Chapter 206: Genshin Impact's Incense Burner Of Liyue [206]
"Oh, don't worry," Gu Sanqiu said with a smirk. "As long as you're somewhere in Liyue Harbor, you'll definitely see what I'm planning."
"Come on! What exactly are you up to? The more you say, the more curious I get. We're brothers—can't you give me a hint?" Xingqiu pressed.
"It's obvious. No, I can't."
Gu Sanqiu refused without hesitation. "This isn't about being brothers or not. Spoiling the surprise would make it boring."
"Fine, I'll just have to wait patiently for the big reveal."
Xingqiu took care of the bill—or rather, had it charged to the Feiyun Commerce Guild's hosting account—and the group dispersed in perfect sync.
Xiangling, inspired by new culinary ideas, hurried back to her kitchen. Xingqiu went to dig deeper into the agricultural client's background. Chongyun, armed with contact details Gu Sanqiu had provided, went to stock up on talismans and other supplies.
These were habits born from their last excursion to the Guyun Stone Forest—leftover "side effects" or perhaps just the development of good practices. Whether facing spirits or entities not even classified as living beings, preparation was never a bad idea.
Of course, it was also likely that neither Xingqiu nor Chongyun wanted to risk enduring another carrot-only meal under Gu Sanqiu's "care."
As for Gu Sanqiu, he returned home to find neat stacks of crates arranged on either side of his doorway. They didn't block the path, a testament to the professionalism of the delivery workers.
"Oh-ho, time to get busy."
Rolling up his sleeves, Gu Sanqiu began moving the crates into his courtyard.
Some of the items he'd ordered were delicate materials, so simply tossing them around wasn't an option.
"Now, the assembly process for the Kamera..."
He pulled out schematics he'd "borrowed" from a secure archive, alongside a sample model.
Apparently, the team at the archive had been considering miniaturizing the Kamera and using it for surveillance at Yuelai Pavilion—not just to prevent document theft, but also as a way to monitor employees.
Gu Sanqiu had outright rejected the latter idea, deeming it better suited for prisons. Subjecting ordinary workers to such scrutiny was, in his view, excessive.
With a deft motion of his hands, Geo elemental energy formed a smooth track on the ground. Placing a crate onto the track, he gave it a gentle push with Anemo energy, sending it sliding into his crafting area.
The courtyard soon echoed with the rhythmic clang of tools.
Gu Sanqiu took a break to down a glass of freshly pressed apple juice before inspecting the Kamera he'd built.
Its dark exterior absorbed light without reflection. If not for its unusual shape, it could have doubled as a helmet. The lens was discreetly tucked inside the main body, resembling a compact glasses case.
It reminded him of his younger days when a careless drop had scratched his glasses. He'd worn them anyway, unable to afford a replacement, though the memory still stung.
"Appraise."
Item: Vintage KameraQuality: Blue
Evaluation: A collectible-grade artifact Kamera. Its weight is slightly excessive, but it could double as a weapon in a pinch.
Exchangeable: Yes
"Into the system you go."
Striking a classic pitcher's pose, Gu Sanqiu hurled the Kamera into his "golden finger," hoping it might hit something interesting inside.
Whirrr—
A long, drawn-out sound filled the air, leaving Gu Sanqiu wondering if someone was crafting something in real-time within the system. Finally, it spat out a spherical device.
Item: All-in-One Media Sphere
Origin: Hengli Continent
Notes: A cutting-edge product combining television, livestreaming, radio, and more. While it encapsulates advanced technology of its era, it has no particularly unique features.
"Jackpot!" Gu Sanqiu grinned.
Who cared about uniqueness? All-in-one gadgets were his jam—no need to lug around multiple items. Absolutely perfect!
"New Year's fortune is treating me well! Maybe I should try wishing later. Who knows, I might even pull the Old Man himself during the Lantern Rite?"
He paused, then shook his head. As tempting as a one-pull five-star was, the thought of the Geo Archon raining spears on him during the trial fight was enough to squash the idea.
After all, his system required him to defeat whoever he summoned to claim their rewards.
Packing away the Media Sphere, Gu Sanqiu got back to work, hammering out other items he needed while his lucky streak was still going strong.
---
"Hey! Place that carefully! Yes, right there. Don't break it—this piece is so valuable, one drop and you'll be paying off the debt for the rest of your lives!"
"And you over there! What do you think you're doing? This is for that big shot from the Gu family. Touch it again, and you'll be regretting it tonight!"
The foreman, shouting orders, felt a sharp slap on the back.
"Who—?! Can't you see I'm—"
He turned, only to find a calm incense-bearer standing next to him.
"Oh! It's you, Xiangjun. What can I do for you?"
"I overheard something about 'not sleeping well tonight.' Care to explain? It wouldn't happen to be one of those strange urban legends, would it?"
The foreman laughed nervously. "Of course not! We Liyue workers take pride in our jobs. If we don't work properly, we don't feel right about the money we earn. That's what I meant—nothing more!"
Gu Sanqiu glanced at the installation work, which was decent enough. With a nod, he decided to let it slide.
It wasn't worth making a fuss over festival gossip, after all.
Still, it was baffling. He wasn't anything like Hu Tao, constantly drumming up business, yet rumors about him seemed to sprout out of nowhere.
Ridiculous. If you were going to spread gossip, at least make it believable.
"Sanqiu!"
From a distance, a girl wearing a black hat ran toward him, covering the last five meters with a leap, arms outstretched.
"Hehe, I missed you!"
"Shield deployed."
Gu Sanqiu conjured a shield without hesitation, nimbly sidestepping to let the black-hatted girl land where he'd been standing moments ago.
"What do you want?"
"Hehe, didn't I just say I missed you?"
Hu Tao tilted her head, pressing her index fingers together in mock innocence, her expression slightly pouty.
"Wow, it's been so long since we've all hung out together. Our bond's clearly weakened—you don't even want to hug me anymore. Remember when you used to carry me to buy candy when we were kids?"
"...Well done. That was quite the performance."
Gu Sanqiu clapped, expressionless. "But 'hug' and 'carry' are two different words. If your Liyuean needs work, I can recommend a tutor."
He dusted off his hands. "Now, care to explain why your Ferrylady was waiting outside my house with a mountain of invoices when I came back? Care to elaborate?"
---
T/N: Hu Tao's back! Yay!
