Fate of Mirithia [LitRPG, Isekai]

Chapter 306 – A Parting Gift

Meera dodged to the side just in time as an ice lance flew barreling past. She had hoped that it would impale the Heirarch and his most loyal servant would do him in. But the ice lance disintegrated into nothing as it came closer to the Heirarch, as if he had an invisible barrier. It was astonishing to say the least, but the man's composure didn't break.

Raevan tossed Lainor aside as if he were nothing but a sack of potatoes. Lainor lay on the ground, bloodied and beaten. Only from the gradual rise and fall of his chest, and she knew he was still alive. She was relieved that he wasn't gone yet, as he was her ticket out of here if she could survive long enough to find an opening out of here.

Meera activated Spectral Dominion and called forth three shadow warriors, and sent them all at the Elder. He had taken some damage from his fight with Lainor, but overall, he looked like he could be trouble if she underestimated him. He was around her level, and she had killed things much stronger, but then she didn't have to worry about a level 900 monster at her back.

Raevan eyed her like a hungry beast. "You will rue the day that you decided to come here."

Meera drew a deep breath and let it go. Her armor transformed into her preferred black and gold form. Her chakrams appeared on her arms and back. She pulled off two chakrams and littered the room with mirror shards from her armor.

Raevan flinched, but Elrasil stayed put, as if he had nothing to worry about. He walked over to the table on the side and sat down to read a book. But he wasn't reading; he was, in fact, drawing something. Meera didn't have the time to see what.

She sent her three shadow warriors at the Elder, who was immediately on the back foot and was more than tired from his fight with Lainor. But even still, he kept all the shadow warriors at bay, while shooting skill after skill into them, weakening them with each attack.

Meera could've jumped into the fray at any time, but she wanted to study his moves first, and he didn't fight much differently than any other Frostweaver. However, his skills were definitely stronger, wilder even. However, they caused no damage to the room. His ice attacks would evaporate before they did any real damage to the room. She didn't know if it was the runes embedded in the wall or if it was Elrasil's doing, but the room stayed as it was. That irked Meera more than she would ever care to admit.

Right before the final shadow warrior fell, Meera hurled her chakram at the Elder. The warrior dissipated into the wind, and her chakram was there to take its place. Raevan's eyes widened, and he dodged to the side a little too late.

Her chakram left a nice little cut along his cheek. To Meera's surprise, it didn't embed itself in the ice wall of the Spire, but instead clashed against it and fell to the ground.

"You bitch!" Raevan roared. "I will kill you."

Meera sighed. "Elrasil, will you interfere?"

"No, I never interfere in the fights of my children. Raevan is more than capable for this fight."

"Good, because I'm going to butcher him."

Meera teleported and appeared beside Raevan. She activated Druvis Might and punched with all she had. The Elder blocked her fist with a last-minute shield, which shattered to splinters and sent him hurtling across the room.

He tried to jump to his feet, only to flinch as he moved his broken arm. That brought great satisfaction to her, but her anger hadn't subsided yet.

She teleported once again and this time launched Mirror Shard Fury at him. She had positioned herself in such a manner that if he moved, the shards would go straight for his dear leader. To his credit, he did not move and blocked them with an ice shield.

Her next instinct was to unleash Mirror's Wrath, but instead, she chose this moment to teleport once again, leaving a deep cut on his leg with her chakram. He cried out and dropped to one knee. She teleported to his back and left two more cuts, followed by another on his arm, which was holding the shielding.

Then the Elder exploded in a spray of ice shards with a roar. Meera couldn't teleport away in time to avoid some damage, but her front side was still pretty banged up. She activated Greater Vitalize and was ready to jump into the fray again, but found that she couldn't move.

Her feet were entwined with icy roots that had sharp thorns. She knew this skill. It froze the receiver in place. The roots climbed up her legs as they travelled up her body and paralyzed her whole body. A chill spread throughout her body, and her breath became puffy. She knew if it weren't for Cryoward skill, she would be frozen solid by now.

Raevan must've thought that too because there was a slight frown on his face. Meera fought the roots to move, but the ice was covering her slowly but surely.

"So much for your jumping around, girl," Raevan barked as he came towards her. "You thought you could come in here and kill His Eminence in his sleep like he was a babe. You overestimate yourself. Just because you triumphed against the sorceresses and the dragons, you think you can do the same with us. No, just like our Lord, we will be your end. With your death, nothing will stop him from rising and finishing his holy mission."

Meera shivered as the cold seeped into her bones. "D-Doubtful. My brother still lives, remember."

"Not for long," Raevan said. "We will finish him just like I will finish you. Unlike the sorceresses, I won't make the mistake of taking you prisoner."

