Flash Marriage: The Domineering Wife

"Are you sure that's wise? Edward's desperate now and when he's that, he's dangerous. We should escape now that we have the chance to."

Tai scoffed as he listened to his brother-in-law talk. "You know, when Song suggested we enlist you for help, I wasn't too keen on the idea now, I remember why. You're a weak man Jinn and it's a wonder you've survived all these years in the mafia."

Jinn Yang's eyes grew wide as he watched Tai grab the gun on his table and point it at him.

"You're a liability Mr. Yang and you'll be no use to me when I takeover."

"So you still believe..."

But Tai pressed the trigger, releasing the bullet that shut Jinn Yang up, forever.

"Yes, I do."

He crossed over Jinn's stocky figure crumpled on the ground as he made his way out of the office.

"Get the girl and meet me on the rooftop."

Song who had been rushing to get her husband so they could escape paused.

"Let's just leave her Tai and go away. This fight is not ours anymore. Your men have fallen in numbers. I've already sent the girls away."

Tai looked at his wife and cocked his head to the right, "I just killed your brother for suggesting the same thing to me," he raised the gun at her, "Do you want to suffer the same fate?"

Song's eyes grew wide with shock. She turned around and ran to the room where they had locked Amy in.

Even blood can't stop the thirst for power.

"Sir!" Viktor yelled to Edward. "Tai Pin's office is on the fifth floor."

Edward nodded. He shot the two men heading for them before running into the elevator with Viktor following closely behind. He hit the button for the fifth floor.

When they arrived, Edward went into stealth mode. The hallway was quiet and he didn't want to alert Tai of their presence. They tip toed to the open door at the end of the hall where they were met with Jinn's dead body.

Edward stopped moving as he assessed the corpse, He had anticipated this. "Tai Pin isn't here."

Viktor stopped searching the room and turned to face his boss.

"We'll split up and find him. You go downstairs to the underground tunnels, I'll go up."

The guard nodded and left the room. He hadn't yet gotten any feedback from the men he had sent to find Amy and that worried him a lot. He took to the stairs and climbed to the floors one after the other looking for the man that had caused him so much trouble all these years.

Tai's army of bloodthirsty men poured out from every corner in numbers and Edward killed them all. There was no sign of Tai himself on any of the floors until he got to the rooftop where he found Tai running for the chopper with a bound Amy struggling beside him.

Edward shot into the air stopping them from running. Tai grabbed Amy and spin her around until she was facing Edward with his gun pointed at her head.

Just then, Song ran up and Edward grabbed her, keeping her in the same position as Tai.

"Edward my boy," Song whispered shakily, forcing a smile.

"I'm not your boy anymore you treacherous leech."

Song gulped.

"Let Amy go and I won't have to shoot your wife."

"Oh that's fine, I'll shoot her myself."

"Wha..."

The shot penetrated her heart before she could get the words out. Just like her brother earlier, Song Pin fell to the ground in a heap of white as the blood spread from the hole in her chest.

Edward staggered, shocked by Tai Pin's outrageous behaviour. He looked up at the man with wide eyes.

"Now, I'll give you my options," Tai said. "You give me your position with the mafia or you say bye, bye to your baby and it's mother."

"All this just for a seat at the head of a table that will never accept you?"

"Never accept me? You forget that I once was a member of that table."

"Yeah, and you left."

Tai Pin laughed, "No, that's where you get it wrong, I never left. I've been planning this takeover for a long time. When I killed your parents, I thought the swoop in would easy for but then someone had to go and fill his daddy's shoes."

Edward gasped. So that car accident hadn't been an accident. He should have known.

"My father was your best friend. How could you? He protected your family!"

"Oh please, there are no friends in the mafia, didn't anyone tell you?"

Edward shook his head. He couldn't believe this. But the shock was slowly turning to anger and he began to inch forward for Tai Pin.

"Careful now," Tai warned him from moving any further as he pushed the gun closer to Amy's temple.

But Edward was only seeing red. Tai Pin had made him really angry now.

