Chapter 4: Chapter 3: Me? Crucified? WTF???
Mavis's POV...
Today was my birthday, so I was going to convince Dad to let me go out of the castle and see the humans.
Whenever I heard about humans when I was a kid,
I was scared.
But later, as time passed, whenever I heard about them,
I became curious about them.
But my father always rejected the idea as soon as I told him.
This time I will convince him.
I hung upside down from the ceiling while I was thinking deeply.
Mavis's POV ends...
Creak...
"Good morning, Mavy-Wavy! Happy Birthday, my little mouse!"
Dragula opened the door and entered Mavis's room enthusiastically while searching for Mavis's right and left.
"Thank you, Dad. I know it's my birthday."
Mavis jumped down from the ceiling and rolled her eyes.
Dragula started to talk about the plans he had for her birthday, but Mavis interrupted him and started to ask him to let her go outside.
To her surprise, Dragula said yes with a genuine smile.
While this conversation was going on,
Mavis noticed two people entering her room.
When she saw them, she hugged them happily.
"Mom... mom... this time Dad allowed me to go and see the outside world."
Hearing this, Martha turned her head towards Dracula and looked at him with narrowed eyes, but Dracula avoided her eye contact a little nervously.
"Come on, sis, do you want to go outside?"
A girl who looked exactly like Martha questioned Mavis a little worried; her name was Darcy.
To which Dragula nodded his head while patting Darcy's head.
"Dad, you said that when I turned 118, I could go out into the world like every other adult that gets to come and go from this hotel."
With the permission of her family, Mavis turned to her bat form and jumped through the window.
'Finally, I am going to meet humans.'
Mavis flew away emphatically towards a cemetery which Dragual said was a landmark to the human settlement.
Looking at Mavis flying away, Martha turned towards Dracula.
"Drac, what are you planning to do now?"
She questioned Dracula without taking her eyes off him.
"Well... I fulfilled our little mouse's wish."
While avoiding eye contact, Dracula lies with an awkward smile.
"____"

Both Martha and Darcy looked at Dracula with dead eyes.
"Oh... I forget I need to receive an important guest."
He hurriedly turned towards the direction where Mavis left.
When Mavis entered the human settlement, she started to call anyone present curiously.
There, at one of the shops, she saw different dresses, so she went near and took a closer look.
Suddenly, humans started to appear menacingly, carrying sharp weapons in their hands and started chasing Mavis without hearing her explanation.
While all this is happening, Dragula is standing in one of the dark corners.
'Everything is going according to plan.'
These were the only thoughts in his mind.
'Dad was right; humans are scary.'
Mavis looked at the furious humans a little disappointed.
Seeing his daughter sad, Dragula felt guilty and comforted himself that this was for his own daughter's safety.
When Mavis was about to turn into bat form and fly away, suddenly her vision was blocked by someone's back.
"Hello, beautiful lady, don't be scared."
She heard a manly voice that attracted her, and she looked up.
When Mavis looked up, her eyes widened seeing a handsome young man standing before her with a gentle smile on his face.
She was mesmerized by the sight.
Seeing someone interrupt his plan, Dragula started to panic.
The zombies disguised as humans also stood still and didn't know what to do now.
Seeing the humans who attacked her earlier stopped in their tracks, Mavis became confused.
When Leo turned around, both his and Mavis's eyes met.
Zing...
When their eyes met, there was a purple layer that passed through their eyes with a zing.
'His eyes... he looks very handsome.'
While both are mesmerized seeing each other, Dragula in the dark corner looks at the scene with wide eyes.
Cough... Cough...
"Come with me; it's very dangerous here."
Snapping out of the trance, Mavis took Leo's hand and started running before he could reply.
Both of them ran out of the human settlements.
Sigh...
After arriving at a safe distance, Mavis heaved a sigh of relief.

There was an awkward silence between them.
"Hi... I am Mavis Dragula."
Breaking the silence, Mavis introduced herself with an awkward smile.
This was the first time she was having a conversation other than with her family and her father's friends who come to visit their hotel from time to time.
"Hi!... I am..."
When Leo was about to introduce himself like a gentleman, Tom.
"Leo!!!"
Dragula came out of nowhere and crashed into Leo from behind.
Crash...
"Leo!!!... Leo!!!... you are back!"
Dracula shouted, holding Leo tightly with stars in his eyes.

Mavis was shocked and curious looking at her father who was fanboying someone.
"Drac... you have grown up, huh..."
Leo tried to cheer up Dracula, who started his monologue about how he tried to find him but wasn't able to find him through his teary eyes.
"Dad, do you know him?"
Mavis looked at Leo curiously, asking her father.
"Oh... my little mouse, the one standing before you is the progenitor of our monster kind, the great Leo Morningstar. Ble... ble... ble..."
Looking at his curious daughter, Dracula puffed his chest proudly and introduced Leo excitedly.
Hearing this, her eyes widened in realization;
She just met someone whom the monsters worship, the one the humans fear the most, the one who stopped the great war single-handedly, the one she admired from the stories she heard from her father, etc...
While she was in deep shock, Dracula didn't notice this and started to push Leo and Mavis towards the hotel excitedly.
After entering the hotel, Leo was shocked to see that Dracula's wife, Martha, was still alive, and also he had another daughter named Darcy.
After welcoming him, Martha looked at both Leo and her eldest daughter and nodded understandingly.
She dragged recalcitrant Dracula, who was trying his best to stay and chat with his childhood idol a little longer.
Darcy placed her hand on Mavis's shoulder and gave her a smile that belonged to a typical wingman.
Whistle... Whistle...
Left while casually whistling.
"Can I ask you something?"
Mavis asked cutely, holding her hands behind her back.
"Yes."
"Have you stopped the great war? Do humans fear you? Are you a monster progenitor?"
After getting permission, she started to bombard Leo with questions without giving any time him to answer.
"Hehe~ Sorry."
Realizing what she was doing, he knocked her head lightly while giggling.
Even though both Leo and Mavis met a few hours before, they felt a connection between them, like they had known each other for many years.
While chatting for some time, both became close easily and got along well.
When Leo heard the stories about him, he looked at Mavis with dead eyes.
'Don't tell me you believe all those.'
These were the only thoughts in his mind.
For example, in one version, he hunts the panties of the women monster hunter who travels at night.
In another one, he gave his chastity to one of the humans to protect a group of monsters.
In another version, he was crucified and hanged on the reverse cross and died after hearing the prayer of monsters who were hunted by the humans; he came back to life in a few days, etc., etc...
'WTF???'
Hearing those stories from Mavis, Leo's eyes twitched seeing himself in the drawing version of the tale book Mavis showed him.
There were a whole lot of books about him inside her room.
"____"
'Don't tell me. These are all different versions of his story.'
Hotel's reception...
Martha was scolding her husband angrily for fooling their daughter.
If it wasn't for Leo who interjected in her husband's plan, he would have been caught, and Mavis would have been hurt.
After receiving an earful of scolding from his wife, Dracula lowered his head guiltily and noticed his younger daughter was enjoying the show of him getting scolded.
Sigh...
But he looked relieved because his youngest didn't try to leave the house and meet humans like his oldest and consoled himself not knowing she was going to get married to a human.
He took the offer vouchers of his hotel and gave them to the customers in the reception area while inviting them to his daughter's birthday party.
Cling... Cling...
He heard the bell sound of someone entering the hotel. When he looked at the rolling door, he was shocked, and a few flashback images of humans came to his mind.
