Chapter 3: Ch 50-60

Chapter 50

The disciples watching the projection outside were absolutely furious after witnessing the scene and hearing Ye Longyuan's words.

"Isn't the Ancestor's Ceremony supposed to be about fair duels? What's the point of ganging up on one person? And you still want to 'perform' in front of the Patriarch?"

"This isn't a display of skill—it's bullying! The Patriarch won't reward something like this!"

"If you can't win without relying on artifacts, why don't you crawl into a turtle shell and hide there?"

"Seriously, can't handle a fight? Then why bother showing up? Stay home and take a nap instead."

"You said Han Feng wasn't man enough to fight you one-on-one earlier. Well, now he's here. Are you going to duel him or not?"

"If Ye Longyuan really beat Han Feng in a fair fight, maybe Senior Sister Jiang would actually look at him differently. But no, he doesn't even dare to try."

"What a coward. When he thought Han Feng was weak, he wanted to bully him. Now that Han Feng's strong, he calls for backup. If you're not good enough, train harder. If you can't handle losing, don't play the game!"

"The Ye family only knows how to use underhanded tactics—assassinations, gang fights, sneak attacks. They're shameless!"

"This is supposed to be one of our sect's 'genius disciples'? A Heavenly Spirit Root owner? What an embarrassment. I'm ashamed to even be in the same sect as him!"

"I'm done with Ye Longyuan. From now on, I don't know him. We're not even acquaintances anymore."

"Ye Longyuan! Shameless!"

One disciple shouted it first, and soon the entire crowd joined in.

"Ye Longyuan! Shameless!"

"Ye Longyuan! Shameless!"

In no time, the chant echoed through the skies, loud and clear.

There were two reasons for this overwhelming outrage. First, Ye Longyuan's repeated shameless and despicable behavior had enraged everyone. Second, the chant was catchy, easy to say, and incredibly satisfying to yell with full force.

In the air above, the Sect Leader rubbed his temples, thoroughly exasperated by the scene.

He had been Sect Leader for over a hundred years and had presided over more than a hundred Ancestor's Ceremonies. There had been plenty of chanting before, but it was always cheering for the disciples' brilliant performances.

Never before had there been a ceremony like this, where one person—or an entire family—became the target of mass condemnation from tens of thousands of voices.

This had never happened before.

"Silence! Silence now! If you don't stop disrupting the ceremony, I'll… I'll shut down the projection and not let any of you watch anymore!"

Even the Sect Leader, facing such an impassioned crowd, dared not issue harsher threats. The law couldn't punish everyone, and it was impossible to go against the collective will of so many.

While the disciples outside cursed Ye Longyuan, inside the secret realm, Han Feng was fighting a bitter battle.

The dozen or so Ye family disciples besieged him, and Ye Longyuan would occasionally attack him from a distance, exploiting gaps in Han Feng's defense. Before long, Han Feng's body was riddled with injuries.

Clenching his teeth, Han Feng suppressed his anger, realizing that unless he dealt with these pests first, he wouldn't have a chance to confront Ye Longyuan directly.

Spotting the closest Ye family disciple, Han Feng charged forward. Grabbing the disciple by the collar with his left hand, he drove his sword through the disciple's dantian with his right.

Lifting the disciple into the air with his sword, Han Feng roared, "My fight is with Ye Longyuan! Whoever steps forward, I swear I'll cripple their cultivation and leave them as a waste for the rest of their life!

I'll take you all down with me if I have to! Let's see who's more ruthless!"

The Ye family disciples froze, their faces paling. They hesitated, their fear growing.

It was true that together, they could probably defeat Han Feng. But he was clearly unhinged, striking without hesitation and aiming directly to cripple his opponents. Whoever went first would undoubtedly be the first to lose their cultivation—a fate far worse than death.

At that moment, one of the Ye family disciples stepped forward and said, "Han Feng, give us the person you're holding, and we'll back off. We won't interfere with your fight against Ye Longyuan. He's still savable right now. But if you cripple him, you'll force us to fight you to the death. And if that happens, there's no way you'll get your revenge on Ye Longyuan."

"Shut up, Ye Wen! What nonsense are you spouting?!" Ye Longyuan shouted angrily, his face contorting.

"Shut your mouth, you bastard! Haven't you caused enough harm to the Ye family already?" Ye Wen shot back before turning to Han Feng. "Han Feng, hand him over to me."

Han Feng hesitated momentarily but eventually withdrew his sword and threw the injured Ye family disciple toward Ye Wen.

Ye Wen caught the disciple and, without missing a beat, tossed him backward. "Exit now!"

Then, in a flash, Ye Wen lunged at Han Feng, his sword aiming directly for Han Feng's dantian.

Caught off guard, Han Feng's eyes widened in shock. No matter how fast he was, the sword was already upon him. Dodging entirely was impossible.

He twisted his body as much as he could, narrowly avoiding a direct hit to his dantian. Instead, the sword pierced through the side of his abdomen, just grazing his dantian.

The searing pain of the wound forced a grunt out of Han Feng.

Ye Longyuan's eyes lit up with excitement. "Good job, Ye Wen! Everyone, attack! Let's finish him off!"

With that command, Ye Longyuan and the surrounding Ye family disciples charged at Han Feng together.

Outside, the disciples watching the projection had been holding their breath, captivated by the fight.

When they saw Han Feng agree to exchange the injured disciple for a promise that the Ye family wouldn't interfere, they didn't criticize him. It was the smartest choice. Han Feng's goal was to settle the score with Ye Longyuan one-on-one, but the interference from the other disciples was making that impossible, increasing the risk of him losing.

Most thought the deal might proceed smoothly. But when Ye Wen betrayed Han Feng and launched a sneak attack, the crowd's fury reignited.

"That bastard Ye Wen! Using deception to sneak attack Han Feng!"

"What a despicable, shameless scoundrel!"

"So many against one, and they still resort to lies and ambushes? Is the entire Ye family full of these kinds of bastards?"

"I was right all along! The Ye family is nothing but a den of snakes and rats! Not a single one of them is innocent!"

"What kind of vile, shameless family is this? Is deceitfulness in their blood?"

"They're all the same! You can't trust a single one of them. If you ever have to work with someone from the Ye family, be prepared to get stabbed in the back!"

"Work with them? I'm cutting all ties with the Ye family! I won't even touch the pills they refine—I'm afraid they'll poison me!"

"An intra-sect duel where they outnumber their opponent and still rely on lies and sneak attacks? Why don't they just die already?!"

Seeing the crowd's growing outrage, the Sect Leader decided it was best to let them vent.

Let them do whatever they want.

The main issue is that the Ye family is truly disgraceful. In a single Ancestor's Ceremony, with one shameless act after another, they've dragged their entire family's reputation to rock bottom, turning themselves into street rats that everyone wants to beat.

Chapter 51

Jiang Surou's father, standing to the side, clenched his teeth in frustration.

"I never imagined that after working with the Ye family for so many years, they'd turn out to be such a den of snakes and rats.

Han Feng is doomed now. He's being swarmed. How is he supposed to hold his ground against so many people? He should just exit while he still can."

Jiang Huayang shook his head.

"Father, honestly, if your closest friend had been harmed by an enemy like that, would you be able to exit without avenging them first? Han Feng is consumed by rage right now. He won't back down. At least not until he's defeated Ye Longyuan."

"A good kid, no doubt. It kills me that we didn't realize his talent sooner. We couldn't provide him with resources or treasures to help him succeed.

Look at his opponent—protective artifacts, healing pills, attack treasures, and so many allies.

But what does Han Feng have? Nothing.

Even Surou doesn't have much on her, so how could he possibly have more? If he had those resources, he wouldn't have to face such an unfair battle."

Hearing his father's words, Jiang Huayang sighed as well.

"I blame myself. I knew for a while that he was extraordinarily gifted. But I didn't say anything."

"When we return, you can kneel in the ancestral hall for three days to atone."

"Me?!"

….

Han Feng was in severe pain, surrounded by more than a dozen swords aiming straight for him. Sword beams roared toward him from all sides.

Without hesitation, Han Feng pulled the sword out of his abdomen and retreated as quickly as possible. He dodged with all the speed he could muster, but the sword beams were faster, closing in on him.

Suddenly, the little fox leapt out from behind him, placing herself between Han Feng and the incoming attacks. The dozen sword beams struck her small body, and she let out a pained cry, spitting blood before being flung back into Han Feng's arms by the impact.

As he flew away to create some distance, Han Feng looked down at the injured little fox in his arms. Seeing her weak and bloodied state, his heart filled with pain.

"You silly little thing, you don't even have any cultivation! Why would you shield me like that? You could've died!" Han Feng's voice was a mix of anger and heartbreak.

The little fox, barely hanging on, looked up at Han Feng and spoke weakly.

"It's okay. You're my best friend. You're the only human I've ever met who didn't harbor any malice toward me. For you, I'm willing to take the hit.

Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. Just feed me fifty spirit stones when we get back, and I'll recover."

"You have my word. I'll give you all the spirit stones you want!" Han Feng said, full of remorse.

"Deal! Don't break your promise!" The little fox suddenly perked up, jumping onto Han Feng's shoulder as if nothing had happened.

Han Feng looked at her, stunned. She didn't seem injured at all.