"You took my parents. There's no way I'm letting you take my wife and child Tai Pin."

Without hesitation, Edward threw the knife he had taken out of his pants while Tai Pin had been distracted by his blabber, the weapon hit the man square in his forehead and he fell to the ground. The gun rolled out of his hands and Edward ran for Amy. He pulled her into a hug and squeezed her to himself.

"I'm so sorry Amy. I'm sorry all of this happened to you."

Amy shook her head, "Shh, shh, it's okay, Edward. It's okay."

Just then Viktor ran up and paused as he assessed the scene. He smiled at Edward and Amy who stood in each other's arms. "Good to have you back ma'am."

Amy nodded, returning his smile.

"I'm never letting you out of my sight, ever, do you understand me?"

"For now, I'll contest the overprotectiveness later."

Edward shook his head. She was still the same stubborn Amy.

"So, your wife huh?" She had heard clearly when he'd called her his wife.

Edward lifted her head so she could see clearly the love that burned in his eyes for her. "Marry me, red."

"After all of this?" Amy chuckled, "Hell yeah!"

And there, amidst the dead bodies and bodyguards, the two kissed.

THE REUNION [Epilogue]

"Gu Zhou eat your food." Chynna said with a line etched between her brows. It has been months since the death of her friend and they were still hiding the truth from her brother. Chynna knew she couldn't hide the truth forever she needed to tell him but how do you tell a kid his only family is dead?

"I won't! I want my jiejie. What are you hiding from me? It has been months and my sister hasn't called not even once. Has she abandoned me? Doesn't Jiejie want me anymore?"

Gu Zhou stared at Chynna his ears swam with tears. Chynna sighed squeezing her eyes shut. She squatted beside Gu Zhou and took his hand in hers.

"Don't say that Gu Zhou, you sister loves you. She will never abandon you" Chynna said, her heart aching with the death of her friend. Despair twisted and turned inside her as she bit back tears of grief.

"Then why hasn't she called me? Did something happen to her? What are you hiding from me?!!"

With a defeated heart, Chynna put her face in her palms and wept. Seeing the energetic Gu Zhou over whelmed by sadness, anguish stabbed her like knife.

"I'm.…..so sorry Gu Zhou. I'm Sorry…."

Chynna broke down her voice thick with sorrow. 'Your sister is dea-"

Chynna never got to finish her words as the sound of doorbell ringing interrupted her. She didn't know whether she should be relieved that the doorbell has saved her or she should be angry now that has gathered the courage to tell the poor boy the truth someone had to interrupt her.

She stood up and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Gu Zhou stay here, okay? I'm going to see who is at the door."

Without waiting for his response, Chynna fled from the depressing dining table. Once she reached the door, she took a quick deep breath and peered in the pinhole.

Edward Wu was standing there with his hands in his pocket. Chynna scrunched her brows. Even through the hole she could see something has changed about Edward. The air of sorrow that seemed to surround him was gone. Has he finally gotten over the death of his friend?

"Edward?"

Chynna called once she opened the door. Edward entered pressed a soft kiss on her cheeks as he greeted her.

"Chynna, how are you?" Edward asked with a smile plastered on his face. His smile quickly morphed into a frown when he saw the tears staining her face.

"Why are you crying? Did something happen to Gu Zhou?"

Chynna shook her head and nibbled on her lower lip.

"He asked me about his sister. I couldn't help but break down. I'm sorry Edward…. I broke down because I'm tired of hiding the truth from him. He might just be a kid but he deserves the truth."

Edward only nodded and touched her shoulders.

"I know this might have been hard for you too. Keeping your emotions in check because you didn't want to raise Gu Zhou's suspicion. But I have a surprise for your guys."

Chynna furrowed her brows, "Surprise?"

"Yes, where is Gu Zhou?"

"He is in the dining room."

Edward made his way to the dinning room with Chynna behind him. The moment Edward saw Gu Zhou his heart couldn't help but ache for the little boy. He was shrouded in sadness.

