Chapter 13: Bound (Part 02)
There wasn't much time left before the wedding, Angel had to hurry. Just one more page. He kept reading through the books in the secret library. He had a whole pile of books stacked next to him reading book after book. He hoped to find something that would help him find a way to be with Raven. He'd take anything, just a tiny shred of hope. Yet, he found nothing. All that was left for them was death. "Damn it all," Angel threw the book clear across the room. The book landed on the floor with pages opened. As if summoned, Brandon came into the library to check on the noise.
"You find something," Brandon shut the door behind him. "I've been outside guarding the door for hours. You had me out here all night long. Please tell me you-," He screamed. "Aw jeez, one of the books is opened." He shielded his eyes. "Close it, Close it, if I so much as look at that book I'm a dead man. Close it."
"Sorry," Angel picked up the book and put it back on the table. "I was just getting frustrated." He let out a deep sigh. "I've been up reading books for hours and I'm getting nowhere. The outcome is always the same. Every scenario where a werewolf and a vampire date or try to be together. They always end up dead. There's never been a scenario where they succeeded in living a happy life. They die long before reaching it."
"What'd you expect?" Brandon shrugged his shoulders. "Sure, it's happened before. But," He let out a deep sigh. "We're talking about the one thing vampires and werewolves both agree on. So of course, the odds are stacked against us. I'd go as far as to say it's damn near impossible. Still, if anyone can pull this off, it has to be you." He smirked. "I've seen you do some pretty cool shit." He was trying to cheer him up, but Angel was beyond cheering up at this point. He felt completely and utterly defeated.
"Yeah but none of it is going to help me with Raven." Angel flipped through another book. "I read something about elders, so it's nice to know there's more of us. However, most of the books regarding them have lines crossing out the words. So I can't read them."
"Bro," Brandon yelled. "Don't tell me what's in the books. I don't want to know." He scolded. "You get that we aren't even supposed to be looking at this shit let alone touching or worse reading this shit. If Lord Alexander finds out about this, you're going to die, make no mistake he will kill your ass." He pointed out. "Look, I'd love to help but ugh, we're talking about Lord Alexander here. I got diamond armor, he controls diamonds. I'm dead, he can kill me whenever he wants. He just has to snap his fingers and I'm dead. It's that easy, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't share your findings with me."
"Right, sorry," Angel apologized.
A knock was heard on the door, Angel quickly hid all the books back in the secret library. He locked the door back and tucked the key into his back pocket. "Open it," He ordered, Brandon unlocked the door and let the person inside the library.
"Um, I thought the library was available to everyone." Ziek walked inside, Brandon locked the door back. "Why are we locking the door? Angel, what's going on?" Brandon quickly grabbed Ziek from behind, trapping him in a headlock. "Brandon, if you don't let me go, I swear I'll break your arm. You have until the count of three to let me go." He warned. "One,"
"Sorry, but you're asking questions. You gotta die," Brandon gripped tighter. "I have to kill you man to protect my bro. You know too much." Ziek elbowed him in the rib cage making him let go then he spun trapping Brandon in headlock. "I was just kidding, no need to kill anybody," Ziek kicked Brandon in the ass forcing him into the table. "Did you just kick my ass?" He rubbed his butt. "That's just rude,"
"I'll do it again too, don't ever grab me like that again." Ziek warned. "Don't forget who taught you those moves." Brandon nodded. He pulled up a chair and sat down. "What's this?" He picked up the book Angel left on the table. "What's with the lines over the words?" Angel forgot about the book he put on the table. Brandon gasped, he grabbed a book off one of the many bookshelves and began beating Ziek with it.
"Don't look at it, it's forbidden," Brandon kept hitting Ziek with a book. "You will die man, you will die." Ziek stole the book from Brandon and pointed at him as a warning. "I'll get another one, this library has plenty. Now, this is top secret Angel business so I need you to get the fuck out. Thanks for stopping by but the Library is now closed."
"Enough, Brandon, Ziek knows." Angel took the book from Ziek and put it back on the bookshelf. "I told him about Raven." Brandon walked over to him and picked Angel up by his shirt. "Brandon, put me down."