What a little actress…

Outside the secret realm, the disciples watching the projection burst into laughter, their tension momentarily broken. They couldn't help but remark on how mischievous, clever, and outright adorable Han Feng's little fox was.

Standing on Han Feng's shoulder, the little fox quickly said, "Listen to me. You need to use your advantages. They outnumber you, so fighting them head-on is the dumbest thing you can do.

You're faster than anyone else, and no one can catch you. Their cultivation levels vary, so their speeds do too. All you need to do is create enough distance. Eventually, they'll spread out.

Ignore Ye Longyuan, the fastest one. Focus on isolating the stragglers. Take them down one by one. Once you've taken out a few, the rest will be too scared to keep chasing you."

"Not bad, little fox. You're smarter than you look."

Following her advice, Han Feng began leading the Ye family disciples in circles throughout the area.

Just as the little fox had predicted, the varying speeds of the disciples caused them to gradually spread out, with several falling far behind.

Ye Longyuan, still the closest, continued hurling insults at Han Feng, who ignored him entirely. Instead, Han Feng observed the battlefield carefully.

Suddenly, he accelerated sharply, targeting one of the more isolated disciples.

Han Feng's speed was terrifying. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of the disciple, who immediately shouted in alarm.

"Han Feng is here! Get over here and help me!"

But the disciple quickly realized two things.

First, the nearest allies were hundreds of meters away.

Second, he was only at the sixth layer of Qi Refining.

With the force of a thunderclap, Han Feng slammed into the disciple, sending him coughing up blood. He didn't let the disciple be flung away, though—he grabbed him.

Gripping the disciple by the neck with his left hand and his sword in the right, Han Feng stabbed the sword into the disciple's dantian and twisted it violently, shredding it.

Another one down.

The disciple, terrified, immediately shouted, "I EXIT!"

A teleportation array appeared in the sky, rushing down toward him.

Han Feng, not wanting to be taken along, released the disciple and quickly retreated.

The teleportation array whisked the disciple away. Outside, Ye family members rushed to catch him and begin treating his injuries.

Inside the secret realm, Han Feng scanned the battlefield. He saw the other disciples converging on his position, but he had a brief window before they arrived. Enough time to take down another.

He flew toward a disciple on the right. Both were flying toward each other, their speeds incredible. In a flash, they collided.

Han Feng grabbed the disciple and attempted to stab his dantian.

However, a glowing barrier appeared, blocking his sword.

"Didn't expect that, did you? I have a protective artifact!" The disciple sneered, raising his sword to strike Han Feng.

Han Feng's anger surged. He deflected the disciple's sword with a powerful swing, then struck him three times in quick succession, shattering the protective barrier. Not giving the disciple a chance to retrieve another artifact, Han Feng stabbed at his dantian again.

The disciple, panicked, shouted, "I EXIT!"

The teleportation array descended once more, but Han Feng was faster. His sword pierced the disciple's dantian, and before the array could take him away, Han Feng twisted the blade and injected a burst of spiritual energy, completely destroying the dantian.

The array whisked the disciple away amid his screams.

The remaining Ye family disciples were horrified. They had known Han Feng was ruthless, but they hadn't expected him to deal with them so brutally.

Han Feng turned to face them, a cold smile on his lips.

"Still chasing me? I've warned you before—if you don't want to end up as cripples, stay the hell away. But you ignored me, so don't blame me for being ruthless.

Keep chasing me, and I'll cripple every last one of you. Your lives as cultivators will be over!"

Chapter 52

After Han Feng finished speaking, he immediately turned and continued using his speed to kite his enemies.

Ye Longyuan was on the verge of losing his mind. He had come to the secret realm fully prepared for this.

He had already investigated thoroughly: the Jiang family had only about twenty people, and Han Feng had no one else to rely on besides them. Confident in his position, he assembled over twenty members of the Ye family. Being a large clan with countless branches and both legitimate and illegitimate descendants, they could easily find ten to twenty 18-year-olds each year to participate in the secret realm.

To ensure victory, Ye Longyuan even leveraged his family's connections. Those from his family who were elders all had disciples, so he called upon those eligible to enter the secret realm, amassing more than fifty people.

With this many people, beating the Jiang family seemed like a sure thing.

However, to his shock, he had been constantly losing people. The Ye family had already lost four disciples.

Among the fifty people he had gathered, not all were from the Ye family. The non-Ye family disciples were willing to fight for him but were not willing to risk their lives. After all, entering the secret realm and receiving the Patriarch's blessing was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Everyone wanted to preserve their chances—what if they were lucky enough to obtain something extraordinary? At the very least, they could hope for increased cultivation or improved aptitude.

These people weren't about to risk their lives fighting Han Feng, who was clearly a madman.

As a result, the casualties fell solely on the Ye family.

Ye Longyuan could already imagine the punishment he would face when he returned for causing so many Ye family members to lose their chance at the ceremony.

At the very least, his third uncle—Ye Longquan's father—would harbor an irreversible hatred for him.

If Ye Longyuan managed to defeat Han Feng and make him pay a heavy price—avenging his brothers—he might still have something to show when he returned. But if he lost to Han Feng, the punishment awaiting him would be unimaginable.

What Ye Longyuan didn't know was that outside the secret realm, public opinion had turned overwhelmingly against him. The Ye family had become the target of universal scorn, and the family elders were already discussing how to discipline him.

As for his father? Thanks to his "brilliant" eldest son's actions, his hopes of competing for the position of family head had been crushed entirely.

He really was a disaster for his family.

But just as Ye Longyuan was about to lead his men to continue pursuing Han Feng, one of the Ye family's core disciples spoke up.

"Ye Longyuan, we've helped you enough. The family has already suffered heavy losses. From now on, this is your problem to deal with. It's better if you handle this yourself.

After all, this is a matter between you and Han Feng. Let it be settled fairly."

With that, the disciple turned and flew away.

"Don't go! Come back!" Ye Longyuan shouted in panic, his voice tinged with desperation.

But when one person left, others soon followed. The remaining disciples began to disperse as well. Soon, only a single branch disciple remained. Grinning, he said to Ye Longyuan, "Brother Yuan, don't worry. I'll help you."

This disciple saw this as an opportunity to curry favor with Ye Longyuan. As a branch family member, his resources were far less abundant than those of someone like Ye Longyuan, a core family member. Aligning with Ye Longyuan could change his fortunes.

"Good brother! I don't even know your name, but from now on, you're like my own blood brother!" Ye Longyuan said, deeply moved.

The disciple nodded enthusiastically but then suddenly felt a sharp pain in his dantian. Looking down in disbelief, he saw the blade of a sword protruding from his abdomen. The blade twisted violently, reducing his dantian to a shattered mess.

Behind him, a ghostly voice rang out.

"You like playing hero, huh? You should be grateful that killing isn't allowed here."

Han Feng had already circled around and ambushed him from behind.

With a powerful flick of his sword, Han Feng sent the disciple crashing heavily to the ground.

"Ye Longyuan, your allies have abandoned you. Your brothers have been crippled. Now, it's your turn!" Han Feng said coldly, raising his sword and charging at Ye Longyuan.

Ye Longyuan's face turned grim. Without sparing a glance at the fallen "brother" behind him, he engaged Han Feng in combat.

The Ye family disciples who had left earlier witnessed this and silently congratulated themselves on their decision.

The core disciple who had led the retreat descended to where the other Ye family disciples and their allies were gathered. "Alright, everyone, stand down!" he commanded.

The disciples who had been attacking the Jiang family immediately stopped but did not disperse their encirclement.

He turned to Jiang Surou and said, "There's no need for our families to fight anymore. In the end, this is a personal grudge between Ye Longyuan and Han Feng. Let them settle it themselves—it has nothing to do with you.

If the Jiang family wishes to make their offerings or leave the secret realm, we won't stop you.

However, you're not allowed to help Han Feng.

Similarly, we won't assist Ye Longyuan.

But if you insist on continuing to fight, we won't hesitate to retaliate. Han Feng has crippled our family members, and if it comes to that, we'll do the same to yours.

You're outnumbered, and you're all injured. If you're smart, you'll stand down."

It was true. After the intense battle earlier, the Jiang family was at a disadvantage. Every one of them was injured, and continuing the fight would only lead to more losses.

Moreover, the stakes of this battle had escalated. What had started as a fight to seize Spirit Crystals had now turned into a struggle where cultivations and futures were being destroyed.

Previously, battles ended with someone being defeated and robbed of their Spirit Crystals. No one had to fear losing their cultivation. But now, dantians were being shattered, and the path to immortality was being severed.

If the Jiang and Ye families continued down this path, it would result in a blood feud that might never be resolved.

Both sides understood the cost of such a conflict.

By now, stopping the fight was the best outcome.

Jiang Surou thought for a moment and then instructed her people, "Take turns making your offerings while the rest stand guard. Once you're done, don't leave—stay and continue to keep watch!"

She didn't trust the Ye family and feared they would launch a sneak attack.

"Understood!" the Jiang family disciples responded immediately.

However, Jiang Surou was still worried about Han Feng. He was currently fighting Ye Longyuan, who had plenty of pills and protective artifacts, while Han Feng had nothing.

