Brother, You Smell Amazing

The Lantern Rite atmosphere was growing more festive by the day.

Families began hanging red lanterns and decorative lights, and the streets of Liyue Harbor were filled with cheerful faces.

After a year of hard work, it was finally time to take a well-deserved rest.

Naturally, many merchants took full advantage of this golden opportunity for business, raking in Mora from the seasonal shopping frenzy.

The busy Yuehai Pavilion was gradually winding down as well, enjoying the final stretch of pre-New Year leisure.

Most significant tasks had already been delegated, allowing even Ganyu to take some time off.

Unlike previous years, when Ganyu, feeling lonely at home, would volunteer to handle extra workloads so others could relax, this year was different.

She wrapped up her duties early and returned home, where she and her fellow disciples decided to spend the Lantern Rite together at their master's home.

Both Shenhe and Jiang Ning were curious about the festival traditions.

After being away for quite some time, it was time to return; otherwise, Jiang Ning joked, "That woman will probably come looking for us herself."

On the way, they bumped into Zhongli, Hu Tao, and Madame Ping.

After some discussion, it was decided that everyone would head to Aozang Mountain to celebrate together.

Hu Tao and Xiangling were equal parts thrilled and nervous.

An adeptus' dwelling—what could it possibly be like? Even though Madame Ping was an adeptus, her down-to-earth demeanor made her seem less intimidating.

Meanwhile, Jiang Ning, Xiangling, and Yanfei went out shopping for the festival supplies.

Shenhe and Ganyu stayed behind to clean and decorate the house.

But Ganyu seemed distracted.

Shenhe, easily lifting a stack of chairs with one hand, passed through the main hall and noticed Ganyu standing motionless before a tall cabinet, feather duster in hand, lost in thought.

"What's wrong with this cabinet?" Shenhe asked.

Startled, Ganyu snapped back to reality. "Ah, it's nothing. Nothing at all."

Shenhe put down the chairs and approached her. "If something's bothering you, you can tell me."

When dealing with family, Shenhe's usual cold demeanor softened.

With her long dress and the side ponytail draped over her shoulder, she exuded a calm, graceful aura that felt especially homely.

But Ganyu simply shook her head. No way. This is something I absolutely cannot say.

Ever since her visit to Scent of Spring, Ganyu couldn't stop thinking about Ying'er's bold advice regarding Jiang Ning.

Every time she saw him, those words replayed in her mind.

She couldn't help but wonder: would Shenhe mind? What would she think? Ganyu's naturally gentle and indecisive nature left her wavering.

And the person behind Ganyu's dilemma, Ying'er, was at her shop nursing an aching waist.

The influx of Lantern Rite orders for both porcelain and perfume had left her swamped with work. Still, the sight of all that Mora kept her going.

Taking a break, Ying'er dragged a small stool to the shop entrance and watched the bustling street, letting her thoughts wander.

When Ganyu had visited her previously, Ying'er was almost scared out of her wits, thinking her shop was about to be shut down.

But the sight of Ganyu, so shy and fidgety, quickly cleared things up.

When Ganyu started asking roundabout questions about Jiang Ning, Ying'er connected the dots: a love triangle involving adepti disciples.

What a juicy plot! It was just too entertaining.

Ganyu's questions were straightforward enough, and Ying'er gave her sincere advice.

After all, if she messed things up for Ganyu, the next visit might involve more than just a warning.

Ying'er thought the whole situation was simple: Just go for it. If Ganyu hesitated any longer, Shenhe and Jiang Ning's kids might already be running around by the time she acted.

As she chuckled at the thought, Jiang Ning suddenly appeared at her shop's entrance. Ying'er's eyes lit up, and she gracefully stood, flashing a teasing smile.

"Welcome to Scent of Spring, little Jiang Ning! Did you miss me? Why don't you come inside? My place is quite spacious—if you're tired, you can even lie down and rest~."

Jiang Ning froze. Please tell me you meant 'sit.'

Looking at the predatory gleam in Ying'er's eyes, Jiang Ning sighed internally.

The shopping group had sent him to pick up porcelain bowls and cups.

Neither Hu Tao nor Xiangling dared to face Ying'er themselves.

They reasoned that, as a minor, Jiang Ning wouldn't be subjected to Ying'er's usual teasing.

How wrong they were.

"Uh, I'm here to buy porcelain bowls and cups. Just give me two sets—anything's fine," Jiang Ning said, eager to leave as quickly as possible.

But Ying'er grabbed his hand and pulled him inside.

"Oh, no, no, we can't be casual about this. Porcelain needs to be carefully selected. You have to feel its smoothness and texture with your own hands, savoring its craftsmanship. Come on, I'll show you how."

Jiang Ning kept his head down, avoiding any response that might encourage her.

Ying'er continued to smile mischievously. "Looks like little Jiang Ning is a complete novice. Don't worry, big sister is very experienced. I'll teach you step by step."

Jiang Ning remained silent, but internally he was panicking. How does she manage to turn everything into this?!

Eventually, Jiang Ning left the shop with two sets of porcelain, his mind a haze. A kind passerby had to redirect him after he almost wandered into a bush.

Back at her shop, Ying'er watched him leave with a satisfied grin. Glancing at the hand she had held, she brought it to her nose and sniffed it.

She blinked, a little surprised.

"Wow, little brother, you smell amazing."

Jiang Ning Smells Amazing

Jiang Ning eventually regrouped with Xiangling and Hu Tao, still dazed and confused.

