Chapter 4: Quens and her standard
At nineteen years old, Kelsey is as tall as her brothers are, six feet and three inches, just as they are all physically lean and well ripped. She only had them as her role models, she wasn't the type to always be stuck in the skirts of her mother, who always questioned and judged everything about her as if she was the one choosing her features in a mall.
She was free to forge her own path, on top of that her mother doesn't like being all sweaty in a gym or anything of the sort that can make her sweat, it's disgusting in her opinion.
Kelsey wouldn't even have brunch with her mother alone if the boys and her father weren't there. She has always believed in her brothers and knows she can count on their support in everything she does. However, she has very few mother-daughter moments. In fact, she can count on her fingers the number of times she has spent one-on-one time with her mother.
"For our Sisy and her happiness. If that's what you want, we'll let you cross the threshold to the altar. But in the future, don't let your future husband, mother, father, or in-laws make decisions of this magnitude for you. You have rights, and you have the right to exercise them. This is not a dictatorship, nor is it a sect, and it is certainly not a stupid monarchy. We are a family, and a family respects the choices and needs of each of its members. We support each other and we help each other."
"That's what Father always taught us, right? I admit I don't understand his decision to follow Mother in her delusions. Since I can't talk you out of this marriage, I trust your judgment. We will support you in everything you do. You will always be our little sister, even though you are far away from us. So call us if you need us, we will come to get you at any time and anywhere you are." Kwanley was serious and the second part of the… it was as if he wished he could break some legs and necks to vent his frustration.
It is not yet clear whether the words are intended as a toast, a speech of support, or a revolutionary statement. However, the other two brothers wholeheartedly accepted his words, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to their little sister. She is their little treasure, and they will continue to cherish her regardless of her age or social status.
The hairdresser and her subordinates were out of breath, as if they had been running a marathon for hours without rest or water. They had no idea that the cold guy could be so protective and talkative. They would absolutely love to be in Kelsey's place, and even more so in Kwanley's bed. But there is a layer for dreams too.
"May your marriage be a success, Sisy. And don't mistreat him too much if he doesn't deserve it." Tekori added with a half-amused, half-sad smile, his eyes glinting with a demonic intensity, it was as if he was waiting for his sister to traumatize the Lockes' pretty boy.
He is not ready for his sister to marry such a spoiled brat at such a young age. He would love to see her dominate this pretty boy with her spoiled princess ways.
He blames his mother for his sister's situation, but what can he do if Kelsey won't challenge the decision and fight for her rights? If she had spoken up against the marriage, they would have supported her and protected her from their mother's potentially challenging attitude and whoever for that matter.
"I drink to your happiness, little sister. You must be happy in this marriage, even if you have to step on someone else's happiness. Take care of your own happiness first, that's exactly what our mother did to you. She stole your happiness for her own good." Tash added with a bold confidence that was evident in his voice.
He couldn't even feign happiness for his sister and believe that she would be happy in this marriage she knew nothing about but he can be confident that his sister will not let anyone bully her without putting up a fight. So if the Locke's think marrying their son to their family is a win, oh well they will have a run for their money.
Sisy, by her little name, let out a sigh, then raised her glass to her brothers with a beaming smile. She said calmly, "Cheers, boys. I love you, but don't worry. I won't let anyone walk all over me." She smiled and downed her glass in one go, all this tension and aggression in the room making her thirsty.
If only she had her brothers as parents, she wouldn't have time to rebel or think about the future. They would have taken care of everything for her according to her needs, tastes, and inclinations. Her life would also be boring and dull as hell.
Sometimes in life, you have to fight for who you are and what you want. Sometimes when you get everything easily, you take it for granted and do whatever you want without a care in the world until you lose them all and it will be too late to go back in time to strike yourself in the head. She doesn't like her mother's behavior, but she doesn't mind a little rebuke from time to time.
Of course, Her mother's rebukes are always for trivial things or things she has no control over, but she still welcomes them. She's alive, and it makes her see her mother in a different light. She still likes and welcomes the challenge.
What her mother thinks is motherly love and concern is really just contempt for her daughter. Kelsey came to understand a while back that her mother has a negative view of her. But she has so much love from her brothers and father that it doesn't matter to her what her mother thinks or how she shows her love.
The lady is certainly attractive and lovely, but not as mentally stable as one might assume. She's a negative influence on her daughter to the point if the latter was not well surrounded she would long do something stupid.
Oh, that can't be! Just look at her drinking her champagne in one gulp! She's really going for it. What would her mother have said if she were there with them?
Kelsey doesn't say, and she doesn't believe, that this marriage is a good thing in itself. She's not foolish or naive. But she won't let her mother use her brothers to force them into a corner to do something they don't want to do, using her as a means of pressure, since the contract protects them from any kind of manipulation.
