Chapter 30: Chapter 30 Lore The Leader? Chinese Teenagers Lead The Team To The Bundesliga?
Union Berlin withstood a wave of offense and cleared the ball from their backfield. It landed right at Quinin's feet!
Before anyone could react, the young player sped up and dashed along the right flank.
"Union Berlin's counterattack! Quinin is dribbling with determination, like a high-speed Mercedes on the highway!"
The Berlin United fans, who had been holding their breath the entire second half, finally erupted in cheers.
"Come on, Christopher! Go, go!"
"Charge!"
"Break through them!"
Cologne coach Storger wasn't worried. His team was well-trained and quickly recovered their formation. With only two opponents in the front, and at least seven of his players back in defense, what could go wrong?
Union Berlin assistant coach Hofstadter frowned. "Quinin's run is too reckless! He should wait for his teammates and organize the play!"
Neuhaus raised an eyebrow. "What's Su Luo planning?"
He could tell this was Su Luo's idea. The Cologne defense was organized; their full-back and defensive midfielder blocked Quinin's inward path, forcing him to the sideline. Meanwhile, Su Luo attracted the attention of four players. The two central defenders marked him closely, with the right-back covering for any unexpected moves. Midfielders were ready to contest any loose balls.
By all accounts, it seemed impossible for Su Luo to find an opportunity.
Quinin dribbled to the edge of the penalty area, with no room left. He couldn't see Su Luo through the sea of Cologne players.
Gritting his teeth, Quinin accelerated and almost reached the end line. Just before the ball went out of bounds, he crossed it, hoping for a miracle.
"It's up to you, Su! My 1500 Euros!"
The cross floated behind Su Luo.
"It's over, I messed up..." Quinin thought.
The commentators echoed his thoughts. "Quinin took it too deep, and the pass wasn't of high quality," Sauer remarked.
But Su Luo had a plan. As the ball flew behind him, he stopped abruptly, risking a split, and managed to stretch his foot to stop it. The ball bounced up to waist height—a difficult position to control.
Two midfielders closed in from either side. Su Luo had less than half a second. Even with Messi's skills, it seemed impossible.
Then, Su Luo shocked everyone. He didn't stop to adjust or pass back. Instead, he pivoted 270 degrees on his left foot, raised his right foot, and volleyed without looking at the goal.
"Without aiming, where can he shoot?" was the thought on everyone's mind.
The ball turned into an afterimage, slipping through the defenders. The next second, the net trembled violently.
The ball had flown into the goal!
The Cologne goalkeeper stood stunned, not even raising his hand. He stared at the goal in disbelief, thinking he might be dreaming.
The Rhine Energy Stadium fell silent, then erupted with cheers from the visiting fans.
"Strike! Toooooor!!!" shouted commentator Sauer, amazed by the spectacular goal.
Even neutral observers couldn't help but admire such a beautiful goal. Su Luo had perfectly coordinated his position, body, and technique to pull off a world-class strike.
"I didn't expect Quinin's poor cross could result in such a fantastic goal at the last minute!" Sauer continued.
"The young Chinese player completed his second hat-trick in the Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals in 4 games! His efficiency is astonishing!"
"Yes, he's a surprising talent," Kahn praised, imagining himself in the goalkeeper's shoes. No one could have predicted Su Luo's move.
Of course, the most excited person was Quinin. "Beautiful, Su! My 1500 Euros are safe!!" he shouted, rushing to celebrate with Su Luo.
Union Berlin teammates joined in, celebrating wildly.
Neuhaus and Hofstadter hugged and shouted excitedly.
"He really did it! We won!"
"Yes, Uwe, you were right! We beat Cologne!"
"Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
Excitement and despair are always linked. Coach Storger was devastated.
"How? How is this possible? What went wrong?" he muttered. Losing 2-3 at home to a mid-lower team was unthinkable. He dreaded facing the fans' outrage after the game.
Cologne, demoralized, failed to equalize. The game ended dramatically with Union Berlin winning.
"The game is over! This 13th round clash of the Bundesliga ends in a thrilling way!"
"The miraculous Chinese boy continues his streak!"
"A hat-trick and a game-winner! He leads Union Berlin with unstoppable momentum!"
"After defeating Cologne, they've quietly risen to sixth place in the standings!"
"It looks like the Bundesliga is beckoning to this team of steelworkers!"
