Genshin Impact: I'm a Slime

Chapter 18: Chapter 18

"So, what should we do now?"

As Lumine stepped out of the tavern, she suddenly felt a wave of drowsiness.

"It's time to go back to the inn and sleep."

Paimon hugged the round, squishy Famas.

"Famas, being a Slime suddenly seems pretty nice. Soft, warm, and no worries about going hungry."

Paimon陶醉ly squeezed Famas, burying her face in his body.

"Paimon, that's rude!"

Seeing Paimon clinging to Famas, Lumine quickly intervened.

"Ah, hot, hot, hot!"

The temperature of Famas's body began to rise, startling Paimon into letting go.

"Famas, you're so mean! My hands are almost burned!"

Paimon waved her hands in the air, her little face puffed up in anger.

Famas, perched on Lumine's shoulder, watched Paimon's reaction with a strange expression. Paimon knew full well that Famas was teasing her on purpose.

"Hmph, how dare you bully the cutest being in Teyvat! Take this, Famas!"

Paimon grabbed a small stick from somewhere, pretending it was a sword, and flew toward Famas, thrusting it at him.

But as soon as the stick touched Famas's soft body, it was completely swallowed up, along with a part of Paimon's hand. No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't pull her hand free.

"Ah, I surrender, I surrender! Please, no!"

Feeling the rising temperature on her hand, Paimon immediately begged for mercy.

Famas relented, allowing Paimon to pull her hand back. He then ejected the stick from his body, hitting Paimon right on the forehead.

"Ah, you're so mean… This time, I'll definitely win. Take this…"

Amidst the playful bickering, the group finally made it back to their usual inn and slept until noon the next day.

---

Knock, knock, knock.

"We're the Mondstadt City Defense Force of the Knights of Favonius. May we ask you a few questions?"

Lumine, who had just woken up and was brushing her teeth, stuck her head out of the bathroom. She saw Paimon lounging around and Famas seriously studying the Holy Lyre.

"Famas, hide the lyre quickly!"

Lumine's eyes widened, her mouth still full of toothpaste foam, as she frantically gestured to the red Slime on the bed.

Famas's body shrank, and the Holy Lyre was swallowed into his form. Lumine quickly finished brushing her teeth and, along with Paimon, opened the inn room door.

"Hello, Mondstadt City Defense Force, Lawrence."

The knight named Lawrence placed his right hand across his chest, saluting Lumine.

Famas remembered this knight, Lawrence, with his blond hair and blue eyes. He was one of the guards who stood watch at Mondstadt's gates day and night, and he was also a temporary examiner for the Knight's Handbook.

"Ah, it's the Traveler! Are you staying here?"

After seeing everyone in the room, Lawrence's tense expression relaxed.

Lumine and Famas exchanged a glance, about to speak, but Paimon pouted and spoke first, "Yes, is there something you need?"

"Ah, well, Outrider Amber has lost something very important. I'm here to investigate any strangers who recently entered the city."

Lawrence glanced around the room and nodded.

"But since it's you, Traveler, there's no need…"

"What did Amber lose?"

Relieved that the inquiry wasn't about the Holy Lyre, Lumine relaxed.

"Well…"

Lawrence looked troubled, hesitating for a moment before nodding. "It's Amber's Vision."

Lumine didn't fully grasp the importance of a Vision, but Paimon gasped, "A Vision is an external elemental organ that stays connected to its owner. How could it be lost?"

"We're not sure either. When Amber reported it to Acting Grand Master Jean, she was in tears. She said a strong gust of wind blew by, and while she was busy adjusting her clothes, she noticed the belt holding her Vision had snapped. A green figure flashed by, and after that, she couldn't sense her Vision anymore."

"A green figure…"

Famas felt a headache coming on. The Vision had indeed been stolen by Venti. If the owner came knocking, the Anemo Archon's reputation would be ruined.

"Could it be him?"

Lumine and Paimon both looked at Famas, suspecting the bard named Venti. Famas, however, subtly shook his head at Lawrence.

"We haven't seen any green figures."

"Ah, is that so, Mr. Famas?"

Lawrence nodded.

"In that case, I won't disturb you further. I still need to question the other guests."

Lawrence, looking entirely convinced, opened the door and bid the trio farewell.

Famas stood behind the door, peeking out to watch Lawrence head toward the rooms at the end of the hallway. He then quickly closed the door and spat out the Holy Lyre from his body.

"Famas, do you know something?"

Lumine looked at Famas's strange behavior, while Paimon sat on the bed, giving Famas a knowing look.

"I get it now. You and that bard Venti are both master thieves from Liyue. You snuck into the city with us to steal the Holy Lyre and Visions!"

Paimon struck a classic detective pose, pointing her tiny finger at Famas.

"The truth is clear! Master Thief Famas!"

"Ouch!"

As Paimon accused Famas, Lumine flicked her forehead with a bent finger.

"Don't make wild guesses, Paimon. What master thief? Compared to Famas, our origins are more suspicious, aren't they?"

Lumine looked firmly at Famas, then picked up the Holy Lyre from the floor.

"Ah, I was just lightening the mood with a joke!"

Paimon rubbed her forehead.

"Venti… is it really that bard? But why would he steal Amber's Vision?"

Lumine turned to Famas, her light yellow eyes filled with questions.

"Hmm, I don't know either. But we're meeting Venti tonight, so we can just ask him then."

Famas suppressed the urge to expose Venti's crimes, his mind preoccupied with other thoughts.

"Amber cried? Ah! I wonder what that scene was like…"