"You told him, he's a liability, he could tell on us." Brandon began shaking him. "Why would you tell him? The more people know the worse it is. I love Ziek, he's cool but this is sensitive information. If one person snitches, you're dead. So, stop telling people." He let go off Angel, he fell on his ass. "Sorry about that bro," He walked up to Ziek. "I didn't know that Angel told you about his new girlfriend."
"Yeah, she's also my sister," Ziek replied.
"Sister, wait, wouldn't that mean that Claire is also your sister?" Brandon asked, Ziek nodded. "Bro, you're dating my sister." He pointed at himself. "So hear me out," Ziek rolled his eyes. "How cool would it be if I dated your sister." He pointed at Ziek. "We could pull this off, I have Claire's number. This will fix everything, we're going to be Bros." He grabbed Ziek and hugged him tightly. "This is awesome, you can marry my sister and I'll marry yours. It's perfect, I love it."
"I don't know what to say to this," Ziek shook his head. "I didn't think this through but yeah, I guess if she likes you. Then yes, I guess it's fine." He crossed his arms. "I mean, I don't even like that one to begin with," He shrugged. "She's all yours. She's a bitch though, just a warning."
"So's mine but you're still dating her." Brandon pointed out. Ziek shrugged in response. "So Ziek, did you kick Angel's ass when you found out that he fucked your sister? If not, I have no problem with leaving and letting you whoop that ass. Cause, believe me, I get it." He grinned. "But how cool is this, Ziek's dating my sister, I'm going to date Claire, and Angel is dating Raven. We're going to be bros for life, this is the best idea ever. I love this idea so much."
"I'm sure you do," Angel agreed. "Let's not forget that Claire hates you. So, you may have to give up on that dream." He grabbed the forbidden book off the table. He took it back to the secret library in the exact same spot he found it in. "Besides," He locked the door to the secret library. "I have no idea what to do about my relationship with Raven. I've read dozens of books from that library. Not one of those books is giving me a shred of hope." He sat down in his chair. "What was I thinking? There's no way this can work."
"You're right, it won't work if you give up." Ziek sat across from him. "Okay so, let's work through it together. What's the plan that you guys settled on?" He asked. Brandon pulled up a chair and sat next to him.
"Well," Brandon rested his arms on the table. "Our plan is to find out more about the war and by doing so, maybe. We'll find a way to stop it." He answered. "So Angel stole the key to Lord Alexander's secret library and we decided to start there. But, like I told Angel," He gestured over to him. "I want nothing to do with what's in that library. I'll check the other books but not those. Lord Alexander will kill whoever reads that stuff, I don't want to be on the list. So," He shrugged. "I'll just guard the door."
"That'll work," Ziek agreed. "Or. You could go get me a pen and some paper. So, that way, we can write down any information that may be of use to us. If we're going to do this, we might as well be smart about it. " Angel couldn't argue, it would be much smarter to write down their findings and review them in the comfort of their bedroom. It would draw less attention and prevent several trips to the secret Library.
"That's a great idea," Brandon got out of his chair. "I'm going to get those for you but after that I'm guarding the door. Like I said, I don't want any part in this." He walked out of the Library to retrieve the supplies Ziek asked for.
"Look, Ziek, you don't have to do this." Angel reasoned. "If I get caught reading those books, it's fine. I'm dead anyway, I slept with a werewolf. But if you do this, they'll kill you. You haven't done anything to upset them yet. So, don't start now. Let me handle this. I can do this, I have to do this for her."
"Spare me the whole: "This information is dangerous and can get you killed." speech. Okay?" Ziek pressed his arms on the table. "We're talking about my sister and her future. She wants to be with you and you've earned my blessing. So," He smirked. "I'm going to help you any way I can. If not for you then I'll do it for her. She's my sister, she deserves to be happy. So, we're doing this together. It's not up for discussion."
"I'm back," Brandon set a journal down in front of Ziek. He took a pen out of his pocket and placed it on the journal. "While you guys are busy studying I'll be outside guarding the door. Let me know if you need anything else." He walked out of the room. Ziek opened the blank journal and took hold of the pen.
"Alright, Angel, what have you learned so far?" Ziek asked.
