Chapter 444: Interruption
While Noah and Xin Yan moved to start their spontaneous date in the beautiful city, someone was watching them with ill intentions.
It was the same person who had been following them from Primal Dawn City, his identity remaining a mystery because of the dark cloak he had donned.
"Haha! To think you would come here of all places! Don't blame me for whatever happens to you now," his voice croaked with dark obsession before the shadows in the alley shifted and returned to normal.
The man reappeared before a beautiful inn in the city. No one paid attention to his conspicuous outfit, as if he was not even visible to them.
The man walked inside the inn and made his way upstairs. He stopped after arriving in front of one of the doors.
*Knock*
After knocking, he walked inside, closing the door behind him.
…
"Why did you give the girls four hours? The sun will be setting in three hours, and we will have to travel at night," Xin Yan asked curiously as they moved through the city.
"There is a reason this city is so popular and is also called Luminous Dusk City," Noah responded with a smile, interlocking his fingers with hers. "Do you see those two mountains in the distance?"
Xin Yan turned her head in the direction of the two huge mountains that were still visible from where she stood.
"The sun sets between those mountains, and when the perfect time comes, the sun rays reflect from the crystal-like surface of those mountains and fall on this city, illuminating it. I don't know how it looks, though." Hearing Noah's explanation, Xin Yan found herself lost in the expectation for the sunset to come.
"How do you know about the rest?" Xin Yan asked curiously. Noah brought out a piece of paper from his ring and passed it to her.
Xin Yan took the paper and unfolded it before chuckling lightly. The paper was filled with details of the city, not just this one but other cities as well.
All the cities had one thing in common: they were all very good dating spots for couples.
Realizing that Noah had been looking for a day with her, Xin Yan leaped into Noah's arms, startling the boy.
"Thank you… this means a lot to me." Noah ran his fingers through Xin Yan's hair, caressing it softly. They did not care about the glances they were getting from the people around them and continued walking.
They toured through the city, deciding not to use their senses and enjoy what the city had to offer with their eyes.
Xin Yan had long removed her mask but was still in her old appearance. She wanted to enjoy the breeze and the sunlight on her face.
She asked Noah to do the same, but he rejected it, at least for the moment. Their first destination was a beautiful garden with a small lake in the middle.
Despite the small crowd, Noah managed to find them an empty place. Most of the people visiting were young couples or older ones here for a walk and to enjoy the beauty of the area.
In the middle of the lake was a gazebo connected to a low arched wooden bridge. Everyone was mostly gathered around the area, wanting to experience the scene of the calm lake from the center.
"This is a really crowded place," Noah muttered under his breath while looking around.
"You don't like crowded places?" Xin Yan's expression changed to curiosity as she looked at Noah.
"Not really…" After a moment of silence, Noah sighed. He did not see any point in lying about this, but he also did not want to make her suffer just because he did not like a little crowded place.
"Then you should have told me first. We can go to other places; I don't mind going anywhere as long as it's with you." Xin Yan chuckled, seeing through Noah's thoughts and explaining what she felt. "I am happy just to have your time and company…"
Noah did not say anything for a while after hearing her response. He suddenly took Xin Yan's hand and walked in the direction of the lake.
Although curious about his actions, Xin Yan silently followed him. Even when he was about to step into the lake, she did not say anything.
Noah stepped on the water and started floating on the lake. Xin Yan followed after him and did the same.
Before anyone could notice them, Noah placed a seal on them which made it so that no one would notice them.
As they took a step forward, ripples were sent all across the lake. People were puzzled where the ripples came from in the calm lake, but they did not pay much attention to it.
Soon the ripples stopped as the two arrived at the middle of the lake.
"It's beautiful," Xin Yan commented, taking in the beauty of the area. The calm lake, the beautiful flowers at the edge of the lake, the well-trimmed trees, and the bushes—all complemented each other, forming a beautiful scene.
Taking a deep breath, they could smell the fresh scent of the flowers from all across the lake.
"Indeed it is." Xin Yan leaned back in Noah's arms to enjoy his warmth while enjoying the scene.
They stayed in that spot for a while before returning to the surface and continuing their date.
"Do you want to go shopping?" Standing in the middle of the crowded city market, Noah asked with some curiosity. Xin Yan hadn't bought a single thing since they arrived in this city.
Xin Yan shook her head as she noticed something from the corner of her eye and froze.
Noah followed her sight and looked over his shoulder; there stood a man covered in black robes.
Feeling the familiar aura from the person, Noah immediately knew that this was the person who had been following him.
Even though the man was hiding his presence with something, Noah was still able to sense it with his dragon bloodline.
"You are finally ready to show yourself?" Carefully looking at the man, Noah asked calmly.
