Game of Thrones: Ghost of the Uchiha

Chapter 24: Chapter 24 : Dark Sister

< Daenerys POV >

Two Days Earlier.

'Just like we practiced'

With a deep breath, my gaze became focused. The only thing in my world during this moment was the target in the distance.

My left hand carried a slight weight from holding three shurikens. Following the pace of my breathing, I move one slowly to my right hand.

I start with the first throw, then came the second and finally the third.

The sounds of it hitting the target resounded in my ears, and when I came too, what I saw made me feel like I was floating in the clouds.

All three shurikens were now impaled into the red center.

'YES! I can finally hit the bullseye within 20 meters' Happiness overwhelmed me.

*Clap Clap*

Turning around was my brother Viserys. He just smiled and clapped at my performance.

"Well done sister, soon you will become a great female warrior." The words were soft and happy.

"Brother, why are you here?" my heart felt sweet hearing compliments from my brother, I am still very grateful for whatever Madara had done, he brought me back my brother I remember.

"Dany, I had asked Illyrio to bring me many different books from Westeros and even had an expedition sent to Valyria." His emotions which were still happy, gradually turned serious when mentioning Valyria.

"However only a few of those expedition members came back and told us the horrors they found. But they were able to grab a gleaming silver sword. I recognized it from our ancestral books. It is Dark Sister."

A smirk couldn't leave his smile after mentioning Dark Sister, "I came to let you know that next to the sword was a book, talking of the great deeds of Visenya Targaryen.

I read some of it and saw she was a great female warrior who rode a dragon and fought with the sword they brought back... and I thought you would be interested."

"She sounds awesome!" I had started to fantasize myself as a dragon rider ever since I wanted a place next to Madara. Although dragons are extinct now, I still hope to hatch a dragon egg of my own.

If I can learn more information and get more inspiration I would gladly read about it.

Images flashed in my mind, of Madara who started training even earlier than me, and much more.

"Brother how does Madara do it?." I ask simply, I really couldn't understand how someone my age could be as strong as Madara.

"Madara?." He looked at me genuinely confused.

'Why is he confused?... WAIT'

My eyes opened wide, and my mouth couldn't close, all the while my heart was pounding fast.

'I just told him about Daemon's new name... Madara wouldn't get mad at me would he?.' Even tears started welling up in my eyes, pressing my hands to wipe them.

"Woo... Don't hate me, Madara!." I just cried loudly, the thought of me betraying his new name had me feeling like the world was falling.

"Sister. What's wrong with you."

I felt myself being embraced, but I didn't feel warm or comforted, it brought back memories of when he beat me, and I could only tremble.

All the training I had at this moment felt so worthless. I still couldn't stop thinking of this or even having the idea to defend myself.

I believe he also noticed my trembling as he quickly left and stepped back.

Feeling the embrace gone, I started to collect myself.

I also never wanted to cry again, yet I couldn't help but do it whenever there was a problem with Madara in my mind.

'No, those illusions training he does for me, how come I still can't get past this' I was stunned.

The black hair and cool serious attitude he always has makes me want to be like him.

I wish I could be as indifferent to the world and its affairs, I also wish I could have my strong followers and people, I would use them to help him with his goals.

"Brother it's okay, I just..."

"Dany, I can't ever apologize for the things I did, but I have been getting better. At least trying to, the first two years I couldn't bring myself to talk to you or near you because I know how much I hurt you." He interrupted me, his seriousness made me feel a little embarrassed.

'Maybe I was the problem...' This thought lingers in my mind, maybe it was me who made my brother want to hit me.

"Dany, the books are in your room, I need to go practice sword fighting." I could tell that my brother wanted to leave this awkward atmosphere, and I would let him.

"Okay..."

Seeing him leave, I refocused myself and went to the pond area of the estate, this was another training area meant for jumping from stone to stone, Madara said that as long as I can complete this and reach the other side without getting wet I am ready.

'Whatever that means...'

Another long breath accumulates from my chest,

I leap lightly to the first stone and use that momentum to jump to the next one, continuing this until I reach the fifth stone.

The tricky part of this course began, the stones became smaller and in different shapes, To reach the sixth stone I had to nimbly use my toes to grasp the corner and balance myself.

Catching myself from falling, I look at the last two stones, the first one is higher than me, and I need to use my one foot to propel myself so I can grasp the top and climb up,

Once I got up, the last spot and hardest for me awaited.

