From Demon Slayer to the Multiverse: The Ultimate Exploiter

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Choosing a Side

"Hmm?"

Satoru Gojo gently lifted the white cloth covering his eyes, revealing his misty, sky-blue gaze. With just a glance, he peered through the "veil" and observed the flow of cursed energy within the mysterious man before him.

The man's cursed energy was only slightly above that of an ordinary person, yet he could see curses.

No innate technique, no understanding of cursed energy manipulation, yet capable of killing curses.

Was it because of that sword?

A slow, intrigued smile curled Satoru Gojo's lips. It had been a long time since he felt genuine curiosity, and he relished the sensation.

But as the man raised the peculiar katana above his head, his aura suddenly intensified, exuding a weight as formidable as a mountain.

That muscular stance stirred an unpleasant memory in Gojo's mind, and the smile on his face faltered.

Gojo also noticed something else—the supervisor temporarily assigned to monitor him and Yuta Okkotsu, a man calling himself "Mr. Liu," didn't seem surprised by the mysterious figure's appearance. On the contrary, Mr. Liu seemed fixated on him, watching him far more intently than he did Yuta.

"Hah, things are starting to get interesting..."

Mr. Liu had a quiet certainty about him—there's no such thing as a misnamed nickname.

[The Exploiter] Tong Gu certainly had a knack for navigating the intel of these mission worlds, which explained why so many naive fools believed he could conquer the Game of Fate.

To Mr. Liu, Tong Gu's actions aligned almost perfectly with his organization's optimal strategy for these scenarios. Waiting until the two main storyline characters were consumed before intervening and rescuing them was an excellent way to gain the favor of this world's powerful figures.

"Hmph, without us, this 'Exploiter' might really have coasted through this Bronze-tier world unscathed."

"But this path is closed to you... Tong Gu."

Tong Gu raised his katana high, his aura reaching its peak. Despite sensing a presence hidden on the rooftop, he didn't hesitate. With a deafening roar, the ground beneath him quaked violently.

Boom!

The pulsations of the earth propelled Tong Gu forward, sending him hurtling toward the curse. He swung his katana with both hands, delivering a clean slash.

The strike was so fast that the cursed spirit's body had already been sliced before the sound of the blade cutting through air reached anyone's ears.

The air friction generated a blazing white contrail, forming a giant crescent moon in the curse's chest and abdomen.

Slash!

Purple blood gushed out like a river. Tong Gu touched the ground lightly with his right foot, narrowly avoiding the cursed spirit's blood.

Wail!

The green curse let out a childlike scream as the massive wound in its abdomen expelled the two unconscious figures it had swallowed: a child and Maki Zen'in.

The green curse, enraged, lunged to bite down, but its head suddenly swelled grotesquely.

"Yuta! Yuta! Yuta... loves Yuta!"

A sickly sweet, coquettish yet eerie voice erupted from the green curse's head. Its two eyes trembled violently before sharp, white claws tore through its flesh from within.

Amid the spray of purple blood and flesh, a terrifying white curse emerged from the green one, soaring into the sky with outstretched arms, letting out an ear-piercing roar.

Roar!

Its claws dripped with the green curse's blood, and as it stared at the crimson stains, a deranged smile spread across its face.

"So beautiful... Rika loves beautiful things!"

Tong Gu leapt to catch Maki and the two conscious children, locking eyes with Yuta Okkotsu, who stood amidst the remains of the green curse. For the first time, Yuta's gaze held a spark of determination.

The white curse, Rika, dove toward the green curse once again. Despite its resistance, Rika tore off large chunks of its flesh with ease.

"Yuta! Yuta! Yuta!" Rika called out Yuta's name in a frenzy as she ripped and shredded with wild abandon.

Her twisted, obsessive demeanor even unsettled Tong Gu. He nodded at Yuta, then carried Maki and the children away from the scene.

Though Rika seemed engrossed in her carnage, her attention never wavered from Yuta's side. She finished off the green curse with a final, brutal tear, then gracefully landed before Yuta.

Standing protectively in front of him, Rika glared at Tong Gu and the others, emanating overwhelming malice and cursed energy. The oppressive aura made Tong Gu's hair stand on end.

Yuta clutched the ring in his hand tightly and jumped down. Rika caught him immediately.

"Rika, stop! They're not enemies!"

Though Rika ceased her aggressive stance, Tong Gu could still feel the lingering, twisted malice in the air.

Yuta, sweating profusely, finally managed to calm Rika, who faded away.

Clap, clap, clap.

The sound of applause redirected everyone's attention. Yuta turned to see his teacher, Satoru Gojo, stepping through the now-lifted veil. A wave of relief washed over Yuta's face.

Tong Gu turned to face the approaching man, his white hair naturally spiked as if it gleamed. His eyes remained hidden beneath the white cloth.

This was the apex of this world's power—a character created with the concept of "the pinnacle of strength" in mind.

Gojo exaggeratedly clapped as he walked, shaking his head in mock admiration.

"Magnificent, truly magnificent..."

Tong Gu realized Gojo wasn't addressing Yuta or the unconscious Maki. He was looking at him.

In other words, Tong Gu's deliberate display had indeed caught Gojo's attention.

Step, step, step.

Even the sound of Gojo's footsteps betrayed his meticulousness. Every step was identical in distance and rhythm, a level of precision that Gojo found irritating.

Yet, the old geezers of the Jujutsu world adored this kind of demeanor. They called it "reliable."

Hah, how ridiculous, Gojo thought, his lips curling into a smile only he could understand.

Tong Gu turned to observe another figure—the meticulous Mr. Liu. His slicked-back hairstyle, black suit, and red tie reminded Tong Gu of another time, another face.

Gojo glanced at the conveniently present Mr. Liu, his smile deepening. With an exaggerated gesture, he said, "Well, Mr. Liu, Yuta successfully exorcised the curse. Doesn't this prove my methods aren't wrong?"

Mr. Liu coughed lightly, sidestepping the question entirely.

Tong Gu remained silent, watching Gojo's approach with a mixture of caution and curiosity.

"Thanks for helping my rather useless students earlier," Gojo said cheerfully. "By the way, who might you be?"

Tong Gu replied calmly, "Just a passerby. Hardly worth mentioning."

Gojo's eyes sparkled with amusement, though hidden beneath his blindfold. "With that physique and swordsmanship, being a 'passerby' seems like a waste. Why not join us at Jujutsu High for a visit?"

[Important plot character Satoru Gojo has invited you to join his faction. Do you accept?]
