From Sword to Slaughter: Evolution

Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Brought to Her Door

"One hundred and eighty-five thousand!"

"Mr. 115 has bid one hundred and eighty-five thousand!"

"Any higher bids?" the auctioneer called out.

The Silver Skeleton fetching one hundred and eighty-five thousand was already considered a high price.

"Two hundred thousand," Lin Luoluo said calmly.

Two hundred thousand!?

Upon hearing Lin Luoluo's bid, the crowd was visibly shocked. Two hundred thousand was an exceptionally high price for such an item.

"This is getting intense," Ye Fan muttered, a bit surprised. In this world, two hundred thousand gold coins would be equivalent to several million on Earth, making it a considerable amount of money.

"Two hundred and fifty thousand!" the middle-aged man shouted, his face dark and unsettled.

He was from the Yang family of Spey City! Whatever he wanted, he was determined to get!

"That man is Yang Pei, from the Yang family."

"No wonder he's so bold. The Yang family is the largest in Spey City."

"That explains his confidence…"

Hearing the murmurs around him, a proud expression appeared on Yang Pei's face. As a direct descendant of the Yang family, he was used to getting what he wanted.

"Three hundred thousand," Lin Luoluo calmly countered.

Three hundred thousand!?

The crowd was in an uproar. No one had expected the bidding to reach three hundred thousand. Even the auctioneer on stage was momentarily stunned by the staggering amount.

"It's just a Silver Skeleton," some people whispered.

"Young master, this far exceeds the planned budget," the middle-aged man next to Yang Pei warned quietly.

"I don't care. I must have it," Yang Pei growled through gritted teeth. "If the Yang family is outbid, how can we show our faces in this city?"

He was determined to win, no matter the cost.

"Three hundred and ten thousand!" he snarled, his voice seething with frustration.

Lin Luoluo frowned slightly, her gaze drifting toward Yang Pei.

He looked back at her with a challenging glare.

"Three hundred and twenty thousand," Lin Luoluo said after calculating her remaining gold.

"Three hundred and fifty thousand!" Yang Pei barked, raising the stakes even higher.

Finally, the bidding reached three hundred and eighty thousand, and Lin Luoluo stopped. She didn't raise her bid any further.

"Three hundred and eighty thousand going once!"

"Three hundred and eighty thousand going twice!"

"Three hundred and eighty thousand, sold!" The auctioneer exclaimed with excitement. "The highly valuable Silver Skeleton now belongs to Mr. 115, Yang Pei!"

Yang Pei had won, but as he came to his senses, a wave of regret washed over him.

Three hundred and eighty thousand… He had spent three hundred and eighty thousand on a Silver Skeleton!

"Damn it," he cursed under his breath, clenching his fists until his nails dug into his palms. His eyes burned with fury as they locked onto Lin Luoluo. He was convinced she had only raised the price to spite him.

Meanwhile, Lin Luoluo glanced back at him, her eyes cold beneath her veil. She couldn't outbid him with the gold she had, but that skeleton… she had to get it, no matter what.

"If she can't buy it, she'll take it another way. This is getting interesting," Ye Fan chuckled, amused by the tension in the room.

The auction continued late into the night. Although Yang Pei had won the Silver Skeleton, Lin Luoluo spent her remaining funds on high-grade elixirs, which were cheaper at the auction than in shops.

As the event came to a close and the crowd began to disperse, Lin Luoluo quietly left the auction house. She made her way toward a less populated area, only to be confronted by Yang Pei at a street corner.

He wasn't alone—several burly men stood behind him, all high-ranking warriors. As a member of the Yang family, he had the privilege of being surrounded by such powerful guards.

"You think it's funny, making me spend all that extra gold?" Yang Pei sneered, glaring at her.

"Hand it over," Lin Luoluo said coolly, her gaze fixed on him.

She had been planning to track down Yang Pei and retrieve the Silver Skeleton, but now it seemed he had come straight to her. This made things easier.

Some passersby, sensing the tension, quickly turned and left, not wanting to get involved. They knew Yang Pei was furious after overspending on the skeleton and would likely take it out on Lin Luoluo—possibly even killing her.

"Oh? So you weren't just trying to raise the price? You actually wanted the Silver Skeleton?" Yang Pei raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

With a thought, he pulled the Silver Skeleton from his storage space. Encased in a glass box, the skeleton gleamed, resembling a delicate work of art.

But to Lin Luoluo, it symbolized her people's suffering—their fear and rage at the moment of death.

"Give it to me, and I'll let you go," she said coldly.

"Let me go? Are you serious?" Yang Pei blinked, then burst into laughter. In Spey City, the idea that anyone would say something like that to him was absurd.

"Capture her. Let's see if she's as pretty as her voice sounds, or if she's just another ugly monster under that veil," Yang Pei ordered, a cruel grin spreading across his face.

The warriors behind him rushed forward, intending to subdue Lin Luoluo without weapons, as if she were merely an insect.

But as they closed in, Lin Luoluo's eyes flashed. In an instant, she drew her sword.

Zheng—

The sword's light gleamed as it sliced through the air. The warriors barely had time to react before they realized what had happened. Their eyes widened in shock, but it was too late to dodge.

With a single sweeping arc, Lin Luoluo cut down every one of them.
