Chapter 96: Collecting the College Entrance Exam Secret Zone Pass, Liam from the White Tiger Legion
Anna had checked George's background. His identity was clean: a person from Aurion City, his parents died fighting monsters, no background at all.
She clearly didn't believe it. George's background must have been faked.
How could a regular person grow this fast? There had to be a huge force behind him, something she couldn't even imagine.
"Nothing to worry about. We'll just line up. These people probably won't bother me," George said confidently. He already knew the person in charge of the pass was the White Tiger Legion. The Token Liam gave him should be useful.
Anna saw he wasn't angry, so she nodded and joined him in the line.
"Why won't you let me through? I provided all the documents, and they all match the requirements," someone in front shouted again.
A messy-bearded man was losing patience. His voice echoed.
"I said it doesn't match. Guards, throw him out!"
A shout, and the man was thrown out immediately.
The crowd fell silent again. They all knew who these people were. They were too scared to speak up and just stood in line.
George was confused. He had heard the conversation from the front. The man's documents were all correct. There was no reason not to let him through.
Was it the White Tiger Legion doing something behind the scenes? But would they have the guts to do that?
"Anna, how much do you know about the White Tiger Legion or the Taylor family?" George asked, looking at Anna.
Anna jumped in surprise. She carefully looked around to make sure no one was listening, then whispered:
"Mr. George, the White Tiger Legion and the Taylor family are not something we can talk about. But I can tell you, they wouldn't dare to do anything sneaky."
"That's strange," George thought. Why was the distribution of the Secret Zone Passes so strict this time?
Anna continued, "Not only are the free candidates being strict, but even students who weren't at the second stage were all rejected. But they can still graduate normally - they just don't need to take the Secret Zone exam."
"Is that even possible?" George was surprised, then realized.
The higher-ups were doing this to protect the students. The Underworld Secret Zone had changed. Not even Fourth Rank warriors were safe.
"Hey, Mr. George, it's really you!"
Suddenly, a voice shouted in surprise. A young man ran over quickly.
George looked at the man and felt a bit familiar. Then he realized and said in shock, "Liam? You came to Aurion City?"
The man was none other than Liam, one of the genius students George had saved in the Abyss Zone. He had given George the White Tiger Token.
Liam?
Next to him, Anna frowned slightly. She felt like she had heard that name before. The young man looked familiar too.
"It's him!"
Anna's eyes widened. She suddenly remembered.
Liam, the eldest son of the Taylor family in the White Tiger Legion.
Oh my god, he was a big shot from the Sovereign City. And he was treating George with respect.
Who the hell was George?
Anna looked at George and swallowed hard. She couldn't figure out who or what kind of force he was from, to make Liam call him "sir."
" I heard you were in Aurion City, and since we White Tiger Legion are in charge of the pass distribution in this area, I specifically applied to come here. I didn't expect to actually meet you." Liam was also happy to see George.
"By the way, why are you standing in line here?" he asked, confused.
George said, "Of course, I'm here to get the College Entrance Exam Secret Zone Pass."
"What?" Liam gasped, confused. "Mr. George, haven't you graduated yet?"
He had seen George's strength before, especially the powerful pets he had. In his opinion, George should have graduated a long time ago.
George smiled bitterly and said, "We're about the same age. You can just call me George. I'm also a graduate this year, but something unexpected happened, and I got kicked out of the academy."
"You're a graduate this year?" Liam stared, in disbelief.
"Wait, you said you got kicked out? Which stupid academy did that?" He was even more shocked. George was so strong, yet he was kicked out. There had to be some kind of conspiracy.
"It was just a misunderstanding," George didn't care much. He said, "I want to get a Secret Zone Pass. Can you get one for me?"
"No problem," Liam pulled him to the front, pushed aside the person still registering, and said, "Zach, this is my friend. Give him a pass."
The middle-aged man in charge frowned and looked at George, then said, "Follow the rules. You still need to register."
"Just a simple registration. I know George's strength. You can't even beat him. He's qualified. Don't worry, it won't be a problem." Liam didn't want to talk much and picked up the materials beside him to start the registration.
"Still saying there's no secret deal? I'm going to report it!"