"Okay well," Angel began trying to recall all the information he read. There was a lot but not all of it was useful. What was useful, there was very little. It was almost like Lord Alexander was trying to cover it up. "Let's see," He rubbed his chin. "Elders," He pointed at Ziek, he began writing it down. "I learned that there are Elders, one vampire and one werewolf. Elders are considered the strongest and the oldest of their kind. They outrank the King, the Elder of the Vampires is Lord Alexander's father. But that's all I really know about him but he outranks him." He pointed out.
"That's good but, does it say what his stance on the war is?" Ziek asked. "If he believes the same as his son then." He paused. "We are right back where we started." He set his pen down. The information on the Vampire Elder was scattered from book to book. It was hard for him to recall everything he read about him. It was difficult even having just read about him.
"Well ugh," Angel kept racking his brain for answers. "I read something about how the Vampire Elder and Werewolf Elder knew each other." Ziek nodded and began writing. "They didn't fight each other like people wanted them to. Their relationship wasn't built on anger or distrust or anything like that. I think they were just different and," He paused. "They accepted each other for their differences. It was more like they agreed to disagree. But no conflict, not once, did it ever mention them fighting each other."
"I'll be damned," Ziek smirked. "We might have something here. I mean if we can seek out the Vampire Elder. He might force Lord Alexander to call off the war. If he and the Werewolf Elder aren't enemies. Then, I see no reason why he'd be okay with his son killing off the Werewolves. This war is a direct attack on the other Elder's people. Likewise, I don't see the Werewolf Elder being okay with Lord Grimm doing it either. That's it, the Elder's are the key to ending the war peacefully."
"That's why Lord Alexander is covering up their existence." Angel pointed out. "It also explains the lines crossing out words in the books." He added. "Who knows, I mean it's a stretch but maybe the Elders wouldn't be so against me and Raven dating. If I told the Elder and plead my case. Maybe he'll listen or at least provide me with some solution." He shrugged. "From what I've gathered, he doesn't hate werewolves so there's a chance right?"
"I mean," Ziek shrugged. "He knows the Elder of the Werewolves and he doesn't have issues with him. It's worth a shot," He reasoned. "We need to find out as much as we can about the Vampire Elder. We get his whereabouts, we might stop the war and save your relationship. We got a heading."
"It began with the Elders, it should end with them." Angel let out a sigh of relief. He had a tiny sliver of hope and it was enough to keep him going. He owed it to Ziek without him. He wouldn't have been able to clear out the clutter. At least now, they had a heading.
That just leaves one more problem that Angel had to deal with. If he wanted his relationship with Raven to work. He needed to get his hands on some Sun Repellant IX. The only way to get his hands on it was either from Fate or Selene. Both cases seemed unlikely seeing as people who were turned had to get permission from the king first. Anyone caught giving them some without permission were punished. The only way he was going to get his hands on it without blowing his cover was to steal it from the medical lab. Perhaps, he could go into Patience's old bedroom. If he recalled Brandon did break through-. Never mind, Lord Alexander most likely had the wall fixed by now. This was going to be tricky unless…
"Ziek," Angel pressed his arms on the table. "Didn't you say that Selene was going dress shopping with Blaire?" He asked him.
"Well yeah," Ziek closed his journal. "She's helping Blaire get ready for the wedding." He slid the journal over to Angel. He took it and placed it beside him. "Your wedding to be exact, a wedding that you're not even dressed for yet. Unless, you plan to attend it in your skull print pajama bottoms." He joked. "What are you up to?" He raised his brow.
"I'm not up to anything." Angel rose to his feet and picked up the journal. "You're right though, I should probably get ready for the wedding. I wouldn't want to keep my bride waiting. Blaire might kill me if I leave her at the altar a second time. Besides, Raven will be there, I look forward to seeing her even if." He bit his lip. "She is marrying that no good piece of shit Prince." Ziek laughed.
"Do I detect a hint of jealousy?" Ziek added jokingly. "Look, to be fair, I'm not a huge fan of my sister marrying that guy either. Just think, after they get married. She has to go on a honeymoon with him. You know what honeymoon's are for. She's going to-." He choked on his words. "It's gross, just thinking about him with my sister. Just gross."
