Genshin Impact: Transmigrated as Furina's Second Personality

Chapter 55: The Great Battle Begins

Felina demonstrated her methods and wisdom in her contest with the Akademiya, showcasing to Nahida what it truly means to be a competent god.

After reflecting on the events, Nahida even felt somewhat relieved.

She thought to herself, if Felina's initial ambitions hadn't been confined to the desert but had extended to the entirety of Sumeru, then with Felina's skillset, conquering Sumeru wouldn't have been much of a challenge.

"I've just gained my freedom, and for the moment, I don't know where to go."

"You could say you're the only friend I know in this world, so naturally, I thought of you first."

"Besides, didn't you say that as a ruler, my abilities are still lacking?"

"I think you're incredible—a truly remarkable ruler. So I've decided to stay by your side and learn from you."

Standing before Felina's desk, Nahida's crescent-shaped eyes sparkled with joy, and her round little face looked adorably sweet.

Hearing this, Felina couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

"You are the God of Wisdom. If you need knowledge, can't you just look it up in the World Tree? Isn't sticking by my side to learn a bit unnecessary?"

"How could it be unnecessary?"

Nahida shook her head. "Even though I can obtain knowledge from the World Tree, it's essentially no different from reading it in a book."

"The World Tree is merely a more expansive and comprehensive book. While I may have read about these things, without firsthand experience, it's still meaningless."

"In the end, when it comes to knowledge, those who are accomplished should be the teachers."

"As a ruler, you are far more capable than I am. So from now on, I'll be counting on you, Teacher!"

When Nahida finished speaking, Felina remained silent, causing Nahida to blink and reveal a sly expression on her face.

"Oh! I understand. Are you waiting for some kind of disciple's tribute?"

Nahida rummaged through her small pouch and pulled out a piece of date palm candy, placing it on the desk.

"Teacher, please accept this."

At this point, what else could be said?

After all, being the Dendro Archon's teacher was, in itself, a favor that could pave the way for future goodwill between Fontaine and Sumeru. It would also allow Felina to gain a new friend—what reason was there to refuse?

Ultimately, Felina agreed to let Nahida stay on as her secretary and assistant. She also promised to teach Nahida through their daily work together.

Felina thought that if one day her student could single-handedly wrest power back from the sages of the Akademiya, wouldn't that be an interesting turn of events?

In no time, half a month had passed.

During this time, under Felina's guidance, the plan to incorporate the desert into Fontaine progressed steadily and methodically.

The merger of the desert into Fontaine was, perhaps, an obvious manipulation by Fontaine to those who were observant.

However, noticing something and proving it were two entirely different matters.

For a region like the desert, which had just declared its independence only to immediately seek integration into Fontaine, such actions were inherently dubious. Thus, a proper set of procedures and necessary theatrics had to be put on display for others to see. At the very least, the process had to be so thorough that no one could find fault with it.

As a result, under Felina's covert instructions, the newly independent desert established a "provisional government" in Aaru Village and sent a delegation to visit Fontaine.

The desert delegation was warmly received by Fontaine.

During the visit, the desert delegation expressed friendly intentions toward Fontaine and requested assistance for the desert from the Fontaine authorities.

Felina immediately stated that Fontaine and the desert had been friendly neighbors since ancient times. Since a friend was asking for help, it was only natural for Fontaine to lend its assistance.

Thus, using this as justification, Fontaine began dispatching a large number of workers to the desert. They worked on hydraulic engineering projects to widen river channels and redirect Fontaine's waters into the desert.

This approach not only solved Fontaine's rising water level issue but also addressed the desert's water shortage while creating numerous job opportunities for Fontaine's people.

Most importantly, in order to ensure the safety of Fontaine's workers and the smooth construction of the river projects, it was naturally necessary for Fontaine to deploy military forces.

In this way, Felina not only bestowed her favor upon the desert but also found a legitimate reason to station Fontaine's troops and the Oceanid Familiars in the desert, thereby achieving de facto control over the region.

The desert's people, who had long wished for the desert to merge with Fontaine as soon as possible, were not only unopposed to the arrival of Fontaine's troops and Oceanid Familiars—they were, in fact, overjoyed.

As for the troops and familiars dispatched to the desert, aside from safeguarding the projects and the safety of the desert's inhabitants, they also carried out a special mission under Felina's orders.

"The desert wasn't always a desert. Once, it was a lush and vibrant rainforest. But ever since a Nail fell from the heavens in ancient times, the desert's vitality has been utterly severed."

"Though I wish to improve the desert's environment, with that Nail in place, my hands are tied. So, for the sake of the desert's long-term prosperity, you must locate the Nail within the desert and remove it."

"This is the task Lady Furina has entrusted to us."

In Aaru Village, Vigneire addressed the desert's people with these words.

Vigneire held great authority in Aaru Village. Other than Felina herself, she was essentially the desert's actual ruler.