"This is your White Tiger Legion? We have to pass the test too."
"I've recorded everything. If you don't give a proper explanation, I'll post it online."
...
The crowd was noisy, some even looked like they were about to lose control.
"Do you have the guts? These troublemakers won't be allowed through," Liam glared at the people causing trouble and said coldly.
A few soldiers came over and took the troublemakers out without hesitation.
The crowd quieted down. Some were still upset, but they didn't dare to cause more trouble.
George was a bit surprised. It seemed like Liam had a lot of influence in the White Tiger Legion.
"George, what's your class and rank?" Liam asked curiously.
"B tier Keeper, Fourth Rank," George said. He was actually Fifth Rank now, but it was too shocking, so he kept it a secret.
"B tier?" Liam put down his pen and hesitated. "George, don't joke. How could you be B tier?"
The middle-aged man also said coldly, "S tier or higher is required."
"Is there such a requirement?" George was surprised, then said, "SR tier Frost Mage, Fourth Rank."
"Fourth Rank? Are you sure? We need to test your strength." The man looked at George suspiciously, clearly not believing him.
He could feel George was about the same age as Liam. At such a young age, even the most talented people, even if raised by a big family, could only reach Third Rank.
"Go, bring the testing crystal over." The man told the person next to him. Then he looked at George and said coldly, "Kid, if you fake the info, even Mr. Kent won't help you get through."
"Zach, you don't believe me," Liam shouted.
George didn't expect it to be this strict. He said, "I did hide my aura. I'm actually a Fifth Rank Frost Mage."
"Talking nonsense. Let's test it!" The middle-aged man took the magic crystal from his assistant and handed it to George right away.
He didn't believe for a second that this young man could be Fifth Rank.
George sighed. He had planned to hide some of his power, but it was impossible now.
He switched to his Frost Mage panel, reached out, and touched the magic crystal. A surge of magical energy flowed through him.
A bright light flashed, and the crystal showed George's exact job information.
Fifth Rank, SR tier Frost Mage.
"Truly... Fifth Rank?" The middle-aged man stared in disbelief.
Liam and Anna were both shocked, swallowing hard.
Especially Anna. She knew George had just completed a Fourth Rank advancement quest a few days ago. How could he have climbed to Fifth Rank so fast?
Such a speed of growth? Even the top families couldn't match it.
Liam was the first to recover. He looked at the stunned middle-aged man and said with a smirk, "Zach, what else do you have to say?"
The man finally came to his senses and said coldly, "He meets the requirements. Issue the pass."
A few people nearby quickly filled out the information, checked it twice, and then handed the pass to George with respect.
Only with a pass could you enter the Underworld secret zone and gain points by killing monsters.
"George, I still haven't properly thanked you yet. Come on, I'll treat you to dinner," Liam said without paying attention to the stunned crowd around them, and pulled George away.
Anna hesitated for a moment, then followed.
"Wow, I didn't expect such a talent to be in this small Aurion City. SR tier Frost Mage? No, he must be hiding something," the middle-aged man said to himself, looking at George's information.
He thought George had a second job, which must be even stronger than SR tier Frost Mage.
"Keeper? I've never heard of that job before," he shook his head and stopped thinking about it, going back to checking the other candidates.
"Liam, you come to my place, or I'll treat you," George said. He actually liked Liam.
Liam, the eldest son of the Taylor family from the White Tiger Legion, had no airs, and his job was also strong.
"Sure, you pick the place, you pay," Liam said happily. Then he noticed Anna, and asked curiously, "George, is this your girlfriend?"
"No, no, don't misunderstand," Anna jumped in surprise and quickly said, "I'm the head of the Aurion City Class Changer Association."
She wanted to be George's girlfriend, but just in her mind. Their statuses were too different. It was impossible.
"Mr. George, Mr. Kent, there's something else at the Class Changer Association. I won't bother you any longer." She apologized. She wanted to get close to the two, but she had some sense. These two were high status, and getting too close might backfire.
"Okay. Thanks again," George nodded.
"No, no. I didn't help at all," Anna said clearly. She knew everything was thanks to Liam. She said a quick goodbye and left.
