Genshin Impact: Reincarnated As Fenrir The God Of Chaos

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Dawn

Fenrir watched as the sun slowly rose over the horizon, its golden rays spilling across the sky. He squinted, bracing for the sting of the light, but instead, it wrapped around him in a comforting warmth. His eyes held steady, unblinking, as his thoughts wandered.

He searched for something—anything—after his death, but the memories were gone, as if erased. He reached for them, but they slipped through his mind like water, leaving behind nothing but an empty void.

With a soft sigh, the wind ruffled his black fur, but he felt no chill. The sensation was strange—nothing more than a faint tug against his coat, a reminder of the unfamiliar world he now inhabited.

His gaze shifted to the goblins, who were beginning to wake.

They grunted and growled, speaking in a language he couldn't understand, but it was clear they were communicating.

Fenrir tried to speak, but only a bark escaped his mouth. Frustration bubbled inside him. He tried again, and this time, something was different. A strange warmth spread through him, and words tumbled out.

"Hello?" His voice was soft, almost childlike. His green eyes widened. I can talk? The realization washed over him. Barely a breath had passed when the goblins froze, their attention snapping toward him. Curiosity gleamed in their eyes as they began to approach.

They spoke to him, their words foreign and incomprehensible at first. But slowly, the meaning began to unfurl, and with it, that familiar warmth flowed through him once again."

"The beast can speak!" The goblins jumped around excitedly.

Then, one of them, who appeared slightly older and more cautious, stepped forward, eyes narrowing.

"Young beast, can you protect us? We promise to serve you well." The goblin bowed, and the rest followed suit, kneeling in unison.

Protect them? I'm just a small pup. What am I supposed to do? The thought lingered for a moment, but the idea of not being alone was appealing.

"I will," he said finally, "but you must feed me." Then he froze. I can speak their language? What's going on? Do I have some kind of magical ability?

But his thoughts were shattered when the goblins danced happily, shouting, "Yes, master!"

What? They're calling me master now?

"Call me Fenrir," he said.

The goblins stopped dancing and bowed low. "Yes, Lord Fenrir," they answered in unison.

"That's better than calling me 'master,'" he muttered, lingering for a few moments. Then, a thought suddenly struck him. Wait, what gender am I? He looked down and let out a sigh of relief when he saw that his little brother was still there.

The goblins were confused by his actions, but soon they shouted, "Lord Fenrir, come, come! We'll show you home!" They waved their hands, urging him to follow.

Fenrir shook his fur and quickly fell in line with them as they traveled across the open field and into the forest. Suddenly, something crossed his mind. He scanned the wilderness but saw no other monsters in sight. What gives?

"Hey, you!" he asked, "Where are the enemies?"

"Enemies are scared of you, Lord Fenrir," the goblins replied, grinning.

Afraid of me? That piqued his interest.

"Why are they afraid of me?" he asked, curiosity in his voice.

"Lord Fenrir, your scent is powerful. It scares enemies. Many will be drawn to you if they seek protection, just like we did."

Fenrir didn't ask any more questions. They continued through the forest at a steady pace, taking breaks along the way. Several goblins captured a strange-looking pig, quickly fashioning a bed to lift it along with them.

Soon, the forest opened up, revealing a cluster of small homes nestled beside a large rock. The sound of laughter reached his ears as young goblins splashed and played in the shallow river, their green skin glistening in the sunlight.

This isn't like the goblins from that anime… His mind wandered for a moment, recalling the brutal creatures from Goblin Slayer. He frowned, watching the goblins laugh and play, realizing they weren't the monsters he expected. They're just… surviving. Like me.

Well, I've only been here a day, but I'm not about to get myself killed. As they got closer, the goblins crowded around, most of them at least bigger than him. Great. Hopefully, I'll grow fast.

"This is Lord Fenrir," one of the goblins announced. "We now serve him. In return, he will protect us."

The goblins erupted in celebration, raising their hands and hugging each other. They then lined up and bowed before him, offering treats. He tried to refuse, but they insisted. They began constructing a small home for him, and despite his initial hesitation, he couldn't help but feel grateful for their kindness.

Soon, a feast began. More goblins arrived, dragging in fresh kills from the hunt, their laughter and chatter filling the air. Music drifted through the clearing as goblins danced around the fire, their movements lively and carefree. The night unfolded like an unexpected celebration, and despite himself, Fenrir's tail twitched in amusement. Yet, as the festivities swirled around him, his thoughts drifted back to what he had left behind on Earth.

The scene shifted to the moonlit sky, where two figures atop a high rock stood motionless, silhouetted against the pale glow. From a distance, the soft clink of iron armor could be heard as the men on horseback surveyed the forest below, their eyes fixed on the darkened woods. Swords hung at their sides, catching the faint light as they waited, still as statues in the night.

"My lord, look! A fire!" one of them shouted, pointing toward the glow.

"That's where the goblins are hiding," the other said grimly. "Get the knights ready—we're killing them all."
