Shenhe truly lived up to being Cloud Retainer's disciple.
With just three sentences, she managed to trigger Chongyun's Pure-Yang Constitution, sending him into an overheated state.
Xingqiu quickly used Hydro energy to cool him down, but his gaze toward Chongyun became oddly suspicious.
He had always thought Chongyun was a serious and upright person, but now it seemed there was more to him—a reserved yet surprisingly fiery side.
Meanwhile, Xingqiu couldn't help but be awed by Shenhe's presence. What a remarkable woman.
She's like forged copper—unshakable and unyielding.
If Liyue's heavy industry ever needs a leader, and Shenhe isn't chosen, I'll be the first to protest.
Still, Xingqiu's curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to sit back and enjoy the drama.
Yanfei, however, had a different agenda.
As Liyue's top legal expert, she took her role seriously, especially when it came to protecting minors.
She launched into a thorough lecture, reprimanding Shenhe for her actions.
Shenhe, calm and unmoved, offered a single, resolute reply:
"Mutual affection naturally leads to marriage. What's wrong with that?"
Faced with Shenhe's uncompromising reasoning, Yanfei decided to change tactics.
She turned her focus to Jiang Ning instead.
"Tell me, do you need legal assistance?" she asked, her tone deadly serious.
Jiang Ning flushed with embarrassment. "N-no, I don't think so…"
Yanfei leaned closer. "If you're being coerced, just blink twice. Don't worry—I'll help you, free of charge."
For Yanfei, her junior brother was someone precious and untouchable.
She hadn't even had the chance to dote on him properly as his senior sister.
Her dreams of protecting and mentoring him now seemed shattered.
How could this pure and innocent boy have already been "stained" by someone else?
She imagined Shenhe—a tall, imposing figure—doing unspeakable things to her adorable junior brother late at night.
The thought made her brain short-circuit.
"I think Senior Sister Shenhe has a point… Anyway, let's eat. I'm hungry," Jiang Ning said, desperate to change the subject.
He was tired of being treated as the evening's entertainment.
Xiangling's eyes sparkled with curiosity, and she looked ready to demand more details.
As for Hu Tao… she had an odd expression—half excited, half upset.
And so, what was supposed to be a friendly gathering of old and new acquaintances turned into an awkward and strained meal, ending in an anticlimactic mood.
When the dinner finally concluded, Xingqiu carried an exhausted Chongyun on his back, giving Jiang Ning a peculiar glance as he left.
Xiangling and Hu Tao walked off together, eager to gossip about everything they'd heard.
Shenhe acted as if nothing unusual had happened, carrying herself with poise and calm.
Yanfei, however, refused to let the matter drop.
She resolved to study Liyue's legal codes more thoroughly, determined to educate both Jiang Ning and Shenhe in the future.
---
Walking through the streets of Liyue, Jiang Ning still felt as if he were dreaming.
Does this mean I've gained a nephew now?
Shenhe, holding his hand, spoke thoughtfully.
"In a few days, would you like to visit Chongyun's home with me? Mortals call it a family visit. Or, as they say, a trip to my maiden home?"
Jiang Ning blinked, snapping out of his daze. "Sure, if that's what you want."
"Of course. And…" Shenhe hesitated. "About what I said earlier—calling you my husband…"
Jiang Ning smiled. "It's fine. When the time comes, I'll marry you, Senior Sister."
In truth, Jiang Ning had often misheard Shenhe during battles when she called out "Fujun Zhenxing" (Talisman Manifestation), instead interpreting it as "Fujun Zhenxing" (My Husband is Incredible).
How could anyone resist a white-haired celestial beauty calling them "husband" and praising them? Jiang Ning admitted to himself that he couldn't.
Shenhe's smile brightened. "Alright."
---
Before they knew it, they arrived at Scent of Spring.
At the entrance stood Ying'er, the shopkeeper.
Spotting Shenhe holding hands with a silver-haired boy, Ying'er immediately guessed who he was. This must be Shenhe's famous junior brother, she thought.