Meera wanted to reply, but the ice had reached her throat, and she was shaking uncontrollably, or that was what she had wanted the Elder to think.

He stopped in front of Meera, with a viciousness on his face that she had only seen from rabid animals. There was no mistaking it; this man was a psychopath, and she would be his end.

An ice sword formed in his hand, and he thrust it into her chest. Just as he did, she teleported behind him. With Druvis Might active, she punched his spine and activated Quaking Fist, wreaking havoc in his body.

He convulsed on the spot, as if he'd been the one who was frozen. There was a cracking sound as his spine shattered and he shot through the ice that was holding her and into the wall. He crumpled to the ground, screaming in agony.

His half-burnt face looked at her in part hate and part anger, even as he screamed. She walked over to him, making sure that the Heirarch hadn't moved. He hadn't. He was busy drawing something in his book. Maybe it was her Ascendant nature, but she sensed danger from him. She had to finish this fast.

She hurled her chakram at the dying Elder and teleported to tower over him.

"You shouldn't have called me a bitch."

"Y-Your Eminence…" he called weakly. "Help…please."

Elrasil's serene face finally looked up from his book. "I'm sorry, son. I said I would not intervene. Maybe our Lord wants this. Consider it his will and go from this world in peace."

Meera was about to cut his throat open, but an idea came to her. She knew it was a mad one, but this was the only way she could think of at the moment to get out of here. Since technically, her fight with Raevan was still ongoing. That meant the Heirarch couldn't intervene. So, Meera launched her chakram at the broken man and hit him in the gut, and left him there. She teleported to the unconscious Lianor and poured a Health potion down his throat.

His wounds sealed up. He awoke a moment later and noticed where he was. Elrasil was smiling at the man, and Lainor immediately backed up.

"Meera, we need to—"

"I know." She teleported back to the dying Raevan, picked him up, and threw him at the calm Elrasil.

He didn't even move from his spot and continued smiling at Meera. She didn't bother to wait for his reaction and jumped to Lainor, picked him up, and was running down the stairs, when Raevan looked like he had crashed against the Heirarch. But he simply crashed against the invisible shield of Elrail and fell to the ground.

Now, Elrasil stood. "You should come back and finish your fight, Meera. It's not fair to Raevan. You're stealing a glorious death from him."

An ice wall formed in front of Meera. She punched at with Druvis Might, and it cracked, but didn't break. She had to punch it again for it to shatter entirely. She was at the door in minutes when Lainor cried out.

There was an ice arrow sticking out of his back, with a piece of paper rolled around it. Meera yanked it out and was about to discard it when Elrasil spoke.

"To prove that I was speaking the truth, I will let you go if you will carry a message to the Princess, and then, if you so wish, you can leave all this behind and go to the wardens. The Glacidrak will not hunt you, but you will have to find your own escape from here."

Meera grunted and shoved the message into her Hoard Belt. She deposited Lainor on the ground in Raevan's office and gave him another Health potion. He chugged it down in one second.

"Is there a way out of here?" Meera asked.

Lainor nodded and pointed to the stairs. "Two floors down…" He huffed. "The door on the right holds the Gateway Mirror."

Right then, the door burst open and nearly a dozen cultists poured in, ice weapons in hand and murder on their minds.

She gritted her teeth and stood. "Looks like we're doing this."

Using Mirror Bolt, she took off five of her chakrams from her back and launched them all at the oncoming horde. Right before they connected, she activated the chakrams' size-altering ability and expanded them all several-fold in size. The cultist's eyes widened in shock as they were not prepared for this.

The first row was cut in half immediately.

The remaining wizened up quickly and formed an ice wall to block off their escape attempt. Meera recalled her chakrams and drew in a deep breath.

The cultists looked up to see what she was about to do, and that was the last thing they saw.

She activated Shadowflame Devastation.

Black fire swept the room and eradicated everything it touched. Nothing was safe from it, safe for the infernal ice walls that nothing seemed to harm.

The ice wall the cultists had erected was gone in seconds, followed by the cultists themselves. The hot flames left nothing, not even the bones.

"Let's go," Meera yelled.

Lainor stared wide-eyed at her, and then back at the door that led to the room with Elrasil. "He's not dead."

"We will be dead if we don't get out of here."

They raced down the steps, but before she left, she noticed something peculiar on the walls—water droplets. She had no time to think about it as shouts were coming from downstairs. More cultists were coming up the steps.

Meera took the lead and kept her chakrams ready. They jumped through the door that Lainor had mentioned before they clashed with the cultists. Meera activated Spectral Dominion, and she ordered them to hold the door.

There was a pair of guards standing by the Gateway Mirror, but by the time she turned to deal with them, they were lying in a puddle of magma, courtesy of Lainor.

One by one, they stepped into the mirror and were gone.
