Chapter 328: Stalemate, Three Immortals Enter the Scene_1
"The two of you, shall we first seek out Qingyun, or—"
Dream Illusion turned his head to look at the other two Dao Patterns, seeking their opinions.
However, halfway through his sentence, he looked up into the sky, as if sensing something.
"This aura!"
"It's a being on the brink of the Dao Principle stage limit, about to undergo Feathering into a Celestial body. Indeed, it is well-deserved for the renowned Bliss Fairy Island in the River of Cosmos to deliver such a pleasant surprise before we even stabilize our footing."
The Causal Dao Pattern immediately stepped forward, speaking with a teasing smile.
In just a moment,
a giant dark creature with wings spanning a hundred feet emerged from the heavy clouds above them, swooping down directly towards them.
With each flap of its wings, lightning flashed and thunder roared, and its giant claws, like scythes, recklessly exuded an overwhelming ferocity and killing intent.
Behind this fierce bird, two dim Escape Lights could be seen flickering in and out of existence within the clouds, hardly noticeable.
On the ground,
the Causal Dao Pattern narrowed his eyes, bracing against the storm pouring down from the Tianqiong, his gaze colliding fiercely with the gaze of the dark creature in the sky.
"What a beast!" he said, with a three-colored treasure light swirling Jade Ruyi appearing quietly in his hand, poised to strike.
After all, it was a being at the limit of the Dao Principle stage. Without the aid of a Spiritual Treasure, he was not certain he could quickly dispatch it.
No sooner had the sound of his voice faded,
"Fellow Daoist, let me handle this one,"
the Water Dao Pattern pressed down on the hand that was holding the Heavenly Three Jade Treasures Ruyi and said gently,
"You wield a high-grade post-born Spiritual Treasure and possess the strongest combat strength. It's best to keep some of your abilities hidden."
After speaking, he pointed directly at the two faint shadows trailing behind the dark creature.
"Very well,"
seeing this, the Causal Dao Pattern nodded in agreement.
"Haha, for our first battle upon entering Bliss Fairy Island, Water Daoist, do not falter, lest we be ridiculed by our fellow Daoists of the Sun and Metal when we return," said Dream Illusion with a wink and a smile.
"Fellow Daoist jests. It's merely a beast of the Dao Principle stage,"
Water Dao Pattern replied calmly, with a smile on his face. A strand of profound and secluded light emerged in the depths of his pupils, which grew brighter until it occupied his entire field of vision.
It was a world of dark and profound Xuanshui.
Mysterious and bottomless, the water arched towards the sky; turbulent waves seemed ready to engulf and shatter everything.
The silhouette of the dark creature plummeted from the sky at an extreme speed, its body blocking out the light of the sky, creating an eerie sensation as if the heavens had collapsed. Any bystander would have been terrified out of their wits.
Hum! Hum! A continuous tremor suddenly resounded through heaven and earth.
Looking toward the source of the sound, it was surprisingly a pitch-black small flag, with the softness of water and Dao Patterns outlining reflections of the sun, moon, and mountains on its surface.
Around the small flag, ripples of water appeared and dissipated quickly, only to appear and dissipate again, cycling repeatedly in an unending rhythm.
In a moment,
the dark Xuanshui world's projection surged.
The overwhelming power of the world poured into the Black Water Flag of Xuanming. Suddenly, a torrential post-born treasure light soared into the sky.
"Go!" said the Water Dao Pattern as he released his grip.
The Black Water Flag of Xuanming flew out on command. In midair, it made a single spin, summoning endless streams of bizarre Hei Shui, converging into rivers, emanating an aura capable of flooding the world with terror.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The black flag rose and fell without pause, carrying raging black waters into the sky, furiously surging toward the pitch-black bird.
Upon seeing this spectacle,
Screech!
In midair, the dark creature let out an alarmed shriek, the ferocity in its eyes instantly vanished, and with desperate flapping of its wings, its body moved at an incredible speed in the opposite direction.
Clearly, it sensed the terror of the Hei Shui torrent below.
But all was too late.
The pervasive black waters arrived before anything else, submerging the dark creature. Feathers, flesh… all were dissolved without a trace.
In just a few breaths,
the once fearsome dark creature had been reduced to nothing but a large skeleton, slowly falling from high in the sky.
Along with it fell dense Copper Coins, showering down like rain. The coins collided with each other in the air, creating tinkling and tempting sounds.
...
...
Turning back time a few breaths earlier.
"Damn it, if the boss were here, how could we allow it to be so arrogant!" complained a man in white, while he worked hard to conceal himself within the thick clouds to avoid detection by the dark creature ahead.
On hearing this,
the man in purple slightly lifted his eyelids, sweeping his hidden gaze across the hundred-zhang dark creature ahead, and then he turned his head towards the man in white with a smile, explaining gently,
"Haha, didn't the boss take the brothers to chase down that Zhang Jing? If they succeed, won't we brothers benefit, too?"
"Psh!" The man in white spread his hands, showing a trace of disdain: "If Zhang Jing was really that easy to capture, would Mysterious Pavilion have let him roam free up to now? It's been so many years; we've been nearly turning over the River of Cosmos, and what's the result? Isn't that guy still hopping around alive and well?"
"This time is different,"
the man in purple waved his hand and said confidently,
"I heard the boss say that the alliances on Bliss Fairy Island have come to an agreement. This time, Zhang Jing will surely not escape, not even if he leaves Bliss Fairy Island now. After all, he's alone. How could he dare face those old monsters outside?"
"Those old monsters!"
The man in white repeated the phrase dully, his voice growing faint, his face showing a look of deep loathing.
He suddenly burst into curses:
"Damn it, those bastards who couldn't enter Immortal Island actually thought up such a ruthless tactic of interception; they've truly lived long enough to act like dogs! They deserve not to achieve the Realm of Heavenly Immortal."