"Scent of Spring… Is this a proper shop?" Jiang Ning asked, skeptical.
"Of course. They sell porcelain. I've bought a few pieces here before," Shenhe explained.
"You buy porcelain, Senior Sister?" Jiang Ning was surprised.
Though Shenhe had grown competent at household chores, she still had a tendency to overspend.
To avoid her mismanaging finances, Jiang Ning and Ganyu usually handled grocery shopping themselves.
Ying'er greeted them warmly. "Shenhe, is this your junior brother? Would you like to come in and have a look? I promise our porcelain will leave you enchanted—and maybe a little sore from carrying it home!"
Jiang Ning frowned. "Is this really a proper shop?"
Ying'er chuckled, covering her mouth. "Of course! Our porcelain may not rival imperial kilns, but it's beautiful, affordable, and comes in countless styles. You'll be captivated once you start browsing."
"And the 'sore from carrying it home' part?" Jiang Ning asked suspiciously.
Ying'er smiled slyly. "Isn't it obvious? After buying porcelain, you'll have to carry it back home. It's a long walk—your back is bound to feel it."
Ah. She's a master teaser, Jiang Ning thought, recalling Mondstadt's Lisa. Mondstadt has Lisa, and Liyue has Ying'er. Are there similar big-sister types in Inazuma and Sumeru too?
---
While Jiang Ning browsed the shop, Ying'er whispered to Shenhe, "Did my advice help last time?"
Shenhe nodded. "It was very helpful. I've already succeeded."
Intrigued, Ying'er pressed further. "Which lucky young man managed to win your heart?"
Shenhe pulled Jiang Ning over and answered matter-of-factly, "My junior brother."
For a moment, Ying'er didn't process the response. "Ah, yes, your junior brother. He's Liuli Pavilion's favorite, isn't he? And?"
Shenhe clarified, "The young man you're asking about is my junior brother."
Ying'er froze, her usual coquettish smile faltering. Wait, isn't he still underage? How did this happen?!
Suddenly, she remembered why Ganyu had visited her shop recently—an impromptu fire safety inspection followed by a stern lecture in her office. So this was the reason!
Watching Jiang Ning innocently examine vases, Ying'er's mind raced.
She thought back to the advice she had given Shenhe.
Judging by Shenhe's calm demeanor, it seemed she had already acted on it.
Excitement bubbled up in Ying'er's chest.
What she had initially imagined as a romantic tale of a celestial beauty and a noble gentleman was turning out to be a far more dramatic and unconventional love story.
A senior-junior relationship? A forbidden dynamic? This is so much more thrilling!
Deciding she needed more details, Ying'er pulled Shenhe aside for a private chat.
To Jiang Ning, she offered a quick excuse:
"Since you're Shenhe's chosen one, consider this my gift. Pick out a pair of matching porcelain pieces to take home."
Jiang Ning happily accepted and resumed browsing, unaware of the conspiratorial whispers happening nearby.
Not long after, Shenhe returned looking satisfied, and Jiang Ning had chosen his porcelain pieces. He placed them in his magical Serenitea Pot for safekeeping before waving goodbye to Ying'er.
Ying'er really is a good person, Jiang Ning thought as they left. Giving us free gifts like that.
Ying'er, however, watched them go with a mischievous glint in her eyes. So the little puppy is actually a wolf in disguise? Fascinating.
Shenhe, oblivious to any mischief, felt only gratitude toward Ying'er.
Not only had her advice helped Shenhe strengthen her bond with Jiang Ning, but Ying'er had also become something of a mentor.
Perhaps I'll seek her guidance again in the future.
At the end of a long day, Ganyu greeted Jiang Ning, who was feeding fish in the courtyard, before heading back to her room.
By now, her evening routine had become second nature: changing her clothes, replacing the talismans on her body, and pouring the energy collected in the talismans into a bottle.
But as she reached this step, her expression froze.
Wait a second… where did she put that bottle last night?
Ganyu checked the stored bottles in her Vision's space and realized something was off—one bottle was missing.
It was the one she couldn't recall putting away properly yesterday!
