Chapter 52: Scale
As the ship sailed smoothly, Aaron once again immersed himself in fishing. With no danger in sight, he finally revealed his cheat ability to its maximum level.
Kelly watched in awe as Lord Aaron pulled out colorful fish within just 200 breaths. She was stunned. Even Rita and Rina exchanged confused glances, unable to understand how he was doing it.
Torvald chuckled from the side and said, "There's no one who could surpass you in fishing, Aaron."
Then he paused and added, "Aaron, I might need your help."
Aaron cast his line again and asked casually, "Oh? What kind of help?"
Torvald replied, "To build this diagram accurately, I need to measure things properly. So I need to create a new scale."
Aaron responded calmly, "Torvald, I actually have a suggestion for the scale. If you can build it, it might be very helpful."
Torvald's eyes lit up. "What kind of scale?"
Aaron handed the fishing rod to Kelly and said, "If the fish bites, let me know."
Then he sat beside Torvald and began sketching a simple diagram, introducing the concepts of millimetres, centimeters and meters for the first time.
Torvald exclaimed, "Fantastic! Aaron, your idea of using decimals might change how people measure things in this world. With this new scale, I'm confident I can build the Ballastia within a day!"
Meanwhile, Kelly sat by the sea, fishing with an excited expression. She wanted to fish like Lord Aaron. But as time passed, she grew frustrated, no fish took the bait. Rita and Rina, watching quietly, realized that Lord Aaron's fishing skills were truly exceptional.
After finishing the explanation, Aaron added, "Torvald, I'd also like you to build a sundial. It will measure time using sunlight."
Torvald looked confused. Aaron patiently explained its purpose, how it could be used to track time, and how valuable it would be for managing the territory efficiently.
Torvald felt that today he had learned more than he ever could have back in Starfall City. Such knowledge had been nearly impossible to access there. He now believed that following Aaron was the best decision of his life.
He had learned about two types of measurement. The first, based on length, was easier to grasp since he already understood the basic concept.
The second, related to time, intrigued him deeply. He still had questions, like why there were only twelve dials, but he decided to build one first and ask later.
-----
Meanwhile, Aaron took the fishing rod back from Kelly.
She asked curiously, "Lord Aaron, how do you manage to catch fish so quickly?"
Aaron simply smiled and replied, "Just like I caught this one."
He cast the line again and pulled out another fish, swiftly killing it. Kelly placed the dead fish into the barrel, thinking to herself, "So you don't want to tell me, huh?"
Still, watching Lord Aaron fish so effortlessly left her amazed.
-----
Time passed, and evening settled in.
Aaron turned to Captain Monga and asked, "Captain Monga, are we going to keep sailing or dock somewhere?"
Captain Monga looked toward the tree-lined shore and replied with a slightly helpless tone, "Lord Aaron, I'm also searching for a suitable place to dock."
Aaron nodded and casually opened the map.He spotted a shore just 300 meters away and felt relieved. Scanning the island further, he noticed red dots, snakes, level 1.
Seeing this, he relaxed.
Just then, Captain Monga rang the bell, signaling the two ships behind them.
A few minutes later, the ships docked. Sailors landed and began clearing the shore to set up camp.
-----
Aaron strapped his bow and arrows to his back and said to Torvald, "I'll be back soon."
He headed toward the red dots and killed the snakes from a distance, harvesting more experience points.
Then he checked the map again. It showed resources nearby: coconuts, banana trees, fig trees, and wild berries.
He had brought a sack for emergencies, so he began gathering berries first. Then he approached the banana tree, but they were wild bananas, filled with large seeds and not edible. He moved on to the fig tree, but upon opening one, he found worms crawling inside. His face darkened, and he tossed it aside.
Looking at the map again, he spotted a beehive 4,600 meters away. He hesitated, deciding to return the next day, it was already getting dark.
Back at camp, Torvald had gathered the carpenters and was teaching them the new scale.
Toky, after learning its uses, was thrilled. He couldn't help but say, "Sir Torvald, you're a genius to come up with this scale!"
The other teenagers were still clueless. They only knew the basics, sawing wood, polishing, hammering nails. Measurement techniques were usually reserved for the closest disciples who would inherit the craft.
Even so, they looked at Torvald and Toky with admiration.
To them, Toky was a master craftsman.
Torvald quickly shook his head and replied, "Hey, you're giving credit to the wrong person. Lord Aaron is the one who invented the scale."
Toky and the others were stunned after hearing Torvald's words. Toky even muttered to himself, "So it's Lord Aaron… I didn't think he'd be so knowledgeable."
Just then, Aaron returned, carrying a sack in his right hand.
He walked straight to Kelly and said, "Wash the berries and distribute them to everyone."
Kelly took the sack and was stunned to find at least 4 to 5 kilograms of berries inside, enough for everyone. She didn't hesitate and quickly called Rina and Rita to help her.
-----
Meanwhile, Aaron walked over to Torvald. Seeing him teaching only Toky, he frowned and interrupted, "Torvald, why aren't you teaching the others?"
His words immediately drew everyone's attention. Torvald was caught off guard and explained, "Aaron, don't you know? Only personal disciples are allowed to learn measurement."
Toky added, "Indeed, Lord Aaron. Unless someone is officially taken as a disciple, no one shares core knowledge."
His words made the other teenage carpenters lower their heads in disappointment.