Xiangling exchanged a glance with Hu Tao, who sighed theatrically and said, "See? Another poor boy victimized by Ying'er."

Xiangling added, "Did we overestimate Ying'er's sense of restraint?"

Hu Tao spread her hands in mock surrender.

"What else? That woman is something else. Last time, didn't she provoke Chongyun to the point his Pure Yang Spirit activated? He spent the entire afternoon soaking in ice water and eating popsicles."

"Terrifying... If not for the fact that Scent of Spring sells top-notch goods at such reasonable prices, I wouldn't want to go there for supplies either," Xiangling said, glancing at Jiang Ning apologetically.

"Anyway, it's done now. The Lantern Rite preparations have been exhausting this year... But why does everything have to fall on me? Everyone else gets time off, and Zhongli's still sipping tea and watching operas instead of helping me, the mighty Hall Master!"

Hu Tao pouted, sulking loudly.

Xiangling chuckled nervously. "Ahaha… Maybe the esteemed consultant has his reasons."

Hu Tao wrinkled her cute little nose but didn't complain further.

Considering the clues she'd gathered, Zhongli was undoubtedly an adeptus. How else could someone not age a single day in all these years?

"Fine, fine, with an adeptus around, our humble abode is truly honored. I'll be magnanimous this time."

"Anyway, let's get Jiang Ning back home. Something about his current state feels… off," Xiangling said.

Hu Tao nodded. "Agreed."

---

"Welcome back… Wait, what happened?" Ganyu was startled at the sight of Jiang Ning.

Fortunately, Shenhe was in the kitchen cooking.

If she had seen Jiang Ning in this state, she might have grabbed Calamity Queller and stormed out.

"Ahaha, it's a bit embarrassing… We sent Jiang Ning to Scent of Spring to pick something up on his own…" Hu Tao said, scratching the back of her head awkwardly.

Ganyu froze for a moment before understanding dawned. She sighed, waving them off. "Never mind. Leave Jiang Ning with me. I'll take him to rest. You two go help Shenhe."

Supporting Jiang Ning, Ganyu led him to the inner room. Xiangling immediately went to assist in the kitchen, and Hu Tao trailed behind her.

Moments later, a loud shout echoed through the house.

"Hu Tao! That's vinegar, not soy sauce! Get out of here! You're making it worse!"

Thus, Hu Tao was unceremoniously kicked out. Left with nothing to do, she wandered off to play with the fish in the courtyard.

Meanwhile, Ganyu laid Jiang Ning down inside the room, only to find herself staring at him in a daze.

Should I… really do what Ying'er suggested?

Just… get it over with while I can?

No, no! There are people outside. I have to wait until there are no guests around…

Without realizing it, Ganyu's mindset shifted from rejection to mere logistical concerns about timing.

She resolved to handle the matter before they returned home.

If her master caught wind of her current predicament, she'd die of embarrassment.

However, little Ganyu seemed to have forgotten one crucial detail: while she might conceal her situation, her master was bound to notice if she'd already… crossed a certain line.

---

By dinnertime, Jiang Ning had finally recovered.

Ying'er truly is terrifying. Despite everything he'd experienced with Shenhe, Ying'er had effortlessly reduced him to a clueless mess.

At the dinner table, Xiangling excitedly discussed the upcoming Lantern Rite.

"This year, Dad's planning to take Mom out for a rare outing, so Wanmin Restaurant will close for a few days. I'll join you guys at Aozang Mountain. Even Master will be there!"

"At that time, I'll take charge of the cooking. How about everyone makes a signature dish to share?"

Jiang Ning smirked. "Impossible. Cooking is out of the question. The only way I'll survive is by mooching off everyone else."

"You're so… lazy," Xiangling retorted, exasperated.

Hu Tao chuckled mischievously. "Then I'll make my special Ghostly Grand March! It's my signature dish, after all!"

"Ugh, no, please! Last time I ate your Ghostly Grand March, I swore I could see actual ghosts," Xiangling protested.

"Hmph! That's because you lack the taste to appreciate fine art," Hu Tao shot back.

"You mean ghosts like this?" Jiang Ning teased, summoning a wisp-like ghost that tapped Xiangling on the shoulder.

"Eek!" Xiangling yelped, whipping around to see the ghostly figure hovering behind her.

Even Guoba, who had been happily munching on pork knuckle, froze momentarily. Spotting Xiangling being chased around the courtyard by a blob of ectoplasmic goo, he relaxed and returned to devouring his food.

"Just Hu Tao's usual antics. Nothing new," he thought.

After about ten minutes of chaotic chasing, Jiang Ning finally recalled his spirit.

"You… you…" Xiangling gasped, trying to catch her breath while glaring at Jiang Ning.

Jiang Ning chuckled. "Haha, I heard you and Hu Tao play these games all the time."

"This isn't playing!" Xiangling wailed, close to tears.

Meanwhile, Hu Tao's plum blossom-shaped eyes sparkled with excitement.

"How did you do that? The spirits at the parlor usually can't touch people unless I use special rites. Teach me!"

Jiang Ning hesitated. "That… involves some unique authority. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to teach you…"

"Aw, what a shame…" Hu Tao pouted. "At least let me play with it!"

Jiang Ning shrugged. "Sure. Come on out, One, Two, Three!"

Three little ghostly blobs appeared, floating in the air.

Hu Tao cheered gleefully and chased after them, leaving chaos in her wake.

For a moment, the scene descended into utter pandemonium.

Save us! Someone call for help! Even ghosts can't handle Hu Tao!
