Chapter 115: Fairy Law
Laxus slammed into the ground, creating a deep crater upon impact. He felt his internal organs reverberate with pain.
"Damn it!"
Golden lightning crackled around his hands as he pulled the energy outward, shaping it into a square-pole halberd of pure electricity.
"Lightning Dragon's Heavenly Halberd!"
Laxus hurled the lightning-formed halberd straight at Su Yan.
Su Yan crossed his arms in front of himself.
Boom—!!
He skidded backward, leaving two deep gouges across the floor from his feet. The attack tore at Su Yan's clothes, exposing an almost perfectly sculpted torso. Though not particularly bulky, that body housed terrifying strength.
Steadying himself, Su Yan showed no sign of injury. His breathing was calm; in contrast, Laxus had suffered minor wounds. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth, and his ragged breaths betrayed fatigue.
Nearby, Natsu stood as a reluctant spectator, marveling at their fight. Though it appeared evenly matched, he realized Su Yan retained the advantage. Laxus, despite all his furious assaults, remained a step behind.
Su Yan spoke evenly. "You still want to fight? I've heard enough of your speeches. It's time you took responsibility for your actions and faced the Master's judgment."
Laxus lifted his head, baring a harsh grin. "Judgment? Hah! You think you've won already? I've prepared six years for this. Did you think I'd let you beat me so easily?! Sure, I admit your body is monstrous—Dragon Slayer Magic can't match your raw physique. But today, I'm the one who comes out on top!"
Spreading his arms, Laxus tapped into another reservoir of power. A bright golden glow blossomed in his palms, intense beams breaking up the ground around them.
Su Yan recognized it at once. "Fairy Law…"
Natsu's eyes widened. He too knew of Fairy Law—Makarov's signature super-magic, one of Fairy Tail's proudest spells.
Glaring at Su Yan, Laxus bore a savage grin. "Yes. 'Fairy Law.' This super-magic—once you're marked as my enemy, you're destroyed in a single blow, no matter how tough you are! This is the ultimate destructive magic!"
"Om—!"
A ferocious aura of Conqueror's Haki blazed around Su Yan. He'd grown serious: Fairy Law was not to be taken lightly.
At that moment, Erza came running in, her expression frantic. She'd rushed over as soon as she learned about Su Yan fighting Laxus in Cardia Cathedral.
"Stop!! Su Yan!! Laxus!!" she shouted. "You have to stop! The Master—he's in critical condition!"
"What?!" Su Yan and Natsu both exclaimed.
"The old man…" Su Yan's Haki subsided in a snap. "That's impossible! Hasn't Porlyusica been giving him medicine so he can manage his heart condition? Why now?"
Erza explained breathlessly, "Mira was the one who always made sure he took it on time. But she got petrified, and then the Thunder Palace fiasco put him under terrible stress. It all happened at once—he's collapsed!"
Turning toward Laxus, Su Yan roared, "Laxus, this is on you! Come with me, confess what you've done to the old man, and—"
Laxus's eyes glowed with manic energy. "Why would I? Perfect timing. One less obstacle in my way if he's out of the picture. Once I beat you, I'll remake this guild my own way! I'll throw out all the useless trash and build the strongest guild ever!"
"Damn you…" Su Yan snarled, stepping forward to attack.
"Fairy Law—activate!" Laxus shouted.
A vast golden magic circle materialized above Cardia Cathedral.
Duang—-!!!
A deep gong-like sound echoed across Magnolia. Divine rays of light poured down, as though deities had descended. The brilliance spread out from the cathedral, enveloping the entire city in a blanket of shining gold.
After a moment, the light faded.
Laxus trembled with adrenaline. "Hah… that's it. I've surpassed the old man and destroyed you, Su—"
Cough. Cough.
He froze. Natsu and Erza emerged from the dissipating radiance, coughing, but otherwise unscathed. A short distance away stood that figure who'd haunted Laxus's mind for six long years—Su Yan, likewise unhurt.
"H-How… how is this possible?! Not a single one of you was wiped out?!" Laxus's voice quivered. "Why?! Why didn't any of you die?!"
