Forest Ranger, starting from Picking Up a Lynx Girl

Chapter 572: The Undisputed Darling of Jiamu Gully (Part 2)

Jin Yaya's favorite thing to do is to dig out her little brother, every time she pulls him out from mom's arms, bites his ear, and drags him out, as if urging him to come out and play.

She's too young to know her strength, and every time she bites her little brother, he cries out loudly.

Hearing her brother cry, Jin Yaya would embarrassingly lick him, only to end up biting him again as she licks.

Unlike the lynx cub, Jin Yaya has medium-short fur, combining the advantages of both the lynx and the golden cat. Her physique leans more towards the golden cat, and she's got long legs like a sister.

Jin Yaya's gene analysis results came out after two weeks. The final result left everyone speechless.

It's too academic to explain in detail, so let's get straight to the results. Essentially, the results show that 55% of the nuclear genome comes from the golden cat, hence the paternal-specific genes are highly expressed in the offspring, making her physique and coat color lean more towards the paternal side.

Whether she leans more towards the golden cat or the lynx, the genetic identification shows she is indeed the child of Little Jin and Jinya. This conclusion also debunks some people's belief that Jin Yaya was the offspring of Jinya and another lynx.

After the results came out, the research team's enthusiasm soared, especially with Jin Yaya's physical traits, which were completely different from their previous assumptions, showcasing a typical blend of her parents' strengths and indeed pointing towards an optimal direction in evolution.

(Took many shots before getting a slightly decent picture)

Upon knowing this result, the leaders of the relevant departments called Chen Ying directly, asking him to focus on monitoring Jin Yaya's growth and development. For any needs, reports could be directly submitted, and all departments willing to cooperate would not shirk responsibilities.

To others, Jin Yaya might be an extremely precious research subject, but to Chen Ying, she is the dear granddaughter he has longed for many years.

What a pity Er Niu isn't here, otherwise, this would be a perfect time for a family photo.

Jin Yaya inherited her mom's enthusiastic nature; she's either causing trouble every day or on her way to cause trouble.

As the only cub in the family, Jin Yaya absolutely holds the position of a beloved child, even Xia Ruanyang has to take a step back.

Little Fatty, now in kindergarten, has become more sensible. Upon hearing about Jinya giving birth to cubs, he was desperate to see the little cubs.

Little Sen and Ruan Mengmeng, who rarely take care of their son, had to bite the bullet and ask Chen Ying if they could bring Yangyang to the rescue station for summer vacation.

It was already the end of the summer vacation, with only six or seven days left before school started.

Chen Ying reported to the expert team and had someone bring Xia Ruanyang to the station.

The little guy enthusiastically dragged his custom-made unicycle around every day to help clean animal shed garbage, and actively assisted his father in making nutritious meals for Jinya and the three little cubs.

Despite his small size, standing on a stool at the operating table, he was busier and more skilled than most adults.

The three little cubs accepted the human cub quite well, especially the big lynx cub, who loved lying down in front of Yangyang, with all paws tucked on its chest, stretching its neck out for Yangyang to give it massages and scratching.

The little cub's eyes were also open but was unsteady on its feet. Every time the big brother lay down for a massage from Yangyang, it stayed calmly on the side watching, but resolutely refused to enjoy a massage itself.

As for Jin Yaya, this little one developed faster than everyone expected. In just three weeks, her little legs were already quite strong, and she showed quite a potential for stealth like her dad, Little Jin. She never got tired of the game of sneaking from her mom's arms to jump onto her two brothers from above.

If not for the two lynx cubs accompanying her, Jinya would have been frightened away long ago with her high spirits.

By the time all three could stand and walk steadily, it was almost four weeks.

Perhaps because Jinya was in excellent condition and her postpartum diet was comprehensive, the overall developmental progress of the three little cubs was faster than the average for lynx cubs.

While other lynx cubs were just starting to crawl around their nests, barely able to support their bodies with their little legs, these three had already started exploring rooftops, routinely engaging Jinya in nose-picking, eye-digging, and ear-biting assaults.

Once the experts confirmed they could be outdoors for one or two hours a day, the adult animals at the rescue station were in for it—carelessly you might find a lynx cub latched onto you.

Little Jin loved his daughter very much. Once allowed to approach her, this cat dad turned into a doting father, letting her grab, bite, and use him as a cushion to sleep.

His long tail was his daughter's favorite; she'd pounce and bite it every day, a true cat toy indeed.

Compared to Jin Yaya, the other two lynx foster cubs were not very fond of approaching Little Jin. They preferred interacting with Brother Leopard, whose equally long tail could lift them both at once.

And Bai Bingyang, who was slimming down, appeared as an insurmountable mountain to the three cubs. Every time Bai Bingyang lay down to rest, exhausted, Jin Yaya would summon her two brothers, and they'd strive to climb onto Bai Bingyang's back via his hind legs.

Once halfway up, Bai Bingyang would mischievously shake his body, and the three would be back to square one.

This also became a rare pleasure during Bai Bingyang's tough weight loss journey.

Seizing the gap while the three cubs played with Bai Bingyang, Jinya shook off her fur, stretched, and decided to venture into the woods.

Around the front of the small building, she reached the medical area, found a large tree, and climbed up. From above, Jinya looked down at the female lynx resting outside the medical area shed.

It was the biological mother of her two foster cubs.

The female lynx's life had been saved; her cervical fractures and fissures were in recovery, but she likely couldn't nurse her cubs anymore. After all, she had two relapses in the past half month since rescue, nearly not making it.

The most precarious time was when her heart rate and blood pressure suddenly dropped, and everyone thought she was a goner, but Chen Ying pulled her back from the brink of death.

After that incident, the female lynx finally stabilized, but the damage to her internal organs was irreversible, and she was destined to have a shorter life and slower recovery compared to other lynxes.

Chen Ying had originally thought of reuniting the two little cubs with their mother, letting them visit Jinya just for nursing. But upon hearing that a new mom was willing to foster her cubs, she outright refused Chen Ying's proposal.

Of course, Jinya didn't mind, but she wanted to know which mom would abandon her cubs. When she found this female lynx, Jinya fell silent without uttering a word.

The other was wrapped like a mummy, needed help to move, and looked at the sky with silent, vacant eyes, rendering Jinya's intended reproach unspeakable.

"I'll take good care of your cubs," Jinya finally softly called to the female lynx after hesitating for quite a while, receiving no response but a couple of glances from the other.

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of them, and my daughter will take good care of them too."

The female lynx's eyelid twitched, then partially closed her eyes. The latter half of the sentence was unnecessary. Though she's not capable, the cubs' father was quite reliable and would probably not leave two cubs to a little female lynx to care for. If it ever came to that, she wouldn't acknowledge the cubs as her own!

Jinya didn't know what the female lynx was thinking; she simply felt that since she cared deeply for her cubs, other animal moms might too. Therefore, during free time, she'd come over to chat with the female lynx, telling her about the little cubs' progress, like how they learned to walk or pounce and bite.

Today, there was a bit more to share—the three cubs started tasting food!

Normally, at about one month, cubs would be introduced to semi-digested prey brought back by the mother. But Jinya insisted otherwise, persuading Little Sen to provide minced meat for them to taste.

Sister Leopard even gave her a beating for this, but no matter the beating, she wouldn't change!

Finally, Little Jin personally fed the minced meat to the three cubs, letting them taste it, try licking and chewing tiny meat pieces, which helped exercise their young milk teeth.

While their rice-like milk teeth couldn't tear, or even crush larger meat bits, the three eagerly smacked their lips, chewed on tiny bits of meat for over ten minutes without a scratch!