"Don't remind me," Angel opened the door to the library and left. He tried to erase the thought Ziek had placed in his head. He could see it. Lycan's hand reaching out and touching Raven, his lips kissing her. After they marry, Angel will undoubtedly know that Lycan had slept with Raven. His everything being defiled by that wolf. Still, he had no choice but to be okay with it. She's allowing him to sleep with Blaire. It was only fair, but, regardless of that.
Angel was filled with so much anger. He wanted to punch Lycan in the face until his knuckles bleed, to rip out his throat and just let loose. Let out all of his anger and use Lycan as a punching bag. But as much as he wanted to, he couldn't. That was the worst part. This must be how Raven feels when he sleeps with Blaire. Perhaps, even worse. Still, this wasn't the time to be focused on this. He needed to erase the thought and forget about Lycan sleeping with Raven. She doesn't love him, it's just an act. There's no need for him to be upset over it. It'll only blow their cover. Besides, he needed to stay focused on the task at hand.
Angel had to get his hands on a bottle of Sun Repellant IX. This is his best chance at getting his hands on it. Selene's not here. Which means she can't stop him from breaking into the medical lab and retrieving it. He just had to avoid being caught by Fate. That should prove easy enough. He placed a curse on himself that allowed him to be invisible.
Angel walked over to Selene's bedroom door. The door was locked. Selene was never too fond of intruders. Still, he had to get inside. He checked the narrow hallway. The hall was clear he had to be quick about this. He placed a curse on the lock, while the curse was blinking ready to explode. He put a second curse on it, it was the design of an ear with an X over it. The sound of the explosion was muffled causing no noise. Once the lock was broken, Angel stepped inside Selene's bedroom and shut the door quietly behind him.
Once inside, Angel dispelled his invisibility curse and walked over to Selene's dresser. The first thing he needed to find was the combination to the medical room door. Unlike Brandon who could simply smash through the wall. He wasn't going to be able to pull off something like that and not draw attention to himself. Even if he muffled the explosion, the sound curse only blocked out small explosions. Not big ones.
"Let's see," Angel opened one of her dresser drawers and began moving the clothes around. Not in this drawer, he shut it and checked another. Not this one either, he shut the drawer and gulped. Selene's going to kill him but he knew of only one place she'd hide it. A place no man would dare check for fear of being blown to bits. He opened her top drawer where her underwear had to be kept. He rummaged through her panties and underneath them. He found a pink journal with the words: "Patience's Medical Book." written on the cover.
"Here we go," Angel put her panties back in her drawer and shut it. He sat down on her bed and opened the journal. Somewhere in this journal had to be the combination to the medical room door. He kept reading through the journal in an attempt to find it. "Wait, a sec, this is-," He ran his finger underneath the words. "Sun Repellant." Which means, he scrolled his finger down to the ninth trial. "Found it." He took out the notebook Ziek gave him and began writing down the ingredients required to make the Sun Repellant IX. He wasn't sure what most of it was, he was going to need a healer to explain the ingredients but at least he had them. This still didn't change the fact, he needed the code to that door.
"Come on," Angel kept flipping through the pages of Patience's Journal. He quickly shut his eyes after seeing therapy notes, Fate. These were notes taken from Patience's therapy sessions with Fate. He couldn't read them. Nobody should read them. These were private conversations held between Patience and Fate. He had to get these Fate. He's the only person that should be allowed to have them. She had a lot of notes taken from their sessions. It was at least twelve pages worth of notes. He tore the twelve pages out of the journal and stashed them in his journal. She even had therapy notes on him. That's right, he forgot he was one of her patients. He tore the single page of notes she had on him out of the journal. He put them in his journal to dispose of later.
Once Angel was done, he took notice of a message written to Brandon from Patience. Strange, why hasn't Selene given Brandon this? He wasn't sure if he should wait for Selene to hand it to him or to hand it to him himself. It was better to let Selene do it. It's bad enough he broke into her bedroom. He turned the page, there was another message from Patience addressed to Selene. Just like Brandon's message, it was written in a hurry. It was most likely written moments before her death. Just like with Brandon's he avoided reading it. He flipped over to the next page, there it was on the end of the paper the combination.
