False Villain : Anunnaki System vs Demon Contract

Chapter 89: 086. Leaving Donggala For Good.

Reizel opened his eyes slowly and found himself lying on the bed. He was no longer sick or feverish, though he still felt a little tired.

But why?

Reizel wanted to know what exactly happened to the kalomba king's curse that made him sick, but he was more curious about the fact that he woke up in a room that he recognized...

A shared room that was the bedroom of the system users who were Johan's subordinates.

It was a spacious room with several beds and a wardrobe by the wall.

Even the morning sunlight coming in through the windows. All the atmosphere was quite soothing and brought back some memories that made Reizel exhale slowly.

"You're finally awake," said Putri who was standing next to Reizel's bed.

The wavy-haired man got up from his sleeping position and sat on the bed. "What happened?"

Putri put on an awkward smile. "We got away by a miracle, hehe..."

Reizel suddenly realized something and immediately looked around. "Where is she? Where is Lana?"

"Do you mean her?" asked the Putri who pointed out the black skull-headed creature that had been standing behind the girl.

Reizel breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness."

"Who exactly is this creature?"

"She..." Reizel hesitated for a moment before finally continuing his sentence. "She's Lana... My little sister, or at least the one who used to be my little sister."

"Eh?! Her?! Your little sister?!" Putri looked at the black skull-headed creature intently. "She doesn't look like you.

Reizel chuckled instead. "It's a long story. I'll tell it to you later. By the way, how did we get here?"

"Hmn... You don't seem to remember. But originally we rode on Ignoir's back and flew away. This and that happened and we were blocked by a guy named Rama and -"

"You guys defeated Rama?!"

"It was more like Brother Aril who defeated him, he came with Zaskia and -"

"Huh?! Why did he come that fast? What happened?"

"Aaaaaa!!!" Putri hit Reizel's shoulder in exasperation. "Don't interrupt my story! Let me finish!"

"Sorry... I was just a little surprised. If it's a long story, sit down first."

"That... Ehehe... I can't sit down..." Putri laughed awkwardly.

Reizel raised one of his eyebrows. "Why?"

Putri's face turned red with embarrassment and she looked down. "Because big-brother Aril lectured me while spanking my butt many times."

Reizel laughed immediately. "Hahaha... That's right, Aril must be very angry after knowing everything."

"Don't laugh! It's not funny! My butt still hurts!" Putri shouted while smacking Reizel's shoulder.

"So, where is Aril now?" asked Reizel who was still chuckling slightly.

Putri suddenly fell silent then sighed. "He accompanied Jessica and the others to Johan's funeral."

That statement instantly changed the atmosphere and made Reizel pensive for a while.

"So... Johan..."

"Yep... He passed away..."

---------------------------------------------------

The morning sunlight shone down on a long-abandoned orphanage house. Even before all the chaos caused by Gilgamesh's announcement, it might been abandoned long before that.

The orphanage house was made of wood that was now weathered and overgrown with vines. The grass grew tall and so did the overgrown wooden fence.

A large board stood right in front of the fence with the words ( Kartini Orphanage).

There are even some old swings and slides that are now covered in moss.

Right next to the old house, a funeral was being held.

Jessica was crying in front of the mound of earth that was Johan's grave and beside her was Nabil who looked devastated. Behind her was Zaskia who looked sad and tears were flowing out of her eyes even though she tried to be strong.

Behind the three grieving people, three men stood and just stared ahead, at Johan's grave. They were Aril, Galih, and Adit.

"So, why are we burying him here?" asked Aril.

"Jessica said her mother was from here," Galih replied.

"Her mother was Indonesian?" Aril asked again.

"That seems to be the case. She doesn't want to tell us anything about her parents other than the fact that her mother came from this orphanage."

"Hmn... And she wants Johan to be buried in this place? I think this is the best place for Johan." Aril suddenly remembered Salma's grave. "The best place to go home is back to where the family is."

After almost an hour of crying, Jessica's tears could no longer come out and she could only sob sadly.

Aril exhaled heavily and walked over to the blonde girl.

"I apologize for Johan's death and -"

Jessica suddenly turned around and punched Aril in the chest. "Why didn't you come sooner?!"

Jessica's height was only about Aril's waist and her punches were not even physically painful, but seeing Jessica crying made him think of Putri when she lost Salma. Aril could only stay silent and feel sympathy for the girl in front of her.

"Why?! Why are you so late?! Why?! Why..." Jessica's punches stopped and the girl gripped Aril's shirt tightly. "...Why did uncle Johan have to die?"

"Jessica, I promised Johan that I would help him and make sure you leave safely," Aril said.

"I don't want to go... I want to be with Uncle Johan," Jessica replied, her face looking down.

"That's not what Johan would want, he would want you to live with -"

"No! I'm not going!" Jessica ran straight to Johan's grave and hugged the piece of wood that served as the tombstone.

"Uncle Johan is already at mama's... Uncle Johan is with Mommy..." Jessica hugged Johan's gravestone tightly. "I don't want to go... This is my place..."

Aril sighed and walked towards Jessica, lifting the girl forcibly with his right hand and carrying her vertically like a big pillow.

Jessica screamed angrily while thrashing around. "Let go of me! Let me go!"

The girl punched Aril in the stomach, but the young man did not respond to Jessica's frustration.

"We plan to go to Poso city, it might be safer than this place and I promised Johan to take Jessica to safety," Aril said.

"I'm coming," Galih replied swiftly. "I don't have anywhere else to go anyway."

"Me too," said Adit.

Zaskia looked panicked and worried. "Wait, don't leave me here alone! I'm coming too!"

Aril looked at Nabil who seemed to be hesitating as if something was bothering him.

"You're not coming?" Aril asked Nabil.

"I..." Nabil averted his eyes as if he didn't want to look at Aril.

But Zaskia immediately grasped Nabil's hand tightly. "Come along, why do you want to live in a dead city like this anyway?"

Although still overwhelmed by doubts, Nabil finally nodded his head and agreed to come along.

"Let me go, put me down, I want to be with Uncle Johan!" shouted Jessica who tried to get away from Aril.

And of course Aril didn't respond to Jessica at all.

Everyone walked out of the orphanage and onto the road one by one. Aril, who was at the very back, glanced once more at Johan's grave with a look of sympathy. But when he saw the sunlight shining on Johan's grave and also the orphanage house where Jessica's mother was, he felt sure that Johan had come home.