It is two stones with a split in the middle close together, I need to use both my hands and feet to shimmy across without falling.

Remembering how Madara did it, I copied and applied the same technique, and from this, I succeeded. Landing on the ground on the other side, the soft grass touching my bare feet had me feeling like I was stepping on the soft cushions in Illyrio's study.

Brushing the sweat off me, and noticing how dirty and gross I feel, my heart beats faster and my face feels hot.

I needed a bath, so I started to sprint back.

Entering my room I notice my two playmates knitting together, and on it is the same logo Madara made for all the "Uchiha Guards" he calls them.

"Dany you are here, I was just talking with Tealia about a certain Uchiha guard she fell in love with." she raises her eyebrows and says in a teasing tone.

"Branda!" Tealia's face flushed.

I could only smile at this and join in on the gossip.

Soon the conversation came to an end, and I realized I had been distracted.

"Help me set up my bath, I am exhausted." I felt my body had worked in mysterious ways, I came inside exhausted but was distracted by the conversation and only after it finished did I feel my tiredness.

"Dany, do you still want it boiling...? This shouldn't be good, every time I touch it I feel like I'm being scalded." Tealia looked at me with concern and care.

"It's fine Tealia, that temperature is the only way I can feel the warmth, I don't really understand why. I always thought I just wouldn't feel the temperature ever, it was a surreal feeling when Branda accidentally spilled boiling kettle water on my leg when trying to pour into my tea." I can only explain to my caring playmates, all the while teasing Branda.

"Dany I am sorry." Branda looked as if she was about to cry, and her voice had hints of sobs. I couldn't help but stop teasing and go to hug her.

"Eww Dany you smell so bad! eeek." I heard her say this, and I felt my smile go away followed by anger and indignation.

"Branda get back here!." I chase as she screams.

After some more time playing, my bath is finally settled and ready.

Stepping into the intense steaming water I feel relaxed more than ever.

I enjoyed this feeling of lying in the big bath, the steam hitting my face, and my brain becoming dizzy.

My eyes closed to relax and the first thing to pop into my mind was Madara's smile, his demeanour.. his everything... I couldn't help thinking of him. He was my prince charming and my fairytale.

'Dany! What are you doing he is your family.' I could only scold myself, but my heart would only beat faster and my face would feel burning,

I was unsure if this was my own emotions or the steaming water. Maybe this is why I like to think of this here, so I can give myself an excuse.

My head started moving left to right in repetition to forcefully remove these inappropriate thoughts.

I sobered up and got out of the bath, the sunset was seen from my window, and I watched as the sun slowly sank into the ocean, the same ocean that brought me here.

Putting my night clothes on, I light a candle and open a unique textured book, the sigil of the Targaryen house imprinted on the front, with text of old Valyrian.

"A Dark Sisters Past: The Tale of the Sister Queen of Aegon the Conqueror."

The book kept me intrigued the entire time, from the moment I learned of her upbringing, the love she had for her brother Aegon and how she became a guardian-like figure with him. She was indeed as Viserys had said, she was a warrior and a great one at that. She like Madara both believed in strength.

The more I read the more inspired by her I wanted to be, strong, brave and ruthless. She did everything for her brother Aegon.

'I want to do everything for Madara' I had begun to substitute myself as Visenya and Madara as Aegon.

My eyes couldn't leave the book. I had already changed my candle three times now.

'Visenya protected her family and fought side by side with her brother, this is what I want to do to.' clutching my hands to my heart, feeling the fast heartbeat.

I wanted to keep reading but my mouth opened uncontrollably and a soft mutter came out.

I was tired and my body knew it. Blowing out the candlelight I finally decide to go to sleep.

...Next Morning...

Birds chirping and the still salty sea breeze from my window lingered on me, groggily opening my eyes, I felt a little pained that I needed to do more training today, but then I remembered today was a rest day, I felt life was full of happiness, and even the way I looked at things seemed brighter.

Jumping out of bed, I go for my daily routines while I await for some guards to bring with me, Madara always said I needed to bring them as protection as people can always be unpredictable.

I also didn't want to interrupt those guards' own routine, even though I knew if I asked for something they would do it without question, but I just didn't want to intrude.

Finally waiting, I go to the guard post location and grab four of them as I make my way to the city.

