Chapter 239: This Trainee Fatui Harbinger is Too Unreliable [239]
In the Living Room
The atmosphere was thick with silence.
Shenhe's face burned with shame and anger. Not only had Luo Qing kissed her, but he'd brazenly declared his intention to build a "fleet" of women.
If only she weren't immobilized right now—she'd have fought him for eight hundred rounds until the heavens trembled!
Meanwhile, Ganyu's thoughts were a swirl of conflicting emotions.
She wanted Luo Qing to like only her, yet didn't want to compete with her Junior Sister. She felt despondent over his shameless behavior but couldn't help feeling a flicker of joy when he promised never to leave her lonely.
Each woman was lost in her thoughts, unsure if coming to Sumeru had been the right decision.
Luo Qing, however, was unbothered.
Having already embraced the role of a scoundrel, why stop at two? Whether it's two or ten, the only difference is how much effort it'll take to keep everyone satisfied.
The awkward silence was broken by the sound of clattering dishes from the kitchen.
"Dinner's ready!"
Makoto emerged from the kitchen, carrying a platter of grilled fish. Behind her, Theresa and Rosalyne followed, each holding a dish.
"What are you all sitting there for? Come eat!"
When Ganyu and Shenhe didn't move, their heads bowed, Makoto stepped forward and took their hands, her enthusiasm impossible to refuse.
"Come on, you two sweet sisters! Let me take you to wash up."
"Eh—"
"Wait, don't pull! Who's your 'sweet sister'?"
With Makoto's relentless cheerfulness, Ganyu and Shenhe were gently dragged to the washroom.
This left Luo Qing and Theresa standing alone in the living room.
"Master, did you seal the deal?" Theresa asked, leaning in conspiratorially.
"What?" Luo Qing blinked, confused.
"You know, with the sister duo. Did you… succeed?"
"..."
"Why do you want to know?"
"It's important!" Theresa said earnestly. "It determines who's the elder sister and who's the younger one in the family hierarchy! I mean, I was your second acquisition, so technically I should be the elder sister to them, right?"
"..."
[+1 Frustration Points from Luo Qing]
"Theresa," Luo Qing said, patting her head, his voice calm. "No matter how many people are in the family, you'll always be the youngest little sister."
"Wha—?!"
[+1 Frustration Points from Theresa]
Theresa's face twisted into a grimace. She'd been enjoying the head pats, but now her expression soured.
"Why, Master?"
"Because…" Luo Qing glanced pointedly at her chest.
"You're the smallest."
"..."

In the Washroom
As they washed up, Ganyu couldn't help but feel puzzled by Makoto's warm and welcoming demeanor. She hesitated before speaking softly.
"Um, Miss Makoto, may I ask… What exactly is your relationship with Luo Qing?"
"I'm his wife, of course," Makoto replied with a bright smile.
"..."
[+1 Frustration Points from Ganyu]
[+1 Frustration Points from Shenhe]
Shenhe snorted. "Luo Qing kissed both of us just now."
"Of course. That's because I'm the official wife," Makoto said with a straight face.
"..."
[+1 Frustration Points from Ganyu]
[+1 Frustration Points from Shenhe]
"That's why I'll always help him pursue any woman he likes. That's what a proper wife does," Makoto added matter-of-factly.
"Doesn't it bother you when he gets close to other women?" Ganyu asked softly, her tone tinged with curiosity.
"Of course it does," Makoto admitted. "But I'm more afraid of him leaving me entirely."
Her expression softened as her thoughts wandered back to the past.
There was a time when her arrogance had cost her dearly. Despite being the first of the group to meet Luo Qing, her pride and stubbornness had made her fall behind three others.
By the time she came to her senses, she was the last to join his "family"—even ranking below Theresa.
Forget being the official wife—getting a single day of Luo Qing's attention each month was a luxury back then.
Now that the chance to reclaim the title of "first wife" was within reach, she wouldn't let it slip away.
"I see…" Ganyu murmured, nodding as if understanding something important.
Makoto suddenly placed her hand over Ganyu's and Shenhe's.
"You must follow your heart. Don't let pride or appearances make you miss out on an opportunity," Makoto said earnestly.
"Ganyu, Shenhe, this is the advice of someone who's been through it before."
"..."
---
When they returned to the living room, Luo Qing noticed that both Ganyu and Shenhe seemed more at ease.
He narrowed his eyes. What kind of spell did Makoto cast on them in there?
They all sat down for dinner. Luo Qing took the head seat, with Makoto and Theresa on either side of him. Rosalyne sat beside Makoto, while Ganyu and Shenhe were seated farther down the table.
As Ganyu glanced at Makoto and Theresa sitting so close to Luo Qing, Makoto's earlier words echoed in her mind. She seemed to gain a new resolve.
Just as they were about to begin eating, a sudden clap of thunder echoed from outside.
Luo Qing thought it might rain heavily, but he didn't pay it much attention.
Then came a heavy knock on the door.
"Who's there?" Luo Qing called out.
There was no response.
"Hmm?"
"I'll get it," Luo Qing said, rising from his seat.
He opened the door cautiously, only for his eyes to widen in shock.
This is bad.
Standing there was none other than the Raiden Shogun herself.
"You must have the wrong house," Luo Qing said quickly, closing the door in her face.
But before he could turn back, a bolt of lightning blasted the door open, sending it flying into the living room.
"You said… you don't know me?"
Through the smoke and sparks, a tall figure stepped forward.
Her long, slender legs, her poised yet commanding posture, her elegant bare shoulders, and her nurturing yet intimidating expression—it was unmistakably Raiden Ei.
The Shogun's eyes glowed with a deep purple light as she held her blade at the ready.
After traveling across nations to find Luo Qing, only for him to feign ignorance, her frustration was palpable.
"Well? Do you recognize me now?"
Before she could deliver her "lesson," a familiar voice rang out from the dining table.
"Ei, what are you doing? Put that sword down!"
"..."
Raiden Ei turned to the voice, and her gaze landed on the table.
The sight of several women staring at her in shock made her pause.
And then, her eyes fell on someone who froze her in her tracks.
Her expression turned blank.
"Big… Sister?!"
"Yes, it's me," Makoto said with a gentle smile. "It's been a while, hasn't it, Ei?"
"And first, put that sword down, will you?"
"Oh…"
The room fell silent as Raiden Ei, still dazed, slowly lowered her weapon.
Just then, the sound of light footsteps echoed from the staircase.
Another challenger?
Everyone turned toward the source of the noise.
Descending the stairs was a young girl in a sky-blue JK uniform, her black leather shoes clicking softly against the floor.
Kamisato Ayaka forced herself to maintain a calm smile as she descended, her nerves hidden beneath her composed demeanor.
No matter who's here, I cannot lose in terms of presence.
But as she reached the turn of the staircase and caught sight of the living room, her eyes widened in shock.
"Ra… Raiden Shogun?!"