If the fight continued, Han Feng would be at a severe disadvantage.

After some thought, Jiang Surou turned to the Ye family's core disciple and said, "Do you dare to make a bet with me?"

"What kind of bet?"

"I'll fight you. If I win, I'll help Han Feng. If you win, you're free to help Ye Longyuan. What do you say?"

Hearing this, the Ye family disciple burst into laughter. "Junior Sister Jiang, haven't you noticed? We're afraid of Han Feng."

"What?" Jiang Surou's eyes widened in surprise.

"Han Feng fights shamelessly. He's fast, he's strong, and he keeps running while picking off our isolated members. Our numbers are useless against him—he just takes us out one by one."

Chapter 53

"So even if I beat you, I still wouldn't go help Ye Longyuan. If that's the case, why would I even bother fighting you?"

The Ye family disciple's reasoning was clear and precise.

Jiang Surou thought for a moment and replied, "Then aren't you afraid that after Han Feng defeats Ye Longyuan, he'll come looking for trouble with the rest of you?"

"Of course not. Han Feng's ability to defeat us depends entirely on us chasing him. If he were to come and attack us directly, we could just defend in formation and crush him in one wave.

Han Feng isn't stupid. He won't try to fight all the Ye family disciples at once.

His hatred is only directed at Ye Longyuan.

So, their grudge should be settled between the two of them. As a disciple of the Ye family, the only thing I'll do is keep you Jiang family members occupied so that you don't interfere with Ye Longyuan."

"We don't have any deep grudges between our families. There's no need to escalate this further.

Of course, if Junior Sister Jiang insists on taking action, we Ye family disciples won't hesitate to respond harshly.

And the rest of the Jiang family? They'll suffer with you."

"Then why don't you use us to threaten Han Feng? You seem confident in your strength," Jiang Surou sneered coldly.

The Ye family disciple smiled faintly. "As I said, there's no need for our families to harm our relationship further. And not all Ye family disciples are despicable.

Using others to threaten fellow disciples is something Ye Longyuan would do.

Deceiving and ambushing people? That's something Ye Wen would do.

But those are things I would never do."

"What's your name?"

"Ye Wulong, disciple of Yin-Yang Peak."

"Alright, I'll remember you!"

Jiang Surou said, giving him a long look before turning her attention back to Han Feng's battlefield.

Now, all she could do was silently pray that Han Feng would defeat Ye Longyuan.

She couldn't lead the Jiang family disciples into a direct fight with the Ye family again. While Han Feng stood alone, she had her family to consider.

Although she wanted to help him, she had already done all she could.

If she stepped in, it would spark another all-out conflict between the two families. The Jiang family was at a disadvantage and still wouldn't be able to help Han Feng.

Ye Wulong's response slightly improved the onlookers' perception of the Ye family.

They understood Jiang Surou's predicament and sympathized with her decisions. However, they also knew that the Ye family's decision not to assist Ye Longyuan was based entirely on Han Feng's overwhelming speed.

If they could catch up to Han Feng, they would definitely kill him without a moment's hesitation.

On the battlefield, the fight between Han Feng and Ye Longyuan had reached a fever pitch.

Despite Ye Longyuan's many protective artifacts and the vast resources of the Ye family, he was still only one of many disciples. It was impossible for him to have an unlimited supply of high-grade resources beyond his cultivation level.

The battle was fierce. Han Feng, no fool, stopped clashing head-on with Ye Longyuan and instead relied on his speed and agility to dodge attacks and counterstrike.

For every one attack Ye Longyuan landed on Han Feng, Han Feng would hit Ye Longyuan three times in return.

Both were in the Qi Refining stage, unable to unleash advanced divine abilities or techniques. Their fight was raw and primal.

Ye Longyuan inflicted wound after wound on Han Feng, but Han Feng shattered one protective artifact after another on Ye Longyuan.

After three hours of intense combat, both were battered and low on spiritual energy.

Finally, Han Feng broke Ye Longyuan's last protective artifact.

Both fighters fell to the ground, gasping for breath and completely exhausted.

Han Feng smirked coldly. "Got any more? How many protective artifacts do you have left? Used them all, haven't you?!"

Using his sword to prop himself up, Ye Longyuan sneered. "Yes, my protective artifacts are used up. But if you think that means I've lost, you're dead wrong.

How much spiritual energy do you have left? How much longer can you endure your injuries?"

Han Feng retorted, "And you think you've got more energy than me? Even if I'm more injured than you, I can hit you. You can't hit me. In the end, you'll still lose."

"No, no, no. Like I said before, you won't outlast me, you broke son of a bitch!"

Ye Longyuan pulled a pill bottle from his storage pouch, his voice dripping with mockery as he explained, "This is a bottle of Revitalizing Pills—high-grade ones at that.

They rapidly restore both injuries and spiritual energy.

These high-grade Revitalizing Pills were refined using a rare 350-year-old Three-Needle Flower as the main ingredient, personally cultivated by our Ye family.

The alchemist Zhao Huaiyun of Danxia Peak, a high-grade alchemist, crafted these pills himself.

That single Three-Needle Flower alone cost 4,500 spirit stones. Adding the auxiliary ingredients, the materials alone cost over 5,000.

Just one pill is enough to heal me completely.

Do you get it now, you poor wretch?"

With that, Ye Longyuan popped a pill into his mouth and laughed triumphantly.

Han Feng's face darkened. His opponent could restore his strength and energy, while he had no such resources. If this continued, his advantage would gradually fade.

Suddenly, Ye Longyuan stopped laughing. He glanced at the pill bottle in confusion.

"Huh? Why isn't it working?"

He poured out another pill, swallowed it, and waited. Still, there was no effect.

Han Feng's eyes widened in realization. He remembered something from last month.

The 350-year-old Three-Needle Flower Ye Longyuan mentioned… Han Feng had sold it at an auction. It had been one of the Marriage Blessing's returns, and the Ye family had bought it for 4,500 spirit stones, later handing it over to Zhao Huaiyun to refine.

Now, it seemed that the pills Ye Longyuan held were the very ones made from that flower.

Han Feng grinned. A trap he had inadvertently laid last month had come back to haunt Ye Longyuan.

A shot fired in the past had hit its mark in the present.

Han Feng's eyes burned with intensity as he stared at the pill bottle in Ye Longyuan's hand.

They didn't work for Ye Longyuan, but they would work for him.

Han Feng immediately launched a sword slash, sending a blade of energy toward Ye Longyuan's right hand. The attack injured Ye Longyuan and shattered the pill bottle he held.

The remaining five pills spilled onto the ground.

Ye Longyuan, now furious, ignored the pills. Since they were useless to him, he charged at Han Feng in a blind rage.

Han Feng, however, quickly pulled out the little fox and tossed her toward the scattered pills before engaging Ye Longyuan.

The clever little fox instantly understood everything. She quickly picked up the Revitalizing Pills from the ground, leapt onto Han Feng's chest, and secretly slipped the pills into his arms.

Her small body shielded the movement, and with Han Feng and Ye Longyuan locked in battle, no one noticed the exchange.

Well, done, my clever little fox!

Han Feng was elated. He quickly swept the pills into his storage pouch and, mid-fight, casually took one out and swallowed it.

Chapter 54

To those watching outside, it seemed obvious that the pill Han Feng took came from his own storage pouch. No one would suspect it to be one of Ye Longyuan's pills.

After consuming the pill, a surge of powerful medicinal energy coursed through Han Feng's body, healing his wounds and replenishing his spiritual energy.

The high-grade pill, refined by a master alchemist, lived up to its reputation. The effect was extraordinary.

Han Feng's injuries visibly healed at a speed noticeable to the naked eye.

Feeling his spirit energy replenishing and his body mending, Han Feng was reinvigorated. His attacks on Ye Longyuan became even more ferocious, completely overwhelming him.

Ye Longyuan grew weaker with each exchange, while Han Feng only grew stronger.

Finally, Ye Longyuan couldn't hold on any longer. Using all his strength, he swung his sword at Han Feng, forcing him to retreat.

Taking advantage of the brief respite, Ye Longyuan pulled out another pill from his storage pouch, gritting his teeth as he snarled,

"Han Feng! You think you've won just because I ran out of Revitalizing Pills? Look at this! This is a Bloodthirst Pill, capable of increasing combat strength drastically in a short amount of time.

This is a high-grade Bloodthirst Pill, refined from herbs aged hundreds of years.

This is my trump card. This time, either you die, or I do!"

With that, Ye Longyuan swallowed the Bloodthirst Pill in one gulp.

In the distance, Jiang Surou's expression changed drastically. She was well aware of the potency of the Bloodthirst Pill. While Han Feng had a slight edge now, once Ye Longyuan consumed the pill, his combat strength and speed would skyrocket for a brief period. In his current state, Han Feng would surely lose the advantage and be defeated.

She herself had used the White Lingluo Flower Han Feng gave her to refine some Bloodthirst Pills, but she hadn't given any to him because she never anticipated he'd need to fight.

Without a second thought, Jiang Surou took out one of her Bloodthirst Pills and tossed it toward Han Feng, shouting,

"Han Feng! Catch!"

But before the pill could reach Han Feng, a sword beam sliced it apart.

The one who intervened was Ye Wulong.