My main objective today was to spend my time freely, I would go try out new food or crafts and trade. Anything that would keep my attention.

'It's been two hours of this, I am starting to get a little bored, but I do want one last stop, some imported goods came recently from Westeros.'

Along the way I was slowly getting involved in this culture, I would see kids cheering and dancing, and people in need, I also wanted to help. I had a lot of money from Illyrio, so I gave them the money that they wanted.

The feeling of seeing their happy expressions, then a complicated look at me, and then fear from my guards me wonder what had happened, but then I realized they must have their own trauma as I did with Viserys, I couldn't help them, so I can only silently support their wellbeing and move on.

*Rumbling*

'What is this feeling? The ground is starting to... shake?.' I first noticed that my balance almost lost itself, a slight numbing feeling came from my soles.

*Rumbling*

The talking, laughing, and cheering were being drowned out by a loud noise from the distance, and the foundation I was standing on started to shake a little bit.

Before I could understand what was happening I saw panic-stricken crowds running towards me away from where the noise came.

"RUN!

"The Dothraki Horde Has Come!"

"Ahhhh"

The voices reached my ears as adrenaline started pumping into my body, seeing the four anbu guards around me defending me, I spoke faster than I could think.

"Run, let's get back now!"

The guards protected me and ran back to the estate, knocking some people down, on the way I saw crowds of people falling scared.

I saw a mother holding her child in a corner, and a few other scared people.

I know I should have kept running but I couldn't stop myself again.

"Stop! Go help them." my voice piercing through the loud noise all around me. As I point towards the group of people I had seen.

The guards moved with my commands, getting closer to the crowd.

I started helping people up, although this felt like a pale effort as they were actively resisting and trying to keep hiding in this corner, my strength also wasn't stronger than theirs, so my pulling had no effect.

I suddenly saw the man I had given coins to, and I reached to help him up, but surprisingly he grabbed me first.

I felt my breathing become quicker and my heartbeat even faster.

From my daily training to now, I have realized I left myself vulnerable.

I felt myself almost being taken off my feet, but soon I caught myself and started to break free.

"S-S-Stop no-no, l-l-let meee go!" My voice couldn't help but stutter, the voice leaving different decimal sounds leaving me.

As his grab became firmer, looking at his eyes, they were no longer the thanks he had before, but now an evil grin and he looked at me like I was his next meal.

The blood on my face paled, I had read enough books to understand what might happen next. I felt I had no more strength, I closed my eyes in despair.

'But why? I had helped him' these thoughts could only linger in my mind as I felt stupefied.

Suddenly I felt a release, and a liquid on my face, running down my cheek, opening my eyes I saw the same man was now stabbed in the chest by one of my guards, his blooded mouth had spat some blood onto me.

My hand absently raised to touch my cheek, looking at the blood on my hand made my pupils dilate.

This was the first time I was so close to an actual death.

Before when my mother died I only saw her die due to sickness. This was something else.

From the time I helped him, to the time he may have wanted to do something to me, I even then remembered if I wasn't so feared I could have at least attempted to break free and used tricks I had learned from Madara.

I felt my years of training were wasted at a crucial moment. However this woke me up, and I now feel grateful and scared for this encounter.

Looking at these guards who protected me, I realized that my blind ignorance would only hurt myself or others. I steel my heart and order.

"Forget them, let's go back."

The estate came into view, watching as the Uchiha Guards blocked the crowds trying to escape into it, there were already many deaths at the front, and soon more and more people started to disperse.

I felt my throat blocked, I wanted to let these people in, but then I just remembered what I had told myself and almost experienced and kept quiet.

Rushing inside, as the guards made way for me, and the four guards that were following me had joined the ranks with the rest. Defending our home.

The farther I got into the estate, I found Grey Worm and Missandei first, they were coming towards my direction.

"You two, what do we do... everyone is screaming and going crazy." I just spilled everything that had happened. Hoping to get some understanding.

"Dany we need to go talk to your brother and Illyrio about this." Missandei was the first to say, she had always been a smart one, especially after some training skills with Madara she became smarter and more elegant.

"I shall collect the Anbu, and we will protect you and the important people Madara wanted us to protect." Grey Worm added to Missandei's words.

I just nodded and followed Missandei to the study room.

Opening the door the first thing that processed into my mind was Viserys overlooking a map of Pentos, and Illyrio standing next to him. I seemed to interrupt them as a conversation was taking place as I walked in.

