FATE of DxD

Can It Even be called War? VI

Unfortunately for the devils, Jack's was basically the only front where they could be considered to be putting up a good fight.

Asako was able to use stealth and misdirection to move around and complete her assignments with no meaningful resistance.

And as for Morgan Artoria and Jeanne . . . Their battle had started shortly after Jack's but . . . There was just no way they would be remotely close to the losing hand there.

In an instant, while conveniently leaving the Great King Faction out to dry, Ajuka used his Kankara Formula to emulate Falbium's Absolute Defense and create a barrier around the other members of his faction.

It wasn't as good as the original and it took all of his concentration and effort so Ajuka was effectively locked into position when he used, hence he almost never did but this time, defense, a truly powerful one, was all he wanted and so, he went directly for it.

Sirzechs flew up at the same time, not defending or attacking while Grayfia unleashed a barrage of silver and dark blue demonic energy which had immense destructive power, honoring her nickname, the Silver Haired Queen of Annihilation.

Just like before, Jeanne stepped up front and easily blocked the attack just by pouring her magical energy into her flag, not even calling out its true name but that was the devils' aim in the first place.

They saw Morgan's party was more interested in keeping them in place than actually destroying them so while Ajuka focused on defense, Grayfia would attack, keeping them busy since they would probably just defend and not seriously counter attack. Meanwhile Sirzechs would get ready to fight the real battle.

Sirzechs could not fight at full power in his current location, he had no control over his Power of Destruction when he used his full strength so there was always massive collateral damage.

His intention was simple, charging up his Ruin the Extinct, his most power and precise attack without using his true power and form in the Human Shaped Aura of Destruction and rain down attacks from above to hopefully make Morgan take her focus from the barrier trapping them and onto him so that the others might escape.

With his wife having bought enough time, reddish black spheres started cascading down with immense power, such that even Jeanne could no longer afford to hold back her defense.

"Luminosite Eternelle!" She shouted as her flag shone with holy and divine might.

This surprised the devils with those not at the Satan level even feeling suppressed by the mere activation of the noble phantasm.

The power of destruction rained down ferociously but it seemed to harmlessly vanish as soon as in clashed with the barrier, not even producing any sort of intense clash. Jeanne had developed her power in such a way in order to avoid causing collateral damage through the deflection of attacks.

Some of the girls criticized this as fully tanking and cancelling an attack took far more power and was more energy intensive.

Jeanne had sacrificed her ability to deflect attacks normally in order to strengthen her new ability to cancel them so she was always going to have to face the full brunt of any attack she chose to guard.

For the matter at hand though, she seemed more than capable of taking it, that also meant the plan to draw Morgan's attention into the battle had failed but they had pretty much locked the trio inside a defensive bubble so many though this was their chance to escape.

Morgan's bounded field prevented teleportation and messaging but it did not stop one from physically leaving so trying to run while she was trapped in a defensive bubble seemed like a good idea.

The members of the Great King Faction certainly thought so. Lord Bael who had lost his father's guidance due to the barrier, while feeling intensely humiliated, also realized he was outmatched and made a break for it with the rest of his faction.

The question was . . . Were Morgan and Artoria as trapped as they seemed?

Jeanne was dug in to defend but could the other two really do nothing?

From behind Jeanne's protection Morgan used her Infinity Mirror to fold space in such a way that no matter in which direction one travelled, they would inevitably end back exactly in their original positions. At the same time, Artoria pulled out a familiar looking marble and gave her sister a nod.

Acknowledging it, the Fairy Queen used her transference magecraft to move the King of Knights to a position right above Sirzechs.

As soon as she appeared there, before Sirzechs even had time to react, Artoria activated the marble in her hand. It was an enhanced version of the item Jun had given to Penthesilea so she could fight Achilles in a one on one.

Now, an improved version had made an appearance, dragging Artoria and Sirzechs to large private battlefield of their own.

With the crimson haired Satan's onslaught halted, Jeanne lowered her defenses and a silent faceoff began once more but other than the saint and the Fairy Queen, all of them looked considerably grimmer.

The Great King Faction had realized they were trapped by a barrier they could barely understand while their actions let the New Satan Faction understand that as well.

Adding that to the sudden disappearance of their most powerful combatant along with one of the enemies, the situation did not look good at all.

Still . . . Not all hope was lost if one looked at the situation carefully and that was why Grayfia and Ajuka were still relatively composed.