"Gu Zhou…." Hearing Edward's voice, Gu Zhou looked up and ran towards him. He hugged Edward's legs and looked up at him.

"Edward, you finally came to see me! I thought you have also abandoned me like everyone else."

Gu Zhou's words stinged Edward because he had been too busy looking for Amy that he had abandoned the boy.

"Sorry about that. I will make it up to you, okay? You can pick the next vacation location."

Gu Zhou pressed his lips together and shook his head.

"I'm not going anywhere without my sister."

Edward tousled Gu Zhou's heard with a soft smile on his face.

"Alright then, I have a surprise for you."

Chynna couldn't help but worry about Edward's surprise. Was he going to introduce a new woman to them and tell Gu Zhou the truth?" She knew that would be cruel but she couldn't help but let her imagination run wild.

"Close your eyes, no peeping ". Edward's excited voice snapped Chynna out of her thoughts.

She followed them as Edward took Gu Zhou to the door.

"Ready lil champ?" Edward asked Gu Zhou, turning around to look at Chynna with a soft smile.

Okay Chynna was freaking out. The Edward she knew never smiled like this. Never. He only let out a forced polite smile. Now she was dying to see the surprise Edward was hiding.

Edward opened the door slowly to reveal a woman standing there. Her back was facing them, but Chynna could recognize her friend even from the back.

Chynna suddenly became still, her adrenaline spiked as sucked in a deep breath.

"A-amy?"

The woman turned with a wide smile on her face.

Chynna took a step back, with a slow disbelieving headshake. Her eyes dropped to the woman's stomach and her hand covered her mouth.

"It can't be. How-why" -Her disbelief suddenly turned to anger. With tears streaming down her face, she run away towards her room.

"Chynna. Wait!" Amy called out but her friend was already gone.

"Jiejie! " Gu Zhou who didn't notice Chynna out of excitement jumped hugging his sister tightly.

"Where did you go jiejie.? I miss you. I thought you didn't want me anymore."

Amy lips curled into a sad smile.

"I'm sorry…Gu Zhou. I-I " Amy looked at Edward for help as she fought back the tears she was holding. Fuck pregnancy hormones. She didn't want to cry because she was afraid her brother would worry.

"Champ can't you see your sister's big stomach?"

Gu Zhou's eyes widened in amazement. He had been so excited to see his sister that he didn't notice her big stomach.

"Wow jiejie were you making a baby with uncle Wu all this while?"

Amy blushed and let out a soft laugh.

"Yeah, we wanted to surprise you. So do you like our surprise?"

Edward smiled instantly, Gu Zhou frowned as he looked between Edward and Amy.

"What's wrong champ?" Edward whispered.

"So, this means you will marry Uncle Edward and have a family with him?"

"Yes, why don't you want me to marry him?"

Edward tensed as he looked at Gu Zhou twisting his hands in front of him.

"Yes."

Amy looked up at Edward. She didn't know what to even say.

"I-Why not?"

"Because once you get your own family, you will leave me all alone. You will be too busy with them."

Amy smiled, "No, I won't. We always going to be family. You will live with us and play with your little nephew. You can teach him how to play football or play your favourite game. Don't you want that?"

Gu Zhou smiled and looked between the Amy and Edward.

"Really?"

Edward nodded, "Yeah really."

Gu Zhou jumped to hug Amy.

"I can't wait to meet the baby. We will have so much fun….!"

Amy lifted her gaze to look at Edward and he could see the sadness in there.

"You can go and talk to Chynna. I will be in the living room with Gu Zhou."

Amy gave him a grateful smile.

"Gu Zhou stay with your uncle. I'm going to talk to Chynna."

Gu Zhou nodded and turned to Edward.

"Have you picked the baby's name yet? I can help you…"

Smiling softly, Amy left the boys alone and went to her friend's room.

"Chynna….?""

Amy pushed the door opened since it was unlocked and walked in.

Her friend was sitting on a chair, her back facing Amy.