"-a tribute could be made to send them away," Illyrio spoke seriously behind Viserys shoulder.

My coming had stopped what Viserys was going to say.

"Dany? Why are you here?"

Missandei saw I was at a loss for words and filled in what I had told them.

"We already knew they were coming, we had a scout come back and tell us, but even when they came we still couldn't handle it properly."

I saw my brother walk up to me slowly, Illyrio's face was hard to see from the candlelight, his face clouded in shadows had my stomach sink.

My brother knelt in front of me, and his hand touched my shoulder, leaving a subconscious tremor.

"I know this may be a lot, but I want to ask if you can give me control of the soldiers we have here." He said seriously to me,

"What...?." I was confused, 'What did he mean?'

"Dany, after Madara left, he gave full control of the guards to you, and they will all listen to your orders." I heard a soft voice from behind me, Missandei looked at me with a clear smile.

"Dany, I just want to protect our home." Hearing the word home from Viserys, I felt my eyes tear up, I just nodded.

Viserys had a clear smile on his face getting this, and Illyrio stepped forward, his face no longer covered also showed a peaceful smile.

The two men just looked at each other with a smile, and I felt a chill.

At this moment Grey Worm walked in with his Anbu team. Viserys still smiling said.

"Great, Grey Worm. Take your Anbu members and protect Dany well, I will need you also to help collect the rest of the Uchiha guards to gather at the training grounds, I have a plan to defend this home of ours from the looting and pillaging of the Dothraki."

Grey Worm just took this in silently but looked at me. I was quicker this time on catching on and nodded to him. This was seen by everyone in the room, I felt a little shy. Viserys still had a smile on his face, but Illyrio now stroked his chin with his hands looking at me.

"Viserys, we have had dealings with the Dothraki for some time, if we don't give a gift or tribute, we will only anger them."

"Illyrio can you tell me for certain that they won't want the people in our estate? What if they see Missandei or Daenerys and want them for their own?." Viserys said this all with a loud voice and gritted teeth,

I also noticed at the mention of Missandei, Grey Worm next to me clenched his fists.

"I must be prepared, you also told me that knowledge can win wars, I have read all the books you have given me, and there was a time when 3000 unsullied defeated the Dothraki in an open field defending a free trade city. So why wouldn't it work with our 800 and stronger Uchiha Guards defending choke points."

"We should at least try to talk to them," Illyrio said timidly.

A long pause ensued. As Viserys was considering his words.

"We can talk, but it won't be in the open, if what they want is just some gold and jewelry we can give them it. If they want people I will fight them... Madara wouldn't let them take people from his own home. I would rather face that entire Dothraki army than Madara." He laughed bitterly.

I saw him go up to a sword on a rack, pulling out a slender beautiful blade, A longing filled me. I saw that sword in the book I read. Dark Sister.

Viserys carried the sword and brought it towards me.

Finally, he sheathed it and put it on his waist. He now looked more heroic.

I heard him mumble "Rhaegar is this how you felt?."

"Let's put the plan into action, Grey Worm and Missandei please keep Dany safe and protected." Viserys once again reminds them, and then leaves the room, Illyrio follows behind him.

"Dany, let's go." Missandei tugged on my clothes, and I absently followed.

Halfway through, I saw the fast-moving guards getting ready for a battle. The words I read in the book of Visenya.

'I can't be cowardly anymore, I can still throw shurikens, I can do something.' I didn't feel I would be a burden at all, as long as I found an advantage point I could also be deadly.

"No..." My voice carried in this hall. Stopping both Grey Worm and Missandei.

"We have to also protect and defend this place, you get your stuff and let's meet together at the pond. I would rather fight to defend my legacy than hide and die in a corner." My words only boosted my confidence as I rushed to my room to collect my gear.

Putting on my own leather armour, and grabbing a bag of shurikens I noticed outside already were Grey Worm and Missandei.

Grey Worm was wearing the new Anbu outfit, his armour is a deep navy blue, while Missandei also wears leather armour but with a strengthened bow and a bunch of arrows.

"We cannot let our home fall before Madara gets back. I know he will arrive when he needs to, we just need to hold on."

I did truly mean what I said because if I ever believed that he wouldn't show up, I would most likely fall into despair first.

'Please Madara, return quickly' With a loving heart, my eyes firm. I blow out the candle and leave the room.