"Finally," Angel wrote down the combination and put Patience's Journal back in Selene's drawer where he found it. He walked over to Selene's bookcase. It was filled with several medical books for her training. Still, if he was going to hide a secret entrance to a medical lab. He'd start by looking behind the bookcase. He pressed his shoulder against the bookcase moving it over closer to the door. Once he did, he saw an electronically locked door with a numeric pad next to it. He entered the code and the door lifted up allowing him access.
"I'm in," Angel walked inside and the door closed behind him. The medical room was filled with shelves each full of medicine. He couldn't quite comprehend the order the medicine bottles were in. This was going to require some searching. There had to be a list somewhere. He searched one of the four lab tables. It was there on the third table he checked, he found a log book listing the order of the meds. "Sun Repellant IX," He pointed at it, it was located on the fourth shelf third from the right. He closed the book and went to grab the meds. -Huh?!-
The second Angel's hand touched the meds. He heard the electronic door open. It caught him off guard and as a result. The pill bottle he touched fell on the floor. Before he could grab it in mid air, it was caught by-. He gulped and took a step back. It's strange how even when she's wearing a dress, she's still just as intimidating.
"What are you doing?" Selene fixed her sunflower blonde hair. "You know you aren't allowed in here and more important than that." She flashed him the label of the pill bottle, Sun Repellant IX. "You aren't allowed to have this without permission from the King. So," She took out her phone. "You have a choice, either you can tell me why you broke into my room and tried to steal this." She held out the pill bottle. "Or," She held out her phone. It displayed Blaire's name on the contact info. "I could call Blaire and tell her what I caught you doing. We both know she'll kill you. So, if I were you, I'd start talking."
"Selene ugh," Angel gulped. "You weren't supposed to be back yet." He backed up. "I thought you were with Blaire. You know," He forced a smile. "Helping her get ready for the wedding." He tried to sneak over to the exit but Selene was standing in front of it. He could always take Fate's secret passage but he was sure his door was locked by a different code.
"Well you see," Selene showed him her phone. It had an alert letting her know, someone had entered her room. "I have a security system set up in my room and in here," She showed him another alert she received. "Like I'd be dumb enough to leave the medical room unsupervised after the Brandon incident." She walked up to him. "Stop stalling, I want to know why I caught you trying to steal this. You can either answer me or I can call Blaire." She went to push the call button but Angel held out his hand to stop her.
"I'll tell you," Angel reasoned. "Please just don't tell Blaire about this." He let out a defeated sigh. "If you tell her she'll assume I'm running from her. She'll have me killed. Not like it'll make a difference though." He sat on the floor. "Once I tell you the truth. I'll be killed by Blaire anyway." He buried his head between his legs. "It's over, you caught me, so I've got no choice but to come clean." He stood up. "If I tell you the truth, you have to promise not to tell Blaire or anyone about this."
"That depends on what I'm not telling anybody." Selene crossed her arms. "Either way, you really don't have a choice. Unless," She smirked. "You think you can fight me, take the sun repellant and prevent me from calling Blaire. I'll be honest," She shrugged. "I don't see that happening, you're good but not that good." She leaned against the door. "But, I'll give you this," She fixed her hair. "You tell me right now why you tried to steal this," She showed him the bottle of Sun Repellant IX. "and I'll consider not telling Blaire but I want the truth," She glared into his eyes. "That means no bullshit." She warned. "Got it?" He replied with a nod. "Good so, talk."
"You are aware that I disappeared during the Lunar Ball." Angel walked over to one of the lab tables. "I didn't show up to the wedding either, the reason I didn't is because." His hands gripped the edges of the steel table tightly.
Deep down, Angel knew if he told Selene about Raven. She would never accept it, she hates werewolves. Always has, always will. She could never understand their relationship nor would she try to. That's just who Selene is, the war has blinded her. Regardless, he promised her the truth and that's what she deserved. He let out another defeated sigh. Here it goes. He just hopes she at least tries to understand his feelings for Raven.
