Chapter 1486: They're All Their People
From the moment we successfully entered the Abyss Core through the Abyssal Big Mouth, everyone could run away. The stories crafted afterward were merely to extract information about Gemez Fortress. We didn't expect the fortress to be this cooperative, yielding an overwhelming bounty of intel.
From the name of the creator of the Boundless Space Hole—the Star Mover—to the quantity of God Stars within it.
Who would have thought such a vast Endless Cage houses only two Half-God Stars, with the half being the Ancient Godlight? The Gray Divine Star, however, seems to have been collectively overlooked.
There's also the upper limit of the energy level, the purpose of the endless cage, and more. The amount of useful information is vast, and Anthony must slowly sort through it all to grasp a semblance of clarity.
They had long known the Endless Cage was meant to imprison a God Star. But why imprison rather than detonate? Clearly, they could explode numerous God Stars just to free up space to build the Endless Cage. What makes the Ancient Godlight so special?
The more information we gather, the more questions arise in our hearts.
...
Meanwhile, at Gemez Fortress, the conversations with Anthony replayed in his mind. To his understanding, Ange and his people have nowhere else to escape to because, in the void, there are only two God Stars. Perhaps there are others on the other side of the Boundless Space Hole, but he doesn't believe Ange and his team can reach the other end.
The Boundless Space Hole itself spans a distance even God Stars cannot traverse. The distance to its other end would be doubled; he never considered anyone could leave the Boundless Space Hole, nor did he think anyone could cross it to the other side.
So, Ange and his people have nowhere to escape; as long as they prevent them from depleting the God Stars, they can trap them all when his main body arrives.
As for talk of leaving through the Gate of No Boundary, Gemez Fortress dismissed it, not taking it seriously. These people have no idea what the Gate of No Boundary truly is, thinking it's merely a gate.
Anthony believed he had gathered much information, but Gemez Fortress also gleaned much from his words. Just like how the Emperor plows the field with a golden hoe, you can instantly gauge his level. At Anthony's level, there is no way to leave the Gate of No Boundary, unless...
At this thought, Gemez Fortress suddenly recalled Ange's face, the one person he couldn't see through. Being of Time-Space Ancient Dragon bloodline, if something were to change, it would undoubtedly come from him.
At this moment, Gemez Fortress's thoughts were interrupted when King Fei Lie reported, "Main star, they've probably all left. Should we deactivate the Destruction Ball to let you reclaim the Abyss Core?"
Gemez Fortress shook his head instinctively, then noticed something amiss. He stopped halfway and said, "No, they control the Destruction Balls. Retaking the Abyss Core is too risky. They could easily toss a Destruction Ball down here; it's like dust, inert until activated. It would easily eject me, and being ejected once costs too much."
To seize the Abyss Core, Gemez Fortress projected a small part of his consciousness here. When expelled by the Destruction Ball, he lost half of it, equating to about one-eighth of his consciousness strength.
Consciousness strength has a critical point: below it, it cannot fully control the main body. If it continues to fall to the next critical point, his consciousness would be ejected, much like the Little Fireman.
Consciousness strength can recover over time, but very slowly. If disrupted by more Destruction Balls, he would have to hide and slowly recover.
"Should I turn it off?" King Fei Lie asked.
"Turn it off, and check if the Abyssal Young Body that fell in earlier is still alive. It did a lot of work," Gemez Fortress replied.
He still believes the Big Mouth to be an Abyssal Young Body. After all, in the ruins formed by the Devouring Abyss explosion, birthing an Abyssal Young Body is far too easy. Ange's Rock Ball encountered many during its advance.
"Additionally, go find the Fog Whale. I have some questions about the Gate of No Boundary for it, and have it bring me a giant spider skeleton," Gemez Fortress added.
King Fei Lie awkwardly noted, "The Fog Whale has severed contact, no longer at its original spot, probably hiding to avoid our reckoning."
"It ran?" Gemez Fortress was momentarily stunned and waved him away irritably. "Forget it, go ahead."
Once King Fei Lie had left, Gemez Fortress waved again, watching his own gesture for a long time.
When he instinctively shook his head earlier, he realized he was influenced by the human consciousness he had adopted.
As a God Star, he naturally had no language or emotion. During his conversations with Anthony, the habitual gestures, expressions, and language use brought a strange sensation to Gemez Fortress.
For example, in one area of the Master Plane, people shook their heads to affirm, whereas elsewhere nodding signifies affirmation. Without understanding, others only see him continually shaking his head, inexplicably.
This is what Gemez Fortress felt; thus, to better understand Anthony's words, he randomly picked a human to adopt his consciousness. Consequently, he could indeed comprehend some of Anthony's expressions and actions.
However, this consciousness exerted significant influence on him, causing habitual gestures even outside conversations with Anthony.
Nevertheless, this wasn't a serious issue, just something to be aware of. Gemez Fortress didn't even bother to correct it intentionally.
Unfortunately, the human consciousness he chose wasn't a cunning individual, thus he failed to realize that human expressions and actions also convey abundant information. To some Old God Sticks, Gemez Fortress appeared as naive as a baby.
Soon after, King Fei Lie returned to report, "Couldn't find that Abyssal Young Body."
"It might've died. Stay here; I'll go find them," Gemez Fortress remarked before darting out of the Star Attraction, dragging himself toward the God Star.
The remaining three Star Skeletons almost simultaneously mirrored his actions. Anthony had suspected these Star Skeletons to be controlled by fragments of Gemez Fortress's consciousness, and from their synchronization, this theory was confirmed.
Just as they moved, the Deceit Tree relayed the news to Ange.
Gemez Fortress believed the Big Mouth to be an Abyssal Young Body, assumed the Fog Whale was on his side, and thought the Deceit Tree was in cahoots with him. Hence, when the Deceit Tree's branches peeked around nearby, he hadn't driven them away.
He couldn't be blamed, though—who could have predicted it? King Fei Lie had witnessed the Fog Whale and Deceit Tree clashing with Ange's group before. How had they become allies in a span of mere months?
"Is it starting? Great, let's test my new invention, the Star Attraction Tracer." Durken, who had been occupied, suddenly pulled out a bunch of devices resembling Wind Mirrors upon hearing the news.
