Chapter 650: The Little Whip's Service
Li Yehan returned at three in the morning.
First he disinfected his entire body, then he showered, and threw away all the clothes he wore to avoid bringing back the virus.
After disinfection, he took three more showers, almost scrubbing his skin raw.
Li Yehan tiptoed in, planning to check on Nan Qiao and then sleep in the next room.
Unexpectedly, the room's desk lamp was on, its warm yellow light making the atmosphere cozy.
Li Yehan beamed, a soft light gleaming in his eyes, as he walked in step by step.
The bed sank slightly as Li Yehan sat at its edge.
Nan Qiao was a light sleeper, and upon hearing footsteps, she opened her eyes to see Li Yehan returning, and she sat up.
"Don't get up, keep sleeping."
Li Yehan tried to push her back into bed, but Nan Qiao wouldn't listen, insisting on sitting up.
Finding no way around it, Li Yehan could only indulge her.
Without letting Nan Qiao go to the scene, once home, he could only do as Qiaoqiao wished.
"Why are you back so early? I thought you'd be working all night."
Li Yehan: "..."
Great, Qiaoqiao didn't miss him at all.
Li Yehan: "It's mostly handled, the place has been exposed, so we needed to act quickly to prevent any complications and get things done."
Nan Qiao nodded in agreement: "Did everyone else leave?"
"They all left, Zheng Qinnian took two large boxes back for research. He'll notify you if there's any news."
Zheng Qinnian did inform her, so Nan Qiao sent Tang Helin and Tan Zhe over to help.
With her master and senior brother present, Nan Qiao felt a little more at ease.
"Qiaoqiao, I brought a box of things for you."
Nan Qiao: "What things?"
What good things could that little old courtyard possibly have?
Antiques?
"Let's go take a look." Nan Qiao felt wide awake.
Li Yehan stood up smiling, took Nan Qiao's hand, and led her to the basement via the elevator.
The wooden box remained in the trunk; Li Yehan hadn't let anyone take it out to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Nan Qiao stood by as Li Yehan moved the box.
The box lay on the ground, heavy.
Li Yehan in a short-sleeved shirt, his arms bulging with muscles, exuding a sense of strength and security.
"Does the box contain treasures?" Nan Qiao joked.
If it's really valuable stuff, shouldn't it be handed over to Director Nie to take away?
Since Director Nie didn't take it, why did Li Yehan bring it home?
"Qiaoqiao, open it and take a look."
Nan Qiao curiously opened the box.
Upon opening it, she was shocked by the contents inside.
Inside were jade jewelry, exquisitely made gold jewelry, coins, and diamonds.
"Li Yehan, why did you bring these back? Doesn't Director Nie know about this?" Shouldn't these be turned in?
Li Yehan: "There's no need to hand them over because these things belong to our Li Family."
Nan Qiao: ???
"Jiang Linyu took away some of our Li Family's belongings during her many years of marriage to Li Tianhong. Some items had our Li Family's mark, making them impossible to sell on the domestic market, as she feared they would be detected if sold. She probably planned to leave with this box after the matter concluded. Before she could leave, we found the items."
Nan Qiao: "..."
"That's such a coincidence?" Nan Qiao hadn't expected Jiang Linyu's hidden treasures to be buried in the courtyard.
Li Yehan: "I was surprised too. The key person who told me where the box was buried was Nan Shan."
"What!" Nan Qiao was stunned.
Is Nan Shan observing everything like he's standing in God's viewpoint?
He knows way too much!
Li Yehan continued, "Nan Shan was once caught by Jiang Linyu, and overheard her discussing the matter with Li Ye. Nan Shan remembered it, and when he discovered the courtyard at night, he realized it matched Jiang Linyu's description. So, that's how he knew about the batch of goods Jiang Linyu buried in the courtyard."
Nan Qiao realized.
"Good job, Nan Shan is amazing."
Nan Shan remembered, and his memory lasted this long.
"But why didn't he tell me earlier? Even if he had, we might not have found where the courtyard was," Nan Qiao said, lifting a gold brick and weighing it in her hand.
Yeah, quite heavy, really nice.
Nan Qiao chuckled gleefully; who wouldn't be tempted by such shiny treasures?
Li Yehan was amused by her expression, seeing her adorable demeanor, he couldn't help but pinch her cheek.
"Little money-grubber."
"Li Yehan, don't you like money?"
Li Yehan: "I don't like money, I only like you."
Nan Qiao raised an eyebrow: "You must like me because I have money."
Li Yehan looked at her lovingly, giving a helpless smile.
"Director Nie is handling the follow-up situation. With so much stuff dug up tonight, I estimate those people won't dare make any moves lately; they're afraid of being caught. You also shouldn't overwork these days and take a good rest."
"I'll see. With so many people watching, I've been resting constantly. Did Brother Bo's men spill anything?"
Li Yehan: "They planned to kill me by gathering a few people tonight, just waiting for an opportunity to kill me. But now their plan is ruined."
Thanks to Nan Qiao.
It was Nan Qiao who saved him.
"Qiaoqiao, this box of things is all for you to decide. Keep it or give it away."
Nan Qiao: "Thank you so much."
She truly loved it.
...
After being treated with Old Liu's little whip, Brother Bo's group confessed everything they knew.
Not confessing meant they couldn't bear the physical pain.
The little whip soaked in chili oil, each lash slicing open skin, with a burning pain.
Who could endure that feeling!
Brother Bo bitterly cried out, "I've told you everything I know, I really have."
Old Liu: "You're quite bold."
Brother Bo: "..."
Brother Bo: "Bro, I have no guts, I really don't anymore."
He wouldn't do it even for money now.
He was truly frightened.
Old Liu waved the little whip, making others shiver in fear.
Knowing they couldn't extract more information, Old Liu went out to call Li Yehan to report.
"Mr. Li, we've figured it out. Their contact person is called Sister Hua, and she always wears a mask."
Li Yehan: "Hmm?"
Old Liu: "But Xiao Bo said he once saw the left side of Sister Hua's face without the mask, and there's a big black mole on it."
"Get the painter to draw it out." That would make it easier to find.
"Already arranged, but the rest of what they confessed is useless." A bunch of worthless idiots.
Li Yehan ended the call.
The urgent task was to find Sister Hua first.
...
While Li Yehan was searching for Sister Hua, she was already found.
When she was found, Sister Hua was lying on an operating table in a private clinic, preparing to have her mole removed.
The mole wasn't dealt with, and she almost lost her life.
Sister Hua felt stifled and speechless.
"Who are you people?" Sister Hua sounded very cautious.
Old Liu: "No wonder you're working with a group of worthless idiots, you're quite useless too. Who do you think we are?"
Sister Hua: "..."
Sister Hua was just taken away like that.
