Chapter 20: Chapter Twenty : Facing the Goblin King
Terry was sitting in the dimly lit room he had come to know as his personal space. The silence was comforting, a brief reprieve from the noise of training and preparations for the upcoming war. Just as he began to close his eyes to rest, the familiar, emotionless voice of his system echoed in his mind.

Terry's eyes shot open. The Goblin King? The Wasteland? His system wasn't making idle requests—this was a serious challenge.
---
Terry prepared for the task quietly, not wanting to alarm anyone. He was cautious after his battle with the Clover Tuch; Curl and Soden had been suspicious of his secretive actions before. This time, he would go alone.
He left the manor under the cover of darkness, heading toward the ominous expanse of the Wasteland. The barren terrain stretched endlessly, the air thick with an unnatural heat. The Wasteland was infamous—a desolate land riddled with creatures of malice and greed.
As Terry ventured deeper, the ground beneath his feet turned dry and cracked, and the skies above darkened, casting an eerie, red hue over the land. He could feel the weight of the place bearing down on him, a reminder of the countless battles and deaths that had taken place there.
---
Terry hadn't been walking long when the first goblin appeared. Small and wiry, with green, leathery skin and sharp, jagged teeth, it let out a guttural screech that echoed through the desolation.
Terry unsheathed his blade, his muscles tense. He didn't have time to think as three more goblins emerged from the shadows, their crude weapons gleaming in the dim light.
The first goblin lunged at him, its movements erratic but fast. Terry sidestepped and brought his sword down in a clean arc, severing the creature's head.
"Not bad," he muttered, barely catching his breath before the other three charged.
The fight was brutal but quick. Terry moved with precision, his blade cutting through the goblins as if they were nothing more than shadows. His training and heightened stats made him a force to be reckoned with, but he knew these were just the foot soldiers.
But he was far from done. An army of goblins emerged from the darkness. Terry sighed in regret as he saw the army. He stood with determination as they began to circle him .
Quickly, he summoned his flames and blended it with his Earthen ability to create earthen wall to shield hims4lf while he stopped out of no where to strike vehemently at the goblins .
He then decided to take them down in a single blast for if he desipated much of his energy here then he will have no strength to face the Goblin King.
With all his might he created a large quantum of flaming energy, exploding the landscape before him as the surrounding goblins burnt to significant ashes.
" I will have to pay for that strength. That went greater than I expected. " he said as he left the remains and journeyed further into the land . His system directed him in his mind, where the Goblin King stayed.
After hours of trudging through the Wasteland and dispatching smaller goblin groups, Terry finally arrived at the entrance to the Goblin King's lair. The cave mouth loomed before him, jagged and dark, like the maw of a beast waiting to devour him.
As he stepped inside, the temperature dropped. The walls of the cave were lined with crude carvings and glowing, moss-like fungi that cast an eerie green light. The deeper he went, the louder the sounds of grunting and snarling became.
Finally, he entered a massive chamber. At the center of the room sat the Goblin King—a towering creature, easily twice the size of any goblin Terry had faced before. Its muscular frame was adorned with crude armor, and in its hands, it wielded a massive, spiked club.
The Goblin King roared, the sound reverberating through the chamber and shaking the very ground.
"You dare challenge me, human?" it growled in a deep, guttural voice.
Terry tightened his grip on his sword. "Really so goblins speak ? But anyway I don't have a choice." Terry said and gripped his sword tighter.
" Fool , you will be sent to your master dead and your funeral will be a mess because your corpse will be nothing but lose carcass and bones. " the Goblin King said with magnified anger .
" Really, I do not think so." Terry said and dived towards the Goblin King.
The Goblin King charged at Terry with surprising speed for its size. The spiked club came down with a force that cracked the ground where Terry had stood moments before.
Terry dodged to the side, slashing at the Goblin King's exposed leg. The blade cut deep, but the creature barely flinched. It swung its club horizontally, forcing Terry to dive to the ground to avoid being struck.
The battle was relentless. Terry's agility and speed were his greatest assets, but the Goblin King's strength and endurance seemed endless. Every time Terry landed a blow, the creature retaliated with a force that threatened to crush him.
At one point, the Goblin King managed to graze Terry with its club, sending him sprawling across the chamber. Pain shot through his ribs, but he forced himself to stand.
"I've faced worse than you," he muttered, wiping blood from his mouth.
The Goblin King laughed, a deep, mocking sound. "You will die here, human."
---
As the fight dragged on, Terry began to notice a pattern in the Goblin King's movements. It was strong, yes, but it relied on brute force and predictable swings.
Timing his movements carefully, Terry baited the creature into a heavy downward strike. At the last second, he rolled forward, avoiding the blow and positioning himself behind the Goblin King.
With all his strength, Terry drove his sword into the creature's back. The Goblin King let out a deafening roar, thrashing wildly as it tried to dislodge the blade.
Terry held on, using his momentum to climb onto the creature's back. He pulled his sword free and drove it into the Goblin King's neck, severing its spine.
The creature let out one final roar before collapsing to the ground, its massive body shaking the chamber as it fell.
---
Terry stood over the Goblin King's corpse, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. His body ached, his injuries from the fight with the Clover Tuch still fresh, but he had done it.

**Task Complete: Defeat the Goblin King.**
***Rewards: 50,000 experience points, rare artifact 'Goblin King's Ring,' ***
Terry felt a surge of energy as his Slave System leveled up to 18, and his Elf Lord System progressed to level 3. The Goblin King's Ring appeared in his inventory, glowing with a faint green light.
He examined the ring. It radiated power, enhancing strength and endurance when worn. Sliding it onto his finger, he felt a slight rush of energy.
---
Terry left the Goblin King's lair, his steps heavy but determined. The Wasteland felt quieter now, the air less oppressive.
When he returned to the manor, he found Curl waiting for him.
"You've been gone a while," she said, her arms crossed.
"Had to clear my head," Terry replied, brushing past her.
Curl narrowed her eyes but didn't press further.
In his room, Terry sat down and allowed himself a moment of rest. The Goblin King was defeated, but the war with the vampires still loomed. For now, though, he allowed himself to feel a small sense of accomplishment.
He was growing stronger, and soon, he would be ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
