Unwelcome Guest IX
"You want me to go directly to the middle of enemy territory when it is entirely possible for hostilities to break out?" Jun questioned in a ridiculing tone.
Morgan and Penthesilea also glared at her for even suggesting such a foolish thing as if it was a matter of course.
Grayfia then opened her mouth to immediately offer a more reasonable offer and have Kuoh be the meeting location but before she could do so, Jun spoke again.
"Let me guess, Grayfia-san was about to make an offer to change the meeting location to Kuoh instead?" He questioned with the same ridiculing tone as before.
"Hmm . . . It seems that no matter how caring, jovial and casual Sirzechs Lucifer seems to be, one does not reach such a position and maintain it without knowing how play the game of high society. Trickery and politics seems to be an unexpectedly strong suit for your husband eh?" Jun continued.
Clearly, his words seemed to anger and disturb both the silver haired maid as well as Rias, Sirzech's little sister but before any of them could open their mouths to complain, he casually continued with his monologue.
"He probably said something along the lines of, "It is easier to gather the lees cooperative representatives in the Underworld but if he refuses, I'll take care of convincing them to go to the meeting.". Even if those were not the exact words, it was something along those lines no?"
Grayfia could only freeze. Although it was not a hard deduction to make, the silver haired maid realized what Jun was hinting towards, where he was going to go with the conversation. Rias on the other hand, did not realized anything wrong in particular and said as much.
"Isn't that onii-sama just trying to make it easier for both sides?" She questioned, believing her dearest brother was only acting out goodwill.
"Of course not little Rias. A ruler does not last long if his decisions are based on such things." Jun responded.
"The reason he said that, and only that to Grayfia-san, was because he assumed he could read thoughts and/or emotions to a certain degree so if he told her his entire reasoning, I might feel it from her." He continued.
"He was most certainly right about that, I am very adept at reading others, however . . . He also assumed I lacked the political/diplomatic awareness to not figure out his true intent so long as my people reading skills could not be used. And clearly, he was wrong about that." Jun concluded.
"What is the matter then?" Penthesilea seemed not to grasp what was going on other than the fact that their supposed ally had put a lot of hidden intentions in the message delivered by his wife and maid.
After all, as a straightforward queen who had the respect, fear and adoration of all her people without needing to resort to such "underhanded" tactics, the amazon never really needed to learn such things.
Morgan was already emitting a chilling intent that seemed to be sending shivers down the spine of everyone present, barely containing her cold rage that threatened to wipe out the annoying race whose members seemed to have a penchant for disrespecting her husband.
Still, she knew that was not said husband's wish and, having sworn her entire being to him and never being disappointed since, the Fairy Queen decided to withhold her punishment.
That being the case, Scathach, who seemed to be the most versatile of Jun's wives whose skill set seemed to extend to just about everything useful and plenty of useless things as well, took upon herself the duty of explaining the hidden intentions of the Crimson Haired Satan since she too had noticed them, even faster than Jun did as she was far more skilled than him in that aspect.
"Setting apart the initial scheme of making sure no one who knew the true intentions behind the invitation to make contact with our husband, there are several other things one must consider." Scathach started.
And this time, everyone paid attention to her like a learning moment, even Jun since she was still superior to him in this aspect and thus, her analysis would most likely be more complete than his.
This was something the Queen of Dun Scaith very much enjoyed. She liked being relied upon by those who she approved of and with Jun being both her beloved husband as well as her greatest student who had already surpassed her in many aspects, being looked to for teaching by him felt exponentially better.
"First let us assume our husband rejects the invitation to the underworld. it was an invitation made politely by someone with no ill intent like Grayfia so, even if he found it displeasing, his attitude would be too bad." Scathach continued.
"But if said good intentioned individual then offered to make the meeting happen in husband's territory instead right after wards, any sort of displeasure would disperse. As such, even with just this sort of consideration, making the initial invitation is like taking a gamble with no risks." She explained.
"I see . . . If our husband accepted, then great but, even if the initial invitation was met with some displeasure, it would be easily dispelled so there would be no issue." Penthesilea understood as did everyone else, after she shared her own thoughts.
Scathach nodded in confirmation and then continued with her explanation.
"Going further than that however, We know this Satan already deduced husband's ability to read people. As such, when Grayfia-san here made the second offer, already knowing how much extra work it would take from their side, not only would husband feel no displeasure, he might even develop a good impression."
Everyone in the room gained a new degree of admiration for Sirzechs, even if the impression of him as good hearted and straightforward individual was slightly diminished. Still, most of them still didn't see what was the big deal and why Jun and his wives showed the reaction they did.
Seeing this, the voice of someone previously rose with chilling cold.
"If it was just this though, it would merely be a paltry trick unworthy of consideration."
