Game of Thrones: Rise of the Supreme Dragon Queen

Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Hatching a Dragon Once More

After taking office, Sir Butcher's first action was to review the household records of the Great Pyramid's guards.

The Yellow Cloaks guarding the pyramid were all from Yunkai. They had families, businesses, elders, and children. They had only recently been conscripted due to the Great Wise Master's extreme recruitment efforts.

Using Yunkai's household records, Sir Butcher easily located most of the guards' families and brought them to the square in front of the Great Pyramid. He then called out to the soldiers inside, demanding their surrender.

If the Yellow Cloaks inside refused, it meant their families would lose their status as "ordinary free citizens."

To put it bluntly, any guard who refused to surrender would no longer have their family protected under Queen Daenerys' Code of Law.

With this, Sir Butcher saw an opportunity.

Deep down, he longed to make the Ghiscari taste his "Cleon's 18 Techniques of Pig Slaughter," but he was afraid—afraid of Queen Daenerys, afraid of her dragons, afraid of her laws.

Who wouldn't fear a queen ruthless enough to lash even herself into a bloody mess?

Still, he had his own ways of dealing with the Ghiscari.

He selected boys and men over the age of thirteen from among the guards' families, shackled their feet, handed each a short sword and a wooden shield, and then forced them to charge at the Great Pyramid.

Of course, he personally led the rearguard. Anyone who resisted was cut down on the spot.

In just two hours, the Great Pyramid fell.

The battle was brutal. Over a thousand people died, dozens went mad, and more than two hundred Yellow Cloaks, after surrendering, chose to take their own lives.

Watching their fathers, brothers, sons, and nephews die before them—or even by their own arrows—was unbearable.

Had they fought against the Mother of Dragons' army, they wouldn't have feared heavy casualties. Many had already steeled themselves for death. But being forced to slaughter their own kin was an agony they couldn't endure.

By the time the Great Pyramid was taken, nearly every Yellow Cloak had suffered a mental breakdown.

Riding the wave of victory, Sir Butcher, exhilarated and tireless, immediately set his sights on the next pyramid.

Using the same method, he captured the second pyramid. Then the third. Then the fourth.

By noon the next day, when Daenerys returned to Yunkai on Drogon's back, she found that all the pyramids had already fallen.

And not a single one of her soldiers had been lost—not even a single arrow or drop of wildfire had been spent.

"Ser Breaker-of-Chains, your efficiency is truly impressive!" Daenerys praised sincerely.

She meant it. Before, her best idea had been to send surrendered mercenaries and Ghiscari warriors to attack the pyramids.

Even then, she would have felt guilty, believing it to be cruel treatment of prisoners.

The twisted method Ser Breaker-of-Chains had devised—forcing the guards to battle their own kin—had never even crossed her mind.

Most importantly, he had not broken any laws.

Those people, officially, were conscripted militia serving forced labor as punishment for their relatives' crimes. Wasn't it only natural for militia to fight for their queen?

"It is my honor to serve you, Your Grace." Sir Butcher grinned hideously.

"Ser Cleon, once we take Meereen's pyramids, with the merits you've earned this past month, you will surely be granted the title of Count. As a Count, you'll have the right to choose your own fief. You will be the first true noble under my reign." Daenerys encouraged him with a smile.

"Thank you, Your Grace! Long live Queen Daenerys! Long live the Mother of Dragons!" Sir Butcher shouted in excitement.

"By the way, is the Great Wise Master dead?"

"Dead. Burned himself alive. I also captured two other Wise Masters and a warlock from the Great Pyramid. The witch keeps demanding to see you."

"Alright, I'll see her when I have time," Daenerys said casually with a nod.

After Cleon left, Daenerys began directing her soldiers in moving her "royal palace."

Well, a large tent and two wooden chests filled with clothing, blankets, and medicine.

It was a humble setup.

"Why leave the Great Pyramid to Cleon?" Jhiqui grumbled unhappily as they rode through the western district.

"It's not for Cleon. The Great Pyramid is the administrative center. I won't be staying in Yunkai permanently, so I only need a temporary residence. The Great Pyramid should remain the governor's seat," Daenerys explained.

With her silver mare left in Meereen, she was now riding a yellow horse. Before her, three thousand Unsullied marched in perfect formation; behind her, eight thousand armored knights rode in step.

Their procession was grand and intimidating. Ghiscari citizens peeked through their doors, eyes filled with one part reverence, eight parts fear, and a final, deeply buried part—hatred.

Jhiqui glanced around, pouting. "The people on this street don't like us. But near the Great Pyramid, where the new free citizens live, they love you. I still think you should stay there."

This had everything to do with Yunkai's layout. The eastern district was home to landlords who had migrated from the Great Grass Sea. The western district, by the sea, was the commercial hub.

And Daenerys despised the Yunkai landlords who had slaughtered over fifty thousand slaves.

She had not spared a single one.

Using the household records, she identified every landowning family from the Great Grass Sea. Every male over ten years old was imprisoned, and all their property was confiscated.

This time, Daenerys had been harsher—setting the male age limit at ten.

After all, the slavers had never spared slaves just because they were young or lacked the power to resist.

In fact, even slave infants had been strung up in the corpse forest.

Thus, entire blocks in the eastern district were emptied. The land was reclaimed by Daenerys and redistributed to newly freed slaves for free housing.

Later, once she had time, she would formally register Yunkai's new citizens, redistribute land, and allow the freedmen to purchase their own homes.