"Junior Sister Jiang, I already told you—it's best not to interfere."

"But Ye Longyuan has pills, and Han Feng doesn't!" Jiang Surou said angrily.

"That's not my concern. I won't assist Ye Longyuan either. Let's keep this fair," Ye Wulong replied calmly.

"Despicable… The entire Ye family is full of shameless scoundrels!" Jiang Surou gritted her teeth and cursed.

Meanwhile, Ye Longyuan laughed maniacally, believing victory was within his grasp.

But as he laughed, his expression suddenly froze.

"What? It's not working again! These swindlers! These alchemists sold me fake pills! They deserve to die!"

Ye Longyuan's face turned ashen.

Twice now, he had swallowed pills, thinking they would turn the tide in his favor. Twice, he had been humiliated.

Han Feng's expression turned strange.

Could it really be…?

Was the Bloodthirst Pill Ye Longyuan just consumed one of the ten refined by Bai Nuo?

If so, then Han Feng still had eight of those pills left!

Was it possible that a careless act from before had once again backfired on Ye Longyuan?

Han Feng chuckled inwardly. Perhaps he should cut back on such careless dealings. After all, play with fire long enough, and you're bound to get burned. Eventually, someone might catch him in the act.

But when he thought about how it had inconvenienced Ye Longyuan, he felt no guilt whatsoever.

Not a shred of remorse.

Instead, he felt grateful to his foresight from last month.

With a cold laugh, Han Feng pulled out a pill bottle from his storage pouch. Popping it open, he tipped a Bloodthirst Pill into his mouth. From the outside, no one could tell what kind of pill it was.

After putting the bottle away, Han Feng bellowed,

"Ye Longyuan! Don't underestimate me! You think you're the only one with pills? I've got them too! Sure, mine aren't as good as yours, but at least I worked hard and saved up to buy them. That's better than you, a useless, spoiled brat who takes everything from his family.

Unlike you, I admit when I rely on pills. But you? You take the pills, pretend they don't work, and then blame the alchemists. You're nothing but a hypocrite. Is this what all Ye family members are like? Shameless scoundrels!"

After deliberately confusing the situation, Han Feng immediately charged forward and launched a fierce attack on Ye Longyuan.

Ye Longyuan, shocked and horrified, hurriedly raised his sword to defend himself.

But with his spiritual energy depleted and his injuries severe, he was no match for Han Feng, who had fully recovered and was empowered by a Bloodthirst Pill.

From the start, Han Feng already had the upper hand in their fight.

With one powerful slash, Han Feng sent Ye Longyuan crashing to the ground.

Ye Longyuan hit the earth with a heavy thud, his bones fractured and his body seemingly on the verge of collapse.

Han Feng dove down, releasing three feather-shaped wind blades that struck Ye Longyuan's arms, further worsening his injuries. He then followed up with a heavy sword strike.

Ye Longyuan struggled to rise, his sword raised defensively. But Han Feng's sword, filled with immense power, struck Ye Longyuan's blade with such force that it shattered, sending the broken weapon flying from his hands.

The strike left a horrifying gash across Ye Longyuan's chest, deep enough to expose bone.

He was sent flying backward, crashing into the ground and leaving behind a massive crater. Blood poured from his mouth as he lay there, too injured to even stand.

Seeing this, Han Feng wasted no time. He flew over, pointing his sword downward, aiming directly at Ye Longyuan's dantian.

This was the final blow. Han Feng intended to cripple Ye Longyuan for good.

Han Feng wasn't one to show mercy, nor would he make the mistake of letting his enemy go due to hesitation.

However, Ye Longyuan was still conscious. He knew he was no match for Han Feng and that Han Feng wouldn't spare him. If he stayed, he would be crippled and tortured endlessly.

As the saying goes, "A gentleman takes revenge, even if it takes ten years."

In an instant, Ye Longyuan shouted,

"Exit!"

A beam of light descended from the sky, enveloping Ye Longyuan and lifting him upward.

Han Feng's expression darkened as he realized what was happening. But it was too late. His sword strike only managed to sever Ye Longyuan's left foot.

Ye Longyuan escaped, leaving behind a severed foot.

"AHHH!!!" Han Feng roared in frustration, his voice echoing across the battlefield. He slammed his sword into the ground, shattering the severed foot into pulp and carving a deep trench into the earth.

He couldn't accept it. Such a perfect opportunity, and it was gone.

He had crippled many Ye family disciples, but none of them were as important as Ye Longyuan.

In the distance, Ye Wulong, seeing Ye Longyuan escape, immediately commanded,

"All Ye family members, exit!"

"Exit!" the Ye family disciples shouted in unison before disappearing in beams of light.

Over the past three hours, both the Ye and Jiang families had finished making their offerings.

Jiang Surou flew to Han Feng's side, supporting his battered body. Seeing his injuries and the regret in his eyes, she said gently,

"It's alright. Even if you crippled him, you wouldn't have been able to kill him. We'll wait for the right opportunity in the future to finish him off ourselves."

Han Feng nodded, understanding her reasoning.

"How badly are you hurt?" she asked.

"He's seriously injured," the little fox interjected, jumping out with a concerned and serious expression. "Only a kiss from his Dao partner can heal him."

Chapter 55

"Eh?"

Jiang Surou froze, her expression momentarily blank and somewhat adorable. Then, her face flushed bright red as she smacked the little fox on the head.

"You little troublemaker, what nonsense are you spouting?"

Her cheeks were rosy with embarrassment. This little fox actually suggested that she kiss Han Feng?

In front of so many people, how could she possibly do such a thing?

Wait, that wasn't the main problem. The main problem was, how could she even think of kissing Han Feng? He wasn't even her…

Wait a second, wasn't he technically her Dao partner?

No, no, that wasn't the point either. Since when had she started accepting that? Why was she so concerned about Han Feng? When did she start caring about him?

It must be because she felt responsible for dragging him into this mess. That's why she cared about his safety. It wasn't because she genuinely cared for him.

Yes, that must be it.

Convincing herself with this reasoning, Jiang Surou adjusted her mindset, trying to calm her reddened face.

Meanwhile, Han Feng had also regained his composure, pulling himself out of his earlier frustration and disappointment.

It didn't matter if he couldn't destroy Ye Longyuan. If he had truly succeeded, Ye Longyuan would never dare step out of the sect again, making it even harder to eliminate him.

But with his cultivation intact, Ye Longyuan would inevitably leave the sect one day, giving Han Feng the opportunity to strike from the shadows.

This was a grudge that could never be resolved.

If Han Feng and Ye Longyuan were previously just romantic rivals, their relationship had now escalated to mortal enmity. After Ye Longyuan orchestrated assassination attempts, destroyed Wang Mian's cultivation, and after Han Feng retaliated by ruining Ye Longquan and other Ye family disciples, the hatred between them was set in stone.

From now on, Han Feng's battle was no longer against Ye Longyuan alone—it was against the entire Ye family.

Having caused so many losses to the Ye family, Han Feng's mere existence had become an unbearable humiliation for them. The Ye family would stop at nothing to kill him.

But Han Feng felt no regret. On the contrary, he felt it wasn't enough.

"Thank you for your concern, Senior Sister. I'm fine. How about you? Are your injuries serious?" Han Feng asked, looking at Jiang Surou with genuine concern.

"I'm fine—just a minor internal injury. I'll recover quickly with a pill. But you… your wounds are far too severe. Take this pill first."

Jiang Surou handed him a Revitalizing Pill.

Han Feng accepted it and swallowed it immediately. It wasn't the time to admit he had already taken one from Ye Longyuan.

"Thank you, Senior Sister Jiang, and thank you to the Jiang family brothers as well. I've caused you all so much trouble."

A Jiang family disciple laughed and said, "Come on, we're family. Why talk so formally?"

Han Feng's display of combat prowess and decisiveness had thoroughly won over the Jiang family disciples. A prodigy like him, destined for greatness, was someone they would gladly align with.

Han Feng was no longer the rejected "waste" he once was.

"How is Wang Mian?" Han Feng asked.

"He's stabilized somewhat, but… his dantian is beyond saving."

"I'll go see him."

Han Feng stepped onto his flying sword and swiftly flew to Wang Mian's side.

At that moment, Wang Mian was half-sitting, leaning against the Patriarch's statue.

"Wang Mian."

Han Feng knelt beside him, his eyes full of sorrow.

Wang Mian grinned and said, "Not bad, Han Feng. I saw that fight. You're no waste—you're incredible.

When I get out of here, I'll be able to brag that I have a prodigy of a brother!"

"Wang Mian… I'm sorry. This is all my fault. It's all because of me!"

"Don't say that. It wasn't you—it was Ye Longyuan. Blame him, not yourself.

Besides, you've already destroyed several Ye family members. We've not only broken even, we're ahead. Those Ye family disciples won't blame Ye Longyuan for their losses, and I won't blame you for mine.

But let's get one thing straight—I'm useless now. I can't cultivate anymore. From now on, I'll be counting on you to protect me.

Han Feng, you need to live. Even if it's just for me."

Han Feng nodded solemnly. Supporting Wang Mian by the arm, he helped him stand.

"Brother, you haven't made your wish yet, have you? Come on, let's kneel before the Patriarch and make our wishes. Let's ask the Patriarch to heal your injuries!"

