Chapter 32: 32. Straight Guy Chat
jason Liu spent the whole afternoon at a warehouse on the outer ring road, receiving a delivery of gel pens, refills, and A4 paper.
The shipment included 10,000 gel pens, packed in five large boxes that were about half a person's height. There were also 100,000 refills, packed in another five big boxes. The delivery driver brought the truck straight into the warehouse and unloaded everything.
Lastly, 10,000 sheets of A4 paper arrived. Each sheet weighed about 4.4g, making the total around 44 kg, also packed in a big box.
When the delivery driver left, Jason checked the time; it was 7 pm. He ordered some takeout to eat at the warehouse, and by the time he finished, it was already past 8 pm.
He planned to send the goods to Westeros later, so he played on his phone for a bit.
Buzz—
His phone vibrated. A notification popped up on WeChat: "Someone wants to add you as a friend. Accept?"
Jason opened WeChat and saw the request from "XH39218," with a note saying "old classmate." Feeling a bit puzzled, he added them.
Soon, he received a message.
XH39218: Good evening, old classmate!
Jason Liu: Who is this?
XH39218: We saw each other a few days ago. You haven't forgotten me already, have you?
Jason Liu: Oh, are you Lin Xiaohan?
XH39218: Yes, it's me. My WeChat ID is in our class group too. You really didn't recognize it?
In a high-end apartment in Zheng City, Lin Xiaohan, dressed in white, furry pajamas, was lying on her bed, surprised that Jason didn't recognize her WeChat ID. She wondered if he was pretending.
Jason Liu: I haven't paid much attention to the class group, so I didn't know your WeChat ID. I'll update your name now.
Jason updated her name in his contacts.
Lin Xiaohan: Fine, I believe you. I wanted to exchange WeChat IDs last time, but you left so quickly. That's why I found you in the class group.
Jason Liu: Haha, I was in a hurry that day.
Lin Xiaohan: Sure, if you say so.
Remembering how Jason awkwardly ran away after being teased by her friend, Lin Xiaohan chuckled.
Jason Liu: Did you need something?
Jason was confused. He hadn't spoken to Lin Xiaohan since graduation two years ago, and this was only their first real interaction since then.
Lin Xiaohan: I just wanted to apologize. My friend Jiang Chuchu was joking with you last time. She likes to mess around, so please don't take it seriously.
Jason Liu: It's fine. Your friend seems pretty energetic, haha...
Thinking about that playful girl gave Jason a headache. As an introvert, he wasn't good at handling jokes, especially from lively girls. He hoped he wouldn't have to deal with her again.
Lin Xiaohan: Good to know you're not upset. I thought you were angry when you left so fast.
Jason felt embarrassed. He wasn't angry, just uncomfortable. He wasn't good at dealing with girls, so he avoided them when things got awkward.
Jason Liu: No, I wasn't angry.
After that, the conversation fell silent. Jason didn't know what to say next. He had never chased after a girl before and wasn't confident about it. He didn't want to risk rejection, so he often just stayed quiet.
Meanwhile, Lin Xiaohan waited for a message, surprised at how quiet Jason was. Usually, when she chatted with guys, they would keep the conversation going.
Finding his silence unusual, she became even more interested. Jason Liu had left a good impression last time, appearing both clean-cut and handsome in his Armani outfit. He seemed successful, which intrigued her. That's why she reached out today – she wanted to know more about him. The apology was just an excuse.
After waiting a bit longer, she couldn't help but ask.
Lin Xiaohan: Is this how you always chat?
Seeing the message, Jason, who had been playing a game on his phone, replied.
Jason Liu: Um, is there a problem?
Lin Xiaohan: Don't you have anything else to say?
Jason Liu: Like what?
Lin Xiaohan: Anything...
Jason glanced at the time. It was getting late, and he needed to start delivering goods to Westeros. So, he replied:
Jason Liu: When do you usually go to bed?
Lin Xiaohan: If it's early, around 10 pm. If it's late, a little past 11 pm.
Jason Liu: It's almost 10 now. You should sleep. I'm going to bed soon too.
Lin Xiaohan stared at his message, her expression changing. He really went offline after that. It left her both frustrated and amused. She thought, "This guy isn't pretending; he really is this straightforward." Remembering his awkward behavior from last time, Lin Xiaohan confirmed that Jason was truly an innocent, straightforward guy.
She messaged her friend Jiang Chuchu, complaining about him.
Back at the warehouse, Jason Liu transported all the pens and paper to Westeros after a few trips. He ended up sleeping there.
The next morning, Jason woke up and went downstairs, yawning. Martha and Lena, along with the seven people they hired and Bella, an 11-year-old girl, were already working.
"Sir, when did you come back? We didn't notice…" Lena asked, surprised to see Jason.
