Chapter 20: Chapter 020: Slash! The End
In just a few months, Liyue had undergone significant changes.
The farmland now far exceeded the area occupied by housing.
Looking at the verdant fields, Vorthis roughly estimated their scale. With the divine enhancement he applied to the vegetation, the yield would be sufficient to sustain Liyue's population of over 30,000.
Barring unforeseen events, in just a few more months, the people of Liyue would witness the first agricultural harvest in its history.
Thousands of years later, this scene would be immortalized in stories, passed down through books and storytellers for generations to come.
Cough cough. Vorthis could already imagine himself and Morax sitting in the Three Bowls, But Cannot Cross tavern, listening to Iron Tongue Tian narrate this tale.
The imagery was too grand, almost unbelievable.
As usual, Vorthis departed from Liyue and traveled to the domain of the God of Swords, Qingxu.
Qingxu spoke to Vorthis, "What I can teach you, I've already taught in full. The rest is up to your own comprehension. There isn't much more I can do for you."
"Today will be your final lesson."
Time had flown by—it had already been over a year.
Vorthis had been learning swordsmanship under Qingxu's guidance for that period.
Now, as a God himself, with a lifespan spanning eternity, Vorthis found himself less conscious of the passage of time than he once was.
Nonetheless, over the past year, Vorthis had learned numerous invaluable techniques from Qingxu.
He understood that swordsmanship wasn't about mere replication but rather one's personal understanding and interpretation of the sword.
"I'll admit, I'm a bit reluctant to leave."
"I didn't expect to finish learning everything from Brother Qingxu so quickly," Vorthis remarked.
Qingxu chuckled carefreely. "What's there to be reluctant about?"
"Just because the lessons are over doesn't mean our relationship ends here."
"As Gods, time is something we have in abundance."
"Visit often, but don't forget to bring wine," Qingxu added with a grin.
Vorthis couldn't help but laugh. Qingxu's fondness for wine was well known. After the final lesson, Vorthis planned to surprise Qingxu with a gift.
Without the incentive of lessons, Vorthis' naturally lazy nature meant he wouldn't visit Qingxu's domain frequently. If he didn't come, wouldn't Qingxu be left without his beloved wine? That thought amused Vorthis immensely.
"Alright, let's start today's practice," Vorthis said with a smile, concealing his surprise.
Qingxu nodded slightly and began the day's teaching—his ultimate lesson: the Blade of Spatial Severance.
This was the culmination of Qingxu's lifelong mastery of swordsmanship.
Qingxu demonstrated before Vorthis, wielding his Qingxu Sword. The blade shimmered with a cyan glow as Qingxu closed his eyes, then reopened them, locking onto a nearby mountain.
With a seemingly light swing of the sword, a cyan blade light flashed, and a gorge split the mountain in two!
The massive commotion sent countless rocks tumbling down the slopes.
Fortunately, they were in a remote wilderness with no inhabitants within hundreds of miles, so no one witnessed the incredible scene.
Clap clap clap! Vorthis applauded enthusiastically.
"As expected of the God of Swords! A strike to cleave the heavens and earth—truly remarkable!"
Qingxu smiled faintly. He knew that Vorthis' Broken Void Sword, capable of naturally cutting through space, would amplify the potential of this spatial technique far beyond its original power.
"Your turn," Qingxu said, looking at Vorthis.
Vorthis nodded, summoning his materialized Broken Void Sword.
The sword emitted a brilliant white glow. Vorthis channeled his divine God power into the blade, applying the techniques learned from Qingxu.
His eyes sharpened as he focused on another mountain.
With a resolute swing, he declared, "Slash!"
A white sword light slashed forth, leaving a scar spanning tens of kilometers across the terrain before him.
Staring at the massive cut, Vorthis was stunned.
He had only intended to test the move. To his surprise, it had unleashed such incredible power!
"Unbelievable," he murmured, gazing at the Broken Void Sword in his hand. The sheer might of the strike took his breath away.
Meanwhile, Qingxu remained calm, having anticipated this outcome.
"You've surpassed me with this strike, Brother Zennos," Qingxu said with a smile.
"As the God of Swords, I now feel rather unworthy of the title."
Vorthis knew Qingxu's remark was merely lighthearted. The carefree God of Swords was uninterested in power struggles and had never sought dominance.
During their time together, Vorthis had grown to admire Qingxu's personality.
He only wondered whether Qingxu had survived the perilous and brutal Archon War.
Though the ruins of Qingxu Pool persisted in Liyue's history, it was now little more than desolate wasteland. After the war, Liyue rebuilt the ruins to defend against invaders from the southwest, only to abandon it again during the age of peace among the Seven Nations.
Did Qingxu fall to another God in battle, or did he escape to the dark seas?
Sigh. Vorthis set aside these thoughts for now.
If Qingxu ever faced danger in the future, Vorthis wouldn't hesitate to lend a hand in gratitude for their bond.
"Haha, you're too kind, Brother Qingxu. This is just brute force."
"Your understanding of swordsmanship far surpasses that of a newcomer like me."
Vorthis replied with playful modesty, exchanging compliments with Qingxu.
Qingxu laughed heartily.
"Come on! To celebrate today, I've prepared a special gift for you," Vorthis said, patting Qingxu on the shoulder.
Qingxu was momentarily taken aback, not expecting Vorthis to have a gift for him.
What could it be? Qingxu guessed it might be wine, his one indulgence as a God.
