Chapter 263: Chapter 263 Messi, Ronaldo, And Su Luo Fans Fight! The Champion Is Today!
"Old Dynasties Fall, New Dynasties Rise?"
The usually precise and realistic German football magazine Kicker broke tradition with an abstract headline after Barcelona's shocking 3-0 home loss to Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. Media outlets from all over the world chimed in on this highly anticipated matchup.
With Su Luo and Messi—the two top players—facing off, the world's eyes were glued to the game. Most people believed that while Su Luo might have a slight edge, it would be a closely fought battle.
But the result? Barcelona's complete collapse stunned everyone!
Fans around the globe were left speechless.
"What? Is this still the same Barça that won six titles in one season? Is this really the MSN trio everyone feared?"
"Why has the Dream Team of the third dynasty fallen so far?"
"This is unacceptable! How could my Barça end up like this?"
On the other side of the internet, some fans were more confrontational:
"Maybe Chelsea is just too strong."
"Su Luo has scored 67 goals in the Premier League this season, 22 in the Champions League, and over 100 across all competitions! How was Barcelona ever supposed to win?"
"Come on, even Messi in his prime might struggle against Su Luo. Forget about it now."
The debate quickly turned into a heated argument:
"Oh, Su Luo is amazing, is he? How many major titles does he have? Oh, right, just two Bundesliga titles and a League Cup. Big deal."
"If you haven't even won a Champions League, don't act like he's the best."
"Idiota! Su Luo has only been playing professionally for a few years. How long has Messi been around? Are you really comparing the two based on trophies alone?"
"Just wait. The next title and Golden Boot will be Su Luo's, and then we'll see."
While fans clashed online, professional media outlets like Kicker remained focused on serious analysis of the match.
"Both Barcelona and Chelsea are currently at the forefront of European tactical trends—pressing high, emphasizing movement, and physicality," one article explained. "However, the DNA of these teams is fundamentally different."
"Barcelona still leans toward possession-based play, relying on intricate passing to pull apart the opponent's defense."
"Chelsea, on the other hand, are all about efficiency. They start with a solid defensive foundation and launch quick, devastating counterattacks. They rarely need more than 10 passes or 24 seconds to finish a move, making them faster than a basketball fast break."
"And the results speak for themselves: efficiency beats control. Barcelona had 68% possession, took 16 shots, but only managed five on target."
"Chelsea? Just 32% possession, six shots, five on target, and three goals. Their efficiency ranks first in Europe."
As for the players, Kicker continued:
"Chelsea's N'Golo Kanté alone shut down both Iniesta and Rakitic. Iniesta's age is showing; his ability to win physical duels has clearly declined, and he's no longer able to compete at the highest level."
"In attack, Messi and Neymar were out of sync in the first half, leaving only Suarez up front. He was well-marshalled by Rudiger and David Luiz, and rarely posed a threat."
"Conte, true to his Italian roots, has a brilliant defensive setup. For Barcelona to stand a chance, they'd need to be at their absolute best, and today they just weren't."
"As for Chelsea's offense, Su Luo's brilliance transcended tactics. His explosive runs and dribbling made him unstoppable, no matter where he attacked—left, right, or center. He always found a way to create danger."
"Barcelona didn't just lose this match—they were completely outplayed in every department. From tactics to individual performances, Chelsea had the upper hand. The collapse at Camp Nou could either force Barcelona into a tactical overhaul or mark the beginning of their decline."
While Kicker remained relatively neutral, other outlets were far less restrained.
The Sun and Bild were quick to heap praise on Su Luo:
"Su Luo has officially surpassed Messi, proving his claim as the world's best player!"
"With Su Luo leading Chelsea to victory, he's now conquered both Messi and Ronaldo!"
"There's a high chance Chelsea will face Real Madrid in this year's final. After dispatching Messi, Su Luo will now have to face Ronaldo in a battle of the titans!"
"Could Chelsea be on the verge of starting a new Blue Dynasty?"
Meanwhile, the Catalan media were in mourning. The front page of Sport was stark, using only black and white.
"Camp Nou has fallen! The Scourge of God has arrived!"
"Enrique has been summoned by the Barcelona board for an emergency meeting. He could be sacked at the end of the season."
"MSN might break up this summer, and Messi's contract renewal has been postponed."
Marca, Real Madrid's mouthpiece, wasted no time in mocking their rivals:
"Barcelona no longer represents the best of La Liga. Leave Spain's glory to Real Madrid!"
"Real Madrid will meet Chelsea in the final and, with our experience, we'll crush them."
"Messi is now third—Ronaldo and Su Luo are fighting for the top spot."
"This final might just be Ronaldo's revenge!"
Barcelona's shocking defeat overshadowed the next day's match between Real Madrid and Juventus. In contrast to the Su Luo-Messi battle, only Ronaldo stood out on the other side, and the match lacked the same hype.