Supporting Wang Mian, Han Feng knelt before the Patriarch's statue with a heavy thud. He then took out two Immortal Spirit Crystals from his storage pouch.

"These are the last two I have. One was given to me by Senior Sister Jiang, and the other I snatched from the little fox. We'll each use one."

"One is enough. That little fox is too greedy, haha," Wang Mian laughed heartily.

The two placed their Spirit Crystals on the ground and made their wishes with utmost sincerity.

Together, they spoke.

"Patriarch above, your descendants below humbly ask for your help. Please show your power and heal my brother Wang Mian's injuries. The path of cultivation means everything to him."

"Patriarch's statue, your descendant humbly asks for your blessing. Please let Han Feng live a safe and peaceful life."

Their simultaneous prayers resonated with the disciples around them, as well as those watching from outside the secret realm.

Everyone was moved.

The Ancestor's Ceremony was a once-in-a-lifetime event. It was a coming-of-age ceremony, a formal step onto the path of cultivation, and the key to obtaining one's first great opportunity.

It was the most unforgettable moment in a person's life—a chance to gain something without regard for background, family status, aptitude, or resources.

Yet these two individuals, without any prior agreement, had chosen to use their one and only opportunity to pray for each other.

Such brotherhood, such sincerity, moved everyone deeply. This was what true friendship looked like.

At that moment, Han Feng and Wang Mian's bond touched countless hearts.

The Patriarch's statue, identical to the one outside the secret realm, glowed faintly. In its hand were eight orbs, which lit up and cast beams of light onto Han Feng and Wang Mian.

This sight was familiar to many. Most people had experienced it and had seen it happen countless times.

The light shining on Wang Mian entered his forehead and faded after three seconds, much like what others had experienced.

"Granting you the Ancient Innate External Body Refining Technique—Indestructible Vajra Art. No need for a dantian. Temper your body, absorb spiritual energy into your meridians and flesh, converting it into innate internal force. Strengthen muscles and bones, develop your body to its limits. Achieve an indestructible, imperishable body."

Wang Mian opened his eyes. Though his injuries remained, his gaze was filled with shock and a faint hint of joy.

He recalled a legend: before the Immortal Dao Patriarch created the path of cultivation, this universe had been a martial world. At its peak, martial practitioners could sanctify their bodies.

Could this ancient body refinement technique be a deliberate choice by the Patriarch, passing on a technique from that era?

He turned to share his joy with Han Feng, only to see that the beam of light illuminating Han Feng hadn't faded.

Instead, Han Feng, eyes closed and seemingly unaware, began to float as the light enveloped him, his body relaxing and rising steadily.

This scene left everyone stunned. For the first time, they realized that the Patriarch's light could actually lift a person into the air.

Chapter 56

Han Feng's body gradually floated upwards.

He could no longer perceive any sounds or scenes from the outside world. It felt as though he was in a vast void, with only himself present.

A majestic yet gentle voice resonated.

"Given your innate Wind Spirit Root, you are most compatible with wind-attribute divine abilities and techniques. I grant you the technique and divine ability: Xun Art, Initial Chapter."

A complete yet intricate set of techniques instantly filled Han Feng's mind.

So this is what it means to make a wish? The legends about being able to gain divine abilities or cultivation techniques, or even having one's cultivation level elevated, were true after all.

But what exactly is this Xun Art? Is it a divine ability or a cultivation technique?

Cultivation techniques are methods for cultivation, while divine abilities are skills that might be defensive, offensive, or supportive. They're completely different things, Patriarch!

Of course, Han Feng wasn't about to question the Patriarch's decision with his limited knowledge.

However, the voice wasn't done speaking. It continued,

"Since you possess my bloodline and are a direct descendant of mine, I will awaken your bloodline and grant you the innate Wind Physique."

"Child, cultivate well. Take the path of wind to its utmost pinnacle."

The Patriarch's words were succinct, ending with a final admonition.

Immediately after, Han Feng felt intense pain throughout his body. Every inch of his flesh and skin seemed to scream in agony, as though he were being cut into pieces.

This… is bloodline awakening?

But why did the Patriarch say I have his bloodline?

"Keen Ancestor! The one granting blessings, are you there? Disciple has questions!"

At this moment, Han Feng still couldn't control his body. Confused, he could only call out to the Ancestor who had been granting him blessings.

Finally, the familiar voice, soft yet icy as ever, echoed in his mind. It was like the voice of a fifteen- or sixteen-year-old girl.

[I'm here.]

The Keen Ancestor's voice was as pleasant as ever but retained its usual cold tone.

"Did you see what just happened? Did you hear what the Patriarch said to me?"

[I saw. What's perplexing you?]

"Two things. First, what exactly is this Xun Art? It doesn't sound impressive at all."

[The simpler the name, the deeper its meaning, and the more powerful it is.

You might not know, but Han Xianzun comprehended the universe's supreme laws through the art of the Eight Trigrams.

The Eight Trigrams' eight positions represent the eight foundational universal rules, the strongest, most profound principles. All cultivation techniques and divine abilities are extensions derived from the Eight Trigrams' elemental attributes.

The Xun Art represents one of the universe's supreme laws. By cultivating it, you'll gain access to the fundamental divine abilities it provides, allowing you to progress further.

However, what you've received is only the Initial Chapter. Anything beyond the Immortal Dao isn't included, as Han Xianzun likely deems you unworthy of the complete Xun Art —for now.]

"What if I gift this Xun Art to my Dao partner and receive a tenfold return? Would the return be the complete Xun Art?"

Han Feng immediately spotted a loophole.

After a brief pause, the Keen Ancestor's voice returned.

[In theory, the full Xun Art wouldn't benefit you as you are now. But rules are rules—I made them, and I must follow them. If you gift it to your Dao partner, I will return the complete Xun Art to you.]

"Thank you!"

Han Feng gritted his teeth against the searing pain and continued asking.

"My second question: the Patriarch said I have his bloodline. What does that mean?"

[Because you are a descendant of Han Xianzun. His surname is Han. Your surname is Han. What's so strange about that?]

"But if I have such a powerful ancestor, why was I born into a simple farmer's family?"

[Do you realize that Han Xianzun existed over a hundred million years ago? In that time, his descendants have had descendants, generation after generation. His progeny are countless, scattered across the Nine Realms. Any Han family member could theoretically be a descendant of Han Xianzun.

The difference lies in whether one can awaken Han Xianzun's bloodline.]

"So, I've awakened it now, right? After all, the Patriarch personally awakened it for me."

[Yes. Awakening Han Xianzun's bloodline comes with immense benefits: skyrocketing combat power, unparalleled prestige in suppressing all human and beast bloodlines, accelerated cultivation, enhanced aptitude, and countless other advantages.

But there's a downside: if others discover your awakened bloodline, countless powerful figures will hunt you down, seeking to devour your body and blood. To them, your bloodline far surpasses any spiritual pill or elixir.]

"So you're saying I'm in danger now? Then I can't let anyone know about this bloodline awakening."

"By the way, Keen Ancestor, now that I've awakened this bloodline, does that mean I can cultivate on my own now?"

[No. You've obtained the innate Wind Physique and awakened the Patriarch's bloodline, but that doesn't mean you can cultivate. You're still unable to raise your cultivation level on your own. You're still a useless waste.]

"Uh… those last two words were unnecessary."

Han Feng mulled over his situation. It seemed likely that he'd continue lying flat from now on.

After all, if he couldn't cultivate, what else was there to do besides lying flat?

He could keep tending to flowers and herbs, basking in the sun, and keeping an eye on Ye Longyuan.

What a life. He didn't mind it one bit.

As Han Feng pondered, his eyes suddenly lit up, and his heart raced. He asked,

"Keen Ancestor, before, when I asked why you were helping me, you said I bore the resemblance and bloodline of someone you knew.

Now that I've awakened Han Xianzun's bloodline…

Does that mean the person you knew was Han Xianzun?"

Han Feng's heartbeat quickened. If the Keen Ancestor truly knew Han Xianzun, it would mean she and Han Xianzun lived in the same era. To live for over a hundred million years—she must be a monumental figure.

But the Keen Ancestor remained silent for a long time. Just as Han Feng thought she had gone offline, she finally spoke.

[The current you doesn't need to know so much. Matters at our level are beyond your comprehension at this stage and will only bring you disaster.

Enemies are everywhere. We must remain cautious.

Remember this: do not reveal your bloodline to anyone. Do not speak of me to anyone. The little fox knowing is fine, but no one else can know. If you die because of this, don't blame anyone but yourself.

And take good care of the little fox.]

With that, the Keen Ancestor's voice disappeared without a trace.

Han Feng now knew she had truly gone offline.

Without saying another word, he silently endured the bloodline awakening and physical transformation.

Meanwhile, the outside world was in chaos.

"What the hell? I've been watching forever. How long is this going to take?"

"What's going on? Everyone else's blessing takes three seconds max, but Han Feng's has already lasted three hours."

"That's unheard of. The longest blessing before this took only the time it takes to burn one stick of incense, and that person became a peerless prodigy."

"Could Han Feng's blessing be better than anyone else's? How is that possible? He only offered one Immortal Spirit Crystal!"

