Genshin Impact: The God Incarnate

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: A Simple Solution

Vorthis smiled and said, "That's right, the last solution."

"This solution is simple and extremely effective."

Simple and extremely effective?

Could such a solution exist? Why hadn't Morax thought of it all this time?

If it were truly simple, it wouldn't have eluded him.

"Zennos, stop keeping me in suspense and tell me the solution already," Morax said, a bit exasperated.

Vorthis was testing his patience.

"Hehe."

"The solution is simple: go find Sister Guizhong!" Vorthis said with a grin.

Find Guizhong?

What kind of solution was that?

Did Guizhong know how to resolve this issue?

Well, it made sense. Guizhong was known for her wisdom in governance. Perhaps she could suggest an alternative to territorial expansion and war.

"Alright, I'll go seek counsel from the God of Dust Guizhong right away," Morax agreed with a nod.

As soon as he finished speaking, Morax stood up, as if ready to take off and transform into a streak of golden light heading straight for Guizhong's domain.

Vorthis hurriedly called out, "Wait, wait! What are you doing? Hold on!"

"Going to consult Guizhong. Is that wrong?"

Morax gave Vorthis a puzzled look.

Wasn't this exactly what Vorthis had suggested earlier? He couldn't think of any other reason to seek Guizhong's help regarding this matter.

"Are you being foolish? Do you think Guizhong, no matter how wise, can conjure up more land without conflict?"

"What could consulting her achieve?"

Wasn't it you who suggested finding Guizhong?

Morax crossed his arms, frowning slightly at Vorthis. His face conveyed mild displeasure.

"If there's no solution, then why bring her up? Are you joking about something so serious?"

Morax believed Vorthis was behaving childishly again.

In such a critical matter, how could one act so frivolously?

It seemed like Morax would need to find an opportunity to talk to Vorthis about his behavior and set him straight. A little guidance would turn him into a better leader.

"I'm not joking. You just didn't let me finish," Vorthis replied, shaking his head.

"We've already allied with Guizhong. Now that we're facing territorial constraints, why not move over to her domain?"

Vorthis dropped the suspense and directly shared his thoughts.

Move... over there?

Morax stroked his chin in thought.

From a rational perspective, this was indeed an effective solution.

Guizhong's domain was a fertile plain, perfect for farming and building cities.

The only downside was that it was too flat, lacking natural defensive terrain.

However, this wasn't a significant issue. Defensive structures could be built to fend off beasts and monsters.

As for threats from other gods? That would require Morax to intervene personally.

It was a feasible idea, and Morax found himself intrigued.

But he also felt it wouldn't be fair to Guizhong.

An alliance didn't mean she had to share her land with him and Vorthis.

"This doesn't seem fair to Guizhong," Morax said.

Spoken like the future God of Contracts.

Vorthis had anticipated Morax's response. But wasn't it possible that Guizhong might actually welcome such an arrangement?

Perhaps she had considered integrating their lands but hesitated to suggest Morax abandon his domain and relocate.

Vorthis smiled and said, "How do you know Guizhong would refuse?"

"I think she might actually want the same thing."

"By relocating, we'd provide Guizhong with the protection of two powerful gods. This would immediately deter any neighboring gods from making aggressive moves. It's a win for her."

Vorthis's reasoning was sound, but...

Morax was still hesitant.

Vorthis pressed on, "Why don't we go and ask Guizhong directly about this? I think she'll suggest the same solution."

"If she agrees, you mustn't object, alright?"

In the original timeline, Guizhong had pushed Morax into forming an alliance, even without a formal contract. They'd simply acted in unison.

Now, it was time to nudge this stubborn rock into action.

Morax sighed and finally relented.

"Very well, let's go consult Guizhong on this matter."

"Great, let's get moving!"

Vorthis created a barrier, just as he had before. This time, the barrier covered the entire mountainous region of Liyue.

The godly energy needed to maintain the barrier without attacks was negligible for Vorthis.

The two turned into streaks of golden and white light, heading toward Guizhong's domain.

Meanwhile, in Guizhong's Domain

Guizhong was feeling uneasy.

Her land hadn't escaped the notice of other gods.

Recently, there had been four rival gods near her territory. Now, only one remained. The other three had been defeated, forced to flee with their followers to seek refuge elsewhere on the continent.

The most unfortunate among them had lost everything, wandering alone in a pitiable state.

Surely, there would be a place for them somewhere in this vast world, wouldn't there?

The god who consolidated the western lands, Hastus, held the domain of swamps.

As the God of Swamps, Hastus had a unique ability: as long as he left even a trace of swamp mud, he could regenerate his power after defeat, becoming a formidable force again in a century.

His mastery over the swamp domain was unmatched, capable of transforming vast tracts of land into swampland.

This made him an incredibly difficult opponent.

His powers were particularly effective against Guizhong's Dust Domain, as dust could be converted into swamp mud, nullifying Guizhong's attacks.

Without relying on her domain's power, Guizhong's martial skills alone weren't enough to match Hastus.

Since consolidating the lands west of her domain, Hastus had been gradually encroaching on Guizhong's territory.

This left Guizhong feeling restless.

A territorial conflict seemed inevitable.
