Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!

Chapter 747: Changes In Yu Ming

The tall double doors of the Silver Comet Hall closed with a quiet thud, sealing the matriarch inside.

Now alone, Yu Meilin sat in silence. The spirit lanterns on the walls cast long shadows across the floor. Outside, the faint sound of wind passed through the gardens.

Her eyes slowly lowered, heavy with responsibilities as a matriarch and a mother.

Her thoughts drifted towards the time Yu Ming had spent outside in the mortal world, as they liked to call it to make themselves feel superior to the cultivators living outside.

At first she thought it was merely an outing, a child throwing tantrums, and she even allowed it to keep her daughter away from the eyes of the people in EverDawn City, and to be honest, she felt the most relieved during this time, but the worries of her safety always gnawed at her.

So she asked her personal maid to bring Yu Ming back to the severed realm.

She was most shocked when she heard about her encounter with the pair of son and mother in the outside world. The bigger shock was the fact that the problem that had been paining her daughter all of her life was now solvable.

One trip to the outside and she found the solution to her worries…

Why couldn't she have a day like that?

What kind of luck was that?

The thought made her chuckle wryly.

Naturally she was worried about the technique she brought back, given to her as a gift by a man. But when she checked it herself, she found out that not only was the technique orthodox and untainted, but it was also on a level she had never seen before.

The fact alone made her want to send people to search for people her daughter encountered before, but that day she got lectured by her ever-so-obedient and scared daughter like she was the mother and Yu Meilin, the daughter.

Yu Ming made it clear if her mother did not follow her wishes, she would break ties with her and leave the home.

She knew that her daughter was not serious about the threat because she knew that even though she was strict with her daughter, Yu Ming had said things like this before, but she had never acted on them before.

Yet this time was different; she saw the firm, unwavering light in her eyes that said that even if Yu Ming did not follow that threat, she would take some serious action.

In the end she had to relent and allow her to do as she pleased.

Another surprise came for Yu Meilin when she saw her daughter cultivating hard every day without skipping, like she had been suddenly possessed by some ancient cultivator.

Within a decade she managed to break through and reach the peak of the Golden Core Realm. She could even progress further, but she had been suppressing her cultivation to make sure those greedy elders did not find out about her.

After consulting with her daughter, Yu Meilin had even hidden her situation from the elders and made sure no one found out about her cultivation technique that was like a ticket to solving her problems.

But now that this proposal—no, a forced ultimatum from a big family she could not afford to offend—had arrived, she was crushed at the thought of what to do and what not to do.

She let her thoughts spiral down the line while sitting in the same position and staring at the open ceiling above.

After some time, Yu Meilin snapped out of her daze and sighed out loud.

"Ai." She whispered the name under her breath, and almost instantly a woman dressed in a maid outfit materialized out of the shadows.

The woman stood with her head lowered and silently waited for her mistress's command.

"What is she doing?" She asked calmly, though there was a foreign tenderness in her voice that only the maid could discern.

"As usual, Miss has been trying her hand at alchemy as a way to pass her time." The maid replied to her with no special tone. "Young miss also asked about you today, said she wanted to speak with you about something."

A sigh of exhaustion escaped Yu Meilin's mature lips as she heard those words. She was well on board with her cultivating and getting strong by practicing combat techniques, but she thought alchemy was beneath someone like her.

It was not that she had any talent for alchemy; no, on the contrary, she did not seem to have any decent talent, but Yu Ming refused to let go of the cauldron in her free time.

Seeing the cauldron explode as she failed to create a pill, Yu Ming would giggle like a maniac and just move on to the next pill.

'Did she go insane?' Sometimes the matriarch of the Yu family could not help but wonder if the technique she had obtained had been flawed.

But after so many tests with her soul sense, she found no substantial problems.

Despite her assertions, Yu Ming seemed keen on practicing alchemy.

Hearing that her daughter wanted to talk about something, the green-eyed woman had a decent idea what she was thinking.

Yu Meilin sat still for a few moments longer, her slender fingers gently tapping the armrest of her chair in a slow, thoughtful rhythm. The soft clink of her jade ring against the wood was the only sound in the room. Finally, she exhaled through her nose—a quiet breath that carried years of exhaustion, worry, and reluctant admiration.

Her gaze lifted toward the ceiling once more, but this time, her eyes were not distant.

They were focused.

Clear.

With that same dignified calmness, she turned her head slightly toward the maid, a faint shift that somehow held the weight of command.

"I understand," she said, her voice quiet but firm. "Tell her I'll come to see her shortly."

The maid bowed in acceptance and disappeared the same way she had appeared in the room.

Once more alone in the room, Yu Meilin could not help but think about the words the elders left her with.

Her fingers curled slightly over the armrest of her chair.