"Is it possible that Han Feng performed too well? He fought an entire group alone and won, crushing them effortlessly. Maybe his bond with Wang Mian moved Han Xianzun as well."

Chapter 57

On the outside, the disciples were all speculating about why Han Feng's blessing had lasted so long.

Theories ranged widely. Some said it was because Han Feng single-handedly fought off so many opponents without faltering, earning the favor of the Immortal Dao Patriarch.

Others believed his bond with Wang Mian had deeply moved the Patriarch.

There were also those who joked that it was because he shared the same surname, Han, as the Patriarch, so he received special treatment.

The last theory was met with widespread ridicule. After all, "Han" wasn't a rare surname; countless people bore it, including many within the Yin-Yang Sect. If such preferential treatment existed, why hadn't it happened to any of the other Hans before?

Unbeknownst to them, this seemingly absurd guess was actually the closest to the truth.

Regardless of the speculation, everyone was convinced that Han Feng had received an extraordinary opportunity.

They eagerly awaited the end of his blessing, hoping he would share what he had gained.

Finally, after another hour, the excruciating pain in Han Feng's body began to fade, replaced by an overwhelming sense of relief.

It wasn't particularly euphoric—just a return to normalcy—but after enduring four hours of torment, even "normal" felt like a heavenly blessing.

He noticed that his body felt far lighter than before. His connection to the wind element in the world around him had deepened dramatically. He could even sense the faintest gusts of air caused by nearby conversations and breaths.

Moreover, he found that he could now manipulate the power of the wind to some extent.

So this is the innate Wind Physique?

Not bad at all.

As Han Feng woke from his trance, the light surrounding him dissipated, and his body began to fall freely toward the ground.

Just as he was about to hit the earth, he landed softly and steadily on his feet.

"Han Feng, you're finally done. We were all so worried about you."

Jiang Surou frowned slightly as she spoke.

A nearby Jiang family disciple immediately interjected, "Hey, let's not get ahead of ourselves. 'We' weren't worried. Only you were."

"HAHAHAHA…"

The crowd erupted into laughter, and Jiang Surou blushed once again.

Supported by someone, Wang Mian hobbled over to Han Feng and said, "Hey, Han Feng, what did you get? Let me tell you, I—"

"Shut up. Talk about it after we leave."

Han Feng interrupted him decisively.

Wang Mian immediately understood and nodded in agreement.

With so many people around, Han Feng had no intention of revealing too much.

"By the way, where's Zhang Xiu?" Han Feng suddenly asked.

After entering the secret realm, Wang Mian had likely been with Zhang Xiu. Now that he only saw Wang Mian, he realized Zhang Xiu was missing.

Wang Mian frowned and shook his head. "I don't know. I was with her earlier, looking for Spirit Crystals. Then Ye Longyuan and his men showed up and captured me.

I don't have a communication jade slip with her, so she's probably still out there looking for me."

As if summoned by his words, a figure flying on a sword appeared in the distance, shouting Wang Mian's name.

Everyone turned to look and saw Zhang Xiu approaching, her face full of worry. She flew slowly, her Qi Refining fifth-layer cultivation limiting her speed.

"I'm here!" Wang Mian waved at her.

Zhang Xiu finally landed. Seeing Wang Mian's battered state, her eyes immediately welled up with tears. She cried, "What happened to you? How did you end up like this? Was it those Ye family bastards? Your dantian… it's ruined! Let's leave and get you treated immediately."

Wang Mian smiled bitterly and replied, "There's… not much hope for recovery. Sorry, Zhang Xiu, I can't keep my promise to cultivate with you and grow old together."

"Don't say that. A husband and wife share a bond for a hundred days—even if we've only been together for less than a month, we're still Dao partners recognized by the sect.

Even if you're… ruined, you still have me. I can take care of you. We'll be fine. I'll protect you, and I'll support you."

"Zhang Xiu…"

Wang Mian was deeply moved.

Those around them couldn't help but feel envious. Husbands and wives, as the saying goes, are like birds of the same forest, fleeing separately in times of trouble. But here, true feelings emerged in adversity. The two were only eighteen and hadn't known each other long, yet their bond was so deep. Even after Wang Mian had lost his path to cultivation, Zhang Xiu remained steadfast. Their dedication to one another inspired the envy of everyone around.

"Wang Mian, I couldn't protect you. After you were taken, I searched everywhere for you. In the southern mountains, I met a Senior Sister who said Ye Longyuan was fighting Han Feng near the Patriarch's statue. So I rushed over immediately.

But I was too slow. It took me hours to get here, and I was still late."

Seeing Zhang Xiu cry, Wang Mian reached out to wipe her tears and said with a smile, "It's okay. Han Feng already avenged me. He destroyed several of the Ye family disciples.

Let's not talk about it anymore. Go make your wish. Afterward, let's leave. No matter how great this place is, it's not better than home."

"Alright, wait here for me."

Zhang Xiu nodded, pulling out two Spirit Crystals she had found. She knelt and placed them as offerings.

A beam of light descended, entering her forehead. Three seconds later, it faded.

"So fast?" Han Feng was surprised.

Wang Mian rolled his eyes. "Brother, you're the only one in history who's ever had a blessing that lasted four hours, okay?"

"Alright, let's go."

Han Feng carried Wang Mian on his back.

The Jiang family disciples, Han Feng, Wang Mian, and Zhang Xiu all shouted "Exit!" together. A teleportation circle enveloped them, transporting everyone out.

Their surroundings blurred, and when their vision cleared, they found themselves back outside, facing tens of thousands of disciples and elders who had been watching. Above them, the Sect Leader and the Peak Masters gazed down.

"Han Feng! Han Feng! Han Feng…"

The crowd erupted, chanting Han Feng's name in unison.

First, because Han Feng's performance had been extraordinary, both in battle and during his blessing. Second, because Han Feng was an ordinary disciple without any backing, making him a symbol of hope for all the other ordinary disciples.

At this moment, Han Feng had become the standard-bearer for resisting oppression by the great families.

Stunned, Han Feng wondered why everyone was shouting his name.

The Sect Leader stepped forward, silencing the crowd with a gesture. Smiling kindly at Han Feng, he said, "Han Feng, don't be surprised. Because of what you accomplished in the secret realm and the words you spoke, you've earned the admiration of your peers. You're now a household name in our sect."

"What? They could hear what I said inside?" Han Feng exclaimed in shock.

He had always assumed the outside world couldn't hear what was said within the secret realm.

"That's right. Didn't you know?" The Sect Leader seemed just as surprised.

"I didn't! You never mentioned it!" Han Feng replied.

The disciples below burst out laughing.

Han Feng quickly tried to recall everything he had said inside the secret realm. Fortunately, there hadn't been any particularly embarrassing or cringeworthy remarks. Otherwise, he would've been too humiliated to face anyone.

How embarrassing…

Chapter 58

The Sect Leader waved his hand and said,

"Alright, everyone, stop hovering in the air and follow me to the main hall."

The Sect Leader led the other Peak Masters as they flew toward the Yin-Yang Sect's main hall, located behind the statue.

When the Sect Leader gave his order, Han Feng didn't dare disobey. Carrying Wang Mian on his back, he flew toward the hall with Zhang Xiu and Jiang Surou. The Jiang family disciples, however, went to regroup with their family's designated area.

The Yin-Yang Sect's main hall was a place for discussing important matters and receiving foreign guests. It was grand and opulent—so much so that Han Feng felt it was larger than a royal palace, though he had never actually seen one.

Once inside the hall, the Peak Masters took their seats. The Sect Leader gestured and said,

"Bring a chair for disciple Wang Mian."

The attendants outside immediately brought in a chair. Han Feng helped Wang Mian sit down before quickly asking,

"Sect Leader, could you take a look at Wang Mian's injuries? Is there any hope of recovery?"

The Sect Leader shook his head and replied,

"If he could be saved, why would you, Han Feng, have gone and destroyed the dantians of those other disciples?"

The implication was clear: Han Feng had acted so ruthlessly toward those disciples precisely because he knew destroyed dantians couldn't be restored.

Han Feng understood what the Sect Leader meant—Wang Mian's body truly had no chance of recovery.

Maybe somewhere in the world, there existed miraculous pills capable of bringing the dead back to life and healing all wounds unconditionally. But such treasures were far beyond Han Feng's reach; even the entire Yin-Yang Sect didn't possess them.

To the side, Elder Tie Lian, head of the Enforcement Hall, spoke coldly,

"From now on, the rules for the Ancestor's Ceremony must include a new provision: no one is allowed to destroy another's cultivation, in addition to the existing rule prohibiting killing.

In the past, no one was this ruthless, so there was no need for such a rule. But this time, Ye Longyuan and Han Feng have set a dangerous precedent. According to the current rules, they didn't technically violate anything, so they won't be punished.

But from now on, this can't happen again. If everyone started behaving like them, how many promising talents would we lose each year?"

The other Peak Masters nodded, indicating their agreement with this addition.

Elder Tie Lian then turned his gaze to Han Feng and said,

"As for you, Han Feng, there are two things I need to address with you.

First, regarding the Ye family's attempts to assassinate you, the Enforcement Hall will conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served. In the future, if anyone tries to assassinate you again, you can call on the Enforcement Hall for help.

