Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The Death of the Sixth-Rank Scarlet-Eyed Serpent

The powerful blade energy from Zhang Laosan's strike instantly impacted the body of the Scarlet-Eyed Serpent.

Boom!

The massive body of the serpent was forced back by the strike.

Hiss! Hiss!

The serpent flicked its tongue and then opened its mouth wide, spewing out a large amount of green mucus!

"Watch out!" Zhang Laosan's pupils contracted as he quickly dodged to the side.

The green mucus splattered around, instantly corroding everything it touched—trees, grass, even the ground. Corpses on the ground that were hit by the mucus didn't just lose flesh; even their bones dissolved into nothing.

"A sixth-rank Scarlet-Eyed Serpent—truly formidable!" Zhang Laosan, standing on a tree, grinned wickedly. This time, they had brought five peak fifth-rank warriors to kill this serpent!

In an instant, the five warriors unleashed their martial skills, attacking the serpent with full force.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The ground trembled violently from the clash.

"The Scarlet-Eyed Serpent has appeared; this is terrifying!"

"The elders have gone in; I hope they can kill it…"

The remaining disciples who had fled were whispering among themselves, too scared to approach the battle.

Meanwhile, inside the serpent's belly, Ye Fan was contemplating how to escape.

"It seems like this corrosive liquid can't dissolve me," he realized. The same liquid that had melted Zhang Xiaoming's corpse was unable to affect him, much to Ye Fan's relief.

"Who would've thought I'd end up inside a serpent's stomach?" Ye Fan sighed. This was a first since he became a sword.

"I need to get out of here," he decided. Concentrating, he began to use his energy to move.

The sword started to hover, and then it shot toward the fleshy walls of the serpent's stomach.

Thud!

Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!

The serpent writhed in agony as the blade pierced its insides. It thrashed about wildly, its massive tail sweeping across the battlefield.

Thud!

One of the warriors, caught off guard, was struck by the tail and sent flying into a tree, snapping it in half. Blood spurted from his mouth as he crashed to the ground.

"It's suddenly stronger!?" Zhang Laosan's expression darkened. The Scarlet-Eyed Serpent had become frenzied, as if it had been provoked. It unleashed a barrage of green mucus from its mouth.

"This is bad!" Zhang Laosan's face twisted in fear.

Inside the serpent's belly, Ye Fan continued to stab at the walls. "Damn it, this thing's belly is so tough! What rank is this beast?"

He was growing anxious. If he didn't escape soon, he would run out of energy.

[Phantom Dance]!

With that, Ye Fan activated one of his sword skills. The blade, now a blur, hacked furiously at the serpent's insides.

The serpent, driven mad by the pain, became even more ferocious. Its crimson eyes glowed with rage as it thrashed around. Its powerful tail knocked away the peak fifth-rank warriors one by one.

Ahhh!

Zhang Laosan screamed in agony as the serpent's toxic green mucus splashed onto his arm, melting the flesh away until only bone remained.

As he looked around, he saw his comrades lying lifeless on the ground.

"How… how did it come to this?" Zhang Laosan's eyes filled with terror. According to their plan, they should have been able to wear down and kill the serpent with their combined strength. But now, the Scarlet-Eyed Serpent was attacking them with a crazed fury, as if they had wronged it deeply.

The serpent roared, spraying more of the deadly green mucus. The ground around it sizzled and smoked as the acid corroded everything it touched.

Zhang Laosan tried to flee, but a glob of the green mucus splattered onto him, quickly reducing his body to a skeleton.

The serpent had expended most of its venom and was now lying on the ground, barely alive.

Thud!

At that moment, a sword pierced through its belly and emerged.

[Killed sixth-rank Scarlet-Eyed Serpent, gained 600 evolution points]

"Huh? Did I just kill it?" Ye Fan was momentarily stunned. Had simply slicing through the serpent from inside really killed it?

Looking around, he saw the ground covered in corrosion. Several bodies lay scattered—probably those of Zhang Laosan and his team. They had come to hunt the serpent but were all dead now.

Ye Fan felt a mix of disbelief and frustration. "My energy drained so fast!"

He noted that his energy levels had dropped significantly. "I need to get out of here fast!"

He began to move again, using his remaining energy to fly away. With only about forty points of energy left, he estimated he had just over forty seconds before he would be out of power.

"I need to find a new master, and this time, someone stronger and smarter."

Ye Fan couldn't help but lament Zhang Xiaoming's demise. The guy had potential but lacked the wisdom to avoid being tricked and killed so easily.

"Wait, is this a cliff?" After flying for some time, Ye Fan realized he was approaching the edge of a sheer drop. The abyss below was pitch black and seemingly endless.

At that moment, his energy reserve ran dangerously low, and the sword began to waver.

Near a waterfall, a young man sat cross-legged, meditating. The sound of the rushing water filled the air.

"It's no use. My meridians feel blocked, and I still can't advance," he sighed.

This young man was Lin San, an inner disciple of Tianqiong Sect. Once a prodigious talent, he had faced a setback in his cultivation, leading to his stagnation.

As he opened his eyes, a flash of cold light appeared before him. A sword had embedded itself in the ground right in front of him, mere inches from his crotch.

Lin San's eyes widened in shock, and he trembled slightly.