The tale of a Nail falling from the heavens and the desert's subsequent loss of vitality was also recorded in the desert's history.

Thus, as soon as Felina's command was issued, the desert's inhabitants were filled with fervent enthusiasm.

Additionally, Felina had specifically marked the approximate location of the Nail.

With the Oceanid Familiars leading the way, accompanied by a host of desert dwellers, the group surged into the depths of the desert to begin their search for the Nail.

To locate it, both Fontaine and the desert invested significant manpower and even mobilized Fontaine's large excavation machinery.

Although the Nail was buried deep beneath the ground, the desert dwellers were driven by the aspiration of bringing lasting prosperity to their descendants as they toiled to unearth it.

When people have hope and ideals, they naturally find motivation in their work.

Furthermore, in the eyes of the desert's inhabitants, Lady Furina had poured vast amounts of manpower, resources, and finances into their future.

Fontaine's friends had even traveled great distances to endure the harsh conditions of the desert's wind and sand to help them excavate.

The benevolence and compassion of Lady Furina, as well as the tireless efforts of Fontaine's allies, deeply moved them. How could they possibly fail to live up to such friendship?

At last, after countless efforts by both individuals and machinery, the Nail that had been deeply embedded in the ground was finally unearthed!

This Nail, towering three to four stories high and referred to by players as the "Skyfrost Nail," was immediately transported back to Fontaine under the protection of countless Fontaine troops that very night.

By the following morning, the Nail had been delivered to Fontaine's Academy of Sciences.

That same day, Felina summoned a large group of scientists specializing in missile research.

She gave them a single, straightforward instruction.

"My only request is this: find a way to launch this Nail ten thousand meters into the sky and ensure that it is dropped with the tip facing downward."

"The drop range must be consistent with that of long-range missiles. You must guarantee that this Divine Nail can be deployed to any location across the globe!"

The Divine Nail was a Nail cast down by the Heavenly Principles from the Celestia.

It possesses the ability to purify the power of the Abyss and stabilize the continent, but its side effects are equally pronounced. Once deployed, it causes nearly permanent damage to the local Ley Lines.

The importance of the Ley Lines to the continent of Teyvat goes without saying.

When the Ley Lines are disrupted, the resulting disasters are catastrophic.

For instance, Dragonspine was once home to an ancient civilization. However, after the Divine Nail fell, the Ley Lines were severed, the environment drastically changed, and the region became perpetually buried in snowstorms.

Similarly, in Liyue's Chasm, when the Divine Nail descended, the resulting impact caused the layers of rock to shift, giving rise to its rich mineral veins.

In Inazuma's Tsurumi Island, the the Divine Nail caused chaos in the Ley Lines, leaving the island shrouded in perpetual mist. Within this chaotic ley line environment, the ley line projections of Tsurumi's inhabitants replay their past lives in an endless loop, like tethered spirits.

The desert, too, was once a thriving rainforest. After the Divine Nail fell, its vitality was extinguished, transforming it into an arid land of relentless winds and sand, where life has struggled to thrive for countless years.

Thus, the Divine Nail is also known as the "Ley Line Severing Nail."

As its name suggests, it is a Nail that severs Ley Lines.

While both the Divine Nail and man-made weapons like the Primordial Missiles wreak havoc from above, the latter rely solely on explosive force, and their environmental impact is ultimately recoverable.

In contrast, when a Ley Line Severing Nail strikes, an entire city could become uninhabitable. For hundreds or even thousands of years, the affected area would remain a hostile, desolate place unsuitable for habitation.

In some ways, the Divine Nail is even more terrifying than a nuclear bomb. The radiation pollution from a nuclear detonation may dissipate within decades or centuries, but the damage wrought by a Divine Nail is almost irreversible.

Aware of the devastating power of the Ley Line Severing Nail, Felina had long set her sights on acquiring one.

Not long ago, during her negotiations with Zhongli in Liyue, she had expressed her desire to obtain the Nail beneath the Chasm. However, Zhongli refused, claiming that it might still have its uses.

Now, with the desert's independence, Felina was finally able to extend her influence fully into the region and secure the Divine Nail for herself.

This Ley Line Severing Nail would become Fontaine's ultimate superweapon, its value comparable to that of a nuclear bomb, creating an unparalleled deterrent against every nation on the continent of Teyvat.

With this Divine Nail as Fontaine's trump card, the nation's security was undoubtedly more assured than ever before.

Now, all that remained was to await good news from Fontaine's Academy of Sciences.

Several days passed.

One day, Felina received a message from Zhongli.

[Everything is ready. We can begin at any time.]

Felina understood what Zhongli was referring to.

The Azhdaha Dragon King was about to break free of his seal. Not long ago, she had reached an agreement with Zhongli to cooperate in slaying the Dragon King.

However, a battle of such magnitude would inevitably have far-reaching consequences, necessitating careful preparation for evacuations, disaster prevention, and other measures.