If you're able to subdue the assassin on your own, remember not to kill them. Bring them to the Enforcement Hall—this old man will personally extract their memories and gather evidence to punish the Ye family. I will not tolerate their lawlessness!"

A warm feeling rose in Han Feng's heart. He cupped his hands and said,

"Elder Tie Lian's reputation for impartiality is well known. This disciple greatly admires you and trusts that you will ensure justice."

"Good. The second matter," Tie Lian continued, "is this: I've observed that you're both ruthless and deeply loyal, with a strong sense of justice and remarkable aptitude.

I'm willing to take you as a disciple, to bring you into the Enforcement Hall as one of its own, where you will uphold fairness and enforce justice with strict impartiality…"

Before Tie Lian could finish his sentence, a loud cracking sound interrupted him.

Everyone turned to look and saw that the armrest on the right side of Si Yu, the Peak Master of Luoxia Peak, had been shattered into pieces.

Si Yu's icy gaze swept across the hall. She extended her hand, letting the fragments fall to the ground, and said calmly,

"The chairs in this hall are far too fragile. They should be replaced."

The hall fell into an eerie silence. Despite her actions, none of the other Peak Masters dared to speak up.

The Sect Leader forced an awkward smile and said,

"Elder Tie, Han Feng is, after all, a disciple of Luoxia Peak. If you want to take him as your disciple, shouldn't you ask Peak Master Si Yu's permission first?"

Tie Lian stood up and retorted angrily,

"Why should I ask her? Every disciple has the right to choose their master, just as every master has the right to choose their disciple. A master-disciple relationship is only established when both parties agree.

If every Peak Master demanded that their disciples only study under them, how would the Enforcement Hall ever recruit anyone?"

Han Feng finally understood what was happening. His own Peak Master, Si Yu, was clearly angry about Elder Tie Lian trying to take him as a disciple.

It made sense. Given the aptitude and combat strength he had displayed, it wasn't surprising that these powerful figures wanted to take him under their wing.

But judging by her reaction, Si Yu didn't seem to have the best temper, did she?

The Sect Leader waved his hand and said,

"Sit down, both of you. You're the two most hot-tempered people in the entire sect. Of course, you both have the right to take disciples, as do the other Peak Masters."

The Sect Leader then addressed the group.

"Let me ask: who else is interested in taking Han Feng as a disciple?"

The Peak Masters exchanged glances, and just as a few were about to raise their hands, a low, threatening sound came from Si Yu.

"Hmm?"

The intimidating tone caused every other Peak Master to freeze and lower their hands.

Han Feng was stunned. Was his Peak Master really this domineering?

This seemingly young, beautiful, and curvaceous elder sister… was she really this formidable?

One icy hum, and the entire hall of Peak Masters was too scared to even speak?

This was definitely someone worth sticking to!

If he didn't cling to this thigh now, when would he?

Elder Tie Lian frowned and said,

"Si Yu, what are you trying to do? Are you saying you won't take him, but you won't let anyone else take him either?"

Si Yu, her lips barely visible beneath her veil, spoke coldly,

"Did I say I wouldn't take him? And did I say you couldn't try to compete?"

"With the way you're acting, who would dare to compete?"

"Is that my fault?"

"You… Humph! Impossible to reason with women!"

Crack! Si Yu shattered the armrest on her left side.

She stood up slowly and said,

"Whether I take him or not is up to me. I have very strict standards for accepting disciples; I don't take anyone without exceptional aptitude.

Han Feng claims he has a Wind-Attribute Heavenly Spirit Root, but I haven't personally verified it yet. How could I make such a hasty decision?"

After speaking, Si Yu motioned decisively for Han Feng to step forward.

Without hesitation, Han Feng hurried over obediently.

This woman had a temper—he had to tread carefully.

"Stand still. Don't move!"

Si Yu reached out her flawless, jade-like hand and placed it on Han Feng's neck, feeling for something. Then, she moved her hand to his dantian, infusing spiritual energy and extending her divine sense to probe further.

After a moment, Si Yu said,

"It's true. He has a Wind-Attribute Heavenly Spirit Root. His physical strength is remarkable, his vitality robust, and his bloodline exhibits traces of active, unique spiritual energy. I'm not sure what bloodline it is yet, but it seems promising.

Hmm, still a virgin."

Han Feng's face darkened. Was that last remark really necessary?

Si Yu gazed at Han Feng and said nonchalantly,

"When my disciple Jiang Surou chose you, I was initially baffled and couldn't be bothered to intervene. But now, it seems she made a good choice. You're worthy of her. She has good taste."

Jiang Surou's face turned slightly red. Good taste? She had no such thing. She had chosen Han Feng back then because she had no other options.

At the time, it was either him or a dog. And she couldn't exactly marry a dog.

But now, it seemed she had really lucked out.

Strange. Both Han Feng and Ye Longyuan had excellent aptitude and gave her similar pressure. So why didn't she find Han Feng annoying?

Chapter 59

The Sect Leader asked,

"Since Han Feng has such outstanding aptitude, are you willing to take him as your disciple?"

Peak Master Si Yu glanced at Han Feng coldly and said,

"Han Feng, are you willing to accept me as your master?"

But before Han Feng could respond, Elder Tie Lian interjected,

"Han Feng, I'm also willing to take you as my disciple. Think carefully, joining the Enforcement Hall offers plenty of opportunities to earn merit by completing missions, which can be exchanged for resources within the sect.

Follow me, and you'll gain far more than you would with Peak Master Si Yu."

Hearing this, Han Feng looked toward Peak Master Si Yu.

He's already offering terms—shouldn't you list your benefits too, so I can make a choice?

This feeling of having options was fantastic. It wasn't like last month's matchmaking event, where the elders only asked Jiang Surou if she was willing to choose him but never gave him a second chance to say whether he agreed.

Si Yu gave Han Feng a cold stare and said,

"Why are you looking at me? Waiting for me to raise the stakes? At my peak, aside from occasional guidance in cultivation, there's not much to do.

With your and Jiang Surou's aptitudes, I doubt it'll take long for you both to break through to Foundation Establishment. By then, as Heavenly Spirit Root disciples, you can become my personal disciples.

Other than occasional advice, most of your cultivation will be self-directed, with little else required."

Nothing to do? That's perfect—I can lay flat!

As for the resources Tie Lian mentioned, what use were they to him? He couldn't cultivate on his own anyway.

His progress depended entirely on Jiang Surou, and with her ties to the Jiang family, she wasn't lacking resources anyway.

Han Feng's eyes lit up. The more he thought about it, the more he liked Si Yu as a Peak Master.

Still, outright rejecting Elder Tie Lian might offend him, and that wouldn't be a good move. Better to give him a graceful way out.

Han Feng asked,

"Elder Tie Lian, I have a question. If I join the Enforcement Hall, would I need to work every day?"

"Of course. Every Enforcement Hall disciple is responsible for patrolling regularly, preventing fights, and maintaining order. It's a duty none of us can shirk," Tie Lian replied.

Han Feng nodded, clasping his hands and saying,

"Thank you, Elder Tie Lian, for your kindness. However, I've always been lazy by nature and prefer a relaxed life of growing herbs and basking in the sun.

If I had to work daily, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to handle it. Besides, my skills are limited, and I wouldn't be much help.

As a disciple of Luoxia Peak, I have deep feelings for my Peak Master. Moreover, my Dao partner is already her disciple, and I wish to remain with my Dao partner and join the same master.

I hope Elder Tie Lian understands."

Han Feng spoke sincerely, and everyone present nodded in understanding.

But there's always an exception to the rule.

The little fox on Han Feng's shoulder suddenly lifted her face and said seriously,

"He's lying. He only chose Sister Si Yu because he thinks she's pretty."

Everyone was stunned, staring at Han Feng in disbelief.

Even Jiang Surou narrowed her eyes at him, her gaze suddenly carrying a dangerous glint.

Flustered, Han Feng grabbed the little fox and tried to stuff her into his bag, gritting his teeth,

"Everywhere you go, you cause trouble! Shut up, and stop spreading nonsense!"

"Sister Xiao Surou, he's bullying me! Han Feng is bullying me!" the little fox cried out for help.

Jiang Surou immediately snatched the bag, pulled the little fox out, and glared at Han Feng.

"You're not allowed to bully her!"

Elder Tie Lian, rarely amused, chuckled and said,

"It's true. I can't compete with Peak Master Si Yu's beauty—it's no wonder she attracts young disciples."

"You old fart! And you're the head of the Enforcement Hall? Say one more word, and I'll tear your mouth apart!" Si Yu shot him a cold glance before turning to Han Feng and saying,

"Alright, since you've chosen me as your master, there's nothing more to discuss. When you return, complete the paperwork to become an outer disciple, pick a residence, and settle in.

Once you're ready, come to the peak of Luoxia Peak. I'll prepare a gift for you to mark our first meeting. From then on, focus on your cultivation."

"Thank you, Master!" Han Feng said, bowing deeply.

With that, Si Yu left the hall on her own.

The Sect Leader said,

"Alright, you may leave as well. The Ancestor's Ceremony has one more day to go, and we old folks still have to keep watch."

