Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Chuiying Town Evening Party
Rhett closed his eyes and took a deep breath, reminding himself, "This is just a simulation."
One failure wouldn't make him give up. There had to be other ways in the world to grant ordinary people the ability to cultivate, even if it was difficult.
He already had the bloodline potion, and he believed that what he needed was a method that allowed for a gentler absorption process.
If he could solve this problem, perhaps Thales could successfully become a magician.
With the simulator at his disposal, he didn't have to worry about the cost of trial and error!
To avoid causing any alarm, Rhett locked Thales' room and then returned to his own. He retrieved the two bottles of Moonlight Potion from their hidden compartment.
Since he was already in the simulation, he wasn't going to waste the opportunity.
He opened the first bottle and swallowed its contents. The potent energy surged through his body, following specific pathways to his mind.
The Moonlight Potion contained complex elements, and its energy wasn't something that could be fully utilized just by drinking it.
Rhett needed to meditate. He sat on his bed, closed his eyes, and began practicing the Furnace Meditation technique. By now, he had thoroughly mastered this technique, so it was easy for him to enter a meditative state.
As if streams flowed into a river, the energy from the potion rapidly fused into his mind, and Rhett could feel a burst of growth in his mental power!
An hour later, the effects of the first Moonlight Potion dissipated.
Rhett didn't immediately consume the second bottle. He took a moment to reflect and noticed that, aside from the increase in mental power, there wasn't much else.
When he finally drank the second bottle, he felt a faint sense of resistance in his body during the refining process. The increase in his mental power was slightly reduced compared to the first time.
Still, Rhett quickly noticed this subtle change.
Resistance to potions was a common issue, especially with potions that enhanced one's strength. Rhett was well aware of this.
"However, given the Moonlight Potion's exceptional effects, it would take more than a hundred bottles before there was any significant reduction. By then, the benefits to my strength would be enormous," Rhett thought to himself.
He had been stuck at the mid-stage for a long time, but now, after refining the second Moonlight Potion, Rhett felt he was just one step away from reaching the late-stage of the second-tier magician level.
With regular meditation, it wouldn't take him more than a few days to achieve that breakthrough.
But the day wasn't over yet, and Rhett didn't want to waste any simulation opportunities, especially after switching to the Furnace Meditation technique, which made his meditation time even more valuable.
So he closed his eyes and returned to his meditation.
After a full day had passed, a new prompt appeared before him.
[Do you wish to simulate the second day? This will consume 1 Fate Value.]
Seeing this, Rhett decisively chose no.
He immediately returned to reality, finding himself once again standing in the snowy ground behind Deep Rock Fortress. The cold wind reminded him that he was back.
[Real Simulation has ended. Please select one attribute to retain.]
[1. Physique]
[2. Fighting Spirit]
[3. Mental Power]
"Choose Mental Power!" Rhett didn't hesitate.
A surge of mental power flooded his mind, but the sensation only lasted a moment. Rhett felt a warm change in his mind, and his mental power had clearly improved.
Now only a step away from becoming a late-stage second-tier magician, Rhett briefly considered simulating again to achieve the breakthrough.
But he quickly dismissed the idea.
Gaining Fate Points wasn't easy, and he couldn't afford to use them carelessly at the moment.
As long as no urgent situations arose, he would continue to focus on steady development.
Rhett began to plan in his mind. If he had hundreds or even thousands of Fate Points, he wouldn't mind indulging a bit. But glancing at his current total, he saw that he only had "63" remaining.
Unless he had a critical new idea or plan to test, he would reserve his remaining Fate Points for emergencies.
Returning to the castle, Rhett entered to find Sveta just coming in from outside, his clothes dotted with melting snowflakes. Upon seeing the lord, Sveta immediately stepped forward to greet him.
"Master, I've informed Kudin, and I watched them head to the pasture with tools and materials. They've started work, and I'll check on their progress again this evening."
Rhett nodded, speaking softly, "Good. This matter is important, and I'm glad it's in your hands."
"Thank you for your trust, Master," Sveta replied.
With a rough idea of the events to come, Rhett spent most of his time on meditation and training.
A few days later, he successfully broke through to the late stage of the second-tier magician level.
As winter advanced, time quickly passed, and soon it was December 7th.
The sun had set, and night had fallen.
Chuiying Town was alight with lanterns.
In the central square, about a hundred townspeople gathered with cups of hot tea and roasted meat, cheering and celebrating their lord.
The townsfolk had heard of Rhett Green becoming the lord of Chuiying Town over a decade ago, but they had never seen him.
During that time, Rhett's son had managed the territory.
Riley, who had taken on the role of steward, had the ability to manage the territory but had chosen a low-profile approach in his father's absence, focusing on steady development.
Since Rhett's return, however, his severe injuries had kept him from making public appearances.
But after recovering, Rhett began to reassert his presence in the territory, officially announcing his return.
Over the past month, the people of Chuiying Town had finally gotten to meet and interact with their powerful lord.
First, he gave an inspiring speech about strengthening the territory and improving everyone's lives.
Then, he personally led a winter hunting expedition, efficiently gathering thousands of pounds of wild meat, which he distributed to the townspeople as rewards.
This gesture had the townsfolk cheering in celebration.
Tonight's party was the third part of his strategy: hosting a communal event to boost morale and solidarity.
At the start of the event, as the lord, Rhett had even organized a money giveaway.
He handed out 500 copper coins—a single gold coin was equivalent to ten silver coins or a hundred copper coins. The differences in size between the coins ensured a consistent exchange rate.
For the people of Chuiying Town, this was a substantial fortune.
After this series of actions, not only did the townsfolk become familiar with their true lord, but they also grew to genuinely respect and appreciate him.
The central square buzzed with joy as the townsfolk celebrated, fully immersed in the festivities.
Bonfires blazed in some areas, roasting meat and ribs while the townsfolk sang and chatted around them.
Kudin, surrounded by a group of people, proudly displayed his woodcraft—a toy snake, a carved figurine, and other lifelike creations.
"Haha, everyone, take a look, but I'm not selling these, so be careful not to break them," Kudin said, stroking his beard with a satisfied smile as he basked in the admiration of the crowd.
Smack!
Kudin's shoulder was suddenly slapped hard—Tucker hadn't controlled his strength. Seeing who it was, Kudin's expression changed, and he forced a smile. "Master Tucker, are you interested in my little creations?"
Tucker, shaking his large head, curiously replied, "I never knew you made these little things before. They seem pretty well-made."