So she makes sure she doesn't put them in tricky situations because of her and her complexities. As her brothers are committed to her happiness, she wants nothing but happiness for all four of them. Her father deserves to be happy, and she knows how much he loves and spoils his wife. So why mess up a great family just to make one person happy? It's just a wedding, not a funeral.
And then there's this thing too... It's a great opportunity, and it won't come around again. You have to strike while the iron is hot, they say, right?
Like her older brothers, Kelsey absolutely loves her freedom! But, sadly, the boys don't have much time before their freedom ends. She wants them to live life to the fullest with what little time they have left, especially Kwanley, who has only six years left before he gets to devote himself body and soul to his duties as first heir and begin preparing the new generation of heirs to come.
Meanwhile, outside in the large courtyard, where the altar has been set up in the open air, an elaborate and complicated decoration has been set up, creating a truly magnificent sight to behold!
An incredible artificial forest has been created for the occasion, filled with magnificent flying angels, graceful swans, vibrant flamingos, elegant peacocks, and adorable cupids with their bows and arrows shooting hearts which disappear in the air shortly after.
It's absolutely amazing! It's like a representation of the Garden of Eden or something out of this world, with all kinds of trees and flowers arranged to form a dense forest, in the middle of which is a clearing where guests are invited to sit on chairs made of tree trunks that look like they've just been freshly cut down. It's so creative!
They've created their own Garden of Eden or fairy tale world, and it's absolutely breathtaking! It's exactly how they imagined it would look in time, and it's incredible! The swans, the flamingos, the peacocks—it's all been done with a form of dexterity like no other!
The house has been transformed into an integral part of the garden, with climbing plants reaching from the ground to the roof. It's clear that a lot of time and effort has gone into creating this stunning result. Whatever they did, it was totally worth it!
As they say, if you have the means, nothing is impossible.
Near the streams of water that flow everywhere on both sides of the green entrance of the large driveway, a truly magical sight awaits! Scented petals of all kinds fall from the sky, carried aloft by the baskets of angels that fly across the garden to the clearing. The scene is nothing short of breathtaking!
And in the trees, there are fairies of all colors with pretty wings, all cute, flying from branch to branch, singing subtle and melodious melodies, making the decoration even more magical and surreal!
Oh, how did they make the little fairies, the flying angels, and the chubby and slender Cupid?
Oh, it's a closely-guarded secret, but one thing we do know is that the ColdGuard are the largest and most advanced technology corporations on the entire planet! Who knows what kind of amazing technology they used!
Maybe they are little robots or something like that!
Some people even speculate that the ColdGuard supplies the government with highly sophisticated weapons, and that is why their company continues to develop successfully over the years without any rumor of bankruptcy running amok about them not even once. People are sure to be disgusting sometimes!
But who knows? Maybe they're just bitter folks letting off steam, or maybe they're onto something!
Anyway, they all know very well that the ColdGuard works in a whole range of amazing fields, including medicine, industry, construction, agriculture, and more! But there are some people who just love to pick on others, especially when they are envious and jealous.
As agreed between the two families, the ColdGuards took care of all the preparations for the wedding, the decorations, the entertainment, the needs of the guests, and so on. There was no way that Mrs. ColdGuard would miss such an opportunity to show the world what it was like to live as a Coldguard.
The money they've spent so far could be put to better use! Why not help out some needy families on other continents?
They could have done so much good for years to come! But for their daughter and their family image as a great financial guru and other pretensions, they are willing to give everything!
Besides, it may be a bit extravagant in the eyes of the international community, but to them it is just a pinch of what they could spend to make this day great! After all, they only have one daughter, and they want to make her wedding the best day of her life!
Quens, Kelsey's mother, the bride of the day, has always dreamed of an extravagant wedding fit for royalty. While her parents didn't have the same financial means as her husband, they were determined to make their daughter's dream come true!
Kelsey is so lucky! Quens gets to go all out to make this day absolutely amazing for her.what a good, considerate and concerned mother she is. Her own parents didn't understand the need to play the star of the world by investing everything they have without thinking about tomorrow in a wedding that only lasts one day. But that's okay!
Quens always thought that her parents were a little underwhelmed by the preparations for her wedding. They were not that excited, and the wedding was not as extravagant as she would have liked.
But they were responsible for the wedding because they cared about their reputation, and they spent a lot of money to make it a truly special day. Special, huh? Maybe for them it was but not for Quens, it was a miser.
She was eighteen, even though she wasn't an only child, her parents should have made a lot more effort to at least reward her. Even if she wouldn't be the heir to their fortune, she still deserved it considering the amazing person she brought them.
To this day, she keeps her mother in a corner of her heart, that miser.
