Chapter 521: Golden Shovel
Back at home, Han Qiwu carried two large bags of things upstairs. Along the way, the neighborhood aunties all praised him for being such a filial son, making Han Qiwu feel a bit embarrassed. He quickly explained that these were gifts from his girlfriend.
The reactions from the aunties varied. Some thought to themselves, "Oh no, now my daughter won't have a chance." Others were even more envious, thinking, "Not only is Xiao Han filial, but his girlfriend is also so thoughtful. I should go home and give my bratty son a scolding—he only knows how to play video games!"
At the door, Mrs. Han, who had already heard the commotion, opened it up with a big smile. Seeing the two large bags of goodies, she beamed, "Xiao Tang is such a good girl, bringing so many things! Oh my, why didn't you bring her over? Your father cooked a whole table of food!"
"She was feeling shy—don't rush things." Han Qiwu walked inside and laughed. Then he took out items from the two large bags and said, "Dad, here's a back massager for you. Mom, these are some cosmetics for you."
"Wow, even something for me! Han Qiwu, you've got to properly thank her for me. I've been with your mom so many years, and not once did she think to buy me a back massager." Mr. Han emerged from the kitchen, delighted, and happily took the gift.
Mrs. Han, now examining her cosmetics, completely ignored her husband. She walked giddily to her room to try them out, grinning from ear to ear. She couldn't be more thrilled. She thought to herself that she and her husband should tidy up the house properly so they wouldn't hold their son back.
After putting everything away, Mr. Han brought out a pot of stewed ribs from the stove, and the family sat down for a warm and cheerful dinner.
After eating and drinking to their hearts' content, Han Qiwu took a short break before preparing to leave. It hadn't rained today, and he still needed to water the crops back home.
Hearing that her son was leaving, Mrs. Han dragged out a blue-and-white woven bag from the kitchen and handed it to him. "Eat freely, and if you finish everything, just call. I'll have your dad send more over."
"What's in here, Mom? Did you stuff an entire pig in this bag?" Han Qiwu squatted down immediately to check.
Unzipping the bag, he found it was packed with braised pork belly, beef, beef tripe, fresh ribs, and a variety of fruits. On the side, there was even a whole carton of milk.
Looking into Mrs. Han's eager eyes, Han Qiwu silently carried the blue-and-white woven bag on his back, hailed a cab at the gate, and left. Thankfully, his recent physical strength had improved significantly; otherwise, this heavy load of maternal love would've been impossible to bear.
After taking a cab for the base fare, he located a quiet alley, placed the woven bag into his storage compartment, and tore open a Teleportation Scroll.
With a flash of light, he was home.
The difference in the air hit him immediately. He realized his home's little courtyard had absurdly fresh air. He had already felt it when wandering around downtown earlier—the city center's air quality was terrible.
Home is still the best.
Noticing his sudden arrival, Little Electric flapped its wings joyfully and swooped down from the tree, flying straight into Han Qiwu's arms.
"Missed me, huh?" Han Qiwu said with a pleased smile, spreading his arms to hug his long-absent companion.
He hadn't expected Little Electric to have such strong feelings for him—it insisted on a hug!
*Whoosh!*
Just as Little Electric approached Han Qiwu, it gracefully curved in mid-air and tossed the tablet it was holding with its claws straight into his hands.
Han Qiwu: "..."
So much for being touched!
Turns out, the dumb bird just wanted me to charge the tablet since it's out of power??
I should really ask Grandpa Shennong tomorrow how to roast a bird.
Feeling the shift in Han Qiwu's mood, Little Electric's survival instincts kicked in immediately. It flapped its wings and perched on his shoulder, nuzzling against him for affection.
"Shoo." Han Qiwu bent down and picked up Little Lai, who had been bouncing around his legs. He lazily gave it some pats.
Chubby and cuddly—it's the best.
After setting down Little Lai, Han Qiwu took out the woven bag and methodically organized its contents into the fridge, stuffing it to the brim in no time.
Afterward, he grabbed his watering can and began to water the crops. Possibly because of yesterday's light rain, a few plants without sprinklers had noticeably dry leaves.
"Looks like I'll need to install more sprinklers again. When will I learn to make more advanced sprinklers? The current ones are really inefficient."
After watering the plants, Han Qiwu was about to take a break when he suddenly heard some rattling from the storage chest.
He quickly walked over to check and opened the chest. Inside, he noticed the [Stone That May Crack Someday] he had obtained on the 90th level of the mine was glowing.
"It's about to crack?" Han Qiwu hurriedly took the stone out of the chest and placed it on the ground.
The stone rattled violently for over ten minutes, making Han Qiwu almost want to help it along by giving it a few smacks.
*Click, click.*
Suddenly, the stone stopped moving and split cleanly in half, releasing a burst of golden light.
A few seconds later, the golden light faded, and in its place appeared a tiny golden shovel, no more than fifteen centimeters long, in Han Qiwu's line of sight.
"Is this it??"
Han Qiwu walked over, picked up the small golden shovel, and examined its length. It was so short it wouldn't even be useful for digging soil.
Why would something like this appear in the mines?
No way it's meant for combat, right?
After a few more seconds, the golden glow on the shovel receded, and its attributes appeared simultaneously.
[Golden Shovel]
[Function: Move items]
[Usage: The Golden Shovel can completely relocate any item within the farm to a new position. Additional fees apply for moving buildings.]
[Note: Efficient space management leads to greater productivity.]
Han Qiwu was surprised. So this golden shovel was for moving items? Turns out, it's a magical tool.
Let's give it a try.
He walked to a radish seedling holding the golden shovel, inserted it into the ground where the seedling was planted, and gently lifted it.
*Ding!*
Accompanied by a sound effect, the radish seedling instantly left the soil and hovered beneath the golden shovel.
He placed the golden shovel onto a nearby patch of soil, and the radish seedling obediently dropped into place, looking identical to how it was before the move.
"This is pretty interesting. Once I upgrade to better sprinklers, I can reorganize the entire layout more efficiently." Han Qiwu nodded in satisfaction and put the golden shovel away.
After finishing work in the fields, he entered the animal buildings to collect eggs, feathers, duck eggs, milk, and other animal products.
When he arrived at Jilei Mountain, he noticed the Thunder Flower Bull was thriving. Its body had grown noticeably larger in just two or three days.
The calves raised at his own farm really were superior.
Since the cooldown time was up, he led the Kui Niu out, thought for a moment, and brought out the Red Bull as well, both of them headed straight for the breeding room.
After shutting the door, Han Qiwu clapped his hands with satisfaction. "This time, let's name the calf Niu Honglei. Hopefully, its eyes will be nice and big."