Panic set in as she frantically retraced her steps from the night before. After a moment of frantic recall, inspiration struck: It must be in the kitchen cabinet.
Please let no one have found it… she thought desperately.
Based on what she'd heard, Jiang Ning had bought breakfast that morning, and they'd eaten lunch outside. This meant Shenhe hadn't started cooking yet either.
Rushing to the kitchen, Ganyu found Shenhe unpacking groceries she'd just bought, preparing to cook. Ganyu sighed in relief.
"What's wrong?" Shenhe asked, noticing Ganyu's odd expression.
"N-nothing," Ganyu stammered. "I just came to grab something."
Trying to appear calm, Ganyu opened the cabinet, where she immediately spotted the familiar bottle. But her relief was short-lived.
Good news: the bottle was there.
Bad news: it was empty.
And judging by how clean the bottle looked, someone had definitely used it.
"What happened to what was in here?" Ganyu asked stiffly, holding up the bottle.
Shenhe glanced at it briefly and replied, "I don't know."
Ganyu's face instantly turned crimson.
If it wasn't Shenhe… then there was only one other person in this house: her junior brother, Jiang Ning.
If he had just poured it out, I could have accepted that, Ganyu thought, but judging by this, he must have drunk it. Ahhhh!
The realization hit her like a lightning bolt, sending a wave of embarrassment through her entire body.
This was the ultimate nightmare.
No, wait—Jiang Ning probably didn't know what it was. As long as she didn't say anything, she could still salvage this situation.
Clinging to this thin shred of hope, Ganyu tried to calm her pounding heart.
At that moment, Jiang Ning's voice echoed from the hallway:
"Senior Sister, I drank the milk in this bottle. That's okay, right?"
"What?!" Ganyu nearly dropped the bottle.
"Oh, and that milk was really delicious. I don't know why, but after drinking it, my cultivation even improved a little," Jiang Ning continued cheerfully.
"Senior Sister, can you get more of it for me? Senior Sister? Are you listening?"
Jiang Ning waved a hand in front of Ganyu, who seemed completely zoned out.
Finally snapping back to reality, Ganyu blurted out, "T-that wasn't milk!"
"Huh?" Jiang Ning blinked, confused.
"Then what was it?"
Realizing she couldn't possibly explain the truth, Ganyu panicked and said the first thing that came to mind:
"It—it was goat milk!"
"Oh, that explains it. No wonder it tasted different from regular milk," Jiang Ning said, nodding in understanding.
Jiang Ning had never tried goat milk before, having heard it was supposed to taste strong.
But this had been surprisingly pleasant.
"So, Senior Sister, where did you get it? Did you add something special to it? Can I drink more for my training?"
Ganyu's face burned even brighter.
She tried using adeptal energy to suppress her blush, but it was futile.
"N-no, you can't. It's… made with very rare ingredients, so it's not easy to make more," she stammered, her excuse full of holes.
Jiang Ning, however, didn't seem suspicious, though he looked a bit disappointed. "Oh, that's too bad. But it's okay, as long as drinking it didn't cause any problems…"
Ganyu wanted to cry.
"No… no problems. Just drink it… it's fine…"
Not that you'll ever have the chance to drink it again! she screamed internally.
From now on, she resolved to keep all future bottles safely hidden or dispose of them once the talismans' stored energy dissipated.
As if things couldn't get worse, Shenhe passed by and commented, "Ganyu, your heart is racing. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine!" Ganyu nearly shouted, wishing the ground would swallow her whole.
---
Knowing that her precious "coconut milk" had been drunk by her junior brother left Ganyu in a daze.
Strangely, though, her body felt even warmer than before, and her condition seemed to have worsened.
What should she do? The ancient texts offered no guidance, and her mother was off wandering the world, nowhere to be found.
She had no one to ask for help.
Unless… she turned to her mother's old friend, the adeptus Cloud Retainer?
Ganyu immediately dismissed the idea.
That would mean every adeptus in Liyue would hear about it.
Life was hard. With a heavy sigh, Ganyu resigned herself to her fate.