"I met someone, she's a werewolf." Angel answered. Selene dropped the pill bottle on the floor. She slowly shook her head back and forth. "I know, it's forbidden and I shouldn't have done it but." He tried to explain before he could Selene spoke over him.
"Have you lost your fucking mind?" Selene yelled. "You're about to be King, you'll have a throne, an entire army to lead. People looking up to you, you'll have all the respect you could ever need. Yet, you'd throw all of that away for a werewolf." She shook her head. "Why would you do that? If you pursue her. You're as good as dead."
"I don't care," Angel answered. "I'd rather have her than sit on a throne pretending to be happy when I'm not. If I don't pursue this," He tightened his hand into a fist. "Then," He forced a swallow. "I'll never forget the time where I could have and chose not to. I would live my whole immortal life regretting that decision. I can't live like that, Selene, I refuse."
"You'd rather die knowing you did all you could, is that it?" Selene asked. "This is foolish and make no mistake you will die. This'll never go the way you want it." She pointed out. "You're not talking about pissing off one king, you're talking about pissing off both of them. If you think they won't put their differences aside just to kill you, you're wrong." She glared into his eyes. "What you're trying to do is suicide. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into." She walked up to him. "So I'm begging you, please, reconsider. I don't want to see you die. Take the throne and forget about her, she's not worth it."
"That's where you're wrong," Angel argued. "I can't just let her go, I need to see this through even if it means it'll kill me." He balled his hands into a fist. "Selene, I know this is hard for you to understand but,"
"This woman," Selene let out a deep sigh. "Do you love her?" She ran her fingers through her hair. There was no need to hesitate, Angel knew for a fact, he loved her. He'd give up anything and everything just to be with her. That's why he had to see this through.
"I do," Angel answered.
"Good," Selene picked up the bottle of Sun Repellant IX off the floor. "Here, you'll need this," She tossed him the meds. He caught it, he couldn't believe it. Selene was going to help him. "Here," She took a second bottle of Sun Repellant IX off the shelf and gave it to him. "You'll need more than one. You might want to learn how to make it." She let out a long sigh. "I'll teach you how. Just come by after the honeymoon." She fixed her hair. "I won't tell Blaire about your wolf either." Selene started to walk out of the room.
"Why?" Angel asked. "You hate werewolves so why are you helping me?" He put the bottles into his pocket. "This isn't like you."
"I'm helping because," Selene balled her hands into a fist. "You helped me, It's because of you I was able to reach my dream. Before it was impossible but you gave me a chance to finally have what I always wanted. So, I owe you one and this makes us even." She turned to face him. "You deserve to be happy, Angel." She half smiled. "If this wolf is what you want then you deserve a fighting chance."
"Thanks Selene," Angel knew this was hard for her. By helping him, she was putting herself at risk. He never expected that from her. Nor, would he have ever asked that of her. But it was the fact that Selene was willing to. Even the fact, she wasn't telling Blaire, her best friend, about any of this. To be honest, that's what caught him off guard the most.
"I wouldn't thank me just yet." Selene ran her finger along the edge of her eye. "I'm going to be the new commander of the team. It's my dream, you're my friend but." She lowered her head. "I can't sacrifice my dream for you. Whether I like it or not, I have a job to do. I just hope you can forgive me for all the things I'm going to have to do once Blaire finds out." Selene let out a deep sigh. "I don't want to see you die, nor do I want to be the one to kill you. I just fail to see where I have a choice so if it comes to that-,"
"I made my choice Selene," Angel placed his hand on her shoulder. "I knew the consequences when I made it. So don't feel bad about having to be the one to kill me. You're doing what you have to and I respect that." He hugged her. "Take care of the team, they are going to have a hard time with this." He went to leave but stopped himself. "For what it's worth," He let out a deep sigh. "I don't really want to kill you either but if it's to protect her then. I really won't have a choice in the matter." He walked out of the room.
Now that Angel had the Sun Repellant in hand. It was time for him to get ready to marry Blaire. He went to his room to change into a black suit with a red dress shirt. Blaire wanted a black and red wedding. Seeing as Angel's only desire was to get the wedding over with. He didn't care what choices she made for their wedding. Once he was dressed he heard a knock on his bedroom door.
