From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals

Chapter 505: To Beijing

To a degree, but they do align with your well being more than the Demon King or the Angelics will, I can promise you that.

Do you think Earth will survive all of this?"

Erebos shook his head slowly, a cold smile playing on his lips. "No, I see no future where Earth survives the onslaught of what's coming. But... there is a group in a place you call Chicago that's working on a solution. They're attempting to ensure that a good portion of humanity survives elsewhere.

It's a vision that has yet to come to pass, but they were successful in sending five human souls to another planet in another universe. Well done, but that has little to do with my current plans."

Jade's breath caught in her throat as she processed his words. Her mind was racing, but she couldn't take any more. With a determined glare, she took a deep breath and then sprang back from the ground, throwing a fist at Erebos. He simply smiled, his form fading as her fist passed right through him. The next moment, her hand was caught mid-air by Gojaro, who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

"Hey, hey, hey! What the hell are you doing?!" Gojaro shouted, his grip firm on her wrist.

Jade's mind spun in confusion. "He... he was just in front of me! Where did he go?!"

"Where did who go?" Gojaro asked, his brow furrowing. "I just came to get you because you weren't answering your phone. We're going to be late."

Jade shook her head, trying to make sense of what had just happened. "I saw Erebos just now, and he mentioned so much..."

Gojaro's expression softened slightly, though concern still etched his features. "I'm not sure, Jade, but no one has entered this room. Perhaps it was something mental, like a projection... but we'll have to deal with that after the meeting. He didn't say anything terrible, did he?"

"Uh, no," Jade replied, though her voice was hesitant. "He did mention that Earth is still far from being safe."

"Well, that goes without saying," Gojaro said, his tone matter-of-fact. He extended his hand down to Jade, offering her a steadying presence. "Please, let's go."

Jade nodded, grabbing his hand as she stood up. Her mind still buzzed with the encounter as she reached for her phone. She caught a glimpse of her reflection in the screen and froze—her eyes, for just a brief second, glowed a deep red before returning to their normal color. She blinked, shaking off the eerie vision as she followed Gojaro out of the room, her grip tightening on her phone.

So uh, what is this meeting going to be covering again as she walked side by side with Gojaro as they left the infirmary as they walked down the hallways of the hideout.

"Well, first, we need to get you caught up on the events and the plan," Gojaro explained as they walked. "Ultimately, it's going to revolve around breaking the crystal and figuring out how to transition humanity into a new age where people have powers and such. After that, we'll plan for how to deal with the Kaiju threats."

Jade thought about Erebos's words for a moment, the unsettling encounter still fresh in her mind. She shook her head, trying to push his voice out of her thoughts. I have no reason to trust anything he says, she reminded herself.

"I see," Jade replied, her tone cautious. "But will breaking the crystal really have the same effect on everyone that it did on us? The whole process was… for lack of a better word, barbaric."

Gojaro nodded, acknowledging her concern. "The Director and Master Ash have some ideas. The plan is to create eight divisions, each led by some of the strongest among us, to train the new people who come in. The idea is to avoid the chaos we went through by giving people proper guidance and a framework to develop their abilities."

Jade absorbed this information, her thoughts still tinged with doubt. "But what if it doesn't work the same way? What if breaking the crystal brings unforeseen consequences?"

Gojaro sighed, his expression serious. "That's the risk we have to take. But we don't have many options left. The crystal is already cracking, and the world is changing whether we like it or not. Our best bet is to control that change as much as we can."

"True," Jade said, thinking aloud. "We could try getting the crystal back where it came from, but that wouldn't solve the Kaiju problem. We need more manpower to deal with them. I haven't seen any status reports—how many people did we lose?"

Gojaro's response was brief as they continued walking. "You'll see."

"So, where are we headed, anyway?" Jade asked, her curiosity growing.

"Beijing, China, for the conference meeting," Gojaro explained. "It's one of the few places that didn't suffer major losses, and it was chosen for the global meeting because of its security. The U.S. is backing it up with a significant portion of military forces, just in case."

Jade nodded, trying to wrap her mind around the scale of everything. "I still don't get how the crystal is close to breaking," she said, grabbing the cross-shaped device Gojaro handed her. As they activated it, their surroundings shimmered and blurred, the familiar room dissolving around them.

In an instant, they reappeared in a different space—a large, austere room with heavy wood paneling and high, arched windows that let in a soft, muted light. The room was spacious and empty, save for the faint echo of their arrival. It felt like stepping into a place of history, the walls seemingly alive with the weight of past decisions.

Jade looked around, trying to make sense of their new surroundings. The room was vast, with heavy wood paneling, tall windows, and an air of solemnity that made her feel small. She had no idea where they were, but the atmosphere was unmistakably significant.

Gojaro, noticing her confusion, leaned in slightly and whispered, "We're in the Great Hall of the People. This is where major government meetings happen—right here in Beijing. World leaders from across the globe gather here for events just like this."

Jade nodded, absorbing the information. The grandeur of the space, with its ornate design and the weight of history in every corner, now made sense. The polished marble floors reflected the soft light filtering in through the large windows, casting long, serious shadows that added to the gravity of the situation.

She couldn't help but feel the pressure of the moment, realizing they were in a place where decisions of immense importance were made.