Yunkai's main industry had been the trade of bed slaves. Most of the training centers, where boys and girls were taught the seven arts of pleasure, were in the western district. Supporting businesses had also gathered there.

Daenerys understood that even the slavers who trained bed slaves had likely stained their hands with the blood of those fifty thousand. But she couldn't punish them without legal grounds.

It had been the Wise Masters who ordered the massacre. It had been the landlords who carried it out. As for the other slavers and Yunkai citizens, whether or not they had supported the atrocity in their hearts, they had not directly participated.

And Daenerys had no reason to punish them unjustly.

Unless she invoked the royal authority of the "Queen's Wrath"—perhaps following the example of Lord Cao and dealing with XC District as he had handled Xuzhou in the wake of his father's death.

But Daenerys had always been committed to building a society that combined "rule of law" with "rule of reason."

A ruler could enjoy privileges, but they must never condemn out of malice or absolve out of love.

In her view, if a transmigrator intended to play the game of kingly conquest, they had to be prepared to "bring a better world" to the people.

If they couldn't do that, they shouldn't take up the burden. With past-life experience and modern knowledge, they could easily become a wealthy merchant and enjoy life however they pleased.

For now, she put the merchants of XC District on ice.

Yes, she made a note of them in her little book. Once she finished dealing with the great slave lords, she would make time to properly "discipline" those scoundrels.

Seeing Jhiqui still chattering away, Daenerys deliberately lowered her voice and spoke with a sinister tone: "The Great Wise Master's entire family—over a hundred people—was sacrificed to the Sorcerer-Witch at the Great Pyramid. It has nearly overlapped with Hell itself. Who knows? Maybe demons will roam inside at midnight. Do you still dare to stay there?"

"Really?" The centaur handmaiden shuddered. Not even the afternoon sun could warm her anymore. "Then let Cleon stay there. Just yesterday, 1,300 Ghiscari died unjustly. Their spirits will probably come for him in the dead of night."

"None of the Ghiscari died unjustly," Daenerys corrected her.

The pyramid Daenerys had chosen as her royal residence was only 100 meters tall, but it was newly built. Its outer layer of yellow bricks was freshly laid, and its interior was lavishly decorated with elegance and grandeur.

This pyramid had belonged to Yunkai's wealthiest man—Yazdan the Dung Lord.

The Quaggaz family's pyramid had stood for 5,000 years, but after Yazdan rose to power, he had the entire structure renovated.

He even purchased the entire district stretching one kilometer westward to the sea, building a grand plaza that connected to the water. The plaza was filled with bustling shops, and along the coast, an exclusive dock was established.

In terms of scenery, economic value, and comfort, the Quaggaz family's pyramid was far superior to the Great Pyramid, which had been tainted by the deaths of thousands. It was a much better choice for Daenerys' palace.

"Hmm, this place is perfect for a retreat," Daenerys mused, standing on the palace's upper terrace, gazing westward at the shimmering sea. The vast horizon gave her a sense of holding the entire Slaver's Bay in her grasp.

"Since it's in the west of the city, let's call it 'Cining Palace'!" she said with a mischievous grin.

If only there were a Nanny Rong to go with it—hehehe.

As the thought crossed her mind, Daenerys chuckled to herself, leaving Jhiqui utterly baffled.

In truth, the real Cining Palace wasn't built by the Qing Dynasty at all—it had originally been a Ming-era residence for an imperial concubine.

"Khaleesi, come quickly—something's happened!"

That afternoon, while Daenerys was in the front hall discussing the fate of war prisoners with her generals, a handmaiden from the rear chambers suddenly shrieked in alarm.

"What happened?" Daenerys halted the meeting and strode to the back hall.

"Khaleesi, your egg—it's cracking!" Jhiqui cried out.

"What do you mean my egg is cracking?" Daenerys' expression shifted as she rushed to the bedside. There, in the wooden chest, the bronze dragon egg had developed a thin fissure, and the crack was visibly expanding before her eyes.

"Is this… a natural birth?" Daenerys muttered, puzzled.

Acting swiftly under her orders, a group of Unsullied constructed a charcoal furnace in the rooftop garden. With the aid of bellows, the charcoal burned white-hot, and the iron mesh above the fire glowed red.

"Why are we burning the dragon egg?" Morono, commander of the Free Wing infantry, asked in confusion.

The half-meter-wide furnace seemed like a prison of fire demons, spewing long tongues of crimson flame through the mesh. The rolling heatwaves sent Daenerys' silken silver hair flowing wildly. The fire's glow cast her face in a dazzling, almost ethereal radiance.

"A dragon that hasn't been tempered by fire is defective," she explained while placing the egg onto the iron mesh with both hands.

Boom!

Flames instantly engulfed her silk sleeves, slithering up her flawless white arms like fiery pythons. Within moments, her entire upper body was consumed by the blaze.

Fortunately, the chainmail beneath her clothes preserved her modesty.

Her hands, pressed firmly against the dragon egg, sizzled like squid grilling on an iron plate, while the sharp scent of burning flesh spread through the air.

"Your Grace, the heat is too intense! Doesn't it hurt?" Red-haired Layla asked worriedly.

Even as she spoke, her tongue felt dry, as if she herself were the one being roasted.

"I didn't expect this type of charcoal furnace to produce flames even the Unburnt cannot withstand," the burly Belwas murmured, rubbing his hands nervously.
