FROZEN 3: Elsa and Jack Frost

Chapter 8: BROKEN VOWS

Captain Lars, holding his scorched arm, looked at Anna with sad looking eyes.

"Forgive us, Your Majesty," he whispered, before then dropping his sword and falling to his knees.

One after the other, the rest of the guards followed him, letting go of their weapons that clattered as it all hit the ground.

Gerda, up the the balcony, bowed his head, closing his eyes and retreated further into the castle, shaking his head.

Anna's heart literally sank when she realized they were giving up.

"No, No!"

The side of Kristoff's lips tugged upward.

'They all break easily,' he thought.

Motioning with his fingers, he gave the order, "Bring her here."

"What? Wait!!! What are you doing?" Anna shrieked, turning her jerkingly left and right as her own guards began closing in on her.

Two guards grabbed her by both of her arms, dragging her toward Kristoff.

She struggled, completely disbelieving what was happening.

"How could you?"

Somehow, the betrayal from guards she'd known all her life, right from childhood stung her more than Kristoff's lies did.

Tears streamed down her face, while she looked at each of the guards, digging her feet to the ground even if it was of no use against the strong men.

"How could you betray me like this?"

Captain Lars averted his face, he looked ashamed.

Once she was brought directly in front of Kristoff, Sven swiped his tail at her legs, forcing her to the ground.

The impact was harsh and Anna groaned, biting her lips to distract herself from the pain when her knees hit the cobblestones.

Dense pain was what she felt but looking up from her kneeling position, the humiliation was worse.

And her— no 'the' guards held her down making her stay in that position when they saw it pleased Kristoff.

Kristoff towering over her, he didn't smile, no, he mocked her with his eyes instead.

Stretching his hands out and reaching down, he plucked the royal ruling crown from Anna's head.

He turned to the crowd, raising the crown high above his own head…

"Behold your new king!"

… And placed it atop his head.

There was silence.

Irritated, Kristoff cocked his head at the dragon and he spread his wings wide, roaring.

The desired effect was immediate, the guards and the townsfolk that stood at a far distance started clapping.

The new king smiled, enjoying the ovation being given to him.

Anna looked up at him through her tears blurred vision, "Kristoff Why?"

She wasn't Queen anymore, surely he would answer now.

"Why are you doing this now? Why did you wait this long to have this?"

"Let go of her!"

Everyone turned to the voice to see Olaf that had been forgotten till now.

He ran, flailing his little twig hands and jumped onto one guard's leg, punching him with all the strength he could muster from— who knows where.

"Take that! And that!"

The guard looked down at him and sighed, plucking Olaf off his leg and holding him at his full arm's length.

"What do we do with this snowman?" he asked.

"Throw him into the hot dungeons," Kristoff said waving his hands dismissively at him.

"He'll melt eventually."

"No! Olaf!" Anna screamed, trying to get up and fight the guards, to no avail.
