He'd been told of Fairy Tail and it's members by Warrod, and of course their reputation for causing as much destruction as they did good preceded them.

While he respected strong mages, he wasn't exactly a fan of their chaotic methods.

Walking past their table, Naruto overheard a little of their conversation.

"Uh I don't get it. Your friend Igneel looks like a dragon?"

"Nah you got it all wrong. He doesn't look like a dragon, he is one."

'A dragon? Damn, what kind of adventures do they go out on? Almost makes me want to regret not taking Warrod-jiji's advice.' Naruto mused, taking a seat just behind the blonde lady so that he could eavesdropped further.

"Why would a fire dragon show up in the middle of town! That's totally ridiculous!" The blonde lady ridiculed.

'Yeah, almost.' Naruto chuckled.

"Good afternoon young man, do you already know what you would like to order, or would you prefer to browse our menu?"

Naruto's eavesdropping was cut short by a waitress attending to him.

"No need for the menu, miss! Bring me the best ramen this restaurant has to offer, please!" Naruto excitedly ordered.

"Right awa-"

The waitress' words were caught in her mouth as she looked just past Naruto.

Confused, Naruto turned his head, only to be stunned by what he was seeing. 'To think THE Natsu Dragneel could kowtow that low. Fairy Tail. . . Truly an eccentric bunch.'

Realizing his free show had ended, Naruto paid no attention to the others and waited impatiently for his ramen.

After savouring the food of the gods, which he had to admit was almost half as good as Ichiraku's, Naruto continued his exploration.

His gaze wandered over the bustling streets, while his feet led him to the town centre, where stalls overflowed with various produce, intricate trinkets, and handmade crafts.

With nothing catching his eye, he only spent 10 minutes in the bustling mini market before moving on to his next destination.

Arriving by Hargeon Park, the only emotion Naruto felt was disappointment.

The park was plain. Painfully plain. It was split into four sections, with two lines of cobblestone path that started and ended from the middle of all sides of the park. The middle of the park harboured an intersection that included a small fountain.

Sighing, Naruto resigned himself to taking a break from all the walking that he had done.

As he walked deeper into the park, he noticed the lady with the blonde hair talking to a strange man in purple robes.

"Then I'll see you at the party tonight." When he was only a few metres away from them, he heard the man speak before using his magic to leave the area.

"You got it Mr Salamander sir!" The blonde lady affirmed.

.

Naruto silently stood behind the lady, wanting to ask her a question, when he was surprised by what she did next.

"Hooray! He's going to get me into Fairy Tail!" She exclaimed.

'Not another one of their fanboys. Or fan girls in this case.' Naruto sighed.

"Ahem, excuse me miss." Naruto started, startling the lady.

Turning around, Naruto could see that the lady's cheeks were a shade of red, clearly embarrassed that she had been caught by someone for her outburst. "Yes? Can I help you with something?"

"I'm sorry to interrupt whatever you were doing there-"

"I was doing nothing embarrassing-"

"But I just have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering them for me? I'm Naruto by the way." Naruto introduced himself, extending a hand for a handshake.

"Oh, sure. I'll be happy to answer your questions. The name's Lucy." Lucy answered, meeting Naruto's outstretched hand with her own.

"Right, firstly I want to apologize." Naruto started, giving a short bow which confused Lucy. "But I overheard a little of your conversation with that man you were speaking to just a moment earlier."

Although Lucy was worried Naruto would tell on the authorities and get Salamander in trouble, thereby affecting her chances of getting into Fairy Tail, but his next words worried her even more.

"But why did you call him "Mr Salamander" and how was he going to help you get into Fairy Tail?" Naruto asked.

"Why do you want to know that? You're not a Fairy Tail member yourself, are you?" Lucy questioned back instead, silently hoping that she was right.

She would much rather deal with the young boy standing before her than the creepy man from earlier.

"Me? God no. I can't use magic -ttebayo." Naruto said, his verbal tick slipping out.

'Cute.' Lucy mused, a little disappointed that Naruto was not a member of Fairy Tail, though she also told herself not to bring up Naruto's inability to use magic.

She had been taught in the wizarding world that it was considered rude to do so in person.

"More importantly, I'd rather be an independent mage than join those rowdy bunch." Naruto added.

Lucy's initial disappointment turned into surprise.

"Eh?! You don't want to join Fairy Tail?!" Lucy exclaimed. "But that's like the number one gui-"

Before she could go all fan girl mode, Naruto quickly shut her down. "Please, if you would. I'm more interested in knowing about that man earlier. Something about that man gives me the creeps."

Lucy chuckled at his intuition. "You're not wrong there. Anyways, I called him that because that's who he is. Fairy Tail's very own Salamander."

The look of confusion on Naruto's face piqued Lucy's curiosity. 'Does he really not know?'
