Chapter 195: Ancestor of the Evergreen Supreme Household
In the next few months, the Firecrown Supreme Household joined hands with the royal family to prepare for the grand wedding ceremony of Princess Danielle and her soon-to-be husband, Great General Fredrinn Firecrown.
The supreme households and the powerful martial households in the kingdom were invited to the grand wedding.
This wedding was a bit special since this would mark the relationship between the royal family and the Firecrown Supreme Household.
Because of this momentous occasion, a small crack appeared which started to break the subtle balance between the kingdom's political power.
The Evergreen Supreme Household felt threatened by the growing strength of the Firecrown Supreme Household and they finally started to take action against them.
At this moment, two days before the grand wedding ceremony, a secret meeting was being held by the important members of the Evergreen Household.
"Do we really have to go this far?" One of the elders spoke, his voice filled with uncertainty.
"What do you mean? Have you forgotten what kind of humiliation we experienced because of Fredrinn Firecrown?! We must kill him!" Another elder spoke, his voice quaking with rage.
The atmosphere inside the meeting room began to boil as the elders exchanged their viewpoints on the situation.
Their opinions were divided. One group wished to end all hostilities with the Firecrown Supreme Household, while the other wished nothing more than their destruction.
Due to the fierce debate between both sides, the patriarch of the Evergreen Supreme Household fell into a dilemma.
In the midst of their fierce debate, an elder who was on either side turned his head to the patriarch and asked. "What should we do, patriarch?"
Everyone's eyes fell on the man who was sitting in the head seat.
This man was none other than Rodwell Evergreen, the current patriarch of the Evergreen Supreme Household and a powerhouse at the 2nd phase of the Void Tempering realm!
Rodwell took a deep breath as he scanned everyone's faces with a deep look.
Soon, his stern voice echoed in the meeting room, silencing all the people present.
"Some of you might not know this since it happened several decades ago."
"The Firecrown Supreme Household was one of the strongest martial households in the Star Wind Kingdom and its power was even at the forefront among the six supreme households at that time."
Everyone held their breaths as they listened to this story.
"They were so powerful that even the royal family had become wary of them. At that time, our two households were very hostile towards each other and there was always a conflict between us. To defeat the ancestor of the Firecrown Supreme Household, our ancestor employed some means to critically injure the enemy which eventually crippled them. We managed to defeat the Firecrown Supreme Household, but we lost two Void Tempering realm powerhouses and our ancestor was forced to enter into seclusion to heal from his injuries."
Suddenly, an elder who didn't want to go to war spoke. "Patriarch, our two households might not have an amicable past, but we can still fix our relationship. Fighting them would only lead to numerous casualties."
"Besides, the royal family wouldn't sit idly by knowing that Fredrinn Firecrown would soon become His Majesty's son-in-law."
Everyone grew silent at his words.
Rodwell nodded. "I understand your worries, but what if I tell you that there was a reason why our ancestor was adamant about destroying the Firecrown Supreme Household?"
The elders frowned upon hearing this.
"The Supreme Snow Art in our possession is a transcendent-rank technique, but this technique is merely the second part of an apex-rank technique! The first half of the technique is in the hands of the Firecrown Supreme Household!"
This was the main reason why he didn't want to give up on destroying the Firecrown Supreme Household.
Rodwell Evergreen wasn't contented with his current power! He wanted to complete the apex-rank technique and elevate the standing of the Evergreen Supreme Household!
The elders were shocked by this revelation. More than half of them weren't aware of this.
"An apex-rank technique…" The elders who were against the war wavered when they heard this.
Apex-rank techniques were a symbol of power and status. Once they gained possession of such powerful martial arts, the Evergreen Supreme Household's power would increase significantly.
"Patriarch, even if we want to get the first half of the apex-rank technique, fighting the Firecrown Supreme Household wouldn't be easy." An elder spoke in a grave tone.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
They were all aware of Fredrinn Firecrown's martial prowess. He was a man who had single-handedly changed the tides of war in the northern borders. A man of such caliber wouldn't be defeated using simple means.
Rodwell sighed regretfully. He didn't want to admit it, but the elder was right.

Because of Fredrinn Firecrown, fighting with the Firecrown Supreme Household was akin to jumping in the sea of flames.
Without enough military strength, they would only be fighting a losing battle.
When everyone was about to give up, the door to the meeting room was suddenly pushed open.
Everyone lifted their head and they all looked at the newcomer with dumbfounded gazes.
"Ancestor!"
"Ancestor, have you finally recovered?!" Even Rodwell was pleasantly surprised to see this person.
The person who entered the room was an old man with green hair. He had a fearsome pair of eyes like that of a true predator.
Despite his thin frame and small stature, everyone was intimidated by the aura he exuded.
This old man was the ancestor of the Evergreen Supreme Household, Richard Evergreen. The last time he had revealed himself to the world, his cultivation was at the peak of the 4th phase of the Void Tempering realm!
However, Rodwell could sense it clearly…
The ancestor has fully recovered and he has advanced to the 5th phase of the Void Tempering realm!
"Ancestor, congratulations on advancing to the 5th phase of the Void Tempering realm!" Rodwell stood up and bowed deeply.
His words immediately made the gloomy elders erupt into cheers.