"Come in," Angel began adjusting his black tie. Ziek walked into the room wearing black suit with a red undershirt like his. Blaire wanted all the groomsmen to wear the same suit. The only thing that set him aside from the others was. He took a red rose clip and clipped it onto the right side of his suit.
"Ready to go," Ziek checked his phone. "The wedding is going to start soon. Blaire's at the honeymoon suite waiting. She's ready for you to arrive at the wedding first. As your best man, I strongly advise that you don't keep her waiting too long." He walked up to Angel fixing his hair for him. "I know you don't want to marry her but it doesn't give me the right. To be a crappy best man. Besides, I want to be your best man again when you marry my sister."
"No, if I have my way, you'll be walking her down the aisle." Angel assured him. "We're not going to be able to get your father to do it and she looks up to you. So if anyone has the right to walk Raven down the aisle to her husband. It's you, let's be real." He laughed. "You're the one who's giving her away."
"I'm the only one who would put up a fight." Ziek chuckled. "I swear if you can pull that off, it'll be a miracle. I figured you guys would end up eloping or something. Seeing as everyone wants the two of you dead but. If you can pull off a full blown wedding with my sister. I'll be amazed and not only that. I would be more than happy to walk my sister down the aisle to you. She'd love you for doing that too."
"Then, it'll happen." Angel shrugged. "I'll figure it out. She deserves an actual wedding with someone that she actually wants to marry. Even if it's not me, she deserves it." Ziek laughed and rested his arm on Angel's shoulder.
"She'd rather marry you than Lycan." Ziek walked Angel out of his room. Brandon was walking behind them serving as Angel's only groomsmen. "Brandon, you did make sure, the wedding rings are safe right? Blaire will kill you if they aren't."
"I got them right here," Brandon pointed at his coat pocket. He coughed a little. "I also ugh, got the divorce papers too. You know, in case, Angel decides to bail. Nobody would blame you." He showed Angel the divorce papers. "You just need her to sign it." Ziek snatched them and went to tear them. Angel stopped him.
"Save those for later," Angel handed the divorce papers back to Brandon. "Keep them in your room and hide them. I'm not going to be married to Blaire forever. Just until, I figure out how to fix my current situation." Ziek nodded, Brandon ran to his room to hide the papers. "Just ugh, give me one sec," He rushed to his room and took a bottle of sun repellant and stashed it in his suit pocket to give to Raven at the wedding. "Sorry, forgot to grab something." He walked over to Ziek by the time he got back Brandon was with him.
"Are you ready for this?" Ziek asked him. "I know it's temporary but after today you'll be married to Blaire. You'll be an official Prince to the vampires. You're going to be showered with responsibilities Lord Alexander is going to shape into a worthy King. It's a lot, but, I guess." He let out a sigh. "It's nothing compared to watching my sister marry Lycan."
"I'm ready," Angel forced a smile. Inside it was killing him. The mere thought of Raven marrying Lycan right next to him. The thought of her kissing him while he was standing right there watching her do it. The pain of seeing that and not being able to stop it. Just having to stand there and do nothing. Pretending it doesn't hurt, when it does, that pain. He wasn't sure he could take it but he had to. For if Angel even tried to stop it or let out a single sign that he was hurting. It would draw attention to them and get them both killed. It was going to take all the strength he had to pull this off. But, he'd do it for her.
The three of them began to walk down the long aisle to take their place at the altar. Angel was to take his place by Lycan and wait for his bride. Ziek was to stand behind him as the best man. Which meant Brandon was supposed to...- Angel checked the altar. He took notice that Prince Lycan only had a best man. There wasn't any groomsmen. His best man was taller than pretty much everyone here. He had long blood red hair that was tied up in a ponytail. He wore a black suit with a gray dress shirt. His outfit matched Lycan's. Well since Lycan had no groomsmen, there was no point to him having one either. Besides, Angel had something better for Brandon to take care of.
"Brandon, give me the rings." Angel whispered. He held out his hand. Brandon reached into his pocket and handed him both wedding bands. "I need you to do me a favor," He grabbed Brandon's wrist in order to bring his ear close to his lips. "After the wedding," Angel put both the rings in his pocket. "I need you to create a distraction so I can have a quick chat with Raven. It's important."
