Chapter 487: The 5-Star Rated Scroll
After grabbing the sunglasses, the rain in the sky lessened slightly. Han Qiwu simply removed his bamboo hat, slung it over his back, and strolled leisurely toward the library.
Upon reaching the library entrance, Han Qiwu was surprised to find it closed today.
[Zack is not home. If returning books, you may place them at the designated window.]
Following the instructions, Han Qiwu placed the book at the nearby window.
"Strange, on such a rainy day, where has he gone?"
After putting down the book, Han Qiwu glanced around to ensure no one was nearby, eagerly rubbed his hands together, and pulled out the [Teleportation Scroll: Home] that he had just crafted earlier today. Taking a deep breath, he tore it open forcefully.
"Swish."
In the instant the teleportation scroll was torn open, a flash of white light blinded Han Qiwu.
When his sight returned, he was already standing at his doorstep.
"Such an amazing experience! I thought it'd be like those novels I read before, where you feel dizzy, nauseous, and end up crawling on all fours, vomiting everywhere." Han Qiwu looked down at the components on his body.
Everything's in place, not a single piece missing or extra.
Perfect score for the experience!
If only he had enough hardwood at home, he'd happily craft eight or ten of these teleportation scrolls for frequent use.
Picking up his hoe and grabbing some seeds, Han Qiwu did a quick plan and began diligently sowing the fields.
Since he had plenty of time today, Han Qiwu refrained from using the charging feature on his Ancient Bronze Hoe. Steadily, he tilled one plot after another. Although slower, the chance of triggering the Ancient Bronze Hoe's special effects was much higher.
Before long, he had collected over ten ancient items, such as [Ancient Bowl], [Odd Beast Fang], and [Broken Wine Bottle].
"Looks like I'll have to upgrade the hoe in a couple of days too. Who knows, maybe it'll dig up Peking Man or some cave dwellers next time," he joked.
Once the plowing was done, Han Qiwu took out his Lucky Charm Bracelet and spun it lightly.
Time to score some free seeds again.
Picking up a wild oat seed, Han Qiwu placed it carefully on the tilled plot of land.
[Random Doubling Triggered]
One seed turned into two!
A free gain of 150 gold.
Keep going!
"Swish swish swish."
While sowing, Han Qiwu deliberately used cheaper cabbage seeds as a buffer to increase the odds of the random doubling trigger applying to pricier seeds.
As he sowed away, Han Qiwu suddenly realized the rain appeared to be diminishing, with the thunder and lightning vanishing altogether.
"No, don't stop the rain yet! Let me finish sowing first."
Realizing he couldn't benefit from the rainwater anymore, Han Qiwu sped up his sowing process, quickly planting all the remaining seeds before the rain ended.
After completing his planting, Han Qiwu straightened his tired back. He looked up to see a rainbow arching over his farmland.
Beautiful.
After appreciating the rainbow, Han Qiwu dutifully began exercising.
At least an hour of training to bypass this stroke of bad luck.
An hour later, the sun rose higher, and the temperature of the earth gradually warmed up.
Han Qiwu wiped away his sweat, scooped up Xiao Lai, and used a branch to grab Little Electric lying by the riverbank.
"Let's go, time to get to work."
Before heading out, Han Qiwu specifically chopped a few thin wooden planks with his axe.
He had sunglasses himself, but Little Electric and Xiao Lai didn't, so they couldn't block the golden glow.
When encountering the Golden Light Butterfly later, he'd shield the duo with the wooden planks.
Mounting his pony, Han Qiwu shook the reins, heading straight to Mist Forest.
Upon reaching Mist Forest, Han Qiwu surveyed the surrounding fog. No issues here.
Let's go.
Entering Mist Forest, one man and two pets followed the cobblestone pathway until they neared the Golden Light Butterfly's location. Then they left the path and plunged into the dense mist.
"Little Electric, clear the surrounding visibility first." Han Qiwu tossed a few unused Golden Light Worms from last time.
"Chirp chirp."
Little Electric dutifully carried out the order.
A moment later, the surrounding fog began dissipating. Han Qiwu looked around the scenery, sensing something unusual.
"Something's off. Last time I came here, wasn't this area mostly regular-sized trees?"
He distinctly remembered several patches of small forests nearby with normal tree heights, not towering giants like now.
It seemed that changes had occurred not only in the Golden Light Worms but also in the surrounding trees.
Of course, as far as he could tell, these changes were all favorable.
Time to chop.
The more large trees there were, the more hardwood he could collect!
"Little Electric, Xiao Lai, if you detect any unusual light, run straight to me without looking back, and remember to clear the visibility along the way."
After giving instructions, Han Qiwu swung his Crescent Moon Iron Axe and began chopping down large trees.
[Hardwood] ×2
Seeing the number, he couldn't help reminiscing about days ideal for logging.
"If only I could choose tomorrow's fortune calendar," he joked.
Logging time flew by. Before long, Han Qiwu had collected [Hardwood] ×156, [Timber] ×48, and [Mist Fruit] ×7.
Seeing the Mist Fruits reminded Han Qiwu that while Little Electric had eaten Mist Fruit, it hadn't yet tasted Mist Grand Fruits.
Judging by the little guy's behavior, it had likely forgotten about them, too.
He'd save them as a reward for good behavior later.
Noticing all the trees within visible range were chopped down, Han Qiwu now prepared to enter the Golden Light Worm zone.
Sunglasses on, and no love lost!
However, after donning the sunglasses, Han Qiwu discovered a significant problem.
He couldn't see the path.
The mist here was already thick to begin with, further exacerbated after today's rain. With the sunglasses on, visibility dropped to twilight-like levels.
Thankfully, he had torches in his inventory.
After lighting a torch, his vision brightened once more.
Little Electric looked around puzzled. "Isn't it already quite bright here?"
"Why does my master still need to light a torch?"
As Little Electric pondered the question, the Golden Light Worm zone ahead suddenly lit up with bursts of dazzling golden light.
They had arrived.
And came swaying along on their silk threads.
"Swish swish swish."
First, Han Qiwu instructed the Poison Liquid Radio to hide behind the wooden planks. Then, he turned and lobbed a bomb snowball into the swarm.
"Boom."
The explosion-packed snowball was quite effective against these level-40 worms. A few blasts knocked them to the ground, and those less fortunate were stunned outright, lying on scattered patches of snow.
In this weather, falling into the snow meant one thing—getting frozen solid.
Seeing the Poison Liquid Radio safely tucked away, Han Qiwu grabbed his icicle blade and leaped forward to slash through the swarm.
Exhilarating!
Wearing sunglasses truly made a difference.
Without the blinding golden light, these tiny critters were hardly a threat.
Of course, amidst the thrill, Han Qiwu didn't forget that these Golden Light Worms had parents too!
"Swish swish swish."
After collecting over ten Golden Light Worms, a bright light, even slightly dazzling behind sunglasses, swiftly approached.
The Golden Light Butterfly had arrived.
"Good timing!" Han Qiwu drew his Frost Sling, loaded a porcupine quill, and shot it.
The Golden Light Butterfly had no idea what had happened.
"What's going on?
"This person… isn't afraid of me?"
"And he's aiming?"
"If you can hit me, it's my loss!"
"Whoosh."
The porcupine quill pierced directly into the Golden Light Butterfly's chest.
It lost.