Amy stood behind Chynna without saying anything. She knew her friend had to process everything.

"So all this while, you were alive?"

Chynna finally broke the silence.

"Yes." Amy replied.

Chynna let out a sad chuckle.

"Do you know Amy, why I can't face you?"

Chynna sniffled.

"I'm ashamed. When I heard you were dead, I didn't mourn you. No, I never cried not even a single tear dropped from my eyes. I didn't think I deserved to mourn you. When that crazy bitch stabbed you, I wasn't around. I was out of the country parting while my friend was on the hospital bed fighting for her life.

Then you got kidnapped and I wasn't even around. I'm such a bad friend Amy. I-I…."

Chynna broke down as her throat thickened with sobs.

Amy crouched beside her friend and wiped the tears from her face. She had no idea such a huge guilt was weighing on her friend's shoulder.

"It's not your fault Chynna. You didn't know this was going to happen and Edward didn't inform you when I got stabbed. You're the best friend any one can hope for. You didn't just find me a job. You found me a family. See?"

Amy said as she stroked her stomach gently.

"My child will have the coolest godmother in the whole world and that's is you Chynna"

Chynna widened her eyes, "You want me to your child's godmother?"

Amy chuckled at her friend's reaction. "Yes, and not only that, I want you to help me plan a wedding."

Chynna screeched. "Yes!" She jumped from her chair and nearly knocked Amy over as she wrapped her arms around her

"Oh my God. I'm so happy for you. This is awesome. I can finally be a bridesmaid."

Amy laughed at her excitement. "Won't you ask me whom I'm getting married to and whom the baby belongs to? Aren't you even curious about what happened?"

Chynna posture stiffened, "Wait, is not Edward? Did you get rescued by a guy and you lost your memory, fell in love with him and now you're pregnant with his child. Like in that movie we were watching?"

Looking at the serious look on her friend's face, Amy bursted into laughter.

"No. I-I didn't."

Chynna let out a deep breath. "Thank God. Anything but that cliché thing actually happing to you. You know how much I hated that movie!"

"Yeah, I do know"

"We are having a sleepover tonight. You are going to tell me everything that I happened and whom I'm going to kill for getting you pregnant without my permission-."

"That will be me." Edward came inside the room and wrapped his hands around Amy's waist.

"I was worried so I decided to check up on you. Seems you guys have made up."

"Yeah…you're the father?"

A proud look formed and Edward's face and he nodded.

"Yeah…and I'm the one she will be getting married to."

Chynna opened her mouth and closed it. Everyone in the circle knew Edward wasn't a family man. Chynna couldn't help but worry for her friend. She would have to talk to Edward in private not to hurt her friend.

"What's wrong?" Amy asked seeing the frown on her friend's face.

"Nothing."

Edward lifted his gaze to Chynna and nodded. He knew he would have to convince her that he really loved his friend and wouldn't hurt her. His work made his family vulnerable but he would die before he lets anything happened to them.

"Alright, let's order pizza. I'm hungry." Amy whined.

Edward pressed a kiss on her cheeks, "Alright. I will go and order the pizza."

The pizza arrived shortly after. Gu Zhou came to call them downstairs.

Edward had spread the boxes on a wide table. Amy went to sat down beside him and Gu Zhou took up the other side.

Chynna threw herself down the sofa between Amy and Edward causing him to scowl at her. Gu Zhou handed a coke of bottle to Chynna. She took it, pouring herself a glass.

"So when is the wedding?" Chynna asked between bites.

"After Amy gives birth. I don't want her stress out during her pregnancy."

Chynna nodded. Amy shifted causing Chynna to inclined her head towards her.

"Are you okay?" Chynna asked.

"Yeah, I'm just a little emotional seeing all of us eating pizza together." Amy said letting out a little chuckle.

Chynna smiled and pulled her friend closer.

"Don't think about the past anymore. Let's focus on the future."

She raised her glass of coke, "To the future."

Edward picked his and Amy her glass of water as they toasted to new beginnings.

"To the future."
