Famous Among Top Surgeons in the 90s

Chapter 1347: Which expert is Expert Xie?

As the two of them were speaking softly, the people around could catch bits and pieces of their conversation.

"Are they doctors from your hospital?" Professor Han Yongnian asked Shao Jialiang.

"No," Shao Jialiang explained to the professor, "they are gastroenterology doctors from Guoxie."

"Doctors from your hospital invited to help."

"No, it was me—" Shao Jialiang glanced at Wei Guoyuan, it was actually Wei Guoyuan who suggested it.

Wei Guoyuan was about to say something when a family member seemed to catch wind of it at the door. The elderly lady they saw in the morning peeked around the endoscopy room door and asked the doctors, "Is Dr. Xie here?"

The nurse walked over and stopped the family member, saying, "The doctors are about to treat the patient, please wait outside and don't come in."

"I know, I'm just asking if Dr. Xie is here," the elderly lady said.

It seemed this family member had quite an obsession with Dr. Xie. Those unfamiliar with Xie Wanying started to believe she was an expert; otherwise, why would she receive such admiration from the family?

"Which one is Expert Xie?" Professor Han Yongnian asked.

Xie Wanying was taken aback: Since when did she become an expert?

The two male classmates looked at her, partly in awe of her becoming an expert and partly wanting to laugh but not daring to.

Yu Xuexian adjusted his glasses as if calm, yet his lips curled into a slight smile. The teachers among them could foresee that there was indeed an Expert Xie emerging, just that for now, as a student, she had to hide her light under a bushel.

Shao Jialiang was unsure how to explain Expert Xie's true identity and looked again at Wei Guoyuan: See, it's almost becoming a farcical misunderstanding, what should we do?

Not wanting his suggestion to put his colleagues in a tough spot, Wei Guoyuan stepped forward and said, "Though Dr. Xie is just an intern, she has her unique way of thinking."

"An intern?" The doctors from Guo Zhi Hospital were surprised to hear that a mere intern was being revered by a patient's family.

Professor Han Yongnian said, "Since she has a method, let her try it."

Perhaps the professor said this with the patient's interest in mind, thinking everything can be tried first. If it can cure the patient, what reason do the doctors have not to try? Feng Yicong and Pan Shihua, however, were worried about Student Xie. Originally, they called Student Xie over just to give some advice, but now the professor was directly suggesting she give it a go.

"Don't underestimate medical students," Professor Han Yongnian remarked, clarifying that he wasn't a narrow-minded senior, but genuinely wanted to see the intern display her skills, "Dr. Xie is about to graduate, right? Soon she will be fighting on the same front as us doctors."

She wasn't about to graduate, she had only recently started her clinical training, and just completed rotations in two departments, this being the third.

"Future gastroenterology doctor?" Professor Han Yongnian further inquired about who would be the future pillar of gastroenterology.

"She's a surgical intern," Yu Xuexian turned his face and replied directly to the other's inquiry. Wei Guoyuan and the others looked embarrassed, unsure how to continue answering because the logical guess was normal but increasingly far from the truth.

Professor Han Yongnian and the other two people from Guo Zhi Hospital were finding it hard to understand what they were saying.

"She doesn't seem to know much about endoscopy," the two young doctors from Guo Zhi Hospital whispered to each other, deducing that Dr. Xie was probably the very young female doctor in front of them.

Professor Han Yongnian was a bit dumbfounded, an intern who didn't even understand endoscopy coming here to supposedly perform an endoscopic surgery on a complex case patient?