Over the past weeks, both Fontaine and Liyue had been preparing for the imminent battle. Now, at last, all was ready.

After receiving Zhongli's message, Felina felt a twinge of melancholy in her heart.

As a gamer, she couldn't help but feel regret for both Zhongli and the Azhdaha Dragon King.

If possible, she didn't wish to kill Azhdaha. She believed that Zhongli didn't want to, either.

But there was no choice. Azhdaha had personally asked Zhongli to grant him release. For the future of Liyue, Zhongli had no option but to kill the Dragon King.

The same held true for Felina. The seismic activity caused by Azhdaha had been continuously affecting Fontaine's Submarine Primordial Waters beneath the earth. For the sake of Fontaine, she had no choice but to ensure Azhdaha's death.

This was the sorrow of rulers. For the sake of their nations and their people, they often had to carry out actions they wished they didn't have to.

After replying to Zhongli, Felina informed Neuvillette of the situation. Once all preparations were finalized, Felina departed for Liyue.

On that day, Felina and Zhongli both appeared in Liyue's Minlin region.

Felina wore her usual attire, while Zhongli was clad in his divine raiments, his face obscured by a golden mask that concealed his features.

As the stone spear descended, the seal buried underground was completely shattered, and a terrifying aura surged forth!

The enormous body of the Azhdaha Dragon King crawled out from beneath the earth, its crimson eyes blazing with madness and violence.

The moment it saw Zhongli, it let out a sinister laugh.

"Morax, you've come here in person. Today, I will finally exact my revenge for being sealed!"

"I'll kill you first, and then destroy Liyue!"

Zhongli knew well that the Azhdaha Dragon King had fallen into utter madness. Any attempt to reason with it would be futile. Without hesitation, he gave Felina a decisive nod and launched his attack on the Dragon King!

Massive geo elemental energy gathered in the sky, transforming in an instant into several mountain-sized stone spears that came crashing down toward the Azhdaha Dragon King below.

The stone spears blotted out the sky, and seeing Zhongli strike without a word, showing no mercy, only enraged the Dragon King further!

It let out a thunderous roar toward the heavens. Immediately, immense amounts of geo energy converged upon it. Lifting one of its massive feet, it stomped down onto the earth with devastating force!

At that moment, the overwhelming might of the Azhdaha Dragon King shook the mountains to their core!

With that stomp, a terrifying geo-elemental shockwave erupted from the Dragon King's position, spreading outward in all directions!

The ground quaked violently. Cracks, like spiderwebs, spread across a radius of several kilometers, reducing rocks, trees, and everything within to fine dust in an instant.

Nearby mountain peaks, under the immense force of the shockwave, crumbled as if they were nothing more than fragile sandcastles on a beach, collapsing into piles of rubble within moments.

The stone spears Zhongli had summoned were no exception. The shockwave shattered them into several pieces, which then fell heavily to the ground.

"Lady Furina, Azhdaha is the Dragon King of Geo, and I am the God of Geo. My geo-elemental attacks will have limited effectiveness."

"This battle should see you take on the role of the main attacker, while I engage the Dragon King directly to create openings for you to strike. What do you think?"

Zhongli conveyed his thoughts to Felina through a mental transmission.

"That sounds ideal," Felina immediately nodded in agreement.

Hearing her response, Zhongli's body began to radiate a powerful golden light. Moments later, a colossal bronze-golden dragon appeared in the skies above Minlin!

This was none other than the true form of Morax, the Geo Archon—a traditional oriental dragon in its full majesty.

The golden dragon was comparable in size to the Azhdaha Dragon King. With a resonant dragon's roar, Zhongli dove downward, engaging the Azhdaha Dragon King in a fierce battle on the ground!

On the other side, Felina spoke inwardly to herself, "Are you ready, Furina?"

"Mm! I'm ready! I'll fight with all my strength!" replied Furina, her tone earnest and resolute.

"Good. Then let's join forces and fight together!"

Felina felt a deep sense of relief and pride.

The last time Furina encountered Scaramouche, she had been forced to summon her courage in the face of danger. That experience had catalyzed her growth into a much stronger individual.

Now, Furina had already mastered approximately two-thirds of Felina's authority and power.

As for why they referred to their battle as a joint effort, the reason was simple:

It's well known that elemental energy is guided by thought, shaped to act according to one's will.

However, most individuals are unable to multitask effectively with elemental energy.

For example, a warrior adept in Electro might find it impossible to simultaneously focus their will on cloaking their fists in lightning while also conjuring a bolt of lightning to strike their enemy from above.

This is the limitation of not being able to split one's attention.

But Felina and Furina were different. They were two independent consciousnesses capable of operating separately yet in perfect synchronization.

This meant they could simultaneously manipulate elemental energy to coordinate their efforts, effectively creating a two-on-one combat dynamic.