Real Madrid defeated Juventus 2-0 at the Bernabéu.
Like Chelsea, Juventus tried to use a 3-man defense and high pressing to stifle Real Madrid. But Real isn't Barcelona. Their front three—Ronaldo, Benzema, and Bale—are all physically strong and capable of advancing with the ball.
Juventus' counter-attacks didn't succeed, but Real Madrid capitalized on two of their own, with Ronaldo and Bale each finding the net.
However, Ronaldo only has 14 goals this season, while Su Luo is leading with 22. The gap is widening, and it's clear Ronaldo won't catch up.
It seems Ronaldo has conceded the race for the Champions League Golden Boot to Su Luo.
In the post-match interview, Ronaldo, trying to stay composed, said:
"The Golden Boot doesn't mean anything. The most important thing is winning the Champions League. We have a lot of experience in finals, and I've personally played in several of them. So, I'm confident!"
Chelsea had just beaten Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League, but they still had a Premier League game to play next—against Middlesbrough, scheduled for Saturday. The second leg of the semi-final would be on Wednesday night, giving Chelsea only about three and a half days of rest.
Conte decided to field only a half-strength lineup. Key players like Kanté, Lukaku, Azpilicueta, and others started on the bench. Only Su Luo was named in the starting lineup.
Thanks to his incredible recovery abilities, Su Luo could easily handle playing multiple matches a week. His ability to bounce back had even impressed Chelsea's fitness coach, who praised him more than once for his quick recovery, which was unlike anything they'd seen before.
Confident in Su Luo's fitness, Conte was happy to let him start. After all, if they won today, Chelsea would secure the Premier League title with three games to spare. Their opponents, Middlesbrough, were sitting second-to-last in the table.
With only four matches left, Middlesbrough were already 13 points behind Watford and had only managed 24 points from 34 games. Their relegation was all but confirmed.
If Middlesbrough had been fighting to avoid relegation, they might have put up more of a challenge, but the team was already broken. Many of their key players—like Traoré, Negredo, Downing, Gibson, and Fabio—were looking for new clubs. The team had practically fallen apart.
For these players, the result of the match didn't matter as much as their individual performances. They were more interested in showing off and impressing potential buyers than playing as a team.
Chelsea fans were surprised to see such disjointed play from Middlesbrough. Players like Traoré and Fabio, whether in attack or defense, kept dribbling too much, trying to hog the spotlight like showboating peacocks. This completely ruined their team's cohesion, making it easy for Chelsea to break them down.
"Cesc Fàbregas! He steals the ball and quickly finds Su Luo!"
"Brilliant! Su Luo spins away from Chambers with a beautiful Cruyff turn!"
"My goodness, he's going for it!"
"He shoots! Su Luo scores within the first 3 minutes!"
"What a way to break the deadlock with a stunning shot from the edge of the box!"
"That's Su Luo's 68th Premier League goal this season! Can you believe it? 68 goals!"
"Even if you combine all of Ronaldo's goals across all competitions this season, it's still fewer than Su Luo's!"
Commentator Zhan Jun could barely contain his excitement, but even he had to acknowledge that the game was turning into a one-sided affair. Chelsea's domination had only just begun.
Just two minutes later, Chelsea struck again on the counterattack. Negredo held onto the ball for too long, allowing Azpilicueta to easily dispossess him.
Kanté saw an opening and sent a perfect through ball to Su Luo, who was leading the attack alongside Mount and Moses. Su Luo faked receiving the pass, dropping his shoulder and pretending to break through. Everyone expected him to dribble past the defenders, but instead, he let the ball roll past him!
It was a brilliant dummy, and the ball went straight to Mount, who was onside. Mount coolly slotted it into the far corner.
"2-0! And we're only 10 minutes in!"
"Middlesbrough's defense wasn't bad just now, but Su Luo's feint fooled everyone. He didn't even touch the ball, but he made the goal happen!"
Su Luo hadn't scored the second goal, but there was no doubt he was the MVP of the match so far. As the TV director replayed the previous move, Chelsea's attack pressed forward once more.
This time, it was Mason Mount again, capitalizing on Su Luo's vision and passing.
"Su Luo, what a pass! He's showing his playmaking abilities now!"
"A long pass from the back, over 60 meters, perfectly finding Moses on the wing!"
"Moses is through on goal—one-on-one with the keeper—and he calmly slots it home! 3-0 in just 30 minutes!"
Zhan Jun's commentary was full of confidence.
"This match is over, no question. There's no chance for a comeback now."
It was rumored that Premier League officials had already brought the championship trophy to Stamford Bridge. With less than an hour to go, it seemed Chelsea were about to be crowned champions.
"Su Luo's first Premier League title is on the way!"