"Thank you, Sect Leader, esteemed Peak Masters, and Elder Tie Lian. Disciple takes his leave!"

After leaving the main hall, they ran into members of the Jiang family outside.

Unfortunately, the only one Han Feng recognized was Jiang Huayang.

"Father, Mother, you're here," Jiang Surou greeted them.

Han Feng looked closely. So these are my future father-in-law and mother-in-law? And that one who looks very coquettish and not quite like a decent person… must be the eldest sister-in-law?

Jiang Surou introduced them,

"Han Feng, this is my father, Jiang Qingzun. This is my mother, Li Qin. You already know my brother. And that one who doesn't look like a good person is my sister, Jiang Yinyin."

"You little brat! So I'm the only one who doesn't look like a good person, huh?" Jiang Yinyin walked over and tried to pinch Jiang Surou's cheek, but Jiang Surou swatted her hand away with a smile, showing that the sisters had a good relationship.

Han Feng, still carrying Wang Mian, clasped his hands in greeting.

"Greetings, Uncle, Aunt, Senior Brother, and Senior Sister."

Since they were only Dao partners and not married, and since the cultivation world lacked the formalities of the mortal world, there weren't many strict rules to follow.

Jiang Qingzun stepped forward and said with a warm smile,

"Han Feng, you performed admirably this time. You've earned the Jiang family's respect. I never imagined that Luoxia Peak had such a prodigy like you. Seeing you here fills my heart with joy."

Han Feng clasped his hands and replied,

"Thank you, Uncle, for your praise. This time, I owe my survival to the support of the Jiang family's brothers and sisters."

"No, it's not the Jiang family who helped you—it's you who helped the Jiang family," Jiang Qingzun said, shaking his head.

"At the matchmaking event back then, even if you hadn't been chosen, Jiang Surou would have picked someone else. Ye Longyuan would have acted the same way. In the secret realm, the Jiang and Ye families would have clashed regardless.

Jiang Surou was the catalyst for all of this, and you were the result. Cause and effect are inevitable. No matter who the result was, this conflict was bound to happen.

But had it been anyone else, they wouldn't have been able to withstand the Ye family's assault.

It was because of you, and only you, that the Ye family's threat was resolved, and the Jiang family disciples were protected.

Of course, while this all started because Jiang Surou chose you, I won't blame my daughter. She has the right to choose her own Dao partner. She didn't like Ye Longyuan, and no one can force her otherwise.

She wasn't wrong to reject someone she doesn't like.

If there's blame to be given, it lies with Ye Longyuan for being petty, malicious, and shameless.

If there's blame, it also lies with me for not uncovering Ye Longyuan's schemes earlier and for not paying enough attention to you.

If I had met you even once before, I would have recognized your talent and been able to prepare accordingly."

Chapter 59

The Sect Leader asked,

Chapter 60

Han Feng found himself surprised by how open-minded Jiang Surou's father was. He didn't place blame on either him or Jiang Surou. Instead, he seemed like a reasonable man who could discern right from wrong and deeply cared for his daughter.

Jiang Qingzun continued,

"Last month, I was away dealing with sect affairs and only returned the day before the Ancestor's Ceremony. That's when I first heard about you and Jiang Surou.

I thought I'd meet you after the ceremony was over. Looking back now, if I had met you before the ceremony, I might have discovered your talent and aptitude. With your combat skills, I could've supplied you with enough spiritual treasures, artifacts, and pills. Then you wouldn't have had such a hard time fighting Ye Longyuan.

He had pills, protective artifacts, and a crowd of allies.

While the Jiang family managed to hold off some of the opponents, there were still many foes left for you to face on your own.

This was my mistake. I underestimated the stakes of this ceremony and underestimated the Ye family's cruelty and shamelessness."

"Uncle, please don't blame yourself. These events were completely unexpected. After all, who could have anticipated that the Ye family would go to such extremes? From the start, I never intended to fight them—I just wanted to complete the ceremony and leave.

This wasn't something that only we failed to foresee. Anyone would have been caught off guard by the Ye family's actions."

Han Feng explained sincerely.

Jiang Qingzun nodded, saying,

"I'm glad you feel that way. I was worried you might hold a grudge. Clearing the air with words is always better.

As Jiang Surou's Dao partner, I should've met you earlier to assess your character and talent. But after seeing how you conducted yourself in the secret realm, I realize there's no need for me to test you further.

You're excellent. Truly excellent.

This time, because of Jiang Surou, we brought you trouble. But in turn, you helped the Jiang family. The Jiang family owes you a great debt.

If you ever need anything, come to our home. Just say the word. Don't treat us as outsiders."

Jiang Surou's mother rolled her eyes and added,

"Look at you. Why does he need to have a reason to visit? The Jiang family will always welcome Han Feng."

Han Feng smiled warmly, feeling a sense of belonging as he said,

"Thank you, Uncle and Aunt."

Jiang Qingzun looked at Wang Mian, who was still on Han Feng's back, and sighed.

"This young man… He's a good child too. It's such a pity what happened to him. Once we return, I'll prepare a small token of apology to send to him."

Wang Mian laughed,

"It's nothing, just a small matter. Uncle doesn't need to worry."

Jiang Surou interjected,

"Father, Mother, if there's nothing else, we'll head back now. There are still things to take care of. Han Feng also needs to meet his master."

"Alright, go on. Rest well once you're back."

"Got it."

The four of them flew toward Luoxia Peak.

During the journey, Wang Mian grumbled,

"You damn bastard, Han Feng. You didn't tell me you could fly. You made me climb the mountain with you like a fool!"

Han Feng grinned but stayed silent.

They reached the outer disciples' area at Luoxia Peak and arrived at Zhang Xiu's small courtyard.

In the outer disciples' quarters, most lived in simple row houses. Only those with family resources, like Jiang Surou, had private buildings funded by their families.

Once inside Zhang Xiu's residence, they entered her room and placed Wang Mian on the bed to rest.

Han Feng said,

"Alright, no one else is here now. If you've got something to say, just spill it."

"I'll go first."

Jiang Surou, holding the little fox, stared coldly at Han Feng and asked,

"Shouldn't you explain your cultivation? What's going on?"

"Hmm? What do you mean?"

"You're supposed to be a waste, aren't you? Where did your cultivation come from?"

Wang Mian chimed in,

"Exactly! I've lived with you for five years, eaten with you, slept near you, and I've never seen you cultivate seriously. How the hell are you at the peak of Qi Refining?"

Han Feng chuckled.

"Natural talent."

"Then why did you pretend to be a waste?" Jiang Surou pressed further.

Looking at her intently, Han Feng replied,

"Because I'm not you."

"What do you mean?"

"You're a Heavenly Spirit Root cultivator, with great aptitude. But you have a powerful family backing you up. No one would dare touch you.

But I don't have that.

I have to keep a low profile. I have to protect myself. The tallest tree catches the wind."

Han Feng used his usual reasoning.

"But once you revealed your aptitude, wouldn't it attract more attention? The Sect Leader and Peak Masters would notice you and provide better resources and protection."

"I don't want all those resources. I just want to live peacefully. That's all.

Power, wealth, and glory—I'm not interested. I just want to plant flowers, grow herbs, bask in the sun, and live a carefree life.

If I wanted resources, I would've told your father earlier that I wanted to marry into the Jiang family. With my aptitude, the Jiang family would've invested heavily in me.

But I don't want that."

Hearing this, Jiang Surou looked at him for a long moment before saying,

"If not for this incident, would you have continued pretending to be weak?"

"To be honest, even when I left you to find Wang Mian, I hadn't planned on revealing my true strength.

I just wanted to make my wish with Wang Mian and leave to continue my peaceful life.

It wasn't until the little fox wanted to eat Spirit Crystals that I exposed my strength to go steal some."

"You're so good to me," the little fox said happily.

"I really don't get how your mind works. No ambition at all!" Jiang Surou rolled her eyes at him.

"Call it a lack of ambition if you want," Han Feng said. "I just want to live quietly. I don't want to offend anyone. This time, I was forced to act because of Ye Longyuan."

Han Feng glanced at Jiang Surou and added with a smile,

"If I shine too brightly, wouldn't I steal the spotlight from you, my dear Senior Sister?"

"As if I care," Jiang Surou said coldly, turning her head away.

"Sigh, I really owe Wang Mian an apology."

Han Feng sat down and sighed.

But Wang Mian grinned and said,

"Han Feng, do you believe me when I say I can still cultivate?"

"You can still cultivate?"

The three of them were shocked. Jiang Surou quickly said,

"That's impossible. Your dantian is destroyed. Where would you store spiritual energy?"

Wang Mian smirked proudly.

"Guess what kind of blessing I got during the ceremony?"

"If you keep us guessing, I'll crush your balls first!" Han Feng growled through clenched teeth.

"Haha, fine, I won't tease you anymore. You've all heard that before the Patriarch founded the Immortal Dao, this world was a martial world, right?

In that ancient era, martial arts were taken to the peak. It's said the strongest could shatter the void with their bodies, rivaling saints.

The blessing I received from the Patriarch is an ancient body-refining technique called the Indestructible Vajra Art!

It doesn't need a dantian. It focuses solely on refining the body. Once mastered, the body becomes imperishable and indestructible, unimaginably powerful!"
