Faulty Utopia

Chapter 531: Chapter 541 Red

Smith hadn't been in contact with Sun Jack, who had taken over his brother's body, for long.

But under his leadership, Smith's busy mind finally began to ponder certain things instead of being consumed by torturous work and all kinds of entertainment.

He realized that life wasn't just a linear existence between two points, that his own suffering and hardships weren't because he wasn't trying hard enough.

He realized that an 18-hour workday was wrong, that spending half of his day's earnings on a watermelon was wrong, and that random shootings happening on the streets were also wrong.

In his unaware contemplation, he was led by a beam of light into the interior of the spacecraft carrier, and soon his system popped up a warning of a forceful invasion. "New recruit! Tell me your name! Branch of service!"

"Yes, sir! Name: Smith! Branch of service: drone operator! Not only can I multitask and operate nanoworm drones, but I am also proficient in most AI logic modules on the market, able to precisely pinpoint tactical bugs in all intelligent AI air units!!"

"Did I ask you for your strengths? From now on, only answer what I ask you!"

"Yes, sir!"

Smith soon saw his nervous system being rapidly invaded and modified, his ICE swiftly upgraded, his networked data monitored, his hormone secretion recorded, and many training modules and command functions crammed in, none of which could be canceled or deleted.

However, he knew all this; from the moment he signed the enlistment agreement with Utopia Security, it was all written in the contract, and he knew what would happen.

The next second, a constantly updating profile was rapidly created. "Forget your name! New recruit! From now on your code is DW3941! Follow the auto-navigation to find your dormitory!"

"Yes, sir!"

Following the pop-up icons on the ground in front of him, Smith hopped onto a hover car nearby; the spacecraft carrier was too vast, layer upon layer, and he feared he wouldn't reach his dormitory on foot even in a whole day.

When the dormitory door opened, Smith was surprised to find a robust woman doing weightlifting inside; seeing him enter, she raised an eyebrow at him. "Hey? New here?"

"Hello, roommate! I'm Smith, pleased to meet you."

"Number 44." The woman reached her hand out. "There's a total of four people in our dorm, the other two will be back soon."

"What are their names?"

"The one next to you is Solomon, the one behind you is Neural Key."

Hearing this, Smith quietly noted the names.

"They are veterans, for anything related to combat, just ask them, don't ask me, I am from engineering."

Just as Smith was about to say something, dinner arrived, delivered swiftly by a robot, and placed under the table by his bed.

Dinner was luxurious, mashed potatoes with chicken and lettuce, served with cream of mushroom soup, and there was even dessert fruit.

In the past, he might not have had a meal of such caliber even once a year, yet now it was offered here for free.

"Aren't they coming to eat?" Smith bit into a cherry the size of a fist.

"Those two are devout followers of Sun Jack and like to attend Liberation Theology activities. Sometimes they go to pray and don't come back for meals." Number 44 spoke while transferring the two's food onto her own plate.

"These two guys are always so secretive," he said. "I've seen them talking to Sun Jack's clones like they knew each other from before."

The moment Smith heard this, he perked up, "I heard that there are quite a few Sun Jack clones in our team, right?"

"Of course, with so many people all listening to one Sun Jack, it would be impossible to coordinate everything so efficiently and stably without his clones in the mix."

"Sun Jack's clones generally hold key positions in the organizational framework, responsible for inspection and leadership. You usually keep your distance when you see them."

After finishing his speech, Number 44 started eating voraciously, stuffing his mouth while saying, "Speaking of which, you're a local from Paris? Why didn't you stay? Is there still discrimination against white people and heterosexuals in Paris now?"

"No, it's a lot better now. After Sun Jack arrived, there's been no open discrimination against white people in Paris. I just didn't want to help Sun Jack; he saved me, so I wanted to come and help him. What about you, Number 44? How did you get here?"

"Me? I came looking for my brother, but I never found him. Somehow I just ended up here," Number 44 replied.

While the two were casually chatting, a message popped up in front of their faces, Level 2 battle preparedness.

Hearing this, Number 44 wiped his mouth, "Let's log on, Level 2 battle preparedness. Looks like it's about to start."

"Starting? Where are we going?"

"Who knows, wherever Sun Jack tells us to go, we'll go."

As Smith logged on, the number of people appearing in the various data in front of Sun Jack increased by one. Seeing the battle losses being replenished, Sun Jack nodded, "We can't wait any longer. The FFP reinforcements are here. Prepare to depart for the next city."

With Sun Jack's orders, the Himalayas spacecraft, surrounded by dozens of spacecraft carriers, slowly set sail once again, this time for Berlin.

If this continued, the FFP would eventually be unable to withstand it.

However, just as Sun Jack was preparing for the next battle, a piece of information from Tapai shattered his plan.

"Jack, Detroit is gone, the city where the headquarters of the Liberation Theology is located is gone!!"

"What did you say?!" Sun Jack stood up abruptly, looking at him incredulously. "I'll share the drone camera feed with you."

Soon, the image of a city completely engulfed in flames appeared in front of Sun Jack.

Hovering above the inferno was the Sky-base Weapon that Sun Jack had seen before, now wreaking havoc over Detroit.

Under the barrage of laser beams, the entire city utterly fell apart, and the huge red flag of the Sickle Hammer Cross, previously hanging from a high tower, rapidly crashed into the flames as the tower collapsed, burning to ashes.

"How could this have happened! Why didn't I receive any messages?" Sun Jack hurriedly tried to contact the Sun Jack that was with AA.

However, he received no response, not knowing if the signals were being jammed or if it was something worse.

"Perhaps from the very beginning, their target was Detroit. The previous skirmishes with us were just a charade," Abu said from the side.

"I had previously felt that the battles with FFP weren't intense enough. Now it seems, from the beginning when they let you confront Solomon, it was all a diversion, a feint to distract us while they targeted Detroit."

Sun Jack clenched his teeth tightly, his eyes almost splitting, as he watched everything in the footage. He watched the churches being consumed by flames and the citizens crying out in despair.

Just then, a mechanical arm rested on Sun Jack's shoulder, "From now on, it's just us left."