"Consider it done," Brandon whispered. "Ziek," He pointed at him. "It's all-," He stopped. His pale brown eyes lingered on a girl who was sitting in one of the chairs. She had platinum blonde hair tied up in a ponytail draped by her left ear. She had slightly pale skin and pale blue eyes. "That girl," He punched Angel's arm and urged him to look. "Patience," He whispered.
"Brandon, it can't be her, she's-," Angel groaned as Brandon made a point to sit next to her for the duration of the wedding. "Whatever," He let out a defeated sigh and walked down the aisle to take his spot beside Lycan. Ziek took his spot, standing behind him.
"Oh look," Lycan chuckled. "If it isn't the man lucky enough to marry my cousin. I would say I'm impressed but you don't look like much." He laughed. "I'm going to look forward to killing you when the war starts. So, what kept you? You're late."
Angel didn't answer him. His eyes lingered on the several chairs placed outside. Each one filled with people. Lord Grimm and his wolves sat on the right. Lord Alexander and his friends on the left. Selene stood there across from Ziek as Blaire's maid of honor. Vertical from her was Claire who served as Raven's maid of honor. Claire's presence was proof that, this time, Raven would be here. Though, Claire didn't seem too happy about being here. She was angry, did her and Raven get into a fight?
"Not really one for words are you, vampire?" Lycan laughed. "It's okay, I assure you once my bride walks down that aisle. She's going to make Blaire look like garbage. After all," His lips formed a slight smirk. "She's one remarkable trophy." Angel balled his hand into a tight fist. He dared to talk about Raven like she was some prize. To think he had to stand here and watch this sad pathetic wolf marry Raven. He wanted to kill him. "She's quite good in bed too. If I do say so myself." He bragged.
"Pardon me," The man cleared his throat. "This is hardly the place to be bragging about such things." He added. The man was dressed in a white robe. In his hands he was holding a bible. He must be the minister who was going to make the marriage official. His fingers were covered in rings each resembling an element. On his right, stood a woman with slightly pale skin, her hair was shining a bright pink color as were her eyes. She wore a white frilled dress with a glowing pink corsage on her wrist. On his left was another woman wearing a blue dress, she had black hair with blue tips. "Don't mind them, these two are just here for my protection." The man assured him. "Now then, are the grooms ready to wed?"
"We are," Angel answered. He was still trying his best not to let Lycan's words get to him. Last thing he needed to do was expose his and Raven's relationship. So for now, even though every part of him wanted Lycan dead at his feet. He'd endure it. He'd pretend like Lycan was just another werewolf. "Well let me just say ugh," He turned to Lycan. "Congrats, I'm sure she's quite a catch." He forced a smile. "I'm Angel," He held his hand out to him. "You must be Prince Lycan."
"So he does speak," Lycan shook his hand. He gripped Angel's hand tightly as if to test his strength. Lycan was indeed stronger than him physically but Angel was sure. He'd still be able to kill him. He's only thought about it a couple hundred times. Just in this conversation alone. Lycan released his hand. "Let me guess," He let out an annoyed sigh. "We're waiting for our brides to do some finishing touches. Women take forever to get ready."
"Well," Angel shrugged. "Some women are worth waiting for." He turned to face the aisle. Soon, Raven would walk down this long straight path that was decorated with flowers. She'd be walking slowly down this path. She'd be wearing a dress that he imagined to be so beautiful, so perfect. Even if it wasn't perfect, she would be. Her gorgeous navy blue eyes looking up at him, her lips glossed to perfection and a smile. That beautiful smile. He knew. It was going to just steal his heart right out of his chest and leave him in tears of joy. No, He's wrong. There would be tears but not for joy, not at this wedding. For, Angel had to remind himself.
Raven wasn't doing any of this for him. She wasn't walking down the aisle to him. She wasn't going to be one kissing him. She wasn't the one marrying him. No, Raven was walking down that aisle to Lycan. She would be kissing Lycan, marrying him. The scene played back in Angel's mind on repeat. There was only one word that came to mind that would describe. How it felt to see his everything be married to someone else...Hell.
