleep on the bed.
Dhayun curled against the wall, Yve sprawled in a half-fetal position, and Eira lay on the edge of the bed with one arm flung across her stomach.
Inside the dim room, the only light came from the occasional streak of lightning.
It was in one such flash that Eira's eyes fluttered open.
At first, her gaze was unfocused, blurred by sleep and the sound of rain.
But then, feeling a presence, her eyes widened in terror.
A figure stood beside her bed silently.
"Huh?" she breathed and slowly Eira's eyes adjusted.
"Sister… Charlotte…" she whispered, barely able to believe what she was seeing.
Charlotte stood like a shadow with her arms at her sides.
Her yellow eyes shimmered unnaturally in the intermittent flashes of lightning.
Eira's heart began to race and she opened her mouth to speak further, to ask what brought Charlotte here at such an hour, but before she could say anything...
Charlotte's hands shot forward and her fingers curled around Eira's neck.
For a fraction of a second, Eira's eyes froze in disbelief.
Then pain and panic exploded through her senses.
Her eyes bulged and breath caught in her chest as Charlotte's grip tightened mercilessly.
The skin of her throat quivered under the pressure, and the pulse in her neck throbbed wildly.
"You… stole my Kael…"
